Killed an Anet guy?

My girlfriend somehow got the achievement last year. I wasn’t that excited when she told me there was an Anet guy on the other team. As I couldn’t really imagine her being able to follow my instructions over ts without getting wiped first & claiming that almost “mythical achievement” (I was somewhere else at the time & only on ts).

I’m gonna have to tell her off (again!!!) ;-)

I have been using (3x differrent monitors) with a custom 3840×1024 resolution for about a year and have had really good experience with it both in PvE and WvW (also huge zerg fights). Gotta tweak settings for it to work smoothly in those big number situations naturally. (i5-4460 & RX580). The feeling you get when gliding is amazing :-)

There is a command line argument for triple monitor use:
-uispanallmonitors (spreads user interface across all monitors in a triple monitor setup.)

It gives a larger HUD UI, however I prefered the HUD on the middle monitor only (default gw2), as I got tired constantly looking to the sides to read team chat spam etc. But then the text becomes too small, you can tweak UI options to Large & that helps a little.
But now with those superwide single monitor solutions becoming popular I hope Anet develops a way to scale the UI on the frontal area only (not spread out to the sides). Almost like a “3 monitor simulated on a single monitor kinda thing” for UI scaling issues. Perhaps there is already?

Vote to Delete Servers!! Make new Worlds!

An issue that unbalances teams & server population severly are the “Fair Weather players” . They will login & boost your winning streak by a whopping extra +30% in games when you are already winning (a rough estimate). They dont actually help in flipping the coin to score the first win though, and they dont come at all if the server isnt winning. To put it simply: They help winners win and help losers lose. They are a totally useless but large chunk of a servers popluation. I’ve seen NPC Guards do more for a server than those guys, its ridiculous.

When the going gets rough, they will be quick to logout. Thats when you often start losing big as the enemy is prepared to meet your winning team plus those extra +30% & perhaps you get to see another t1 server crashing down through the tiers again.

It’s very easy to blame PUGs, however its incorrect. We have witnessed many times “top tier fight guilds” logout when outclassed on the battlefield with even numbers. Obviously, repeatedly losing is frustrating (for everyone).

Alot of longterm wvw players dont play primarily to win. Its about enjoying the competition, sportsmanship & excitement (though I don’t mean by playing wreckless). But, that usually means I will go do something else if we are dominating too much (alot of younger players dont understand that part).

If we want to play football, we need 2 opposing teams. We know we arent really enemies, but notice its more exciting when evenly matched. There’s not much excitement in walkovers, even though technically a win. Welcome to “the green room” ;-)

In “zerker only tiers” the zerg that pushes first wins & the enemy gets rekt in 5 seconds :-) Thats easy participation and that could be how they actually evaluated the decay rates.

Roamers & players during offpeak hours!? Outrageous! They should lock all wvw maps during non primetime hours. (sarcasm)

The repair function only checks the actual big GW dat file, but you have another dat file (I presume its a type of local computer cfg cache type file that just grows over time) in your \AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2 called Local.dat. Rename that file, and a new one will be created next time you run GW2. This has been known to fix a few things too, unsure what types of things though.

The Sound Of Siege WvW

I agree they should perhaps make more sound categories, seems alot of stuff was just shoved into Enviromental without actually being a correct term.

Did some analysis of the siege. Siege weapons have atleast 2 main sounds assosiated with it, but those 2 main sounds are usually in 2 seperate sound categories! Usually 1 sound comes from the siege itself as “triggering/reload” sound (Effects), then the actual structural damage impact (Enviromental) and also explosions if any (Effects).

In short, siege weapons with no explosion blasts but that deal structural concussive damage to a structure will categorize the main hitting sound under Enviromental! LOL.

Result: If you mute Enviromental sounds in wvw, you wont hear the enemy ramming the gate you are standing next to (heh), or trebs/catapults impacting on the nearby walls, etc. If you mute Effects, but keep Enviromental sounds on, you can hear siege weapons much better! This is the result, but I presume not actually the devs intention.

I can’t seem to come up with a reason to have those in 2 seperate categories really. Because you would usually want both those sounds active when in gaming mode, and listed easily under a single Effect category.
[Perhaps a Siege Weapon & Structural DMG sound category would be a good idea, useful for the game. ] Sound categories should be used for game logic & ease of use (whenever possible), and not the actual physical real world sound categories its trying to simulate.

It would be so much more pleasant & useful if placable siege weapon sounds were categorized under “Effects” instead of “Enviromental” sounds.
There are occassions when you want to mute all those excessively loud enviromental noises [bird chirping (Lost Precipice), rain (Green wvw/eotm teams), wind and ofcourse the annoying waypoint hum we all been hearing since 2012], but we still want to hear siege weapons triggered near our location.
Although it’s debatable whether it is an enviromental sound or not, it is only triggered by players in wvw which is the most important factor imo.

WvW rank affecting earning pips

Anet rewards loyal players for their dedication, this is nothing new and shouldn’t come as a surprise. One can only imagine low ranked players and casual wvw players complaining about this. Players have fought hard and long hours to get those high ranks, they deserve benefits for their efforts & for keeping wvw alive.

A few in my guild have been complaining about getting higher ranks as this leads to being focused alot more in wvw. So i’m glad rank will now have some meaningful reason to level beyond 1k.

Plus, look at it like this… THE REWARDS ONLY GETS BETTER! :-)

World Bonuses Are Bugged!

Cleaning the temp files and running a repair seems to of fixed it, also notice a few updated gfx textures, so the data file has probably been partially corrupt.
A bunch of my contacts have transferred recently so that would be the reason they lack the bonuses. Nevertheless remarkable coincidence, but i suppose that can happen.

I have checked and double checked with several other people (both US/EU).
It appears that the world bonuses everyone gets from WvW score performance are completely missing and has been missing for atleast 1 week! [Flap #2 on the wvw popup menu, at the bottom].

Looks like there’s a total of 8 different bonuses, and this affects almost every game mode. Everyone is really squishy compared to their normal performance.

Old vs New Trait System, Viability.

I totally agree with the general idea to try to revert back to something more like the old trait system. It was so much more fun and had so much more variables to play about with.

When you wanted to slack about for a few days it was nice to just be able to mess around for days with new build ideas. These days we are kinda forced to logoff completely and do something else because there’s not many alternative build ideas that we can play about with that can work out well in the intended game mode

PS: This topic was also on my mind lately since I’m kinda bored in game atm, and I was going to post some ideas about the good old trait system vs new trait system on these forums… but you did that for me (my laziness paid off lol ty).

If you ever seen YB just flipping the same t1 towers for hours on end, you see the problem with the old system. These new changes I think will promote a more dynamic and strategic wvw gameplay, you can’t just be ninja flipping t1 towers for much points anymore, you’ll also have to be more effective at reducing the enemies point income.

ANet and the case of Insider Trading

Members of the community have been looking into this for over a year, and several times the gathered data has indicated that there is a small number of players that start price regulating items before any patch changes have been announced to the public.

There are a few guilds that have close ties to people working for Anet (cant avoid that prolly), but a few guilds even made certain changes in guild strategies/equipment that coincidently made alot more sense when reading fansites & patch notes released a week later ;-)

But there definately are leaks, and I am sure Anet are aware of it. However, it doesn’t seem to be a big problem, but some guys are getting really rich by price regulating before everyone else gets a chance, over the years it all adds up to huge vaults of ingame currency. That leads to inflation and that leads to the development of stupidly high priced guild halls (for example :-)

I recall a few years back a guy was doing the same thing on another server…. BUT, he wasn’t actually trolling or a spy, he was trying to get the wvw build achievement (lol he had over 20k ap iirc). We told him to plz use a camp instead… and to our surprise he went to a supply camp and built lots of rams there instead… lol yah that player was kinda wierd.

But tbh, BG doesn’t really need siege trolls to take other servers stuff. In any case, alot of us on BG would be clearly disappointed if it was really easy to cap and be angry at the siege troll / spy instead.

It’s easy to forget that the fun we all have in wvw is in the fighting action itself, and not actually the outcome of those fights.

I found the bug(s)

1. The first static defense trait only gives +20 toughness instead of the listed +120 toughness. 100 is missing… this is what you noticed on your armor. Cosmetic only perhaps? (did not test)

2. Warriors health pool has been reduced by around 1000 since the “small patch” yesterday, bug or intended stealth nerf?

I see the patch notes do say something about attribute adjustments when scaling, however something is bugged… at least for warriors.
