Hmm … a suggestion, although it may sound facetious at first.
If you play full-screen and are not changing the camera controls constantly you will always be pretty much at the same place on the screen, right? Or am I missing something?
I am sure you can find something that will put text at a fixed location on your screen. Just type in your name, title, and whatever else you want to display.
that’s a really great idea. I’ll look into that. thanks
So whats happening right now in this thread? Are you and I talking about the hopeful changes to having an option to have our names visible or are we talking about something that literally has no meaning? I believe the latter. So, in order to cut off the head of the snake I wont continue this portion of the conversation any further.
That is a great idea. My wife yells at me from time to time about my “clicking”. I could see this being a good quality of life change for many other reasons as well.

Illconceived Was Na.9781: You’re right about the way changes happen. But in order for a change to happen, someone has to speak up. Which I’ve done, in hopes that there will be enough people to make it worth it for anet to change.
dsslive.8473: I know what she/he was saying. She/he found a minor flaw in my argument and capitalized on it instead of the point. that’s it. She/he agreed with what I was saying otherwise. And the absolute lack of tact in this thread is the only thing I’ve taken “personal”.

It really doesn’t matter who develops the game or publishes or stands on the street corner and sells bootleg gw2 disks. The point is, I as well as many others (yourself included) would like to have a “own name” type of option. I came to the community forum to express my hopes for the future of gw2.
I’m not trying to be difficult Inculpatus cedo.9234. I’m just frustrated that I have to defend my stand, even from the people that want the change themselves. A similar change would have absolutely ZERO impact on the people who don’t find value in it. But screw me right? “Welcome to the Internet: Where even when you’re right, you’re wrong.”
NCSoft doesn’t develop this game.
That said, I miss being able to target myself as in GW1. But, I certainly would not want any significant development resources spent on it, at the cost of new content being delayed.
actively develop or not, NC Soft pust their name on everything that belongs to them. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and look in the left corner if you’re confused.
edit: At no point did I say that my “wants” needed to be met at the cost of everyone else’s content being delayed.

Do you also run around with a sticker on your hand with your name written so you can see it?
If not then why is it important to see your name in game dont you know what you named it?
Your argument is moot. The same could be asked about the importance of it being hidden also. The fact of the matter is that I’m not the only person in the community that finds value in having my own name visible. Therefore, I made a simple request.
Hero tab has that info already and more.
Right. If I was worried about the Hero tab, I would have made a post about the Hero tab.
I’d like to be able to see my own name, guild tag, and the titles I’ve earned. Having no option to view your own name is like building a beautiful home with fantastic gardens then never going outside ever again to look at any of it. I know its possible NC Soft. Lineage: The Blood Pledge, the lawful system, made me obsess over making my name red or blue.
In closing, please add an option to show our char names.
Thank You.
I haven’t had access to the TP in days. It seems as though every mac issue possible has happened to me thus far… just my luck I guess :/
bleh…
still crashing
x_x!!
With respect to game crashes or not starting, the #1 first thing to do is:
1) go to your Libraries folder —> Applications Support
2) delete the guild wars 2 folder there.
3) restart the game: the Application support folder is automatically recreated
All of the game launch bugs I have experienced are due to cider not updating its image properly on exit. This happens somewhat predictably after that occasional in-game crash.
If you cannot start your game, delete the Applications Support guildwars2 folder and try again. Works for me every time. If that doesn’t work, then try the other remedies suggested.
this fixed my game crash after update issue.
Access the Library folder:
- press “Go” on your mac options bar
- press and hold the “option” key
- click “Library”
after that you can follow Valenar.8920’s directions.
mine is doing the same thing.
i have an empty box where gw2 should be in the middle of my screen since update. i cant play gw2 if there is no way to see the game.
i just want to farm my legendary wep mats lol
:’(
Any DE or WvW is a choppy 1-10 fps blur on my screen. There is literally no reason why my machine should be struggling this hard to render medium graphic settings, let alone the low graphic settings I’ve been reduced to.
MacBook Pro
Retina, 15-inch, 2013
2.4 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
OS X 10.9.1
No matter what settings I use, I get terrible fps. Roaming around alone I get ~20 fps, ~5-15 fps if there is another player anywhere near me, or a completely unplayable ~1-10 fps if that person (pve or wvw) casts a spell. I’ve tried resetting my PRAM/SMC and gfxCardStatus with no positive results.
Running:
MacBook Pro Retina Early 2013
2.4 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
OS X 10.9.1
hmmm i wasn’t aware. i thought they were race specific. ill check it out. thanks!!
just to be clear, i’m looking for a pve/wvw skin. any help on the topic would be very much appreciated.
