Thanks for the thoughts, and that kind of matches my experience so far. Mostly I keep Axe/Mace up, but when I need additional CC, I switch for hammer 4 and 5.
What I wonder is, if that is worth it, or would I be better served with having Mace/Warhorn might give me a bit more defense and utility.
I have been having fun with Axe/Mace + hammer, but not really sure what build I should be thinking about. Any good builds for this combo?
This if for PvE mostly.
So I read a post on here about a month ago about someone running sword/focus blind build, and they paired it with a GS. I really like the hammer so trying a protective variation on that. It is a fun build, but wondering if it will work long term for what I want, which is PVE dungeons and running around Orr for group events.
The idea is to blind with Ray Of Judgement as you approach the mob, blind again with flashing blade, and then again with Virtue of Justice/Justice is Blind. Blind Exposure stacks vuln on them, and Inspired Virtue gives you might when you pop justice. So nice Synergy.
Then while on CD, I switch to hammer, get protection up, mighty blow, banish, switch back and repeat.
Add in Hold the Line, Save Yourself and Retreat and I have lots of shout buffs.
So it seems like 20 15 0 10 5 is a good place to start. Not sure from there.
Is this viable for end game? any suggestions?
Been playing around with different guardian builds and cannot find the right one, perhaps someone can point me in the right direction.
Essentially I want to jump into the middle of a big crowd of PvE mobs and not die, but be able to hit them all. This is more for events and group PvE. I was thinking hammer + mace/shield? Using Judges intervention to jump into the fray? Hammer/Staff maybe so I have some mobility and they have synergy on 2hand traits?
I have only really ever played my 80 necro, so not really sure which way to think on this.
thanks for any suggestions. I just want to jump in the middle and start swinging and not worry too much about my health because it is part of the build, I think Guardian might be good for this.
does race matter? I started a sylvari necro, because I liked the idea of death being part of nature. But cannot really tell if race matters much.
thanks for the quick response. Scleameth, your breakdown of how the classes work in WvW is very helpful. I had started a necro, and I like the sound of them always being welcomed.
Hi, I just got this game last night and I am mostly interested in wvw pvp in this game. My play style is more ranged dps. I am not looking to know what is an OP class, just what is most useful to groups and guilds?
also, can you level in wvw? Or will I have to PvE also? Or is there enough WvW to play at all levels? So far I have only just tried to go through the entry story for a necro, have not seen much of the game.
I just want to find a fun toon that also will be able to find groups and such. thanks
