It looks like you’re suffering from the rollback, where they somehow took you back to an earlier state of your game. For me everything was reversed – including explored areas of the map being restored to unexplored. It’s incredible that they can allow something like that to happen, especially as this problem has occurred before. I reported it 2 months ago and they don’t seem to have done anything about it.
Here’s a consolation: you would have been rolled back even if you hadn’t been dropped. I logged out normally and first time I went back after the patch everything had recently done got wiped. It they just warned us we are doing a patch soon, I would stop playing to make sure I didn’t waste my time. It’s totally demotivating.
It might be worth checking you haven’t lost other things. I lost everything I did in play the evening before the patch. It was the same as loading up an earlier version of my savegame.
I can tolerate almost any bug but not this. I just don’t feel like playing the game any more knowing that the first few hours are going to be wasted getting back to where I was before the rollback. I am going to downgrade my 5 star reviews on Amazon and metacritic.
I had the same problem and I agree it is extremely annoying – enough to make me reconsider whether I want to play the game at all. I just lost all of my progress from this evening’s playing. Even my rewards for completing the day’s achievements had gone and a difficult event I had completed single handedly was now marked as an unexplored area on my map. I didn’t even get kicked off. I finished playing and logged out normally so how on earth can they lose everything?
What makes it doubly annoying is that the same thing happened to me 2 months ago and I reported it but they don’t seem to have done anything about it.
