All of the above. All you guys have nailed it very eloquently.
I should not feel relieved when the constant bi-weekly living story content ends. I should be feeling disappointed and looking forward to more.
Admittedly they have cleaned up the mess of Scarlet’s character and story very nicely towards the end and I now feel like her existence plays some not insignificant part in Tyria’s canon vs a throwaway character I’m only feeling disappointed over the ending of one story. However I won’t be missing being forced to keep up with it and often only BARELY getting things done on the last Sunday of the last weekend with the cost being sleep deprived “only” a few hours going into Monday.
Good post. Summed it up. It’s wrong to feel relieved that living story will soon be taking a break
I’m still phoning it in barely because I just want to keep up with the lore and universe, but I’m barely there. All my friends have quit and specifically because content was being taken away before they even got a shot at it because they were too busy with rl/job/gf etc or that it was insubstantial to be worth bothering with anyway.
For me even though it was fairly recent I completely forgot what new recipes and crafting has been added and skipped SAB (twice now) and Tequatl at release I knew Tequatl was permanent (no rush) and that SAB will be back or become permanent eventually.
This was all fine and good in the Everquest era when we didn’t have other MMO’s to play and as far as games go.. hardcore players were generally on the same games (quake, unreal 2k4, EQ) etc and could build substantial critical mass around each game and needed such an update schedule to keep things fresh. Nowadays there are many more things demanding our attention, other games, more platforms, mobile etc and many high school and college age gamers have now grown up with families and responsibilities so we have another mismatch.
The living story was a great achievement. GW2 has actually achieved the impossible holy grail, they are creating content faster than players can chew through it. No other MMO has done this to date and the and should be in the Guinness Book of Records for it. However.. players are also not necessarily as dedicated or demanding as they used to be in the MMO 1.0 era so this is easier than it was back then.
In any case.. pulling back, adding permanent content and going bigger, deeper expansions to give people a break and also concentrate their attentions to become reinvested in the game again after said break/expansion would work a lot better in the today’s world.
There just simply isn’t enough need/demand for constant new shinies anymore or for MMO’s to be a life replacement for people like there used to be
Which parts are RNG besides the camera angle and rift spawn locations?
The patterns change depending on which pod you use, but if you stick with one yes the spawn and angle is the same. It basically penalizes you if you change pods due from lack of time. The rift spawns also change with that so if you’re bouncing from pod to pod trying to find an empty one, it can seem random. Given crowding and randomnesss of overflows etc I think this should have been factored into the design
Another thing I found earlier while trying to do it as a mesmer is that the sword-5 push back skill can be randomly bugged whether it works or not. Again.. if the fight was a little more forgiving, all the bugs and unintended issues would be annoyances but not game breaking.
The furthest I’ve gotten her down is 40% but that was due to good luck more than skill. The problem with this encounter is that it depends a lot more on luck both in phase 1 (spawn patterns of rifts favouring you killing them easily, stuff actually working i.e. hitting the kitten things, shades connecting with portals) and in phase 2 whether or not the hour glass spawns right on top of you or not. Staying closer to the middle gives you the least area to avoid but then its also luck whether or not the clones are around the middle also.
The encounter was designed for best cases, someone’s not a charr/norn, camera works and isn’t slightly delayed when picking up the orbs, skills actually not being bugged , no lag and so on. It just needs to be dialed down a bit to account for imperfect conditions, so it’s still challenging but not impossible if luck isn’t with you.
She’s difficult but it’s the RNG element of luck that is what makes things unfair and not satisfying despite the difficulty
My fixes for the fight
- Change ground circle colour to black. Green would be better since its more obvious but black goes with what she actually casts. Yes the ground can be orange-ish which is harder to distinguish.
- Two orbs thrown at her to get to phase 2, not three since Phase 1 depends on a lot on the randomness of where the portals and the orbs spawn and suck you
- Phase 2’s AOE attack reduced to how it was in phase 1 vs an hourglass
Other non balance issues are the fps and unforgiving nature of the fight if you have one iota of lag/sneeze/get camera screwed. I had to turn my settings all the way down just to have enough of a frame rate to respond to shades. Once I did that I was reaching Phase 2 more consistently.
I know it’s a challenge to even push out higher quality content on the LW production schedule but even if you pull it off, there clearly isn’t enough room or time for adequate testing as we’ve seen throughout these releases and they are aimed for best case. You can compensate for this by taking your best case and dialing it back about 20% to account for the variance of unforeseen things like the issues mentioned above
Everything in this thread if dead on. Liadri was the last straw for me, I dont think I’m going to stay on this treadmill to “rush” to complete this grindy content before it’s over anymore.
It’s a pity, the queen’s gauntlet was pretty enjoyable up until her and certain things like the flame and frost storyline and the aetherblades dungeon did stick out as pretty good content that is not permanent.
I think many are burned out from feeling like they “have” to log in when they don’t want to, or in my case when I don’t have time to and be put into a position of having to rush everything before it gets taken away. This has already gotten old. I’m done.

Worst support ever! 130825-000859 and 130825-000890 for accidental soulbound items, despite the fact that items were never equipped, just had a skin applied and another transmuted respectively. I was asking if they could be unsoulbound.
The reply was just flat out saying we cannot help. No attempts to even understand the situation (each ticket was for a different item) or compensate in some other manner if the CS reps could not modify or replace items. I mentioned that gold could compensate in helping me craft replacements. Hopefully they can do something about that but just the blowoff despite a probably overworked and underpaid staff was not appreciated
Sorry, but how did you not know that once you transmute something, it is soulbound? If you try to think about it, it makes perfect sense. Why would you be allowed to post something on the Trading Post when it has a different name and stats than it should have?
Who said anything about listing them on the trading post? It’s always been soulbound on USE. Transmuting is not using, they are never equipped or consumed. Basically even when you just apply a skin to something, it counts as a “use” when that weapon is never swung, equipped or even fired.
Anyway nothing is lost if transmuting or skinning something doesnt count as using them. It’s not like that condition is there to prevent.. what? characters from sharing skins? so a) if this is unintended behaviour and it does seem like its the case, it should be fixed b) the CS guys should have way better tools, even if this is something that needs a supervisor override.

Also .. these “invasions” don’t do anything, the mobs literally show up and do nothing. It would have been nice to see them actually sacking towns like the DE invasions. It would be better to have these in 1 month or even 2 month increments if it means we get better quality for it. The cheap and shallow content is getting old.
“Guild overflows” is a good idea to have something that is less random and more focused. Generally I would prefer stuff that is more Flame and Frost like (except without the months of busywork) and evolving the existing story i.e. order stuff, what happened to trahearne, building on the histories and evolving the existing areas.
They’ve been playing it safe with this whole “living world”/“living story” thing and doing side stories so that anyone who misses them isn’t completely lost but it’s getting old. They had more of a “living world” before all this imo.
aetherblades jumping puzzle was a mass zerg too. Karkas… and so on. There have been more zerg events than not
Guild Wars 2 has turned into zerg wars. Every living story is not so much a story but mindless events having us zerg from zone to zone, champion to champion. At the very least if you’re gonna do zerg events make them a special occasion, not every update. Once every 3 months or maybe twice a year so it does feel epic and special. Right now it feels tedious and repetitive. Also.. if you’re going to gate repetitive timed content like this, 2-3 portal invasions or whatever you call them in the future is enough. 5 encourages idling which is exactly what I’m doing now as I type this.
On top of content and achievements we can barely keep up with, the living story has been removed from a “living world” or even a dynamic one that we played coming through 80 and the story and characters are pretty much throwaway, the “living story” is actually driving people away from the game and not engaging them etc etc but this has all been said before.
Yup I do understand that about 80-90% is a server side issue, but a) would have to wonder if in a place like that, their data costs would plummet b) they have to design for minimum spec DSL connections which more and more are completely inadequate. A rising tide would lift all boats as far as bandwidth headroom goes. Cable upload is also unreliable depending on how much downstream is going on and also how your cable provider prioritizes its tv/data channel split. Fiber is the only thing that doesn’t have any of those common issues and starts us all off on a better foundation.
Turn problem into an opportunity to push for better broadband standards globally.
Make a test bed in Kansas City, Chattanooga or Korea where everyone is on fiber where culling isn’t needed and use this as an Clearly we are hitting the limits on current tech and for everyone that says “there’s nothing that needs fiber”, this could be one of the obvious cases aside from things like 4k, and UHDTV
Obviously you can’t design for people to have fiber, not even in the next 3 years, it will take at least 5 but you could help speed this along in a small way much like things like Napster drove demand for broadband, you guys could play your part so the US doesn’t fall that much further behind Europe and Asia.
There is a lot of costly developer/engineering time going into rearchitecting around this mess is holding you back from expanding the game that wouldn’t otherwise happen if we all had better connections.
I heard Jay Wislon is in charge of WvW.
ragequitting now
Def some epic zerg fights tonight. SoR puts up a much harder and more entertaining fight than BG and SBI. Special shoutout to Gaschioch over at east supply on SoS BL tonight, you guys dont give up and fight to the last man. Def worthy of that ex-DaOC rep that I was looking to see all this time.
Epic 3 way over at Dreaming Bay too Funnest night I’ve had in awhile
Been an issue for a long time now since a month or two into release. Architecturally this will take them awhile to fix. If you want to play a real WvW game go with Planetside 2 (apparently also has infantry culling issues, but vehicles are fine), and ESO may well do this right.
JQ very much impressed me as a server when I first showed up as a “tourist” who just couldn’t find Arah groups a the time. Activity wise I would say JQ is very active and evenly split between PVE and WvW. That is the problem, the deck needs to be further stacked on the WvW side
If you are fresh to the game and are only just starting to get into WvW then there is no better server that can accomodate both WvW and PvE needs.
There is also a community teamspeak so you will not have to join a “hardcore” guild of people you don’t necessarily like just to have the coordination and focus. The anti elitist atmosphere is very true and the best part about JQ
All you ever hear these days is doom and gloom, ascended items, no endgame, zones are empty, population decline bla bla.
I think many have forgotten what it was like when we all started. GW2 has been a very polished and all around breath of fresh air throughout the entire experience from lvl 1 to lvl 80 and getting your last exotic/ascended piece. Well maybe not the ascended part lol. Nonetheless I’ve gotten my money’s worth and it was an all around fantastic journey while it lasted so I’m not forgetting to say thank you to the devs for what they have delivered.
Too many people are of the WoW/EQ mentality where the MMO has to be able to replace their real life. This isn’t an Arenanet problem, it’s a people problem. In the long run it’s healthier to be able to cycle in and out of games as new content is developed and released than to devote your life to just one and it will take some time and maybe a few more games following a similar model for people to “detox” out of the old mentality.
LOL well thats why I asked, different strokes for different folks.
IMO the clocktower JP was a masterpiece even though it wasn’t designed well to accomodate everyone. The intricacy of its design really blew me away and it sucked that it was squeezed in on a weekend with a lot of other things going on and most people didn’t have the time to master it. I’m sure if it was up for at least a week or longer more people might have completed it.
It was too much packed into a small 3-day or whatever time frame though. I didn’t even get a chance to look at what we could have crafted in Halloween much less get any mats, if it were me I would have left things up for a week. Hopefully they give us all a longer chance at it all next year
What I enjoyed most from Wintersday were the jump puzzle and the Infinarium, at least when it’s new and you’re not just grinding through differing variations of events. Everything else I found to be not fun and at best.. filler. Toypocalypse is better than a sleeping pill, the guitar hero game and the new PVP mode were even less fun. Toypocalypse almost sounded like a Horde mode but what we got was the most disappointing of all. No rewards, absolutely boring grinding gameplay that you couldn’t wait to be over, couldn’t bring in your friends in probably the most boring thing you can do in the game etc.
The Halloween event on the other hand, I barely had time to take in the mad king story while running around frantically trying to finish it in time and didn’t get to the jump puzzle for the sake of time, didn’t want to spend it all on the JP unproductively but the dungeon and even the PVP minigame with the zombies was actually really well done and I wish they would p
I may particularly be biased towards content vs just filler “activities” but I felt like Halloween was by far the better update in terms of meaningful things happening, mad king taking out the statue etc. We also had much better skins and rewards to chase after, Wintersday at best has the slingshot.
What say others?
Is this intended? already did every event/frame when Tixx was flying around different cities so I’ve gotten them all and made two mini pets already. Now when i do the event each day all I’m getting are gifts.
Is that it? no more?
The real problem is that they make us repeat content to get the gear. People are not playing for fun, they’re playing to get kitten out of the way so they can get to the fun stuff ie. not grinding. Wasn’t this in the manifesto? :P it still isn’t anywhere near as bad as WoW but still.
The REAL grind is if you want to get a full set out of a dungeon, the armor is bad enough already but if you want to do it for weapons too..
I did play with someone who was doing this with AC once and the only thing I can describe him as is.. damaged, and maybe traumatized. He knew the exact spawn location of everything, including the burrow spawn order on that path with the collectors. He yelled at everyone for literally not taking the most optimal running path as if it was a racing line, if we even had to stop to kill one graveling and thus making the run “sub optimal” he was yelling again. This is what someone can be driven to if they are forced to re-run content that much, of course they would want to skip everything.
Dungeon farming is literally when the fun in GW2 stops and turns into a grind. and uncoincidentally this is the only thing they’ve really transplanted from WoW. Gee.. imagine that :P
Roll a thief. No other class can practically one shot people every 60 seconds and then escape, then do it all over again.
This needs to be stickied. Have been getting mid reset issues for Lupi as well. Its sad it wasn’t failing at P3 issues like most people since we were handling it fine, it was him literally resetting mid combat while doing well that broke our group’s spirit.
The code that you have to prevent people from pulling him to waypoint before is now affecting legitimate play of this encounter
(edited by fathamburger.8453)
I’m not even partaking in this fractal bullkitten for all these reasons. It is horrible design. I might consider it again when they make everything based on tiers. Cap the “Endless” nature and make tier achievements account bound.
Its obvious the current design was delibrately made flawed in order to drag things out so that hardcore PVE-only players will keep logging in.
Getting sick of trying to figure out what’s bugged or what’s broken with Arah, every month it’s something new or something that was once fixed and is broken again blah blah. Can we have just a simple, which paths are broken i.e. Seers path and why? etc and stickied.
No one will do this because every time you go in there and actually try and play it for the content or dungeon master achievement, it’s usually a waste of time for anything other than P3. The # of tokens should also be boosted given the large time requirements of this place.
Not quitting since there’s no monthly and content wise I think they are a great job. However if they add more and more vertical grind like this (already the ecto cost of the backpiece is ridiculously silly) then I’ll just stop keeping up and the day I start getting left out or start REALLY falling behind is the day I’ll say kitten it, there have been other games neglected because of this.
I’m not entirely against vertical progression but I think they should save the creep for expansions when things will be acquirable without (as much) unnecessarily padded out grind. The acquisition curve for exotics is about right. If they can stick to that with future expansions I’ll remain active.
Anything for those who missed out on some of the Black Friday goodies? in particular I have been wanting to spend a few bucks for transmutation stones but $20 is overkill. A sale would change my mind on that
These guys are a lot more laid back and friendly than most WvW or raiding guilds. Especially compared to my time in the zerg horde of Ruin. That doesnt mean they aren’t coordinated and effective either, this is definitely one of the top 5 coordinated crews in WvW right now and more coverage and help is always appreciated
the 20 slot bag, karka shell, two exotics (yakkington helm and mhenlo shoes) and two rares that got some good ecto salvages from
Attended/Looted/got the mail
At least they are trying. However I looted it with my lvl 46 Warrior at the time not knowing we were going to get precursors but at least this time I felt I got a fair chance at the lvl 80 exotics so imo they did me right
With each transfer it lessens even more. I’d say a little, since Jade Quarry has a fine community, but I’m no longer really putting in those 48 hour shifts to defend our honour and take #1 anymore like I did back in the ET or even NS and FA days
Things are getting worse and worse. I’ve ONLY been able to complete groups like SE using that site. That means potentially reaching out across all servers and STILL having trouble. Interest is getting killed in anything else BUT fractals. I should be attempting CoE story in a few days time, and I’m putting a rush on it especially after seeing this new trend
CoE and SE story were dungeons I’d missed across 4 characters now for various reasons and if this site wasn’t developed, things are bad enough now that if I’d stuck to just my server, even one like Jade Quarry I would have never ever seen that content. Even people using that LFG site and starting now might have trouble and I defintiely don’t envy them.
Game design is the biggest influence on the community, no the people themselves. Arenanet designed a game where everyone could res and help others up (not just healers), and lo and behold everyone was more helpful and nice during the 1-80 game. Dungeons however reflect the opposite, it is a grind forcing people to repeat content long after it’s ceased to be novel and entertaining so naturally people who would not have repeated dungeons because they were actually fun but for gear would want to get it over with as fast as possible and want the best possible chances (80, best geared etc).
I’ve levelled my warrior from 35 onwards essentially exclusively in dungeons and he’s now 72 and have only really had one or two problems getting a group i.e. someone who just left when the found out I was going to do the dungeon with the low level character but basically.. it really doesn’t make much of a difference. What DID make the difference was that I had 3 other 80’s and had ran dungeons on them so I was an experienced player vs a fresher who does not want to know enough to skip and actually WANTS to experience the dungeon as it was meant to be played. Those guys… you’re gonna have problems,. You should have started the game at release like everyone else :P
All this player sniping and going at each other is a result of bad game design that makes the community turn against each other, people are people and the environment will influence behaviour more than most people will credit or admit. This happened in GW1 as well when PVP players were forced to run PVE over and over with multiple characters just to unlock skills. Were we there to actually enjoy the mission for the umpteenth time? no. Were we remotely fun to play with for people who actually did want to play for content? nope. I saw a character named “Oh God Not More PVE” and remember whispering the guy for the great name.
This is seeming to be a trend with Arenanet, their solution to longevity to their games is always to deliberately make bad, grindy decisions such as Fractals levelling instead of tiers because a lot of people are lemmings and will put up with it. If we’re lucky they come in and implement the thing they should have done in the first place i.e. tiers for fractals and cap it’s endless nature which we know is likely coming. First however they do kitten like this to see what they can get away with and what community will put up with when it comes to artificially extending the lifespan of their content
Charr armour. Its taken me to level 70 to finally get a set of decent looking armour. The lvl 70+ crafted armour transformed my Charr warrior into someone with bad posture, and horrible run animation into a warrior-scholar type look. TA armor can also look pretty good on a charr imo for the same reason, but the stats are horrible for melee and essentially would entail getting two sets of exotics. Ended up deciding to go with transmuted cultural T1 as an affordable middle-ground. The main problem is that the charr are supposed to be war-like and imposing yet most of their armour makes them look like the opposite, like unconfident schlepps who don’t know how to dress themselves and only a few sets that properly represent the “force projection” that is everywhere else in charr culture and creations. The charr are guns and spikes bristling, while the armour is the exact kitten opposite most of the time
Wholeheartedly agree and a bump. The short answer you’re looking for is – Planetside 2 lol
Many large-scale hardcore PVP guilds have already left and moved over for that, otherwise normally GW2 wouldn’t be having this problem this fast. It would have been the only game in town for a bit longer till february and the meta would have developed over time beyond portal bombing. I don’t think this is going to happen though from a combination of what the OP mentions + lack of support + culling issues in addition to Planetside.
Knowing ArenaNet they are gonna make getting Ascended gear in WvW a badge grind and essentially have servers agree to farm each other, gear everybody up and THEN play because hey that’s what PVP is about right? What about rewarding badges for stuff that actually win battles, i.e. upgrades, manning siege defense and staying there – not running off to “teh big battles”, and objective takes. Killing other players is only one portion of WvW, and make them automatically awarded not the bag of loot kitten.
Frankly, ArenaNet was LUCKY that Condemned and Titan Alliance were around to keep things as interesting as they did.
They should also consider supporting WvW more as the e-sport entrant for GW2. They need to follow the numbers and activity. The playerbase and community has been way more hardcore about WvW than sPVP plus it offers something unique that no other game does, and it’s something that an entire server can participate in regardless of being “pro” or not. It will be first sport, not just eSport where there is no distinction between a fan vs a pro as all are participants. This should be huge. However looking at ESO, it looks like they will be the ones to perfect this formula and capitalize on it. WvW was has been more inspiration than execution.
sPVP isn’t going to be the e-sport draw they’ve kept fantasising that it will be. Doesn’t have legs, the design is flawed to not support an enduring meta. It was catered towards action and console-gamer style play this time around which helps casual PVE-ers maintain interest in the game but essentially makes PVP this time around about as exciting and enduring as Mass Effect multiplayer
(edited by fathamburger.8453)
Henchmen literally killed GW1 overnight for PVE. They were convenient but when they were introduced, that was pretty much the last time anyone really talked to each other or went on missions with other people anymore. City chat essentially became an auction channel only.
This is not a single player game, I understand the frustration but this is an MMO. It is for playing with other people. They already gave you a 1-80 journey with little forced grouping or social, and imo this was already worse than it should have been
Basically CoE is when I started to feel like things were pushing it because of repeatedly having to do with Subject Alpha and especially the laser cannon fight. HoTW while of similar length is mostly straightforward and just long with bosses that have too much HP but nothing that makes you dread it, much like the umpteenth time Subject ALpha shows up
Yes.. an hr should be about the maximum and every dungeon should at least have a 30 minute casual path so that those guys can make at least minimal progress. No reason to not do so with the DR system implemented.

Nobody wants to run it, and for those willing to brave the difficulty/length and succeed we’d like to be rewarded appropriately.
ESO aka Elder Scrolls Online is coming next year… yes I’ll be in for future free updates but you might as well save your money since like most people.. I will not be buying your expansions just for a reason to grind more dungeons for more useless gear that will be replaced again and so forth.
http://ca.ign.com/videos/2012/11/08/the-elder-scrolls-online-gameplay-video
Unfortunately I had to write what was probably the first piece of bad press that GW2 has ever gotten because of this. I did not enjoy it.
sarcasm ahead
kitten all you casual PVE/PVP whatever noobs. You are not considering ARENANET’S feelings on this. What’s the point of all this if they don’t kill WoW. They are going for #1. WOW KILLER. That’s what GW2 has to be. For this to happen, people have to be playing the GUILD WARS endgame, not the panda endgame. They already have your money already to help establish their credibility, now they want to finish the job. REAL games are designed for progression guilds.
Okay.. sarcasm aside. Just get rid of this whole idea. Expand your game via content and activities, mechanics, different types of dungeons. WvW is hurting for new maps, you could have dungeons that you eventually progress deeper and deeper into (less fractals, more like old EQ style dungeons where you started out courtyard and eventually made it to Lord’s room over time etc). Mechanics wise.. there are some weapon sets/roles not used in the game, for example weapons that are less DPS based and have blocking and defensive mechanics i.e. warrior maces. Make players switch to those + good use of rolls to defeat an encounter.

Grats for caving in to WoW players leaving for MoP for an endgame :P
The big kitten reaming WvW players will take will feel awesome as well
Are the loot/reward upgrades going to be applied to story mode as well? will there be tokens? at this point it is a rarity for anyone who wants to run story mode even in prime time.
I’m expecting (and likely others) that this will also be addressed when you roll in the loot updates come Lost Shores.
This is another case of something that looks simple but is actually fairly complex. The issue is that the same day that I made the fix to this story step, some changes were made to the music system that required an update to all story steps. Unfortunately, this meant that my fixed version was no longer compatible with Live, since it had references to the new audio changes in it, but Live did not have the new changes yet. Ultimately, it was deemed too risky to rush out the new audio changes (since they would affect every story step), which is why this (seemingly minor) fix has been delayed for so long, and why it’s part of a major update, and hasn’t been pushed out with the smaller updates we’ve made since this bug was fixed.
Ugh.. yeah being a coder myself, the confluence of seemingly unrelated code or parts of the project is something I’m all too familiar with. Anyhow thanks for the response.
Ugh.. yeah being a coder myself, the confluence of seemingly unrelated code or parts of the project is something I’m all too familiar with. Anyhow thanks for the response. This is where the fast/casual levelling curve is a disadvantage since a week for other mmo grinders is maybe 5-10 levels but in this game it can mean at least 20-40 levels (or in a friend’s extreme case 1-80).
Another bump.. been waiting for this since level 43. I’m now 60 but that’s also because I’ve been holding off levelling an alt and only doing ori farming while waiting for both this AND the dungeon patch to come in :P
You guys really need a better patch process to put in smaller fixes like this. It’s unacceptable to halt people’s progress for this long (yeah.. almost a month now) for a fix that you’ve basically already done and pushed to source control, yet we get downtimes for stuff like… dye drop rate and candy corn visibility fixes that are not game breaking at all.

I am personally sitting out dungeons and likely GW2 out almost entirely until the loot patch or the content patch goes in. It was fun to experience them content wise but repeating them is really not a good use of time right now.
As far as loot goes I am hoping for yellow and ecto drops. Some high level mats like Ori’s, gossamers etc should be like a fortune cookie bonus too. Perhaps exotics as rares, and runes should have a higher percentage. The SE rune was actually the most useful thing I’ve ever got out of a dungeon since I was running SE for those in the first place,
I also PVP but you don’t have to be so snide about it Phira, plus I never said I was addressing “all” MMO endgame problems, just the ones in this game This half hearted attempt at leaving in some kind of “Grind progression” to keep the attention of the WoW kids isn’t really doing them any favours. The audiences are different and though GW2 could do with some 25-40 man large scale content, it doesn’t neccesarily need the grind associated with that. Again this was marketed as “no grind” or no raid progression game that is starkly different to 1-80, but what they have here is the “get your toes wet” version just to test if this is the direction that they may need to go in like the rest of the market. However they could handle the progression in line with the philosophies established in the rest of the design up to the end game, my point is that they haven’t.
Good call on the trading Xarog, people could essentially either help their friends or still run those dungeons to save up for other characters or future sets
Since I only have one character at level 80, I cannot speak to the end game. But what I have found is all of a sudden I can’t go off exploring unless I am in a group and most often they don’t want to go where I do.
In the higher levels the mobs re-spawn ridiculously fast; so fast in fact, that I can’t even go where I want to within reason because I am so involved with killing them step-by-step. By the time I get to where I wanted to go, the place is overrun and I am dead.
I love exploring and would really like it if there was some explorable version at end-game for folks like me. I would rather explore than fight all the time and doing diplomatic events instead. I would find that very engrossing and rewarding if they offered up Karma and special diplomatic status for completion.
You’ll get to this point like the rest of us Lyn, but yeah.. I did get a bit burned out on endless war related take/retake events by about 50-60
+1 bump.. this is really too important for Anet not to see.
