lozarette please spare us your ignorant view of the world. If you think every place in the world is connected trough YOUR isp, then your replies here simply cannot have any value.
There are post-communistic countries where in most of their area there is only 1 isp and such ISPs are taking away whats standard for the areas where there is competition and ask for huge amount of money to keep IP. Thanks to communists who are still in goverments those countries arent developing quick enough to catch up to the most developed areas. Add to that WW2 just before communistic occupation and you will get an idea how Poland looks like, where you can actually choose your isp only in bigger cities.
Wow, that’s a lot of venom for a post that was essentially correct. My view is not based on the user having a Static IP (Which is rediculously expensive even where I live, thank you.) but on them having a DHCP lease that functions according to basic DHCP principles. I was right, the way he is connecting requires turning off his modem (wireless connection card) when he turns off his computer, and that is why he’s changing IP addresses so often.
No need to get snippy.

Were you logging into the game at the time? If not, I would recommend that you reset your password. I would also recommend that you never click on links in emails that you have any doubt about. You can always navigate to the site directly and reset your pass that way.
Are you hooked up through dial-up or what? Even with most consumer connections being DHCP, you can usually hold an IP address indefinitely if you aren’t turning your modem or router off for extended periods of time.
I’m not sure whether Anet has a way to disable the IP authentication. Honestly I would be looking into why your IP address is changing so often, unless it’s intentional.
If you were educated on the subject, you’d realize that worrying about packet sniffers in this context is foolish. Which has been my entire point all along, and you seem to have missed it repeatedly.
If you were paying attention, you would realize that he wasn’t saying “worry about packet sniffers,” only that it is a tool available to people today. If you re-read the initial post, you’ll see that he was agreeing with you.
Everyone, calm down. Take a deep breath. Walk outside for a bit. (Unless it’s eleventy-billion degrees, then just look out a window or something.)
I swear, you techno-geeks and your pride… (said the techno-geek.)
I deleted my level 35 Charr Warrior and I want him back!

no1 ever does that in ANY game..and how do u accidently select your character, press delete, click on the popup and type his name and then press delete again lol?
Ya I’ve done it lol, in other games where I wanted to quickly delete 2 or 3 characters I select the wrong one by mistake and I don’t know cause I’m looking down at my keyboard and going through the whole confirmnation process :P
…and you somehow don’t notice that you are typing the name of your favorite character?
@mcl.9240: Dood, you…are not…my nemesis
My nemesis is Captain Hammer. (Couldn’t resist!)
Seriously though, I’m always going to disagree with anyone that says “Don’t worry about [method of getting your account data], no one does that/it’s too complicated/that never happens/etc.”
Assume nothing; secure everything. It’s better to be worried about things that probably won’t happen than to not worry and have your account compromised.
I didn’t post the names because at this point I really don’t know what kind of uncalled for situation could happen but let’s just say that the news on TV are far more disturbing than my character names.
Apparently the line that shouldn’t be crossed in GW2 is nowhere near the line in real life.I mean some people really are called “kitten”.
If it’s bad enough that the forum kitten’d it, it shouldn’t be in your name. Based on what you’ve said so far, I’m guessing you’re talking about ahem Richard. If that’s the case, you should have known better.
Considering all we have to go on is your word that the names weren’t offensive and both the reporter(s) and Mod(s) word that they were…. you’re outvoted.
Not saying they are right or you are wrong, only that we don’t really know since you can’t post the offensive(?) names.
so i have the problem with register gw2 CE retail code to another e-mail and not link it to the pre-purchase one.
Is it possible to buy a normal edition or digital deluxe and add the cd-key to my pre-purchase account??
Oh I don’t think you need to do that! If you have a retail code, the team can help you re-link. It may take a few days, to be honest, but I do believe it can be done. I really encourage you to contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They will be able to assist you.
“a few days” in this case meaning at least a week. We’re STILL trying to get our guild leader back into the game with this same issue, and he opened his ticket on September first (ten days ago).
