Canthan is not Asian.

They get to take some artistic liberties.

Actually Canthan is very North-East Asian design influenced, not complete Asian influenced, because Asia would include Malayan, Philippines, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Thai culture influences.

But we do not see that in Canthan designs.

When did I say you can’t say Asian hat?
I said you cannot say arenanet goofed asian hat. Because they didn’t.
They used the most commonly known.

Well, by your usage of quotation marks on the word “asian hat”, was there any reason for putting them? Because the way it was phrased seemed like it was a problem with saying Asian hat.

So because they used the commonly known hat, isn’t that also generalizing or stereotyping Asian hats in general? Isn’t that what you were against? Because it is the same as saying, as you said, that the “asian hat” is wrong because there are many different hat styles all over Asia.

So by saying that Anet didn’t goof it up, and using a commonly known hat, then it means that Anet acknowledges that they ignored all the other different hat styles all over Asia, to favor the Conical Asian hat.

They’re named nón là in Vietnam
It’s the most known conical hat to western countries so this is probably why they made it that way.

Saying they goofed on the “asian hat” is wrong because there are many different hat styles all over Asia.

Erm. You just contradicted yourself.

So Western Countries can generalize most of asian hat styles with the nón là. While we, the rest cannot say the “asian hat” because it’s generalizing many different hat styles over Asia.

ROFL.

When you say Asian, please be specific. The Asia area encompasses a huge area. If you are referring to the Halloween female costume, then Anet hit the bulls eye, as it is an accurate representation of Medieval Japanese peasant farmers rice straw hats. Also taking into consideration the close proximity of Japan to China, it is highly probable that this design was adopted from there, as it affords head protection, is relatively easy to make with readily available local resources. Unlike the picture indicated, peasants, would not have been able to afford the luxury of tightly wound stylish hats, that look like they came straight from a shop!

I would have to disagree with your statement. Using this japanese design to generalize the whole Asian/Chinese design is just ignorance, and I’m not even gonna mention the amount of history before the Manchus. Even if this was Chinese influenced, it is only more prevalent southern region border along Vietnam.

Even in generalizing, the first thing many people would have associated the Conical Asian hat with is mostly the South East Asia region (Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia) compared to the Orient. Especially in Vietnam where it is the national costume.

As for Tagashi Jack, you’re kinda stepping all over the racist line. Thank you very much.

Why do people want to win the event?

Personally I find alot of people just want to get the gold, so naturally it’s a choice considering that alot of champs spawn during this event?

So it’ll just come down to greed or selflessness, it’s human nature. Least we can easily identify the farmers to the players. But then again, who doesn’t want all that gold… Maybe ArenaNet is testing us…

I don’t know if anyone would support this, but I do, for I feel it would create a much more engaging player experience and it should be extremely rewarding. b(’’,)

I’ve came up with a different thread discussing the metas in a similiar fashion too. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/events/An-idea-for-Meta-events/first#post2732351

I’m pretty sure ArenaNet has mentioned that they are gonna improve the dragon metas before. And this is just an idea I thought and discussed with my fellow guildies, like you said, alot of people probably like this idea.

But then again, everyone is more into champion farming now. So I doubt many would even find the time to support this idea for even a chance that ArenaNet would look at this. :/

I was playing the Scarlet Invasion events throughout the world and it got me thinking.

Why aren’t Dragon Meta Events like that?

I mean, it could start out as a map invasion, for example, in Sparkfly Fen, where hordes of undead suddenly appear all over place, and we as the players have to defend the map from this invasion, and once we defeat this wave of undead, then Tequatl, the undead lieutenant, comes down to deal with us himself. I think that would create a much more engaging dragon event than just us, standing in a spot, dpsing down the dragon lieutenant.

It’s just an idea, but what do you guys think?

All of that sounds epically boring. The “defeat a god plot” as you so blandly put it is still far more compelling & epic. Sorry, but finding out why a building half blew up is not as interesting as a battle between the most epic & important characters in the entire GW story, unless it is directly tied to the battle of the gods. the Inquest are quite boring.

Now this is a good point, but still, weak.

Firstly, the idea has been overdone in many games. Fall of Abbadon occured eons ago before Guild Wars 1. It happened in the Crystal Sea, which is now the Crystal Dessert, on an island, presumably, of Morah, which is now the Desolation. The Margonites who are human, were Abbadon’s army, and the 5 gods had thier own army of humans and possibly Forgotten. On top of that, you won’t be able to see the gods, given the lore that upon viewing of a god will make you blind. We already know so much and we can all see what’s going to unfold. It is so predictable.

Secondly, it’s not just A building which blew up. The consequences of it blowing up screwed up with the space time continuum of the world. We get to see the cause of Chernobyl of Tyria. What were the reasons behind building the reactor? What were the results they hoped to accomplish? What preparations were they doing? It’s a recent event right before GW2, so it’s much more relevant to the current time we’re playing in. I don’t think the inquest are boring, they have the Crucible of Eternity, they are researchers, villians who think they are doing something justifiable. Boring? Fall of Abbadon is boring.

3rdly, why are you skipping the fact of supporting Evon is supporting rng crap chests?

Blah blah blah? Allow me to educate you as to why Evon will win.

1) BL Keys > Waypoint costs
2) Abbadon > than some silly nuclear plant
3) Evon’s business experience > Kiel’s taking credit for our hard work

Smooth Penguin, mind abbreviating on your points?

Sure. I’ll shorten my previous post to three words: Evon beats Kiel

So the title is pretty self explainatory and I don’t expect alot to agree with me, but I just had to get this out there for you guys to hear. Probably some blah blah blahs to Evon supporters, but here we go.

Why I’d support Kiel, it’s simple. She’s been with us on almost every living story, being the inspector and resolving the problems each living story gave.

But that’s not it, because she did give a number of perks, which is why I’m going to abbreviate here.

Thaumanova Reactor Explosion > Fall of Abbadon

Why I’d say that Thaumanova is better than Fall of Abbadon? Because the idea of defeating a god is very predictable and way overdone. It lacks depth, even though you can argue that the lore is very interesting, it is kinda dull and boring in my opinion. I can confidently say that anyone who reads this can come up with such a defeat the god plot. On top of that, I don’t like the idea of a possible scenario where we play as the gods themselves fighting against Abbadon. I like the whole mystique that Arena has surrounded the gods and left us to our imagination of a higher entity, like how real life religion is. Besides, if the fractal for fall is long, which probably would be, given that there is alot to tell in one playthrough, I doubt many would want to do that fractal in the long run.

And what’s my argument for supporting Thaumanova? It’s easy, there can be so many ways to play with this story, it can be an inquest plot, or asuran experiment gone wrong, chaos theory in play, the ideas is endless and way more creative compared to a defeat a god plot. Thaumanova’s giving alot of room for fun and a decent challenge, on top of an interesting plot.

Waypoint cost > Blacklion keys

Why I support waypoint cost over blacklion? Both affects us all yes, but waypoint is for every guild wars gamer, while blacklion are more catered to the wealthier (in-game/reality) player. Plus, given the past experiences we all have before with RNG chests (Blacklion, Southsun, Dragon Coffer) why would you support blacklion? You voting on Evon equals to you telling Arenanet/NCsoft that you, support this RNG chest nonsense. Whereas waypoint costs benefits everyone, the rich, the poor, the farmer, the casual. Seems logically a good choice to support Kiel.

So this is my arguement why I support Kiel. What are your thoughts/debates on this?
