I’m on the fence between PU and Illusionary Persona. Mostly because of the almost required counter to the still prevalent stun warrior builds out there.
Does the extra second and random cloak buffs increase survivability much higher than a Shatterupt version of this build?
EDIT
Wanted to point out to everyone that you can stack a ton of might with Chaos Storm on a zerg (WvW or PvE). I’m not sure if any of you have tried the “Signet of Inspiration” after build up those stacks.

I’ll point everyone to this link: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mesmer
Read the first sentence of the class and remind yourself about the initial quote: “When I’m done with you, you won’t trust your own mind.”
The point of a Mesmer is battlefield confusion and utilizing it to their advantage. I’m sorry if that frustrates you but the devs have made ways to identify the original Mesmer.
“I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it.”
So is the suggestion to treat spirits like Banners? Larger radius and improved effect? Does this mean we gotta pick up our spirits like an unruly child and place them somewhere else each time we want to change the battlefield landscape? LOL!
Is this seriously being discussed? I think someone forgets to kill the spirits and is frustrated. Ask me how frustrated I am when a banner warrior stays up because of the constant stream of regen and their banners can’t be destroyed (movable now).
If there was a way to sign a petition for this, I’d love to see this!!! Is there a way we can get one and have it signable by players?
It’d be nice to see the tailoring/leatherworking trades be able to craft back items with stats instead of being at the mercy of the RNG or spending money to a merchant who will do nothing with the profits.
In addition, since this is a micro transaction game it’d be nice to see more aged out content become available through tokens or gems. I mean you guys do wanna make money and having all of the seasonal content available you can make money year round as trends progress through the world.
Yes open these up to the free market. I mean you’ve already allowed Legendary items be sold on the Trading Post.
They should be able to analyze heatmap usage of maps from known bots/gold sellers to analyze a pattern and then after verifying accounts they can ban those MAC/IP addresses.
Still the problem becomes a false positive nightmare along with the issue of anonymizer usage.
Basically discovery can be quite difficult.
I’ve dealt with false positive banning before and was none too pleased by it. So be careful what you ask for.
What would be great is to also have ALL shatters function like “Distortion” where the shatter happens but the effect occurs at the target (self in this case). That then would allow shatter’s to not be affected by AoE or another option would be to have an invulnerability effect on illusions participating in a shatter.
These are ideas I have to make the class be able to realize it’s potential and also makes Diversion a bit more useful as stuns are extremely timing oriented and when you have to coordinate recognizing a skill and the run time for an illusion to get to target, it’s bananas.
I really would like the condition viability restored for Mesmer in the form of allowing more confusions and more effective dazing (diversion).
Suggestion for making Scepter useful again… Apply confusion on first and second attacks and generate clone on third (as is). That way the clones casting Ether Bolt aren’t useless. Unlike clones from Staff and Sword (conditions/buffs and boon stripping). Even if it’s 1 second it’ll still apply up to 4 stacks at a time with full “party” casting Ether Bolt.
Thoughts?
It’s been 3 months since the last update… What is everyone’s thoughts on viability? I’m still debating between empowering my interrupts or doing a passive confusion stacking build.
Yeah I agree with that but it’d be nice if it were transferable within an account.
Also could a dev/Anet respond
Any chance they could make this available in the Mystic Forge?
So, because you can’t spend time on the game people that can should not get cool exclusive stuff?
Why should ArenaNet cater for people that does not play their game actively?
I spent days, multiple times a day too, trying to get some of that exclusive cool stuff and it never dropped. Just because it’s available and you put in the effort, doesn’t mean you will get it.
What’d be nice is to see A.net implement recipes for those items from the Mystic Forge so if you weren’t able to receive the content through the effort of dungeon runs or questing, you could achieve the content through farming for mats to craft that content that you’ve had your eye on after the content is “decommissioned”.
That way people with a life can still have their life and have goals in game even if they miss out on content.
