There are traits that help with this if you don’t want to work around the damage.
Yes I already did that. I changed them at the NPC a long time ago. They’ve been account bound since. I know all this. They just recently changed back.
Hopefully if I do that they won’t revert back again once they’re returned to the bank for another character to pick up.
I could have sworn the backpacks were account bound, and that I’d moved them between characters before. But I could be wrong.
Back when they first came out, I purchased two of the Molten Alliance mining tools from the gem store. Back then, they were soulbound once you gave them to a character. However, when the permanent tools were changed to be a little more expensive but be account bound, these were changed to be account bound too.
Except they aren’t anymore. Something has caused them to revert back to being soulbound again.
Whatever is causing this may also be what’s causing the Whisper’s pact backpack I have to show up as soulbound when it should be account bound. Putting it in the bank seems to have done that and reset the stats back to unchosen. Please look into this. I have many characters and switch items between them regularly.
While doing Hearts and Minds I ran into no issues aside from one, but this one kept me from being able to continue. The third rift I needed to open didn’t appear in a location I could reach. I’d seen this rift appear before in previous attempts before the recent patching, but there had always been another one I could actually get to. This time the character that opened the rift just stood off to the side where the new rift should be, but this is all I got. I can’t reach it to complete it this way.
I’ve also encountered an issue where a new rift won’t form, leaving the old one to hover out in space where it can’t be reached. Before, a new one would form in an accessible area, but this last time I tried running it I couldn’t continue because there was no rift I could reach.
And I’m at the same IP. It hasn’t changed. The emails reflect that it hasn’t changed.
My account hasn’t been messed with. My characters and items are all fine, so I don’t know why it’s acting as if I’m always logging in from somewhere new all of a sudden. I’m not using any programs that hide or change my IP. I’ve literally done nothing different than what I was doing yesterday, yet it’s already had me do this three times – one being just to log into the forums.
I can get in once I authorize my account, of course, it just shouldn’t be necessary to do it.
I may not want to do dungeon speed runs, but I may want to run dungeons at some points. I know plenty of people run them normally. I may want to do fractals – I’ve done them some in the past and don’t really care for them, but I have friends that do high level ones. I want to do wvw for sure, though that ties more into my skill in pvp (or lack of it) as I’ll be running in small roaming groups most likely.
It’s just a matter of multiple sets and knowing I can’t always do exactly what I want.
I actually have decided to mess around on my thief for a while and see what I can come up with. I’m not the best at making builds, but I’ve got some ideas. If all else fails, I may end up gearing up a couple characters for different situations rather than one.
Though I took a break for a few months, I’ve been a fan of GW2 since launch. (I didn’t even stop playing because I was bored of it.) The problem is, as much as I love it, I can’t find one character to stick with.
I want one to focus on, to make ascended gear for, multiple sets, you know. One to master. I just can’t pick a class and stick with it. It’s like there’s something about every class that bothers me. But the rest of the game is so great that it’s frustrating.
I messed around on Wildstar a bit. Can’t really play it to end game because I can’t do raiding, but the thing is I knew exactly what race and class I wanted to play. Straight off. No problems. It was a spellslinger. I like ranged classes and I like handguns.
So I thought, what can I do in GW2 that would be close to that? A P/P thief would be fun if it was actually viable for anything. P/P engineer works in pvp situations, but isn’t as great in pve without kits. Might still lean toward it, but you know.
I have an 80 in every class but ranger and mesmer. The mesmer playstyle just isn’t for me, and I don’t want a class where I have to have a pet out all the time. (It’s not even that ranger isn’t fun. I have one that’s lvl 67, but the pet just bothers me.) Maybe I’m incredibly picky, but I need to be happy with my main choice, right? It just seems like no matter what I try, something bothers me.
A lot of it probably has to do with how much I hate the meta builds. They make me angry. I don’t like being pigeonholed into a certain few specs, and this seems to be the case in pve – save maybe for fractals. If I was better at pvp I would switch my focus. Maybe I should anyway, though I really like the pve storyline content. And maybe it doesn’t even matter, since I don’t focus too heavily on dungeon runs. I should just make a set for them and switch everything off when I need to. No big deal.
Anyway, I’m just frustrated. Looking for someone else who has similar issues, maybe.
I know this is the last thing the devs need to be focusing on, but it bothers me so much.
That blue aegis shield effect… please give us a way to turn it off. -_- I love my guardians (I have two) but I hate that shield. I don’t need to see it on my arm when wielding a 2-handed weapon, and especially not when I’m invited to a dance!
I hate shields. It’s bad enough when I use one I’ve picked out myself. I don’t want to see one there constantly. And I’m not saying to remove it completely. I’m sure plenty of people like it or don’t care. But an option to turn it off would be so nice.
I’m having similar problems. With the event coming to its conclusion soon, this needs to be fixed.
Actually read the post. The gear is meant specifically for dungeons. The ascended armor comes with rune/sigil stats pre-added, meaning you can’t pick them out for yourself, and the extra slot is for items you add specifically to lessen the damage caused by status effects that ONLY exist in dungeons.
In other words, they’re not needed for WvW at all.
Yeah, it’s meant for pve dungeon affects. You need the slots the ascended gear has to add items that help minimize the damage you take from specific status effects only relevant to dungeons. In other words, it won’t be needed in WvW at all.
Also, as mentioned, it can’t be slotted with runes and sigils. If the stats on the gear you saw look better than the regular gear, it’s only because of what “rune” was added to the piece. It shouldn’t be any better than exotic gear aside from the slot with the status effect nullifier and if it is I’m sure they’ll readjust it so it isn’t. The gear doesn’t allow you to mix and match or replace runes either, so in that way exotics might still be better for WvW in some regards depending on how you mix your stats.
Chill out, y’all.
Wait, no. I think I know what you’re talking about. Ignore me.
Maybe it just hasn’t been implemented yet. I don’t know why it’s labeled wrong in the pvp armor collectibles. Even the images are of the set I have in the pic.

There’s a set known as Masquerade that’s craftable by tailors. I’m wearing it right now. Is it this one? (Ignore the boots, those are the Mad King ones.)
There is nothing game ruining about these items. Nothing that adds any sort of pay-to-win issue. They’re nifty skins. Getting them won’t make your experience with the game any better or worse. ANET hasn’t forced you to do anything.
It was a chance. Spending that much right off the bat was simply an unwise decision. you should always do research on something before dumping money on a chance and expecting anything.
There are plenty of other things to do with the event. I for one will be enjoying them. If I don’t get every last possible vanity item that can be found this year then so be it.
