Come to CD BL/EB at most evening (GMT+8), where you can see one not-so-stealthy thief & one ele tag team defending treb/catapult fr incoming catapult/ballista shots during breakout events ^^

Hey i’m sure there are some but i have honestly never ever seen one been playing since beta and mostly wvw. Blackgate.

Just saying this video is the best roaming group in the world atm. Red Guard EU.
This is their video from leaving EU for a week and visiting Tier1 US servers prior to the paid transfers. No one could beat them at equal numbers aaaand they regularly rolled zergs 2 to 3 times their size.

Zerg at your door? Rain down fire and light them up! Get downed on the walls of the structure you’re defending? No problem! Vapour form hover away to safety!

Zerg at your door? Rain down deadly poison and blow them up with cluster bomb. Get downed on the walls of the structure you’re defending? No problem! Teleport out of the red circles to safety!

Zerg planting down catapults from a short distance? Get your thief engines ready!

Step 1: Block with Smoke Bomb.
Step 2: Shadow Refuge run to their siege. Dagger Storm twirls of death!
Step 3: Survive.
Step 4: Stealth and run back into the keep!

Truly thieves are balanced too…

On top of that none is mentioning here that you can stay in stealth almost indefinitely in freshly captured structures and rez the mesmer who is dead followed by portaling the entire team in.

But NEVERMIND that would required the full time thieves to think about something else than themselves.

Do damage?

Most of the classes you mention can outlast a thief and even burst him.

Lets see..

Warrior/Guardian/Ele CC > thief CC
Warrior/Guardian/Ele HP > Thief Hp
Warrior/Guardian/Ele Though> Thief Though

Wrong. Ele has lowest HP + Toughness of all professions.

Lol and these thieves are trying to tell us to get our facts straight before complaining about thieves?

I mean, there’s an obvious HUGE disparity between the survivability, mobility and self sustainability in class options going on here that allows certain classes the ability to dive into these 1vGroup situations and lay down havoc while not only surviving the counter-attack but winning the situation.

  • Winning doesn’t mean spiking EVERY player, but surviving the encounter with some kills and GETTING OUT OF DODGE SUCCESSFULLY in order to /laugh, /dance at the fate of that group getting face-smashed by one insane class.

You linked dapheonx’s video, just as expected. She/he is one of the best WvW roaming elementalists I have ever seen. Trust me, I call myself an experienced ele, but 99% of D/D eles won’t be able to do that sort of thing.

Also. Do you really think those D/Ds roam around and win every single enounter they face? Flat out no. It takes around a week of footage to pick out the good fights you had and make a montage video like you linked. I saw a level 15 guardian roaming around in healing spec and killing level 80s 1v3. I know a friend in BG who dueled half the map in SoR and won every single on of them, coming out at full health every time. Then I know this other guildie who plays an engy, who melted said guardian in less than 5 seconds. See, there are good players here and there who can do crazy stuff, but that, in no way means that all D/Ds can do that.

Anecdotal at its best.

I’ll add to this that your skills would wastly change to be most effective in given scenario as well. So if i get cought of guard in 1 vs 1 but i have big group setup it’s bad news for me.

Mesmer, Guardian, or Necromancer.

Necromancer staff owns. Their abilities own. Espically the ones that remove boons off the enemy teams hero. They don’t really have a spike but they can set one up with spectral grasp. Or they can fill space with minions.

Necromancer staff doesn’t have an ability that removes boons from enemies. The one you’re referring to is Putrid Mark and it transfers conditions from allies to enemies. On a 20 seconds CD and seems to be quite inconsistent.

Spectral Grasp pulls and chill 1 target on a 30 second CD. Minions have a terrible AI and should never be used.

Necromancer is probably the weakest profession in WvW at the moment.. Hopefully we get some buffs.

OT: I’d say Guardians are the strongest at the moment. A lot of build diversity, huge amount of support, can also be very bursty if built correctly.

I duno where this is coming from but hey i don’t mind a buff lol. My main is Necro and i’m op in group setting. Staff scepter dagger for the most part. There are just way too many bad necro players. Good when i get the buff half my guild will roll necro lol. I’ll give you a hint, stop using the lich form.

O ye and the most OP class is thief. Not the best for huge zergs besides their dagger storm but the ability to completely pick the fight and bail at will is the most op thing in the game atm in my opinion. I tend to think of them as mig 15s lol. Hey i fly higher=you can not engage me unless im willing. I can bail at any time pretty much because my climb rate and turning radius is superior.

Lol, ye someone high in the development or his kid (as stated before) has a thief for main.

BG is very fun server in WvW. The EB borderland that usually does not lack coverage is a testiomony of that. Hardly ever does anyone own more there than us. Yet the guilds alliance is very casual and not robot like. Funz funz funz!

Currently, some players causing the AoE are able to do more damage to one person while also controlling a portion of the field, compared to a player with single target damage.

Why not just up the single target damage on classes that fit this category? Why mess with AoEs? I don’t think a warrior with killshot that does 17k damage from a warrior wearing 0 berserker gear fits this picture. Nor does thief.

On top of that i bet that AoE build such as you are describing will have to be a glass canon and as such not being able to survive much at all unless his team watches his back. And even than can be oneshotted.

I’m a part of a bigger WvW guild from BG and i have never ever heard any guild member nor a host on our TS complain about any AoE in the sense that they think it should be nerfed. This is just kinda coming out of nowhere to us.

Nerfing AoE damage really has the potential to mess with WvW combat a bit too much and promote more zerg. Just my 2 cents. And btw thanks for a reply, it’s appreciated.

That’s an Elementalist balance problem, not an AoE problem.

That is not a problem whatssoever.

Big fat red circle that you can dodge out of before it even hits you. Plus glass canon eli is the easiest thing to kill.

17000 “tic = 1 hit” from a rifle warrior is ok? 20k damage from a stealth thief in about 3 seconds is all good?

You are complaining about 2500? you serious? lol

This is all part of ANets plan to make us all play thieves. AoE was one of the tools you could use against thieves, but now that we won’t have it, theres no point in playing anything else! Yay!

Exactly. Thieves are the most OP bar none if specced and played right. Than there is a big gap and than may be other classes. Skilled thief can kill a group of 10 solo 1 by 1 i have seen it.

This is a complete joke if you ask me.

The only class thats OP to oblivion is a thief. No need to touch anything else whatsoever. Are there mesmers running all over because they the only class with portal? No. Why give it to any other class. Anet realize these people are skilled forum trolls trying to get an edge for their favourite classes. There is absolutely no reason to waste your resources on this. Besides nerfing thief’s perma stealth which is rather put it mildly “out of wheck”. Everything else is just fine in my opinion.

Anet don’t fall for the big forum trolls that never played an AoE character.
Seriously this is not an issue whatsoever. If an elementalist speces for crazy AoE DPS he/she now has less than 1000 toughness less than 1000 vitality around 12k health and can be oneshoted in 1 hit by certain “melee” class thats using a rifle and doesn’t even have to have 1 piece of berserker gear on.

Nothing to see here. Trash this subject and move on. Waste of time. And as already pointed out this will only encourage big zergs as it will become rediculously easy for zergs to revive their own and not die easy at all.

Anet has been so far pretty good at not listening to 95% of the troll base at all and done what they know is right. Good job with that and keep it up. You think Steve Jobs would have gotten anywhere listening to the masses and taking a vote from them or something rediculous like that? Hell no.

Without wanting to break the morale of any server. I have seen smaller forces beat larger forces over the last few days. This has happened to all three servers. Often it is the result of a good flank, who makes the first strike or culling issues.

Pretending that your own server is unbeatable or has never lost a fair fight, is good for your own morale but is not the truth. All servers have some good players. All servers have won and lost battles. Keep at it everyone!

I’m sure it happened the other way as well. But I haven’t seen it

1-11-13 SoS vs JQ vs BG redux

So a little analysis from a BG guy.
Friday opening: BG dominated for a day, first in scores. SoS and JQ both realized they are outdone. Double teaming begins soon after because they simply can’t stand the thought of a newcomer rolling them like this. We have witnessed whole SoS and JQ zergs almost going through each other just wave and move on both attacking BG. Say what you want i have seen it all day long. Hey it rhymes. It’s a poetry piece! It’s the ugly political reality of T1.

Tactical/strategic observations so far:

SoS seems to be far superior to JQ and BG in overall strategy/tactics. They seem to out think BG and JQ in terms of overall manpower movement in the world as global place. Meaning not within 1 map but all 4 maps at the same time. If you do this you gain the advantage of gaining/regaining territory very fast which than allows you to move to another map and do the same there while your opposition even with same numbers but devided gains territory slower and wipes if they encounter this big zerg. BG lacks this capability and really needs to improve here. From a BG player (mine) perspective our commanders are excellent but they need 1 additional strategic/tactical command lvl that would direct the whole world not just 1 map. SoS is outperforming the competition by very smart and timely zerg moves among the 4 Battlegrounds using overwhelming force to gain/regain ground. They seem to just fill a map till queue kicks in and take this whole force to overwhelm opposition. This is the point of this: The Whole Force. Sometimes they will use small force of 10 or so to cut of reinforcements trickling in from spawns. Very smart on their part and as said BG needs to catch up in this department. Consider this: Even if most of their zerg dies in the process of killing the opposition yet some live they just raise the dead and move on. Giving them time advantage because of no need to regroup unlike the other team. This also cuts on their travel time. Not to mention psychological advantage of lowering your opponents numbers by discouraging them.

This statement is gonna make a lot of T1s mad here lolz but it is true from what i have witnessed. Nor SoS or JQ could beat us in open filed if the forces were about even or sometimes more of them and we are talking larger numbers. We always won these encounters. Every single time. They both seem to have too many glass canons who simply can not take it. In very small encounters this seems to be flipped to their advantage.

T1 feels far closer to SPvP than T2 did. You see a lot of small scale tactical moves of: run away till the advantage is on my side = i don’t fight fair fights. I also noticed on SoS and JQ side much smarter moves as far as saving their fallen and getting them up to fight again than was the case in T2.

I’m honestly little disappointed by the politics of T1. Double teaming recessed a lot once SoS got significant point advantage. Just so they now can pretend it never happened lol. And yes i do stand by my statements and yes it did happen.
