Posting in Dev thread in the dungeon forum
Hey there, we just encountered the following bug:
Did Twillight Arbor explorable with 2 Ele, 2 Mes, 1 Guardian and ran into too many spiders to count at the Nightmare Tree/Fyonna.
I don’t know if you tweaked the fight for more spiders but this is definetely not possible. Our whole screen was covered with spiders (literally) from the beginning of the fight.
I can’t even post here, I ain’t even mad anymore.
whoah I can
I hope the laser destroyer boss got it’s hp reduced. It’s just incredibly tedious and boring (or was, I hope).
Nice one. +1 internets for you, sir.
Focus targets down in an order. Spam combo fields even if the initial effect might seem not that useful. Save your evade for aoe (or strong attacks) and learn to evade those by timing, not neccessarily by leaving the aoe range.
Communicate with your group. Make sure everyone knows the tactic if there is one, or ask for it if you don’t know it. Voice chat is superb.
Not to run pugs sounds like a stupid advice in an MMO but I find the dungeons unbearable with them. If you don’t have buddies for dungeons, then pug, yes. Only until you find good players though with whom the dungeons suddenly work. Stay in contact with those or join a guild with them. Dungeons are actually fun for me with people I know (except for COE front door path). We often join a dungeon as 4 people and pick up a random, then we keep the good ones :P
If you have a bad 5th player, you can still finish the dungeon with them, but next time you know who not to invite and you can build a solid base of contacts.
be suspicious if you’re in a PUG where the others are from the same guild, since they can kick you before the last boss and you’ll get squat for your efforts.
Why would you do that?
I want to discuss this boss because I think he is either badly designed or my group didn’t get it.
I’m writing about the destroyer boss of the front door way in Crucible Of Eternity. He’s got a shield that knocks people back, into lava and makes him invincible. There’s platforms that you have to jump over to get to him, with aoe on them from time to time.
Then there’s these 3 lasers far away from him that destroy his shield and actually make it possible to attack him.
So what we did was: have 3 people stay at the lasers and blast his shield away and 2 people run to little spots on his platform that are just outside his shield range and attack him with ranged attacks. This ‘tactic’ worked, the problem is it took us about 20 5 min, just for this one boss.
Is there a faster way to kill him? Because the way we did it, was sure fun. 3 people do nothing but spam f every 10 sec and the rest is down there autoattacking. This fight was pretty much a big furry kitten.
Defending Hodgins tactic that worked really well for us:
Have one person tank and nuke the little guys from the central burrow, don’t destroy it though.
Destroy the western burrow first and use as much aoe as possible while doing so. Sometime during destroying it or upon destroying it, a breeder will spawn that hast to be killed or he will overrun you. After that, head to the newly spawned second burrow in the southwestern chamber and destroy that too. I don’t remember if anything special spawns here, just kill it all. To be safe, we had two people leave that southwestern burrow early to protect Hodgins and finish .it by the last two people.
I forgot how many burrows you destroy until the eastern one pops up but that one is critical. The eastern burrow spawns two scavengers that will rip your group apart, especially if you destroy multiple burrows at once and have some breeder etc. running around.
The point is, that eastern scavenger burrow is triggered by either destroying a whole lot of western burrows or directly by destroying the middle one. So keep that middle one from the start, it’s just spawning little hatchlings that are manageable and destroy other burrows first! If you got past the scavengers you have virtually won. Nothing that spawns now is going to overwhelm you anymore. Just run around organized and do the burrows one by one.
Positive experience here for once:
I’m running dungeons every evening with my buddies. We’re mostly focusing on one or two different dungeons and are figuring out the different paths.
We can run all 3 paths of CM in succession and receive intended rewards (60 tokens per path), except for 2 people in our guild who have this nasty bug.
I think it takes us a little bit more than 2 hours or so to complete all paths, including breaks and the usual time wasting.
My point is: it is possible to run consecutive dungeons in a reasonable amount of time and get the full reward (if you are one of the lucky players that are not bugged obviously).
We didn’t actually note the time for the paths (will do tonight) but I think it’s about half an hour per CM path. There are propably players out there that finish the dungeon in half the time but we’re definitely not slow, so you don’t have to worry about speed, at least in CM.
… C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Temp … another gw2.exe … copy-paste it to your GW2 folder instead of that empty one.
That did it. Many thanks!
Hey there,
The title pretty much sums up my problem. My GW2.exe is not deemed a valid win32 application by my system and can not be started.
So far I tried completely deleting and reinstalling the game but it didn’t help at all.
I’m using the following
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Service Pack 1 (I update frequently)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @3Ghz
4GB Ram
I can access the game launcher by using the Gw2Setup.exe on my dvd and still start the game though. As far as I understand it my game files, except for GW2.exe seem to be okay?
My GW2.exe as well as my temporary file are both shown as 0kb files as you can see here:

That’s all I can think of right now. If you need some more data please tell me.
Yup, still bugged. Bump.
