You just got bootleg canthan ticket copies instead of genuine ones.

Seriously, though, people messing around with item codes discovered most items had chinese names and if they were linked to someone that person’s items would also get infected with chinese AIDS until logout. Sometimes this bug has been popping up on its own for some items. A logout should cure this.

Ghastly Longbow particle effect bug

This bug has been there since launch, and I’m starting to suspect that it might be intended, but still.

The particle effect of the bow disappears completely if the bow is fired and doesn’t reappear unless the bow is either reequipped completely(not swapped) or the zone is changed. In addition, when this bow is seen wielded by the ascalonian ghosts, the particle effect comes in pulses instead of being constant.

It’s one of my favourite LB skins, and I’d appreciate if you took a look at it.

This is a common misconception. The STAT gap is minimal. The exotic item’s impossibility to have infusions and counter agony is huge. The new dungeon is the only place where agony is incflicted FOR NOW, but things will change.

They haven’t developed a whole new system to use it only in the fractals. We’ll see agony in many upcoming patches.

This. Even better – it won’t be agony, but it’ll work similarly, and you will need new infusions to counter it every time.

Chris’ new post implies getting a legendary before was “progression”.

Well guess what, it wasn’t. Like everything else, it was a completely optional skin.

Nothing in that post told us why exactly we need gear progression and why we couldn’t keep it just in new skin form. Not to mention “we won’t add a new tier every 3 months” doesn’t mean “we won’t add a new one ever”. So far it goes against every quote Colin Johanson, Mike O’Brien and others made on gear not so long ago.

And what about level scaling? You already utterly destroy everything in low-level zones if you’re in exotic gear, what will full ascended do? Just something to think about in the future.

Why remove it from Rampage as One though? I feel like it’s acceptable for an Elite skill – they’re supposed to be your “press X to awesome” button with a long CD.

I agree that I start feeling useless in groups without a warhorn though. A bit. Doesn’t stop me from not using it.

[Merged] New Patch: Big shortbow downgrade.

Shortbow range is 900, longbow range is 1200.

It’s 900 for thieves, for rangers both are 1200. See for yourself.

But the vulnerability part is true, I stand corrected. However, it’s still not enough to make it viable.

Also, there are a lot of situations – namely, most parts of every single dungeon – when you’re not able to gain enough range to have full power longbow autoattack – or are forced to move closer due to various mechanics and aoes.

I like the greatswords, actually, even if their damage is subpar. Coupled with skills like Signet of Stone(traited to affect you as well), and Quickening Zephyr a ranger can hold off one or several tough enemies for considerable amount of time.

Block is always relevant – it can block AoEs as well, SoS will let you survive power attacks(if any), and the 1 skill lets you evade a LOT.

In fact, if you’re fighting one enemy, you can turn off autoattack, and wait before using the evading hit – third in the chain. When you see the enemy is starting to attack, hit it – and you basically have a constant manual evade for enemies that don’t hit too fast.

Moreover, Quickening Zephyr lets you hit faster and get more evasion frames per second – and, I haven’t confirmed it, but it might just be that evasion frames don’t speed up along with the attack skills themselves, meaning you have more evasion uptime.

Not to mention Swoop allows you to leap through your own healing AoE and give additional direct AoE healing to you and your pet on top of regeneration that’s already up.

You can’t expect to be a full-time tank with a greatsword, but I think it’s decent unless you just want lods of damage from it.

Ghastly Longbow particle effect broken

Ghastly Longbow only has its particle effect either after changing zones, or after requipping it. The effect disappears completely after shooting even one arrow from it.

Edit: Also, Ghastly Shortbow doesn’t have a particle effect at all at this moment.

  • Shortbows have same damage and range as longbows.
  • Shortbow autoattack hits much faster than longbow’s, applies bleeding and isn’t crippled by distance to target requirement.
  • Shortbow control is better – cripple, swiftness+dodge, daze while longbow only has a knockback(that, of course, doesn’t work on anyone with Defiance).
  • Longbow AOE is short, doesn’t hit hard and has a relatively long CD – while with a shortbow I can line up and pierce several targets anyway all while applying bleeds to all of them.

Basically, there is no reason whatsoever to use longbows unless you have a very big, but not very tough crowd of enemies, which almost never happens.

It’s not that shortbow is too powerful. It’s just that the longbow is complete garbage. This pains me, since I like how longbows look more and there are quite many good longbow skins. I’d love to get this addressed and use it for once.

They give worse boons than untraited support skills of other classes, and just one at a time.
They don’t follow around unless traited.
They have a random chance not to even work.
On top of that, they die instantly.

As of now, spirits are useless, completely and utterly.

How to reset the dungeon for your entire party and kick them in the process

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: ionite.6234

ionite.6234

I’m not sure if this is a bug or just party mechanics working as intended(in that case it should be changed), but here it goes.

Today I was running Twilight Arbor, we made it to the last boss. Suddenly, one guy gets DC’d, and apparently something is wrong and we can’t see him when he comes back.

So he decides to relog.

And instead of actually relogging he character swaps to his level 3 engineer.

When he does, our whole party is instantly kicked out of the dungeon and the whole thing is reset. None of us had the spirit to redo everything just then, so the group just fell apart. I don’t know if it’s because his alt didn’t meet the level requirement(I’ve seen people character swap to their 80 alt and getting in just fine), or something else.

Anyway, I don’t think this is how it’s supposed to work, and I’d appreciate it if the devs could address this problem. It’s way too easy to ruin everything for the whole party of people and undo all the progress they have made.

Defending collectors from gravelings in AC explorable

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: ionite.6234

ionite.6234

Well, our somewhat experienced in other explorables group just tried to do Tzarn’s path in Ascalonian Catacombs and we found out that, while we have no problems staying alive, keeping both, or even one, collector is plainly impossible if you’re not running a team setup with this specific encounter in mind.

Are there any tips for that? We’ve tried every strategy we could think of, from focusing burrows or elites to trying to keep them off collectors via kiting and lines of warding/immobilizes, but finally gave up after 1,5 hours of trying. Even if we attack them, they usually won’t leave the crystals alone.

It doesn’t help that some of the burrows are plain bugged. The very first one that spawns – as a ranger, shortbow attacks result in “Obstructed”, GS attacks don’t yield even that, they simply don’t hit anything even if I’m standing right on top of it.

Crucible of Eternity = Death

What Ruien said, you’re just doing bad.

Ice AoE can be dodged with ease. Fire as well – you can even walk out of it. Earth doesn’t do much damage but if you observe the patterns you can avoid it too. If your group does everything right, crystals will go down quick.

Even if you’re in a crystal, use tendrils as rally fodder after you are downed.

Bring an invuln. You can cheat your way out of a crystal once in a while with it.

Finally, look when Alpha spews 4 green globs in different directions – where they land, Alpha essences will appear. If you manage to kill one of them(focus one), he’ll be stunned for good 10-15 seconds.

There are many imbalanced, horrible things in dungeons(like defending collectors from gravelings in AC), but this is not one of them.

TL;DR: Learn to dodge.

[Seafarer's Rest] Ranger looking for PvE guild

I’m looking for a PvE guild on Seafarer’s Rest that concentrates mostly on explorable dungeon runs.

Preferably not too big, and not about constantly farming the easiest one or anything – but doing different paths of different dungeons in a friendly, not too serious atmosphere, for fun or helping each other getting dungeon-themed armor and Dungeon Master achievement, that sort of thing, maybe getting out there in the world and lending a hand each other too.

Dungeon Updates

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

ionite.6234

At this time, dungeons should one of the most efficient ways to level and get gold, and it is not our intention to make them feel like a grind.

Then maybe you can consider reducing the dungeon armor token costs.

46 runs for one set of armor is quite a grind, even if you have three paths to go. It feels fun the first 10-15 times, and the feeling of mastering the dungeon and making no mistakes during it at all is great, but then it’s just tedious. You’ve seen it all and you know every corner and every little thing.

My personal opinion: Crucible of Eternity 2nd path is terrible

Is this the teleportation lab one?

I was in a relatively good group, and it all went fine until the last boss.

The boss before the last can be beaten easily with a trick – just look for an environmental weapon and see how to use it.

Now, Subject Alpha is pretty hard. But if you don’t dodge the fire AoE(save endurance for ice) – you have plenty time to walk out – and take down crystals the moment they go up, you should be fine. You don’t need to walk out of ice either – there is a right moment when you can dodge and evade it altogether. The difficulty is that you can’t help downed players(because you’ll inevitably get targeted by another AoE) and that if at least two people screw up, you probably lost since crystals don’t go down as fast. And yes, it did take us an hour to get good at dodging all that, but we still did it.

What’s the reason for them not following commands? Am I doing something wrong, or it’s just really unresponsive?

Reduce dungeon exotic armor and weapon token costs.

Right now, it takes 69 runs(30 tokens for one run, 20 for every subsequent one, 1380 being the price of a full set) just to get a full exotic dungeon armor set. At that point, you’ll not only stop having fun with the game, but will hate it with a burning passion.

I understand they’re not supposed to be easy to obtain, but even a month would be overkill for a non-legendary. If you do one run per day(I wouldn’t be able to do more) – and considering most explorable modes aren’t fast at all – this will take over two months of running the same dungeon. This is the very opposite of fun.

And then there are weapons.

And then there are legendary items.

And then there is normal gameplay and events.

And PvP.

I also wanted to make some effort to make some of my alts look good and deck them in dungeon armor, but NO, it isn’t allowed unless you’re playing 24/7 and doing nothing but running dungeons over and over again and doing nothing else in your personal free time.

What happened to the “no grind” promises, Anet?

Low FPS - [merged]

in Account & Technical Support

ionite.6234

First off, my specs.

AMD Athlon 64X2 5000+ OC’d @2.8 GHz
AMD Radeon HD5770 1GB
2GB RAM

Now, I know this isn’t good, but it meets and surpasses the minimum requirements.

After some patches, the game generally runs great in most places – I can even allow myself the luxury of max settings in PvE areas and have 30-40 FPS with it, which is more than I could ask for.

In other places, however, it runs horrible, and settings don’t matter. Such places are:

  1. Crucible of Eternity dungeon. Lowest settings, subsampling, 3 FPS everywhere except the last couple of rooms during fights. This is easily the worst offender outside WvW.
  2. The Grove. Same story, no idea why, although it might be because it’s multi-layered and it’s all rendering at once(same might go for CoE).
  3. Any WvW fight. Any siege, on any settings makes the game utterly unplayable. The game can’t handle such amounts of players and effects.
  4. Ascalon Catacombs. Most of the dungeon starting from the second story boss runs at 15 FPS max during fights on lowest settings. I honestly don’t see why – it’s a small, interior-based dungeon and there isn’t even anything to look at – it’s just walls and piles of rubble.
  5. Parts of PvE areas, like the settlement in Queensdale just outside Divinity’s Reach, parts of Orr around Wren, that place in Fireheart Rise southwest of CoF with the skillpoint, etc.

I’m ready to play at lowest settings. But it just doesn’t help even if I enable them – I gain 1-2 FPS over max ones. If this can’t be fixed for old CPUs like mine(and I’m sure my graphics card isn’t the source of the problem), bump up system requirements, because parts of the game are, simply put, unplayable. Seeing as I will need to revisit some of these places for things I want, this isn’t looking bright.

Attaching my dxdiag just to be sure.
