i often wonder how much Anet would make from just selling the skins for gems rather than the tiny tiny chance of getting them from chests
i guess there’s a lot of mugs out there who buy keys
while the traveller rune does solve the problem, it’s a) level 60 for the buff, not much use while levelling (which is arguably where the speed boost comes in the most useful) and b) you have to give up your rune slots for it.
it’d be nice to have both options, every other class gets the choice, and i don’t see how it’d be gamebreaking to give it to guards and mesmers.
i’d really like a 25% passive movement signet or trait.
guards and mesmers could do with that, yeah i’m lazy and like to run places without having to slot several utility slots and a weapon to do it.
NCsoft isn’t Japanese though. And it’s not even a Japanese themed game.
tell that to 90% of the female human characters
moose! moooooooseeee please
i think the biggest thing stopping me from appreciating this game is the transmutation charges. i can understand and support all the cash shop purchases except these – it’s just so greedy. i’ve bought extra character slots, the odd weapon skin and armour, dyes and harvesting tools – never have i regretted buying those. but transmutation charges is such a letdown.
for all it’s faults diablo 3 has transmog done right – it’s easily done with a minimal in-game fee. why anet feel the need to charge players for such a small function is beyond me.
i haven’t really sank any meaningful time in this game in almost a year. i came back to see the new patch delights and i’m just really disappointed. i was hoping to get sucked back in but already i’m put off.

thanks for the info, i’ll go grind some gold out. what amount of gold does it usually take to grind out something from 1-400?
i gotta say, the amount of raw mats you need to level any armour/weapons crafting skill is kind of silly. you sure need a lot of those rare bones and totems and claws and blood vials and the like. i don’t mind it taking some time but it’s a lot of work. maybe more than it feels like it’s worth.
any hints from you crafters on what i can do to help speed it up? or is it just plain grind away til i have enough to pass a tier then grind some more for the next?
i’m not the first to say this, but:
it’s meant to be a vanity item, not a money-saver.
i love this game, but i would literally beat a quaggan baby to death to have solo dungeons. not dungeons with henchmen, mind you – i could do without that awkward GW1 relic – but solo dungeons. something like the living story parts: you drop in, run through the dungeon, it’s challenging but not impossible – and the whole thing takes maybe 30 mins.
something like that would be amazing.
also on topic: while i tried neverwinter – and it’s terrible beyond belief – i did like it’s foundry system where players could create their own dungeons. imagine having a concept like that in a good game like gw2? maybe one day
yup, a great class to start with. and to keep going. just remember two things:
1) ranger doesn’t mean ranged class (the melee weapons are tons of fun)
2) if you’ve come from, say, WoW, don’t expect your pet to tank for you. both you and your pet share the load while levelling.
those seem to be the biggest new player complaints from rangers, so keep those in mind and enjoy.
i love queensdale, i think it’s the wide open fields of it all. it looks so much nicer to cruise around there and do dailies than, say the annoying spikey brown ascalon areas or the doom ’n gloom orr zones. even the asura/sylvari jungle areas are just too packed in to enjoy.
i do like that the zones have feels to them, but i prefer the more pleasant ones.
no, it should be a bi-sickle. you pedal around picking up plants stuck to the wheels. you don’t even need to stop, plus it’s great exercise.
side note: i also want a gemstore chainsaw for wood gathering.
i love DEs. i don’t really have time to do four fractals most days, but i agree with coldtart that it’d be nice if more were easier to trigger by yourself. on the whole though i don’t think i ever found myself lacking in events while levelling.
i took came back about two weeks ago after a six month break, and i’m honestly not sure why i left in the first place. this game is so much better than anything else out there right now. glad to have you back!
they already have pretty good support, from my experience. why would we need a paid one?
tbh i hadn’t even looked at the leaderboards, it’s not anything that’s even remotely interesting. if they’re as you say they are, then maybe it could work if the leaderboards were a daily or even weekly thing, like based on how many points someone can accrue during that time, and they reset every cycle?
tbh the classes all bring interesting things to dungeons, but people get so entrenched in the opinion that 4 warr+support is the only way to do things that its hard to shake for them. i’m not sure what would break that general consensus at this point.
-edit- forgot to mention that i do agree though, more interesting dungeon fights would definitely be a boon, instead of the zerk smash n’ dodge that most of them are already.

i love these survival necro builds. both yours and the abomination build (can’t remember the name of the poster for that) are showing the zerker warrior elitists that us necros still have a place in the game! cheers buddy <3
Story line Trooper head and shoulders, named top and legs and finally temple hands and feet
this is a really simple but great look, love the giant floppy boots!
so many people crying in this thread about how they won’t spend a penny because of ascended gear or until anet fixes so-so. honestly now, first world problems. if you don’t like the game, why play it?
on topic: i bought some gems way back at launch, character slots and the like. i’ve invested in the pickaxe because it’s cool. i’d gladly invest in more skins if they could be used in pve, and not just town clothes stuff.
Someone today told me that I made an AMATEUR mistake, picking the Necromancer, and I felt like eermm..
On the other side, I’ve read everywhere “build around it” can you explain me what that phrase mean?
Also, your favorite leveling weapon set?
blerrrg don’t listen to them. i love necro, and my main is an engineer. if i listened to people i’d have rerolled warrior ages ago. the thing i can do in dungeons are great, google the abomination build to see a fun tank-style dungeon role, also works well in WvW with practise.
as for weapons, i love dagger + focus and staff. dagger for general stuff and dungeons, staff for zerg events and support.
while levelling i’d suggest having the signet that increases speed by 25% and the flesh golem. neither are much use in dungeons or WvW but you can swap them out as needed.
people are leaving? Nobody told me

just warriors knocked down a peg or two in general so people stop thinking you have to have three to even enter a dungeon.
while this would be great for pve, for pvp you’d essentially have a constant swarm of goons to zerg a player, it’d be a bit OP 1v1.
it would be great though.
i just came back to the game a wekk ago. i’d previously been playing for the month after launch, and in that time i remember gettng to 80 and trying Orr. after a few days of it just being ridiculous i eventually stopped playing, it just put me right off everything.
i’ve come back now and i do love this game still, but i tried Orr again and it’s just terrible. granted it’s nowhere near as bad as it used to be, but the place is ugly and a chore to navigate and zombies zombies zommmbbiiieeeessss ugh
the fact that nobody seems to be quest there anymore means the events are even more of a chore, somehow. i dunno. it’s not my cup of tea. i’ll stick with the other, more pleasant zones.
heaven forbid someone plays a game how they want
never noticed this, but then i rarely roll with my rifle out.
cheers for the heads up!
same here, what’s with that?
i think he means having an idle animation for grenades, and i’m +1 for that. i’d rather they fixed an auto attack for it first though!
yeah, i’ve been running kit refinement since i could first unlock it (it sounded neat) and now i’m almost 60 and love it. but i just don’t get why the medkit has a bomb. and a rubbish one at that. like the above guy said, it should be something heal based.
am i the only one who uses elixir H? :p
had my ticket open since 28 august, c’mon anet get it together
butter?
i hardly knew her
to update mine, i’m pretty sure my accounts are linked, when i change my password for my GW2 account it changes it for my GW1 account.
same here guys, my GW1 & 2 accounts are linked, but i get nothing showing in achievements, if i take the stone to the HoM it’s empty, and my saved names are locked. i opened a ticket on the 28 august and still no response.
the gear i don’t mind so much, they’ll get sorted eventually, but i really would like one of my saved names so i can start my guardian :/
