Here is the issue….PvE IS the game; PvP and WvW are sidebars to keep groups entertained (to a degree).

The PvE Raids were intended to be top tier, challenging end game content (as described by ANet) – with top tier rewards to go along with them. To receive the rewards being discussed (Legendary Armor) significant invest of time, skill and gold (food and gear) had to be exerted – and over the course of a year and a half of raiding people earned the requirement to begin ACQUIRING the necessary components to begin creating the legendary armor.

Most raiders invested heavily in multiple sets of ascended gear whereas most WvW players are running around in exotics or less. PvP requires NO investment at all as your gear is given to you free.

I stated previous that I feel it is all well and good for the other game types to receive top tiered rewards, however it sounds that little to no investment is going to be required to begin creating this armor – significantly devaluing the PvE set. As a caveat – I am not about the flash, and am more excited about the ability to stat swap.

WvW (for the most part) is a blob fight where you try and overwhelm your opponent with numbers, whilst trying to tag as many people as possible for the loot. I see arguments here about the cost that the WvW players will have to bear as you cannot earn enough gold in WvW – then get out of WvW, stop being lazy and play the game the like the rest of had to do to EARN our armor (and with that the ability to stat swap).

I see arguments here about the PvP being less elitist than raiders????
I have never been engaged with a saltier bunch of people than the PvP players in NA (I can’t speak for EU.) Encounters with PvP players have been some of the most toxic ever experienced.

There are always raid groups trying to teach people how to raid – what the mechanics are, how to optimize your build and rotation, etc.

Comments here have irked me be stating that “PvE got a legendary trinket” – NO!…the game got a legendary trinket and if you don’t want to leave your niche to obtain it then that’s on you – not a snub to PvP or WvW.

I thought the whole reason that you could stat swap ascended gear was to give it flexibility at a cost – whilst the legendary was a front-loaded cost allowing you to stat swap for free (this goes for the legendary weapons as well)

Until the acquisition specifications for the WvW and PvP legendary armor are released I cannot wholly pass personal judgement on the implementation, however at this juncture I feel this is a poor move Arena Net!

Everything in this post screams " But mom they cant have the same toys as me I’m special, take it away from them"

Adding an armor set to other sides of the game doesnt devalue anyone, it means more people can get an armor set with a function to it.

Pve’rs still have nice little achievements that they can wear around LA and pretend that they matter.
Pve’rs will still have the armor that looks terrible unless you mix it with other things
Pve’rs will still be able to discriminate against players and classes and have excuses to feel superior in a game mode that takes very minimal thought process to do and learn.

Nothing about your legendary armor changes, and the time it takes for anyone that plays this game casually to acquire legendary armor is probably going to be the same through-out the game minus 1-2 days.

So chill out, put on your big boy pants and do what you tell other people to do, suck it up or don’t play.

I swear instead of being happy for other people in the community the raid/hardocre pve’rs are showing their toxic colors. ( kinda like some pvp’rs, guess the toxic lounge is big enough for the both of you)
This is why some people didn’t want a raid community to begin with.

It’s an armor function, that is open to the rest of the game to earn. If you don’t like it, take your self entitlement out the door before the next xpac, I promise no one will notice.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this on, but in my humble opinion, I think that adding the same sigil/infusion swapping to legendary weapons as the armor, back pieces, and trinkets have is not only a good idea, but an almost necessary one now. I mean, there are certain sigils out there that are more expensive, by far I might add, then an entire set of 6/7 runes. It just makes sense IMO. For example, you have a weapon with power stats on it and, let’s say, a force sigil. Next you stat swap to a condi build and need an entirely new set of infusions/sigils to go with that. As it is right now, if you wanna do that you have to just destroy the 10g force sigil, and that gets old very quickly. Not to mention the concentration sigils that range between 50-100g so….Like I said I hope this is the right forum to express my concerns/suggestions, but if not , redirecting me to the right one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work.

So, I guess my question would be, is there ANY indication of, or any hope of, getting these new abilities for the weapons that the armor, trinkets, and back pieces already have?

I was SOOOOO mad when you guys added the grandmaster marks system to making the ascended pvp sets. I had worked so hard and played so many games of pvp to get my ascended shards, I thought that what you guys did was great adding a way for pvpers (I play all, but just saying) to get legit ascended gear. Then the update hit, and i thought you guys had RUINED it, and thought i would never spend the now thousands of ascended shards of glory i have. I don’t usually find out about updates and such until they happen, which I’ve really tried to work on because of all the times I’ve been totally blindsided by an update that sucks. Because up until that update, I was one of the ones that decided to “save up” til I could get a full set, not knowing that you guys were adding the “marks” system, only to then find out I had to also craft something, taking away my ability/desire to use the shards. But i have to say, this MORE then makes up for the marks system. Obviously depending on how we will have to make the armor, i say this is a great job by you guys. Cuz even though i worked my butt off to get the one set of legendary armor i have, i would like to have a set for each of my chars. Of course, w/ the precursor armor being a one shot deal, and having to craft it plus the gifts, the current armor takes at minimum 6 months per set, if you clear 13/13 raid bosses each week. Now i might actually be able to realize the dream of a legendary armor set on each char. Sorry for the lengthy comment, just wanted to say great job.

i totally understand why you guys are making these changes especially since with the last pwer food nerf condi is so much stronger then pwer right now (which don’t get me wrong, it’s so much fun to play condi on a class that i’m used to playin as pwer… thief and rev for example) but I literally JUST made stacks of rare veggie pizza and toxic focusing crystals, so that just… sucks ;/

I’m checking on this situation again right now. I’ve asked a few questions of our team and of our Network Operations Center to verify that this is resolving in NA and EU, as an e-mail at 7:57 AM PST seemed to indicate.

In the meantime, can you share your experience right now? Are you able to log in to the game? If not, could you please note your general location?

Thanks very much for your patience and understanding while we worked on this problem and continue to investigate the matter.

After waiting all day, still shows connection error message, but after a few retries it finally connects to the log in screen and let’s me get on. I’m in France (on an NA server if that makes a difference). So everything seems to be fine over here, or at least getting there. Thanks.

Not that you need ANOTHER person saying ‘same here’, but I am getting the connection error message as well. Internet is fine, obviously or I wouldn’t be able to send this post. Tried some of the other fixes mentioned and nothing works for me atm… I played last night til almost reset, then haven’t been able to get in since 8am server time. Thanks ANET hope this info helps you fix the problem.

Build Templates Like in the Original GW

I’m sure I’m not the only one who came from GW1 to say this, but one of the best features there was that we could save build templates and load them immediately when we wanted to change builds. I know that weapons make up your first 5 skills, but that doesn’t mean you couldn’t save changes for Traits and the other 5 skills. I understand that GW1 had a ton more skills to choose from, including secondary classes, but what with legendary back items, armor, and weapons, people are needing to change their builds more and more these days, so if it’s not already being worked on, it should be. As with my previous post, I hope that some Devs see this, but again, if not, if you agree with this get the messages out there. Arena Net makes changes all the time, I don’t see why they can’t do a couple more.

Leg. Armor Rune System for Leg. Weapon Sigils

While I think I can speak for everyone that the rune/infusion system for legendary armor is great. However, Sigils are just as expensive, sometimes even more so then runes, and if you have a legendary weapon I feel like you should be able to swap sigils w/o destroying them just like with the runes on the legendary armor. For example, it’s great that you can swap stats, but what’s the point if you swap stats and can’t change the sigil w/o destroying it. Let’s say your weapon has some form of power stats and you’re using a power sigil like force or air for example, then you swap your build to a condi build, changing the stats on the weapon. You need a totally different rune setup. That goes for everything from healing to boons and support. IDK if this has been discussed before or not, but this change could drastically improve the game, and give everyone more incentive to actually get more legendary weapons. I hope some Devs see this, but if only players do pls get the message out there. We need to speak together to get changes that we want in this game.

Am I the only one that thinks the change in price is a bit ridiculous? If I did my math correctly, then aside from the ascended shards of glory, it went from costing ~2gold for an armor set to costing roughly 300gold. (I only added it up for heavy armor)

Had we been given any significant warning of the change, I would see no inherent problem with it, as it revalues the gear similar to regular crafted gear. The problem I have with it is that the first mention of it seems to be 5 days ago. Is it too much to ask that a 15,000% price hike be given more than 5 days notice? It is the equivalent of announcing that in 5 days, all precursors were going to jump in price to roughly 100,000 gold.

The irony of it is that I was saving those ascended shards to use after this balance patch, because I didn’t want to make the same mistake again where I geared up a Revenant in ascended gear only to have it nerfed into oblivion. Now the currency that I planned to use has been nerfed into oblivion.

My recommendation, if Anet is listening, is to revert the change in price ONLY until the next PVP season starts, and more Ascended shards of glory are brought into the game. You’ve devalued an account bound currency while it was sitting in everyone’s wallets, rather than devaluing the next wave of incoming currency.

TLDR: Please hold off on making my Ascended Shards of Glory worthless until I can spend the ones I have.

No you are not alone that’s for sure! I just posted the following in the PVP section of the forum but thought i’d post it in as many areas that are applicable.

I’m sorry, because I’m usually VERY on board with everything that Arena Net does. However, this thing with the new items required to buy the PVP Ascended Armor is unbelievably straight up BS! If I would’ve known I would’ve bought a whole set (or as much as I could’ve) beforehand.

I worked hard to earn the shards of glory and the new currency from the league season, and now I’m asked to basically CRAFT it like I’m crafting ascended armor normally (at a “slight discount” according to Arena Net officials, which is again BS… LOL it raises the price CONSIDERABLY). Again, I say, BS!

I’m sorry but I know that I’m not the only one feeling this way. This was an unnecessary change and should be rectified, although I doubt it will be. Unfortunately, if it stays as it is, that means I will NEVER buy the new PVP armor, that’s a guarantee I can make, and it’s too bad because the original way was a GREAT WAY for PVP players to obtain full sets of ascended gear, and now that’s been taken away.

I can understand them doing it in fractals, as you already have the chance to get ascended boxes just by playing, but in PVP it is absolutely a slap in the face.

Sorry for the rant, but it needs to be said, as I know others feel the same, and will voice the same opinions as me. Maybe we can get a change, as low as the odds are that that will happen, but I implore Arena Net to at least give it some thought.
