Let me read the future for your guys…
Anet will remove the AoE cap but also Reduce the AoE radius and Dmg..

Sorry ppl but that’s what will happen you don’t get something for nothing

Maybe they will, maybe not, but honestly who cares. There will be new tactics and those who will be on loosing side will come here again and call everyone cheater/exploiter/etc.

Yesterday I fought against FIRE guild (I’m on BG, don’t remember where they are). They tried turtle/portal tactics. We used counters (not sieges, just character skills) against them and they died many times, BUT … They tried, they were learning by failing and it was fun on both sides I guess.

It’s really shame that instead of trying to find a counter some of you come here (and not just this thread) to QQ like a kids. Honestly, grow up!

This turtling thing is a big issue with no counter.

There is counter, you just don’t know it.

No if it was nearly as bad as they are saying, then 1 aoe class could kill anyone with just a couple of casts.
This is not even remotely true.

Show me aoes doing 5k+ damage that are spammable and continuous.
AoE cap needs to be increased.

I also played DAoC and WAR. You learned to not be bad. You didn’t stack up like a moron.

Organized group of Eles and Necros would kitten you. Removing limit will actually help turtle tactics as well, coz they will have higher dmg.

BlackGate players: the correct response to exploiters that benefit you is not a shrug and an “Oh well, hackers gonna hack” attitude. The correct response is to report your own players. All the generalized blame you are receiving right now is 100% justified.

I keep hearing this argument about killing massive amounts of people with aoes..
Going to have to call BS on this. If aoes aren’t killing solo people worth a kitten (Before they can dodge) what makes you think you’re going to take out armies by yourself?

AoEs are supposed to punish baddies who stack up like a bunch of morons.
This is a broken game mechanic that allows people to stay safe and virtually unkillable while grab each other’s kitten

Remove aoe target caps.

Yet the history from other games with true WvW says otherwise.

There is one more aspect to think bout, if we are talking about AoE limit. AoE limit => less trafic to server => less lagg.

Removing the limit will make Wv3 one big mess.

Not it wont. Limit is there to actually protect you from organized groups to AoE spike everyone nearby. Like i said in the other thread, by removing limit you are actually giving more power to this kind of tactic.

This is not correct. Boons stack is linear and it’s not a value of boon, but duration, compared to dmg and some conditions. There is a max duration too. Turtle is not invincible.

Limit for AoE is there for a reason. It’s not a “known flaw in the AoE mechanics”. It’s there to protect you from serious AoE spike, which you can get from organized groups. Imagine 30-40 ppl AoE spike, THAT would be OP and design flaw imho.

Remove this limit and you will see what is the real power of organized group.

The AoE limit is not the “flaw” I was refering to. It is Using the AoE limit with the Buff/Shout/Invulnerability NON-limit in conjunction with portal mobility. AoE limit was not made to make 40 people invincible in most cases.

Yes, it’s coz lots of boons stack the time, not the value. On the end if you have enough dmg even the turtle will die, but to do that you need organized group on the other side and commander, who knows what to do.

I’m member of MA, which is part of DYES and I died a lot during the weekend. So no, turtle is not invincible.

Agree turtle would Die if it didn’t port every 10 seconds…

Yeah, but for that you need 2 things:
a) lot’s of mesmers, coz recharge on portal is high, we had max 3 iirc and in one point we had just one.
b) to place portal mesmer needs to survive
