It states Feb. 26th on the site, https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/february-2013/, just doesn’t say “when.”

Has there been any hint on “when” the actual Flame and Frost event as a whole will begin today, the 26th?

You are saying that I should scan every topic ( too many to mention ) before I post any one ?!

Yes, it’s called the search feature!

It’s either

A: faulty hardware either modem or router.
or
B: ISP problems.

If GW2 caused any router or modem to “die” and stop working like you described, there would be thousands of people posting about it.

You can also scan your computer and be sure it is clean of any malware, as that can also contribute.

I had a similar problem back when I was playing WoW in 2005. I would only lose connection when I logged in and started playing WoW. Back then I was on DSL, and I would call my ISP and they would look and say it was nothing.

Eventually, it turned out the backbone server that I got my internet from….had burnt out slots. Causing connections to drop at peak times, between 4pm and 2am.

Regardless, it’s either hardware failure or malware causing the problem.

If you bought a new router, and it did the same, I’d go get another one. The one you bought could just as likely be defective. I’ve bought a couple that were dead on arrival.

You need to get on the phone with your ISP. Have them look at your modem/request a new modem.

If there is a problem, the problem probably only causes trouble when the lines are maxed out at peak hours. Which is probably when you’re trying to play the game.

Streaming movies and downloading torrents doesn’t always mean it uses as much bandwidth as a game, not always.

I work in IT. My advice is to scan your computer with something you know is a well known scanner to remove malware/virus, and then take that other router back and go get another, get something known well in the gaming community. I would stay away from netgears but some do work well.

From there, talk to your ISP. This isn’t a GW2 problem.

I think the post pretty much proves why the game is anti-social.

But I’ll sum it up a little in my own words.

Try to get people active and doing things, to make the game more fun, people whine and complain, and refuse.

If it’s solo-able, they will solo it. Always.

The big problem with your original post is the fact that due to the way the guild is laid out, most times people don’t know you or your rank in the guild…..you want attention as the guild leader.

What I say next goes for every guild and all of the situations you talk about.

This is why you do not mass recruit anyone at any time for any reason just to bolster numbers.

I have a small guild consisting of 40 members. At any given time we have 10~13 players online and active, all representing.

Most of these 400+ guilds have very few people actually representing and participating in the guild.

To them, it’s just numbers.

You need to A: invite people who genuinely want to be a part of the guild, or B: join a well respected, known guild.

Mass recruiting, regardless of what game it is, gives you this “destruction.” I’ve seen it in every game. Mass recruiting is a plague.

I still don’t see how this hasn’t been put into the game yet….the fix is done, it’s ready to be rolled out. There has been a patch since this post was made.

What gives? Screw “waiting for content update” put it in a kitten patch and fix our game so we can continue our story!

Well, another option is to use third party software to control the movements of the cursor. Look up DDMM (dual display mouse manager) if you’re interested.

That’s the thing, shouldn’t have to do that.

Run it in windowed fullscreen mode. It wont minimize and you can easily jump to a browser or IM/Skype window while keeping an eye on the game.

This is a problem with the game client that needs to be fixed.

Since beta, it has constantly alt tabbed me because the mouse escapes the game window in full screen.

Events don’t seem to be triggering the achievement.

I think the only achievements that count towards the event achievements, are the ones listed under the special events tab.

To get past the first room you have to go get all the chains. One of them is rather tricky to get to.

If the chain has lit torches by it, it’s already activated.

After that, it’s just a boss fight in the next room.

Why is it that poor behavior from customers is OK, but problems in developing or rolling out a complicated addition to an online game – without killing the servers to do so – isn’t? They’re basically looking at this as an upgrade to an automobile – while it’s still running. You’re suggesting that a company just give in to the whines – and when the product they release is flawed, they eat it for that, too. Given that kind of customer mentality, it’s a wonder anyone even tries in the business in the first place. There’s a point when you make concessions, and a point when you fire the customer. Given the whinging by many in this thread and others, the game’d better off without ’em.

The entire exchange between us has been regarding the community team leader’s use of “impatient.”

It is unprofessional in any profession to call your customers name. By stating that we are “impatient” they are indeed doing so. Calling a customer impatient is not a way to win awards or money. Quite the opposite.

That’s what this is about. (Our exchange) so stop taking it elsewhere.

Do you honestly expect me to believe you run a business, then call your customers “impatient” and expect me to believe you actually make a living? I don’t think so.

Very few businesses can get away with having customers come in to buy something, and being harassed with verbal abuse, regardless of how it’s used, and expect to win them over.

To the people talking about the impatient comment. People are upset because that is a very unprofessional approach to the problem. You don’t call your fans/customers “impatient.” You just don’t.

Again, this is all about PR. It should have been stated the 23rd, not the 22nd. As many people have stated. People work, you can’t expect them to stay up all night to be part of the opening event on something that should have been released earlier in the day.

Biggest problem: Not everyone lives in the PST. So people saying “it’s not even late!” You only know what revolves around you. Not what is happening around the world.

People saying “It’s free content kitten stop QQing!!”

When you purchased GW2, you purchased the game knowing it “came” with free updates, and free content patches. That means the content is “included” in the original purchase price.

Let that settle in your minds for a bit. Yes, you paid for it, and so did everyone else.

Think of it like this as well. Every little bit you spend on the gem shop…yeah that’s just extra.

Again, like I said, it’s not the fact that we’re getting quote unquote “free” content. It’s the misleading information. It’s the “It’s coming in the afternoon!” And then now “it’s coming later this evening.”

There are a lot of people who do not live in PST. I’m one of them. It is currently 9:20pm. It’s getting rather late.

It’s a work week. Normally, people have to get up rather early during the work week.

That’s really quite appalling. You sell yourselves as a quality AAA mmo, in 2012, and yet you are incapable of providing a time for when you intend to release your event. You do realize that holiday events and content patches in mmos have been happening for years, they are not technical marvels. Your player-base is not stupid and are (mostly) not gullible.

Jump aboard the addiction train, and no, we’re not going to rehab!

Hopeless Addiction was founded day one of the World of Warcraft launch (yes, WoW). We have been together since through various games, and names. With the launch of Guild Wars 2, we decided to bring it back with a bang, and so far it’s been a success.

What is Hopeless Addiction?

We’re a guild of course!

You will find a lot of “hardcore” guilds out there that are rather strict. They enforce stupid rules on their members and often ran by a young person that can sometimes go on rampages. This isn’t meant to target “all” hardcore guilds, but it does serve as a generalization to a lot of them.

You will also find a lot of “casual” guilds that are so laid back, people just don’t do anything.

We are neither. We are the true definition of a “Guild.” In the sense of gaming, that is, not real life…no we are not a secret organization or an all craftsmen guild (though we sort of are all craftsmen =P).

When most people think of a guild within an MMO, they think of a group of players who share the same ideals. They think of a place to call home within that game. Some think of family, some think of it was a gateway to other things. In a sense, we’re all of that.

Here is a short list of what you will find at Hopeless Addiction:

• Players who share the same ideals as you.
• A feeling of “community”
• No die hard commitment to one thing or the other.
• No obligations, no feeling like you are obligated to help someone, or to do something.
• Fun environment to engage in conversations, to find help, and simply to have fun.
• Teamspeak 3 server for voice communication.
• Private forum to speak about guild activities.

We are all here to have fun, that’s why we’re playing a game. That is what HA is all about. If you aren’t enjoying your time playing, you’re doing something wrong.

WvWvW, sPvP, PvE
As stated above, we are not a hardcore or casual guild. We are a mix of both. We have players from all walks of life. Some of us enjoy PvP, some of us don’t.

If you would like to participate in any PvP activities, feel free to do so. I even encourage it, along with promoting and organizing PvP parties/activities for the guild.

Just don’t harass the players we have whom simply do not want to participate in pvp.

I do have plans, in the future, to set up teams for sPvP, Tournaments, and put together a really good WvWvW team to go in at set times.

Short list of rules and what we expect of/from you
*Have Fun!
*No exploiting, this will result in immediate removal from the guild and a report filed against you.
*No Cheating/Hacking, this should be self explanatory, same as above.
*Being an kitten, a kitten, or simply causing problems will get you reprimanded and eventually removed. We’re not here to cause problems for other players.

*I expect you to participate in guild activities. While there is no obligation as stated above, I do expect you to be “part” of the guild. Simply holding a position doesn’t truly make you part of a guild.

Crafting and You
This shouldn’t be a problem, yet I still feel the need to put it out there because there are some people who will do just this.

We are a guild, we aren’t random players you come across to make a buck on. If a guildie needs something crafted and you can and offer to craft it, you do so free of charge, as long as they provide the materials. I’m not asking you to give your materials away for free, I’m asking you to craft for free.
