having the same problem, on “206.127.159.161:0”, map chat updates, slowly, guild chat is fine, i can talk to the guild, I can move but can’t use skills and can’t wp out of the map
A 1-minute offset wouldn’t have any effect on people trying to get into the map, considering how random people leaving is anyway.
It’s not like there’s any way for people out of the map to know the exact moment someone logs out, and the map temporarily being a few players short of max capacity while each one’s reservation to clear won’t make a difference on the map’s performance
It would impact the players that dc for literally a second after an hour of hard work in DS only to not be allowed back in due to someone else spamming “join in”
I understand the frustration. Fighting Tequatl, disconnect, back in empty map. Still not too sure about reserving a slot. Means others could miss out on an event and the event could fail because players can’t get in because slots are reserved for people who might come back. A player disconnects, could just be a random cut off and they just need to log back in. Or it could be something bigger, a few weeks back a digger doing some road maintenance nerby managed to cut through an underground phone line. Any events I might have been taking part in then would have probably been long over by the time I was online next. Somebody would be held out because a slot i reserved for me when I couldn’t do anything until the phone line was repaired.
Or it could be that they chose to leave, in the map for another reason and finished. No point in reserving a slot for them when even if they log back in they aren’t part of the big event going on and won’t care about which instance they are in.
I’m sorry but Dragon stand? The map that locks you out of loot at the end and lasts an hour and a half? 1 minute waiting will hardly lock an alternate player out if the other player leaves.
As for “a player quitting locking people out” argument it would literally have to be 1 line of code on a map swap or a log out that says “remove them from the list”. However if they never trigger those and still leave, Then they have a 1 minute window
As far as I see it, WvW works with queues because it’s a none dynamic map, the instance is fixed for everyone, PvE has dynamic maps which change player size and delete themselves to create new instances, saving on server usage.
In terms of joining a PvE map, it would have to say “is the map full? No? Let them in” or “Is the map full? Yes, Are they on the reserved list? Yes? Ok let them in” the reserved list would contribute to filling the map but players would be removed from that list after a minute of not being present, so as not to bloat the servers still. I don’t see how that is of detriment to the servers while also being great quality of life to players
30 minutes seems to validate you didn’t read my comment thoroughly, I said it would store absent players for a minute before opening the slot
Anet, please…
The amount of times I have spent an hour in DS or other meta events, only to disconnect or crash at the end of fighting the mouth of mordremoth and not be allowed back in, missing out on rewards, and achievements.
Surely, it cannot be that hard to implement a list of players who are in that instance and if a player disconnects, give them a reserved spot for a minute, just a minute, until they can relog and get back in. If that minute passes, fine, they’re probably not coming back.
However, I disconnect, relog instantly, then proceed to spend 10 minutes spamming “join in Dragon Stand” in the hope I can get the loot I worked for, with the other 20 people who are trying to get back in. Surely that just puts more stress on the server from people spamming “join” than a list would.
I would pay money for this feature, please

I know why there’s a limit and I understand that but its not that hard to put a clause saying:
if player1.guild = player2.guild
supressMessage = false
And that way guild leaders can message their members just fine
I run 2 guilds, one general social guild and a raid guild.
Some of the raid guild members dont represent due to the fact that all the content for that guild is more of an organised thing.
However, this poses a problem for communication. I try to plan raids and communicate with the guild as a whole leaving few options to organise. I can:
- place it in message of the day (which most members dont see)
- sit online for hours on end to message them when they log in (id rather not)
- mail them (doesnt require me to sit online for hours and everyone can see)
Here lies the problem… The mailing system is broken.
I cannot send guild wide mails since ArenaNet seem to think I will waste my time sending guild mails every 5 minutes. I also cannot go through the members of my guild and mail each one, 1 email, or short length, with days of gap between mailing that same person again. This is due to me sending 2 mails before being suppressed for an obnoxious amount of time.
Please add a way in which I can communicate with my guild without use of the MOTD, which does not work in my situation. Anything to communicate since the current systems require me to sit online for hours on end waiting for them OR sit online for hours on end sending mails with a 5 minute gap in between. Neither of which are pleasant.
Thanks, lucius
Please please please pleeeease remove mist form as “damage done before death” for the ele, it makes the whole death recap pointless for an ele. I dont know if I was killed by an attack, by condis, by a turret on the map. All that is in the recap is 17k damage from mist form and possibly 300 from bleed. I would like to know what is hurting and need to build against.
Thanks
well im an idiot, thanks!
mine was fractal 14 and 16
I’m having the same, I start the fractal and I don’t leave until the “are you ready?” box kicks me out
Can anyone tell me as to why Nevermore volume 1 is missing?
Volume 2,3 and 4 are there but no volume 1? How do I start trying to make it without volume 1?
Hi,
I play WvW for vabbi, we were T8 and won by over 100k points, we then got moved up to T7 and won again by a large distance… after that big win in T7, we got demoted back to T8 to the same people we just beat for 100k points.
Can someone please explain to me why the system or devs keep putting us into T8 when we clearly don’t belong here, having demolished T8 and T7 2 weeks in a row.
Thanks, lucius

Anet… cmon…
I pay £60 for your game with extras, that’s my small amount of money in your pocket. Then you announce the expansion, something I was very happy for. £35 for the expansion and the game? the money I can pay but is it really fair?
I pay you £60 for the game and a further £35 at least for the expansion and “the core game”. A new player comes along and spends £35, getting what I paid £60 for and extra.
Is this REALLY fair to the players who have poured hours of their time and money into the game you want people to play so bad?
Now, before a mod comments saying “this isn’t paying for the game, the game is free” well then… I’ll have my £60 back to be fair shall I? since I get the game for free. Do I get a second account? no. Compensation? no. A lower price? no.
We have played your game since launch and now we have to buy it again because the new players don’t like the idea of buying the base game?
It’s really not fair. following your logic I should have ignored your game for years and just waited for it to be free rather than buying something you put your heart into. Just sort it out. Do something so its fair. I try so hard to love this game and it seems every time I start to, you throw something at us which is just… disappointing.
The permanent items in my characters inventory is really annoying. I have items, I never use, yet it is still something in may keep for the future – like https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pile_of_Phantasmal_Residue
It’s cluttered with stuff like this. And I don’t get why they introduce new currencies like the geodes and bandit badges but don’t implement it into the currency tab.
Use your bank thats what its there for
I bought a bank slot… it was filled within 30 minutes, it hardly solves the problem
yeh :/ but there may be a way around that which I haven’t seen
Dear GW2 Devs,
My name is William, or lucius when online. I’m an avid player of your game and thoroughly enjoy it.
Due to the aim of making players explore the world of Tyria and the goal to make events less static and more fun to participate in, I have come up with an idea for events that you may like to include in the expansion or even the base game. I hope you take the time to read through my thoughts.
The Event:
World events, although great fun and rewarding, can become very static after a long time of playing, even though still fun. I think a fix to this would be to have a timed event spawn randomly in Tyria. The spawning of this event will not be revealed in plain sight. The goal is to search for the event and find it in the world rather than the location to be obvious to the experienced player.
Players, however, normally go for the lazy way and won’t search for the event unless there’s a reason. To combat this I suggest making the event much more rewarding, similar to The Great Jungle Wurm. This will encourage players to actively search for the event, encouraging exploration of the world at the same time.
Even if large groups of players work together to find the event, it is still a positive. This is because players will have to communicate, helping to keep the positive friendly environment that everyone has grown to love.
Creation:
I know creating an event like this is a lot of work so it may not seem ideal, but you could have a pool of possible places in which the creature can spawn and it will pick one at random. This means, rather than coding for truly random spawns, you can easier tie it into the lore of the world and it makes it easier to code.
I know choices you make need a reason which ties into the story of the world so I have thought of a few ideas.
Dragon:
Dragons, being a large part of the lore, would seem to be a good reason. A dragon could be flying the world, finding a place to start its curse. The dragon can swoop down at points in the map, settle, and start to spread its curse throughout the area in which it infects. This way, it will take less work to create, as the dragon doesn’t need to be themed to a specific area; It simply flies throughout Tyria.
Pool Mobs:
If the creation or re-use of a dragon doesn’t appeal to you, then you could have a pool of a few bosses, each possibly with a small pool of 2 or 3 locations to spawn. This could make the events much more suited to the possible locations in which it will appear, staying with the theme of the areas.
Mordremoth:
Not knowing for sure as I haven’t seen the expansion, but Mordremoth to me seems similar to the pale tree, spreading through the world with its roots with one main body, which, in this case can move freely as a dragon when it has enough power. To tie this event into the expansion, you could have Mordremoth’s roots sprouting in places throughout Tyria as his curse grows in power. These sprouts, being a body of Mordremoth, will have great power that causes great devastation. The players’ job, as a global event, is to hunt down these sprouts and kill them before Mordremoth’s power grows too strong throughout Tyria.
I believe this will bring a lot to the world of Tyria; Bringing it to life much more and encouraging players to explore and work together to achieve a greater challenge. To my knowledge, this hasn’t been done in an MMO before, but when have you not pushed to achieve new feats in games. It is what makes your game, along with the beauty and story, a much higher class than the competition.
I hope you consider this as an Idea and I’m looking forward to HoT. Thank you for creating such a great and beautiful world in which for the players to escape to and have fun.
Thanks for reading and I apologise for making you read my very large email,
- Will
As you can see, I wrote this as an email then realised that’s not a good way to contact you so react to it how you wish
