It´s just sad to see former pro players trolling in the forums.
The only “successful” game mode GW2 ever had is going to stay. There’s other things for you to do than to play the thing you dislike so, try that.
With all due respect, this talking point is absurd. Conquest is the only “successful” game mode GW2 ever had because it’s the only game mode that ArenaNet has ever made any effort to support.
Courtyard had the potential to be good, but they never properly supported it with its own queue and they just tacked it onto the map rotation. It’s still just sitting there, exactly in the same form it launched in. They’ve done literally nothing to it.
Stronghold also had the potential to be a good game mode, and it arguably still does. Simplify the game mode and streamline the gameplay experience. Get rid of the supply runs and the trebuchets, and just have critters leave the base at an interval with players fighting over the hero spawns to swing the match in their favor. But instead they’ve just done nothing. Just like Courtyard, aside from adjusting a few overtime mechanics, Stronghold is literally in the same exact state it launched in. People bought Heart of Thorns on the implication that the PvP area of the game would grow and ArenaNet has literally nothing to show for it almost two full years later.
Instead we just see more and more Conquest maps like Skyhammer, Revenge of the Capricorn, and Eternal Coliseum being added over the years that very few enjoy and even fewer want in the ranked rotation. Let me reiterate: people HATED the original Skyhammer, and yet ArenaNet has spent YEARS revising it and now forces us to play it in RANKED PvP.
They’ve even dedicated development time to working on kittening Spirit Watch, a complete garbage fire of a map, adjusting its orb mechanics. The fact that ArenaNet hasn’t made any meaningful progress with Courtyard/Stronghold by mid-2017 is pretty much indefensible at this point, because they seem to have dedicated their attention to pretty much everything else, including stripping out the Mystic Forge from Heart of the Mists and designing, re-designing, and re-designing again the lobby.
I really thought this 2v2 announcement was the first moment that ArenaNet finally listened to its fan base, but I guess that was a mistake on my part. I suppose I’ll just be doing occasional automated tournaments and spending the majority of my time in WvW moving forward.
It’s really a shame, because Guild Wars 2 could still be that dominant PvP MMO they originally envisioned it as if they just dedicated the resources to it. ArcheAge, BDO, ESO, WoW … they all have terrible PvP by comparison, gated either behind an arduous grind/vertical progression or suffering from old/floaty/awkward gameplay mechanics.

Stronghold is the last thing in the world they should spend dev time at. It’s a failed attempt at copying mobas for an MMO.
Stronghold is PvP for PvE players. PvE players are better off with pure PvE content and PvP players benefit more from new maps and PvP gamemodes. Stronghold has no target audience, or at least not more than a few dozen players.
These forums make me facepalm so very, very hard.
We get exciting news: people have been asking for a scoring change, a rewards update and an improved UI in WvW for ages now. And hey, they’re finally coming! And what’s our response? A thread full of complaints. Do you now see why Reddit is the go-to place for the devs over these forums? The toxicity is unbelievable.
Yes, I know there’s still much more they could do to make WvW the ideal gamemode with its full potential, balance- and otherwise. But it’s far from what the everyday whiners claim it to be. To me and many, many others I know, WvW is still the top gamemode and we have fun all the time, because we make our own fun instead of furiously typing complaints every single day. If there’s nothing positive or constructive to say, why bother saying it?
We got some wonderful news today, and personally I’m super hyped for it! WvW is an amazing game mode, and now it’s getting even better. Thank you Anet for making this update, it’s great.
And if someone’s feelings got hurt here, I apologize. I simply wanted to express my frustration over these once-so-friendly forums, that seem to have become a very negative environment. Every game update we receive gets shot down and more demands are being presented. If you truly are so unhappy with the game and the updates, maybe it’s time to try something else.
That’s my two cents, now I’m off to Reddit. Byeeeeee~

OP wants traitline about mobility not have anything to do with mobility.
OP wants an icd on an ability that is another, among many, overly bloated abilities for thief. Spamming dodges to break immobilizes when thieves multiple means to do so is unhealthy for balanced gameplay.
OP doesn’t realize the last 2 balance patches have seen nerfs to Thieves Evades and Endurance regeneration.
It’s funny the complaints are coming from someone that plays a class with on demand access to Resistance Spam which negates all movement impairing effects.
What’s funny is I play every single profession in this game, more than most of you. When classes that have a minimal way of gaining distance from a thief and he just random kittenollolol dodges out of it, you’ll begin to recognize the broken nature of dash. I can be objective in my criticism of abilities.
Also, I don’t know where you’re getting that I play something with on demand resistance spam as my profession.
Oh no, how dare a class that can’t hold point nor tank/support team to save their lives be good at moving around the map! Blasphemy!
having a small icd on immobilize break on dodge wouldnt affect how fast you can move around the map. it just affects how easily you can reset a fight.
There is already a CD on how many Immobs that can be cleansed, this is called endurance regen…….. and since the last couple patches Thieves have had their endurance regen nerfed significantly. Just saying,

if you look at dps of all classes,you will find out that power war needed BUFF and not NERF. powerfull synergy is trash and its useless.
Are you talking about pve where things just sit still and eat damage? If so, what does it matter if you don’t contribute an equal amount to whatever damage sponges you’re trying to kill?
In pvp/wvw though, no, berserker didn’t (and doesn’t) need a damage buff.

I don’t see the problem here. Just about every class got sustain nerfs. We knew this was coming. Anet specifically stated when they rolled out the sigil changes that it would come with some sustain nerfs. Just about every also had their damage toned down a bit. Really, it’s a great patch, but I feel like people are so focused on what happened to their class specifically that they are missing the big picture.
I am 100% sure they didn’t play/test their game.
Even if run once time in their(designer) mind.
Well this is nice, the hate is starting to shift from DH to Rev. I was wondering what class people were going to cry about next was. I lost though, cause my bet was on Warrior.
Love the patch though. With the overall reduction in damage and sustain, my Symbolic DH feels even better to play. Haven’t checked up on how my Ranger, Engi, and Necro are doing yet though.
It looks like reliance on passive skills is taking a reduction as well as skill activation in a linear fashion; players may actually have to consider strategy and effective timing. Players won’t be able to rely(as much) on an OP class skill/trait set to carry them past their fluttery button mashes. Oh god, what have you done Anet!
Lol, all these people quitting the game when sustain and damage was nerfed across the board. Something they promised to do months ago.
I can’t even. When people figure out where the meta settles I doubt things will be as dire as some people are claiming.
we had this MM in place during season 2 and 3. and the MMR HELL believers called it STACKING. because they get place w/ other newbies in the same team and start having lose streak. (unfair for them not to get carried by good players i guess) some say they just wanna win to feel good. (wtf) but once again anet listen to the cries. its the same people who will argue that division doesnt mean anything yet they cry out not getting out of bronze or silver.

It is only easy against players that don’t know, how to deal with a dh. Which might be the majority. But why would you encourage players to whine on the forums to get something nerfed, instead of learning how to deal with it?
