Completely agree with you, OP. I greatly enjoy how much I am more invested and interested in the lore and in the game after this new story and it makes me want to actually start playing GW2 again.
Two things that stood out were 1)Getting to know each person in the group more with every quest, making me actually care for them instead of throwing random people in that no one cares about. 2) Being the main character in OUR story for once
Excellent job so far can’t wait for the next one!

If you can kill someone in under 20 seconds they werent worth killing / recording, is really what I am saying, but its not a critisism to your play.
Almost all my kills are less than 20 seconds. If I get hit more than once I have to LR/sword 2/sword 2 out of there and try again.
Thats kinda my point. If all you are doing is going for a kitten burst kill and they have no defence agaisnt that then they are either terrible players or in a terrible build. With thieves and mesmers bursting people down all over the place in WvW anyone who is a going to take 1v1s seriously WILL have a defence against being bursted down and will survive the first burst at the very least.
That doesnt mean that tactic doesnt work on 90% of people, and it doesnt mean it cant work even vs good opponents, it just means it wont work first time vs good opponents.
IMO :P
I can also kill very bad players on my ranger and make a video and make myself seem like a god. Sure, I may edit most of the stuff that happened inbetween when I faced players with different classes who knew what they were doing. But kudos nonetheless!
1) condition of renewal and putting 30 points into WS to remove conditions periodically towards your useless pet will work
2) be smart when using your sword ? the sword is very finicky but when you practice with it you will learn how awesome it truly is.
3) “attack my target” f1 commands your awesome pet to attack the target that you have selected. what a concept. When the pet is aggressive and you press f3, the pet will return to you but will then attack after that as opposed to being passive and wont attack anything.
4) Good question, I’ve been wondering the same thing for more than a year now
5) Same as numero 4
Wow with this build I have found I can conquer anything! Ranger is OP now!
I’m so happy you were able to kill ppl in wvw on your ranger
1.) Ranger
2.) Elementalist
3.) Engineer
Dear Spirit Rangers,

Minion Mancers, Spirit Weapon Guardians, Turret Engineers, and Conjured Weapon Elementalists.Um. I don’t think you don’t. Running spirits is the only useful build the ranger has for GROUP play. Every other build is single target (besides trap ranger but why bring that when you could have a necro) and complete crap compared to other classes. However the spirit nerf is fair and hopefully people can stop whining about “Spirit Ranger OPness”
Guess what you need to do now when you play Spirits? Put them in a safe place.
Wow you don’t say!!! /sarcasm
I don’t think you realize you have always needed to put them in a safe place. Which is especially hard to do with the constant AoEs. Good luck trying to hold a point against the warrior’s fire field, you have to give it up or else risk losing the spirits.
Even my guildies laugh if I play on my ranger
Wow, sounds like a cool guild.. :/
My guildies and I are close so it doesn’t matter, it’s all fun and games. They would rather have another class that can bring more to the table, is all. I don’t want to be holding them back, that’s not fair to them.
Ranger pros
-taking camps is easy if you run BM because your pet can take all the damage from the mobs. It may take some time clearing it though.
-condi trap ranger can do very well in both roaming/WvW but if you’re going that way why don’t you just roll necro?
-spirit ranger excels against most 5v5’s
- Can be fun to stand at the side of a zergvzerg rolling power ranger and hitting people with the longbow.
cons
- Rangers have this annoying, broken “friend” designed to “help” them. The pet.
-spirits die so easily in WvW especially in zergs. Reroll
- Necro is better than trap ranger. Reroll
-Rangers don’t bring anything to the table in group play that other classes could do loads better. Reroll
- Power ranger damage is laughable compared to other classes. Warrior KS rofl. Reroll.
A few things I’ve learned from a year of playing ranger.
^
Don’t waste hundreds of gold on a ranger when you could be putting that money into another class that actually benefits your team. I remember laughing when I finally made a zerker warrior in WvW (that wasn’t fully geared) and how much dmg I was doing compared to a zerker ranger (that was fully geared).

Whilst I don’t think they need to be touched in PvE, especially with Rangers in general being one of the worst PvE professions
Why do people still say this? Ranger was one of the professions that helped obtain the fastest speed clear of CoF at approximately 5 minutes. Their frost spirit is such a huge boon to group dps and is completely unique of things like might stacking (IE, no other class can provide frost spirit’s dps boost).
I agree the pet does need a lot of work in pve settings, but it appears frost spirit alone is more than enough to justify bringing at least one ranger along in a dungeon/fractal.
People may still say this because with most bosses, spirits will insta die. I tried using spirits for the Scarlet invasion and I would have to be at the very back of the fight to avoid all the AoE from the twisted robots and aetherblades, but by doing that no one is receiving the spirit buffs.
I know a thief that did SM solo aswel.
I need to see video proof of that.
Pics or it didnt happen.
The ranger class is definitely fun to play, I had such a fun time leveling it from 0-80 I didn’t even mind doing pve events (I’m a pvp/wvw guy). Just know that when you are looking for groups to do dungeons with or going out to do some WvW people may not completely accept your class. On countless occasions, I’ve been rejected by a group because they have this notion that rangers will only drag them behind. Even my guildies laugh if I play on my ranger and ask me to play a class that could help more. The pet mechanic is the deal breaker that hinders the Ranger from any true progress, sadly.
No harm, no foul! I just hope they aren’t going to nerf spirits in PvE/WvW because I want to have my Ranger be useful for something in roaming groups.
Leuca: You’re pointing out the original reasons spirits weren’t as tanky on launch. They got a 100% health buff and then a 60% health buff if I remember right. The community — even non rangers — begged for tankier spirits. Now people are starting to understand why spirits were where they originally were. And now we have to oscillate back to tone them down. Only benefit I see from this is frost spirit going to 100% proc rate. Next, when conditions get “fixed” what happens to the old mainstay build: traps? That one hasn’t really been touched since launch but it’s coming I’m sure. Lol
You are talking about the problem of spirits in PvP right? Because I will kindly disagree with you otherwise.
I solo towers all the time. It’s all about luck though, enemy forces have to be completely distracted by something else on the opposite side of the map. Even just one scout can kitten everything,
I understand why the Spirit Ranger needs to be nerfed in PvP for all you have to do is hit shortbow auto as your opponent struggles to target you with all the AI cluttered around and dies within a matter of seconds. However, I personally have no trouble at all taking down a spirit ranger, I myself roll spirit, because these new rangers who play spirit ranger have no idea what they are doing and I laugh. AoE condis, CC, warrior longbow are all great ways to take down the spirits. Outside of PvP spirit ranger is a complete joke. Spirits die in 2 hits by dungeon bosses, a few seconds in a zerg in WvW (making the already useless Ranger even more so) and have even had a warrior kill all the spirits just from one GS #3. Please keep the changes to spirits in PvP specifically.
