Try hitting windows on Khylo with a scepter. It’s idiotic. Water auto attack is the only one that seems to reliably hit.
There seems to be fairly vague information on what the difference between copper, silver, and gold chests is. The wiki seems to indicate a higher chance to get rarer items in more expensive chests. If this is true, then I can only hope it’s over 5 times greater a chance in gold chests, otherwise I don’t see much point in buying gold over copper. I really wish basic stuff like this was explained in-game.
Also, are crystals/slivers only obtainable from the uncommon/rare (respectively) gear, or can you obtain them from the most common gear?
I also dislike that this is being done. Switching to my focus on Mesmer just to get swiftness then switching back really adds no depth for me, it just makes playing the game to maximum efficiency more tedious. I don’t really think anything major would be lost by locking your build, or your weapon choice at least, once you have entered PvP.
If it must remain in the game, then create a system that makes OOC weapon swapping easier. Give me a bar on my UI to place weapons, allow macros, or something that makes switching not require me to open another window. As it is now, it just makes playing the game optimally more annoying.
But seriously, anyone arguing that this adds much depth or skill to the game…get real.
Oh my god, these forums are filled with nothing but whining and bad advice. Do yourself a favor and go watch some streams. There are some streamers that answer questions and give some nice advice. Of course, don’t put a ton of stock in what they say, but I certainly would trust them more than what I see here.
I can tell you one thing that has helped me a lot: play every class. You learn a crap load by doing that and at the same time you slowly learn the mechanics of the game as you begin to grasp how every class fits into the game. I’ve even played, deleted, and gone back to some classes (mesmer in particular) and have a completely new perspective now that I’ve learned more.
My guess is you just suck right now. Don’t feel bad. We all did at some point. When I look at my understanding of the game in the BWEs, I realize how idiotic some of my beliefs were.
I just started playing ele in PvP today after playing Warrior, Engineer, Guardian, and Thief but always getting bored, and I’m having a blast.
I decided to start with the build I saw on a Team Paradigm stream (scepter/dagger). It doesn’t do amazing burst damage or anything, but I find it does really well in 1v1 situations. On top of that, at least in pubs, I’m really hard to catch/kill, despite not being all that tanky. The mobility is really nice, as well.
It doesn’t really matter to me how underpowered people seem to think we are. I’m having fun and I’m not so weak that I can’t contribute (I think I contribute quite a bit). So unless you’re planning on min/maxing your teams for tournaments, I doubt the weakness, if even true, will matter for most people that just like to pub.
If I sat in one element in PvP, I would be an idiot.
Hi, I’m level 20 and I unlocked both Arcane Blast and Arcane Wave. It wasn’t until I started using AB that I realized the damage between the two wasn’t all that different, but I thought it should have been since AW is a PBAoE.
I took a look at the tooltip and, at 20 with my stats, AW says it does 699 damage, yet it hits for around 300ish (give or take). AB’s tooltip says 214 but also hits for around 300ish (give or take). Considering the base damage on the two tooltips is vastly different, they definitely shouldn’t be hitting for nearly the same damage.
Is the tooltip incorrect? Is the damage bugged?
