This is based on a complaint I read that dynamic events are fun, but not rewarding.
Here is an idea
Maybe have some sort of barter reward for dynamic events? As in doing events in Kyrta gives you a currency that can only be spent in Kyrta for cosmetic stuffs? Lets say you only get the currency for the first time you complete any given dynamic event in the region, and it resets once a week?
So a couple weeks of questing in Kyrta would net you a full cosmetic set to dress as a seraph, which would make lore sense right? You could also have some other unique stuff, maybe pets, emotes, stuff like that, which would appeal to all levels.
Or how about a consumable that is like “rally the seraph” where anywhere in open world PvE you can call up a trio of seraph for 5 minutes to help you. Basically cashing in the favors they owe you. Of course each region would have their own appropriate version.
These are ideas that would incentivize event participation without changing anything in PvP of WvW, appealing to all levels, and not really doing anything to balance.
In my experience the only real big solid benefit to longbow over rifle is the ability to set yourself up for combos, I mean drop your F1, then put 3 in there for a few stacks of might, the switch to melee for burning bolts or fire aura or both if your fast enough. A hoard of on level enemies are just mowed down like grass.
The rifle would gain incredible versitility if it had just one move to set up a combo field. I admit that I can’t think of a good “in character” idea off the top of my head, but that is what the rifle needs to get me to use it for anything other than PVP
After three days of trying to complete this event chain, I finally got to see it through to the end last night and I gotta say, that was awesome. It started as a trickle, just me and the seraph, then a couple more players showed up, and our numbers both in NPCs and players just grew and grew as we made the push, until we had maybe 20-25 players and at least a dozen NPCs there for the final fight, with giant earth elemental arms and the Centaur king and all that.
Sorry to nerd out here, but hats off to the dev team, that was incredibly epic and cool and all done in a fluid and living fashion without any quest hubs. If this game has a lot more of that, I am looking forward to the next 40 levels.
So I saw a few discussions questioning the purpose of the Kick for a class that is all about in your face combat. For melee mode, I guess I agree, but with a rifle, this is incredibly useful.
So running around with a rifle, kick, and a bolas, I have a knock back and cripple on the rifle, and a knock back and root with my utility skills. I haven’t tried it in PvP, but in PvE it’s great, no single foe can close with me, and even with miltiple mobs i have enough tools to keep them off me, and in PvP I can’t imagine it wouldn’t also be cool.
Plus I can weapon swap out to an off-hand sword and use 4 to plant a heavy bleed on my target, or dash in and use F1 for those bleeds, then back to the rifle.
Maybe I just don’t see the weakness cause I’m new, but that seems like a killer combo to me.
