hi, can you explain why P/P is bad, I am new and try learn and I heard it was good dps thx

Most of these players speak from a strictly sPvP point of view. From a PvE perspective P/P can be a good and fun way to play.

Ppl need to understand that not every single specc is made for every game mode.

That’s all fine and dandy, but the problem here is that the DE feels it wasn’t made for any game mode. Honestly, i can’t see any scenario where DE would be even remotely useful compared to the tools we already have. It’s different,sure. But should it not be viable as well?

Keep telling yourself that.

Removing one of the grandmaster traits that was in the live stream preview for the thief just before HoT was released without any explanation before the community demanded it i call shady, at the very least. The answers Anet officialy gave us weeks after were just plain ridiculous as well.

This is a thread post that is one year old. That’s right,one year. We were promised by a Game Designer Karl McLain after a huge outcry by the thief community because of the shady removal of the Ricochet trait, and even more questionable reasoning why they did it, that the (still!) sorely needed changes to p/p set are on their way. However, after a year has passed, no information about it was posted how the changes progress, or if they are even still in the works. I follow the official forums pretty regularly, and since the posts here are mainly about sPvP, i know PvP players can’t be less interested in a p/p set. But i,as a hardcore PvE player that would like to experience the pure fun and awesomeness that was Ricochet again, truly hope we were not being misled, and that these changes are still on the way.

Temples in Orr

The BEST solution is to put all temples, like some other maps, on a forced restart and remove the defense completely. Reset them after 2 hours or reset them at every 2-hour time stamp. The fact that a temple can be maintained more than 24-hours straight is BS. IDK how many times I’ve tried to do temple events but was unable because one person wants to defend it.

Agreed. This would most definitely be the best thing to do. However, since Anet did not put the temples on a strict timer when they did so with all the other world bosses ages ago, something tells me they don’t want to do it. Or maybe they can’t,idk. But it baffles me that they did not do anything about this for so long. The current system annoys beyond reason. It’s basically be at the right place at the right time,or come at 3-4 am when there is no one on the map, and try and solo it :/ After enduring this for so long now,i would accept any kind of improvement to this,be it the same loot on def/att, better scaling,or timed resets.

Please,please,PLEASE for the love of God,make the defense events for temples in Orr harder to do and scale better. How is it possible that you only need 1 player (?!) to do the defense event of Lyssa? For people who want/need to do Orr temples for various reasons,it’s a kitten nightmare to wait for hours,and then some random player (who is 90% of the time a new player to the game) comes along and do the defense without any trouble by himself! I beg you,make the defense at least equally difficult,if not more so to do as the taking of the temple,so we can have more resets thru the day. If that’s not the option,than give us the same rewards for defending as well as taking the temple.

Mursaat Token Collection achievement bug

Token number 11 on the list,or “Caliph’s Steps: Under a rock shelf southwest of Twin Skulls and northwest of Sealed Entrance.” is bugged. It is located behind a rock,and if a player keeps relogging at the location (some got to it that way),they get ported underground with loads of invisible walls. I’m pretty sure that rock is not supposed to be there in the first place,unless we are getting trolled on purpose here It’s a annoying bug that prevents the completion of the achievement

P.S. Number 4 and 12 are also still not found,even after considerable player efforts,so maybe check if they are in proper places as well?

Constant crashing [Merged]

Since the patch earlier today,i keep crashing at the Temple of Lyssa location. After the “fixes” it goes now so far that i can’t even log into the game with the character that is left there previously because it crashes a few seconds into the loading screen. Not sure if its the specific location or what,but its very annoying

So we got our staff specc,it looks like it can be beneficial to P/P builds,but still nothing on Ricochet?! Karl,you are without a doubt the worst dev in Anet,you should get fired,completely out of tune with the thief,removing vital traits like its nothing.And then we dont even get a answer from you people WHY did you do it. kitten you dude

My contention is that they need to buff Vital Shot and convert Unload into a cone AoE.

I was always wondering why is my Vital shot being fired only from my right hand pistol. Would it not make sense to use both pistols for it? If anyone know Lucian from LoL,that’s what i mean

I do agree on this,but what im saying is,if they keep doing it,it will end badly for Anet,and i hope they are aware of this.

And I’m saying that Anet, being a for profit company, will go towards the players that give them money no matter what, and there’re a lot already of such players on this game which will keep Anet afloat for quite some more time.

It will not end badly for them if a portion of players (not the majority) will leave the game because it’s dumbed down every other day.

Well,i haven’t seen them going firmly in that direction yet. Sure,they put out and occasional item in the Gem store,and i don’t see how that is a bad thing. I myself bought a few thousand gems for real money,and i bet a lot of other ppl that are equally disappointed with this patch have as well(before it went live). So,they WILL lose money if they go in that direction.I don’t think that a majority of people currently playing the game are “brainless”. And so far,whenever Anet made a huge mistake (like the one with the pre-purchase of HoT) they openly admitted it,and i hope they admit this one too.

Since day one, we saw a steady decline of build variety (this new trait system is a huge step back from the previous one, they just didn’t want to try and fix it seriously, listening to what good players said in all this time), and a parallel steady increase of passive effects, which kill more and more the gameplay aspect of GW2.

And it’s a shame, because the foundations of the gameplay were interesting and original.

I do agree on this,but what im saying is,if they keep doing it,it will end badly for Anet,and i hope they are aware of this.

And it’s not even certain that we will get rifle. In fact, some data-mined artwork was found that suggests that we’re getting a staff, which means Ricochet might be gone for good.

I think you’re missing the point. We’re not saying that it can’t dish out good damage. We’re saying that Ricochet provided much needed AoE mob damage, which is very important in PvE where you are primarily encountered by mobs.

That kind of damage is nice and all, but it won’t get you very far in places like Silverwastes where you really need to be able to attack more than one enemy.

You misunderstand me. This was just to prove a point to people who say p/p was not viable ever. I agree completely on the Ricochet issue,that it robes us of much needed AoE with this build. This screenshot was taken quite some time ago.

It was bad even with Ricochet. They need to take a good hard look at the weapon set and actually make it viable. Or, if they don’t feel like it, just slap tons of damage on it and be done with it.

p/p was very viable if you knew how to play it.Along with traits like Ricochet it was darn right amazing at certain fights. Removing it just makes p/p much less viable in PvE because we don’t get the AoE from it,and the great synergy it had with Signet of Malice,and that automatically makes us much more vulnerable.Points are being made again and again that every other ranged weapon have some sort of AoE,be it piercing,bouncing,or something else.We don’t want anything special that makes us overpowered,we just want what we already had back.And with the Feline Grace trait turned to rubbish,it only gets worse.

I didn’t say they were good answers.

I do hope they can do better then that. I know they can,but it seems they don’t want to.Or don’t care to. And that is what annoys me. Removing a trait,and one that was very important not just for a p/p build,but from what i hear other builds as well,just like that. With those lame “answers” as the only explanation. I don’t and won’t accept that,and Anet risks of disappointing a very large amount of their players if they keep it at that.

So Anet decides to just remove Ricochet without any reason behind it,and we don’t even get an answer why they did it. Some people argue that the new specialization for a thief will be a ranged/sniper specc and that Ricochet will return there,but i honestly don’t see why i need to pay 50 dollars to get something back that i already had and just to return to the status quo.And what if this isn’t the case?What if they have no intention of giving it back to us? This is a serious slap in the face for all thieves that were using and loving this trait. If i didn’t (to my regret) already pre purchased HoT,i would have never done so with this new patch.

And now the Feline Grace trait…Dear God,i can’t even begin to express how useless this thing is now. Thieves are supposed to be quick and nimble,and with our already low Hp pool it was only natural that we had that one extra dodge then the rest of the professions.Now Anet took that away as well.
For someone like me that was using a p/p thief build with the old Feline Grace trait,this is more then game breaking. It makes me want to quit the game. I don’t understand why we took such a big hit,and why isn’t Anet answering our desperate pleas for help! Make me understand,Anet! Please!

The thing that annoys me the most is the complete silence of Anet on this serious issue! What the hell,at the very least tell us something! Tell us that this was a mistake on your part,or that you did remove it with a purpose in mind for something special,don’t annoy and anger so many of your players? Do something,for God’s sake!
Oh.and off-topic,Feline Grace trait is complete rubbish now!

Seriously Anet? You just remove the trait? Just like that,you don’t even say the reason behind it? Ricochet was one of (if not the most) important trait for a p/p build! It gave us that little bit of AoE that was sorely needed while still being able to pull a decent amount of dmg! Oh,but wait…you gave us that useless traits like Signets of Power and Hidden Killer in Critical Strikes line. That must make it ok! Give ricochet back,that’s all i have to say to that kitten who thought removing it was a good idea
