Looking for a new guild (TC)

Hi all,

I’m looking for a new active guild to join… he’s my story:

I started playing GW2 at release, but had to take a break after Halloween last year due to RL. I came back in June of this year and have been having a BLAST. I finally made some good friends in the game and joined their guild. The problem is that their guild is not very big or very active. I really, really enjoy playing with these people and don’t want to stop – but they just don’t play enough for my level of interest. My 3 lvl 80’s are much further along than any of theirs either. I want to run guild missions (never tried), Fractals (never tried), dungeons, world bosses, events in Orr & I love helping new players on lower level maps.

So I’ve come here to find an active guild that is accepting new players – but a guild that won’t ask for 100% of my rep time. I would still like to represent my original guild at least 50% of the time.

About me:
• Server: Tarnished Coast
• 38 years old, Male – been playing RPG’s for many, many years.
• North America (Pacific Coast Time)
• Playtime: 5pm-9pm Weeknights PST
12-6pm weekend PST
• Interests: PVE, Dungeons, Events, Fractals (wanna learn), some WvW & PVP

I consider myself a very friendly and patient guy – I’d much rather help someone than argue with them about who’s right!

If you have a guild or know of one that you think may be a good fit – please write back or PM me in game.

Thanks SO much… looking forward to finding another family!

Thank you Vox & Edward. I really appreciate you taking time to leave feedback. And great feedback at that… You’ve given me a lot to think about.

I’ve recently switched to GS due to your comments and I’m finally getting the hang of it with great results.

Thanks again!!

Cheers!

Help with Warrior Alt

Hi everyone…

I just started a new Warrior Alt and have gotten him to lvl 35. I seem to have suddenly lost all survivability and die constantly now. I have current level equipment & accessories. I’ve mostly been running sword/axe & longbow (also great sword).

I’ve never been good with traits and I think that’s where the problem lies. They’re all over the place & I feel a little lost.

Can anyone suggest a good trait set up and direction to go as I level? Any other suggestions for a Warrior newb would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Cheers!

Thanks AzureDragon.

I should have mentioned that I’m on Sea of Sorrows and after reading a bit on the forums it seems there was an exodus from that server at some point and now it’s mostly Australian / Oceanic players.

I played for about 2 hours last night and saw maybe 5-10 players the whole time over a number of maps.

Any north american / west coast server advice would be great!
I don’t want to play all alone.

Hi all,

I’m coming back to GW2 after being away for a few months. I’m really excited to get back into it, but I’m looking for some advice.

I’m a North American / West Coast (PST/PDT) player and usually play between 6pm to 11pm. The problem I’m finding upon my return is that my server doesn’t seem to be very active around those times.

Can anyone recommend a North American / West Coast server that’s active in the evenings?

Really appreciate any feedback.

Thank you!

I've enjoyed this game wholeheartedly

Thank you for this post! I have been avoiding the official forums as of late because I can’t stand all the negativity and the level of maturity (not to mention the rationality) of forum members is appalling.

I’ve been into single player RPG’s for many years and am very familiar with the post launch hissy fit that most player bases exhibit. GW2 is my first MMO and I can’t tell you how much I love it – it’s going to be a long time until I go back to other games. However the small minority of players that whine, cry and throw tantrums on this forum have driven me away (from the forum, not the game).

I have never been as annoyed with the human race as I have been while reading this forum. I come here for game tips, news and camaraderie – not to listen to children complain about how this and that are not to their specifications. It’s really very sad that there are so many players who considered themselves the utmost authority in game design – when in actuality the only thing their expressing are their own personal dislikes. Just because you “believe” certain game systems should function a specific way doesn’t make it so.

It’s not YOUR game, it’s Anet’s and they will do with it as they please. If you don’t like it, then please leave! And don’t worry, there are more than enough players to keep the game going – getting rid of 100-150 cry-baby players does not affect a player base in the MILLIONS.

It reality, the only thing making me not want to play the game are the negative players, who don’t know how to express themselves appropriately (and over-react to everything like a 12 year old).

Thanks to the original poster for a positive, constructive post. I hope to see more of these in the future.

Been playing since launch, just started happening to me today. Very annoying! I’ve been monitoring my connection during gameplay and it appears fine. It must be a server side issue.

Server question...

Quick question: Over the last few weeks it appears that the server I’ve been on (Henge of Deneravi) has cleared out and I’m feeling a bit lonely. I was able to switch to a server that is normally listed as full (Sea of Sorrows) and I thought that would solve the problem.

However, I’m beginning to think it may be an East Coast server as when I play late at night no-one is around.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a high population server that is comprised of West Coast (American) players?

Could be a long shot, but I figured someone out there might have some info.

Thank you for your time & any suggestions!

“4.) Test your stuff before launching it!!!!!!!!
-When the dungeon “fixes” came out, ANet admitted that there were bugs and people were stuck getting very few to no tokens. We had to wait a full week for the new “fix”.
I have seen many people already suggest a test server or something."

Comments like this drive me crazy!!!!

“we had to wait a full week for the new fix” – have you ever had a job before? Do you not realize that large companies with many moving parts have to prioritize and schedule fixes/changes? Just because something has been reported DOES NOT mean it will be fixed immediately! It has to be verified, a fix identified and then scheduled, and then tested before pushing it live. This takes time and not just a week, it can be many weeks depending on how many other tasks are scheduled and who’s available to work on what.

It’s the same for bots. Just because you reported a bot doesn’t mean someone is going to immediately jump on it and ban that person. Again a whole process of verification, identification of a solution and implementation has to be completed before you see any changes.

“I have seen many people already suggest a test server or something” – Are you serious? Really? Every software company that pushes builds uses a test server. It would be almost impossible for them to do their jobs without one. You clearly do not understand the complexity of writing code. No matter how much testing you do there will always be conflicts with existing code – ALWAYS!

I know a fair number of players here are younger and have no concept of how a company (let alone a software company) functions – but please, learn to have some patience. The world does not revolve around you and ANET is doing everything in their power to make this game as perfect as they can get it.

There is no way a company that is trying to build a brand (and profit) is going to ignore the things being brought up – IT JUST TAKES TIME!

Be patient please!

WOW!!! What an amazing community!!

I just posted a little while ago and look at all the responses. Thank you guys so much, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all your tips and info. This is going to save me so much time and allow me to really just focus on having fun (while still being able to complete everything ).

I’m going to print this all out and read it during my boring meetings this afternoon. Why listen to cost allocation plans when you could be learning about Guild Wars! Hahahahaha!!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Happy Halloween!

Hi all!

So far my experience with the GW2 community has shown that the people playing this game are incredibly friendly and helpful. I’m wondering if a few of you kind souls could help me out with some info about the Halloween content?

I have an extremely demanding full time job that is consuming huge amounts of my time these last few weeks. I haven’t had the time to look around the game world or the forums to figure out all there is to do. Tomorrow evening I have the whole night free and plan on knocking out as much of it as I can. Could someone be so kind as to post a short list of all the Halloween content? I know about the scavenger hunts (completed #1 and got the book already).

This is what I know about:
-Scavenger Hunt: Act 1 – completed (where do I trade it in for the back piece?)
-Scavenger Hunt: Act 2 – need to do
-Scavenger Hunt: Act 3 – need to do
-Scavenger Hunt: Act 4 – need to do

-Pumpkin Carving – done about 20 or so of them

-Clock Tower Puzzle – where do I go to try this?

-Mad King Battle / Dungeon – Where is this?

-Haunted Doors in Human lands – When you enter these is there any specific goal or is it just running around killing the stuff in there?)

-I’m sure I’m missing more?

Before someone comes on here calling me lazy or telling me to look around – I know the information is on the forums and other sites, but I do not have the time to sort through all the posts and sites looking for this info. This is my first MMO and I am truly loving GW2 – I really do want to experience all the holiday event has to offer.

Being a busy person I do realize the value of time and want to send a big THANK YOU to anyone who responds to this post in advance!

Thanks

37 here and loving it. First MMO for me, even though I’ve been into RPG’s (tabletop & crpg) for 20+ years. There are a few issues here and there, but I’m thoroughly addicted to this game. It’s scratching an itch that single player RPG’s never did and I’m constantly surprised how much fun I having – there are times when I get adrenaline rushes over a tight battle. That NEVER happened in single player games for me.

Apathetic kitten here! There may be a thing here and there that I don’t like or don’t agree with. But for the most part I’m having too much fun to care.

I know someone is going to come on here and say “well wait till you get to 80 – there’s nothing to do”. I don’t believe that one bit, I have 5 alts (between level 2 and 50) and can think of a million things to do with them after I hit 80 on them.

I totally agree with NetherDiver above:
“As annoying as the Guardian Greatsword change was, it only took me a few minutes to get used it. I love this game, I’m willing to put with minor annoyances.”

Thanks

I’m very happy to hear that there are players like you guys out there. I think more of us should try and adopt the sentiment you guys have. I know that after reading this thread I’m going to make time to help people out more and that I MUST pay attention to the chat window more.

I’m currently at level 30 or so with my main, but I cannot tell you how many high level players have helped me out with a plethora of different tasks. I always try and say thank you, but sometimes they run off before I can type it in.

So I’d like to say a big “Thank you” to the generous anonymous souls out there that always lend a hand!!

I agree, I like the hearthstone idea. That would be a great incentive to travel back – also adding more things to do in cities would also be fun. Maybe even small quests to help the local inhabitants?
