Renegade Feedback and Suggestions

Renegade shouldn’t have utility skills that all are the same skill type. This is extremely limiting to the class, as you’ll notice that all of the core specs have utility skills that each do something at least a little different. Jalis can create roads OR spin hammers. Shiro can create a large CC blast OR shadowstep towards an enemy, etc. The fact that the Kalla legend can ONLY create these glorified wells greatly limits the use the legend itself will see.

I think Jalis cleanses enough condi, look towards Ventari for your mass cleansing needs. Jalis hammers are meant to help you stay in the fray by reducing the damage you take, healing, and doing damage. Increasing the upkeep for some more piddling condi cleanse reduces the time you can keep them spinning. However, Shiro could definitely use some condition cleansing, that we both agree on.

Please undo the Guardian Staff Nerf

I have no idea why this happened. My big, bulky, tanky Guardian now can only slowly lumber towards the enemy, only to have them die before he pokes them gingerly with his holy rod. Now the only thing I have to satisfy my ‘light mage’ archetype itch involves Scepter, which can only attack one thing at a time.

Please change it back.

What changes would need to be made to elevate power revenant to a pug-ready state in raids?

I personally enjoy doing more in 1 button than another class can do in 5. Makes you feel like the monster Mallyx was.

The one change I would really enjoy would be making hammer 3 have a flip skill. This flip skill should last only as long you are in the ‘leaping’ part of hammer 3, and using it causes you to actually teleport to where you ‘land’ This will allow for some really cool mixups, making your opponent wonder if you’re going to teleport back to your original position, or teleport to where you landed.

Impossible Odds: Deserves a change?

Impossible Odds, trademark skill of Shiro. We all remember this unique ability from the Factions campaign, where it caused him to double-strike, deal out cleaves, as well as transfer conditions off him. All this, admittedly, might be a bit much for someone who channels only echoes of the original. However, power Revenants seem to be lacking in many different ways, so I propose a few change ideas.

So it is I ask you fellow Revenants, which seems best to you? Should Impossible Odds have more effects to offset the large resource cost? Should Impossible Odds have the upkeep cost reduced to allow for more leeway in resources? Is this a pointless endeavor and only serves to distract from the real issues of power Revenant?

I like it, but they’d either have to put it in f2 which would mess up regular Herald players, or in f3, which would look kinda weird

I absolutely LOVE the Greatsword concept, as well as the heal that grants both health and energy. This would be a welcome addition to the game in my book.

Rev is a great support class. We give other people boons while taking the conditions off them, so they can fight better. Our damage is decent, and we can give good chase with Axe offhand and even have a reveal for those pesky thieves. When timed right, Infuse Light can keep you in the fight longer than many classes. But for a 1v1, you’ll have to work much harder than the other heavy armor classes do.

The thing is, you need to line it up in order to snag someone with it. That’s the only way to do the maximum damage with it. If you’re fighting an opponent who has a brain, you’ll just clip them with 1 or 2 hits, which does laughable damage. You’ll only deal maximum damage if you catch them dead-center, which take a good degree of skill.

Tgis,is the problem with inevitable outcomes of new expansions

1. The new class will be OP. This is by design to move boxes.

2. The expansion class will eventually be nerfed down to earth.

What you are experiencing is the natural order of things and the truth is the class is perfectly fine and not surpassed yet

That doesn’t make it right. Why is it that we excuse bad ideas on the forums? Even people who disagree with the changes seem to think it’s okay just because “that’s the way it’s supposed to be”.

I’m not saying its wrong or right on Anet’s part. It’s business and the way things are. As a player you should know this before hand and expect this to happen.

Honestly the players complaining about the nerfs are the ones who are the most wrong in this, situation.

I have to disagree with you about complaining about nerfs being wrong, at least as a general.

There are some things that legitimately need nerfs, but the way they’re done makes the difference, and as of late, the lazy change numbers tactic Anet has been doing simply isn’t what’s needed in a lot of cases. Rather, reworking broken skills, either OP, underperforming, or not working at all, should be looked at more, imo.

Some skills clearly do too much, in damage or function etc, while others don’t function properly at all or are very unreliable. This inconsistency causes a lot of frustration to players on both sides who get tired of seeing it ignored.

Why are you even giving any energy to this? You should have known this was going to happen, and prepared yourself for it like the rest of the world. Revenants were so OP on release and remained so for an entire year. At what point in time did you think that was ok?

Wait you just thought you were good didn’t you?

Why exactly are the players wrong? You say that we are just because of some silly trend that a good number of companies follow. Revenant is no more overpowered than any existing class. Anything a rev can do in terms of combat, a guard or war can do five times easier.

Our bursts were negated simply by having the enemy be bunched together. Our condition control was/is horrendous without nearby teammates. As of now, it seems our ONLY role is to be a boonbot so other classes can use your swiftness to get to the battle sooner, and use your might and fury to do far more damage than you ever could. We are one of the only classes balanced around having boons permanently attached.
Other classes can still benefit from the boons, but have not suffered in the balance patches despite the ability for them to have these boons too.

Also, why are you trying to dissuade thought that dissents from the choices ArenaNet has made? A forum exists for people to speak, not just for people like you to hear their echoes bounce around.

I do agree with you on one thing however: a rework of all the classes needs to happen.

Revenants are still great in the grand scheme of things. Did these changes bring them down to earth? Yes and it was greatly needed.

The only problem is that every other class is still up in the sky…

Staff skill animation proposal

I know we’ve got bigger fish to fry in the rev forums, but it would be pretty cool to have flashier skill animations for the staff. Remember Dervish, and those wicked spin moves?

But more importanly, we could get a better idle animation for the staff. Most staves aren’t that heavy, why hold it like we do the hammer?
