The same thing happened to me. I worked around it by starting a new installation on another pc I have access to. I let it get as far as starting to download the bulk of the data before stopping it. I then copied the gw2.exe over to the original pc and popped it into the installation folder. I did a backup of the installation folder first.
If you have a chest like this go to graphics options and change your interface size to Normal and it shouldn’t crash when you go to open it. If Normal doesn’t work I’d suggest trying the other sizes as well.
