The WvW season rewards were so lame. I cant even be surprised at this nonsense anymore
They’ve already been given out?
1 Mini Dolyak
-3 Tastes of Liquid World Experience (came as 2 stacks according to log (1 + 2)) Same here
-100 Dragonite Ore
-100 Empyreal Fragments
– 5 Scrolls of Knowledge (5 stackes, each 1)
– 5 Tomes of Knowledge (5 stacks each 1)
– 1 Essence of Luck (Legendary, 500 Luckfirst place in each league gets finisher. You can farm all that crap in a few hours, leagues was a complete fail to me.
LOL!!! @ Anet!
Wow. I expected nothing. I am still disappointed.
lol @ FC having the toughest schedule. Everybody thinks that about their league schedule.
Well, being against any server is tough for ET, yes.
Will HoD and Kain team up against FC again tonight like they did last night? Kinda sad that two huge zergs, working together, couldn’t take Overlook away from a group of barely over a dozen FC players.
Step 1: Put down arrowcart in hard to reach spot
Step 2: build arrow cart and aim it at enemy siege/zerg
Step 3: Spam 1 and drive away enemy zerg
Step 4: brag about siege doing its intended job on the forums
The joke is that there was no one in the keep until we arrived. But thanks to the space you and Kain maintained so as not to hit each other by accident, we ran in with barely any damage. I get that you didn’t want to kill your Kaineng brothers by mistake, but leaving that gap between you guys? Thanks for giving us such a nice corridor to waltz through.

So what we learned from S1: be Silver league material, and intentionally get your WvW guilds to stop playing before season begins, allow your server to slip to Bronze even when you don’t belong there. When surprise!!! your coverage and numbers give you an easy win, make sure to beat your chest at your superior “skill”.
XD
Someone let Ferg know, zoom hack is obvious. Wish my AC could shoot down stairs through a floor or rocks.
If you look where I am on mini map, It’s clearly not possible to hit that far down the stairs from the right parapet directly above the tunnel. (no matter how you angle your camera)
Also, pretty obvious it’s an AC. Bleeds on me not cripple from barrage.
Not sure if zoom hack.
Can’t see exactly where you are right there, but we had ACs pretty much in every corner of our EB keep last night, including the tunnel.
If we could stand on it, we built on it. Maybe it was a case where the AC was in a corner where you didn’t look?
don’t want to embarrass your guild.
No need for you to do something when they can do it themselves.

It was a poor analogy on my part, the point I was trying to make (and failed) was that losing should not net you rewards. In the situation I mentioned they don’t keep score because “everyone is a winner”
I agree. Winners should obviously get rewards. More significant ones, obviously.
In a perfect world, players should get rewarded on the war effort, as well (even if they’re on a losing server, some players put in a lot of work). It’d be hard to implement, but if the game kept track of a player’s participation in the taking or defense of objectives, kills, etc. then maybe players, regardless of servers, could still get distinctions for their efforts.
That way, you could get one prize for server performance, plus one for personal performance.
“The best rewards should go to the bottom teams, to boost them!”
This sounds like my nephews Tee ball games where they don’t keep score because everyone is a winner… rofl
Not that I think the 1st place should get nothing, but the analogy is flawed there. Regular sports has rules and teams have numbers of players according to the rules. WvW is completely different in the sense that it’s as if you had, say, hockey teams, playing 24/7, where some teams had superior numbers fielded at any given time, and some teams were able to field a sufficient number of players only a third of the time or so, sometimes not even having a goalie.
Don’t compare WvW to regular competitive sports. They’re two different things.
ANet do you realize that you only have a game while you have players to play it right? What happen when the numbers of players drop to an unsustainable number?
Same thing that NCSoft did to City of Heroes…they shut it down.
City of heroes was making a profit when it was shut down. People are still scratching their heads as to why NCSOFT killed it. This isn’t ANet’s dept though.
I thought CoH wasn’t doing as great as it could have, and they killed it just so they would have better numbers to show their investors?
So, you guys will have “Fun” and we will lose this week. Just how its gonna be. 10 cant hold 30. Its below the #s needed to allow siege to make a difference because you can just roll over the front lines
3-5 people in a sieged tower can make all the difference. About a dozen on siege can save a keep. I know, because we’ve done it numerous times in week 1 against HoD. I remember attacks on two different gates at the same time on our keep in EB. The only thing that prevented the two HoD zergs from taking the keep were a dozen FC players manning superior ACs and mortars, and wiping the floor with HoD blood.
You only need numbers to take things, very few to keep them. What you need is good coordination and communication. Also, people willing to stay behind at towers and keeps (which is harder said than done).
From what I’ve seen, you guys at GoM can manage that, we’re on pretty equal footing these days.
Look the infamous HoD zerg.. err wait that’s GoM…
<3 the emotes too, the best part was when they all ported and went back to Bay, we clearly outnumbered them.
You’re looking at pretty much the entirety of GoM’s WvW population compacted onto one map, and yet you STILL don’t have the outmanned buff.
Consider the following…
If you gather your servers entire WvW population into a single force, you may want to do something more useful than flip control points that do not directly earn points for the server and are capped as quickly with 1 person as they are with 5000 people. Thanks for the tip. Here’s one for you: If you don’t hike up your skirt and bend yourself over a table to avoid a higher league, you might actually fight servers with large enough populations to give you fun and challenging matchups instead of going up against servers who keep themselves entertained by zerging empty bloodlust points and portal-bombing dolyaks.
Already discussed….
I want to address the comments that HoD doesn’t belong in bronze.
The first point I want to make is that the very concept of “belonging” to a league is artificial. ANet divided the servers up into arbitrary groups of 6/9/9 based on rank. Somebody is going to be number one in each league but who that is doesn’t mean anything since if they had done 12/12, 9/9/6, 9/6/9, or 6/6/6/6 then things would be radically different.
The second point I want to make is that the bottom silver server is Northern Silver Peaks. The last time HoD faced NSP was in week 31 and HoD was roflstomped. In fact, for the most part every bronze server that went up against NSP has been roflstomped for some time. If HoD had somehow snuck past NSP into silver then the same complaints about a server not “belonging” in bronze would still be made, they would just be aimed at NSP.
My third point is that the during league week 5, Sorrows Furnace lost to HoD by only 50k points. If HoD doesn’t belong in bronze then neither does SF because we’re pretty closely matched. (In league week 6 SF got crushed by over 140k but that’s not representative of the strength of the two servers because SF decided to take it easy that week).
Finally, in non-league weeks 35 through 41 HoD was ranked 18 and that was after slowly clawing its way up from rank 21. In the week immediately prior to the season HoD went up in rank to 17. Given the way Glicko ranking works it’s unlikely HoD could have done anything to jump higher than that.
I know WvW has serious population and coverage imbalances. Outside of this league stuff every server that isn’t Blackgate or Vizunah experiences it. There’s nothing anybody can do about that. All you can do is have good fights and keep improving yourself, your guild, and your server.
Here’s a big “/salute” to every FC and GoM that comes out and does their best in this tough fight. I’ll see you on the field.
And in what way does anything you’ve said have anything whatsoever to do with the point that it is foolish to have 30ish people capping a single ruin?
No, you should just stop to think about your question and learn why it’s bad on your own.
This makes no sense what so ever?
Spelled out for you…
Grouping up and helping your servermates finish up their WvW achievements during a blowout matchup isn’t foolish. It’s a common courtesy. A good majority of that blob in the photo are not experienced WvW players and it’s very difficult for them to hit the goals on their own while the Silver League Dodgers are stampeding around every map.
Look who is being quoted on my comment before you respond. Wasn’t talking to you. You guys won’t let go of this “Silver Dodger” thing, you would’ve been spanked by NSP just as bad and been saying the same thing.
Stop your pointless QQ it’s getting quite old.
So then, if you’re not dodging the Silvers but have the numbers for them, are you not simply saying HoD just sucks and can’t defeat servers with equal numbers?
What happened with FC? Seems like someone forgot to put the Zerg in the Ferg today. You guys seemed a little less Zergilicious last week too.
FC doesn’t zerg much outside of EB, despite what you may have heard.

Haven’t you heard about the Ferg?!? Everybody knows that the Ferg is the zerg!

Because anecdote = the norm, amirite? That’s still nothing compared to the HoD zergs we see on a daily basis. My favorites are the blobs running away when they don’t have a 10:1 advantage.

Seriously HoD, it takes 70 of you to take down 30 FC? If you guys didn’t have the numbers you wouldn’t even hold a camp.
So, after spamming chambers for 2 whole days i ended up with 30 Blue keys, 15 Green keys and 0 Pink keys, please Anet, explain to me how is that even possible ? What is the drop rate, how does the game do it ?
On top of that it seems my guardian wich is on full toughness is 1 shooted. I invested more than 400 G in a character that drops like a mosquito, but i look cool right ? I’ve read somewhere that tower of nightmare is soloable ? Where ? In what dream ? Also please explain how can a group of 3 mobs can put 5 stacks of torment, 5-8 of confusion, immobilize and fear, but we have to use more than 5 skills to go near those numbers …
Oh, i almost forgot, how i am suposed to solo champs or events where are groups of 3 veterans and 1-2 elites in the agro range ?
Why i am forced to make an elementalist/warrior with healing build ? And even with those you must dodge/run.
GG Anet, we have to much gold and you guys run out of ideas how to make us to spend it ?P.S. Sorry for my bad english Cheers.
The tower itself is impossible to solo if you need to do all the events to progress, pretty much. But the instances, including the last, are perfectly soloable. The difficulty scales with the number of players in the instance. You just need a bit of patience on bosses like the Hybrid at the end of the last instance, but it’s soloable – I did it without getting downed tonight.
I got stuck with Marjory’s Dagger skin because the description of this update’s weapon skins doesn’t say it’s only usable once, unlike the armor slins which specifically state that they are one-use each. At 600 gems, compared to 800 for a six-piece armor set, I thought I’d get a skin item that could be applied more than once.
I’m not looking forward to receiving this “account-bound” mask that’s actually bound to the one character I use it on.
This is seriously kitten ing me off, especially since I know all that stuff could be unlocked in a panel and retrievable multiple times like the AP skins, if ANet wanted to.
I’m a bit new to the forums, so I have no idea what do you mean by kitten?
Automatic censorship by the forum software for most offensive words.
I’ve seen a Sword&Shield/Hammer warrior last forever against several groups 4-5 opponents for a couple of hours and take them down one by one, regenerating and running so fast I could hardly believe it was possible. Either it was cheats, or the most annoying Lancelot act ever, but that guy just wouldn’t let anyone pass him.
I wanna be that guy.
its a money sink man why be able to use the skin more then once that would effectively make transmutation stones worthless if you want the skin bye stone tranfer skin to white item then to the desired item.
The skins bought on the gem store could be usable more than once, like the ones gained through the achievement points. The stones would still be useful for the skins bought from the Black Lion skin trader, etc.
“Double-click to consume." It is consumed after use.
I can read. The armors also say the item is consumable. When you double-click to consume the armor pack, it unpacks the six skins in your backpack. The consume part in the description for the weapon skin is also to unpack the skin. Once unpacked, the item is in the backpack and ready for use. The armor skins are consumable items too, but they specify they can only be applied once. The store description for this item does not say so.
Contrary to other item skins (armor) in the gem store, the Staff, Axe, and Dagger skins from this last update do not specify that they are usable only once:
“Double-click to consume.
Double-click to apply this look to any other dagger.” (Marjory’s Dagger Skin)
as opposed to:
“This glove skin has no stats of its own and can be applied once to replace to appearance of another gloves item of any weight class.” (Toxic Gloves Skin)
I was under the impression that since it didn’t specify the “usable once” part, they could be used more than once (without using the Transmutation Splitter), possibly through an unlock or something like that. Now I wasted gems on a skin I can use only once even though the description doesn’t say so.
Why is that not mentioned?
A weapon or armor skin of some sort would be nice. Just something to show, but not something that makes any difference in gameplay.
Same here. I didn’t get those weekly chests either. I’ve been doing daily WvW since before the season started. I have my Season 1 chest key too.
This is important, ANET.
That song is what gives life to the event. Without it, it’s just bland, and pardon the rudeness, stupid.
This. Pretty much.
Hey, ANet, is there a way to go through that celebration at Fort Trinity again? Maybe I could enjoy it without having to level up an alt all the way to lvl 80 and finish all the storyline ? If not, you should definitely think about it. WoW has ways of watching ‘ending’ cutscenes for some of the decisive events in the game (WOTLK – death of Arthas), so it would be nice if I could just re-do the instance and, you know, enjoy the victory like it was meant to be?
When i finished my story with my ranger, there was “Fear not this night” with voice in the ending of the story (the quest in fort trinity celebrating the death of the dragon).
Now 4-5 months after, I finished it with my mesmer, and there is no music at all. Just some credit text scrolling in my screen (which I can’t actually remember).
Is this a bug? If it’s not, that ending music really made me cry from emotion. Why did you take it out?
Or maybe i’m wrong and there was no music in the ending…. but I’d bet for it!
edit: Confirmed it’s a bug. After the time the “Fear not this night” should be playing, another music just started (Snaff’s workshop)
Music did not play for me either.
Bummer. I can’t re-do the ending scene, I was recording it to show a couple of friends, now this kinda kills it.

Honestly, big huge message in red at the top of the forum when you log on saying servers down for maintenance. The most recent four announcements on the right side of the forum’s main page talking about the servers going down and are now down.
Are you surprised that the lane ends on the highway after the three miles of “Lane ends merge right” signs and flashing arrows?
Who has time to waste in reading the short messages posted by staff members all over the place when there’s some complaining to be done?
I think what killed GoM isn’t DH or FC —- it was the PvE Living World events. Looks like half the server practically disappeared out of WvW when the Tower of Nightmare started.
Can’t that kitten wait until the reset happens??? Being told that our game will reset in 3 mins when there’s less than 90 minutes left to the WvW week matchup is beyond frustrating, ANet. Especially when you don’t even give the 3 minutes…
That is just plain wrong.
The screenies in this thread… Good god.
What are you running this game on???
I tried the solutions offered elsewhere in this forum (like the port 80 rerouting with the link to the GW2 executable) and nothing worked.
Out of desperation, I cleaned up the DNS cache on Win7, deleted my network connection data and re-did it all over and factory-defaulted my router.
Somehow it worked without disconnecting for about 5 hours today. Crossing fingers that this fixed it, whatever was the issue.
Anet, I shouldn’t have to almost do a reinstall of Windows 7 just to keep playing your game after a daily reset, seriously.
Ok guys, I’ve played this game since January, but the last couple of weeks have been the worst at random disconnects. Especially today after reset (it’s 9:10pm Montreal time here), I literally cannot play the game for more than 2 minutes before skills stop responding, shortly before being thrown back to character select screen with a message that says:
“The game client lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again. (Code=7:11:3:191:101)”
I can be in Queensdale, LA, an empty spot with no players around, or somewhere in WvW, it makes no difference. What is happening???
If you transfer and you’ve already participated in WvW, the stuff you get at season’s end will be tied to the results of the server you started on, not whichever server you’ll be playing on after transfer.
I’ve experienced skill lag, especially healing skill lag, when facing off HoD zergs and even small groups that were perfectly able to heal up. But that did not happen against Kain players, strangely… I’ve seen enough HoD hacking of various sorts that I suspect some of the ‘lag’ is not simply due to servers.
Nice. Now u all can leech on other ppl that actually play wvw and will work for highest place for your server for remaining weeks.
im not a leech like the op
but you are a farmer… what difference doest it makes ? none.
I played with Rikki, def not a farmer. We’ve fought off enough HoD zergs 1-to-10 that I can attest to that.
Its obviously not ok, and I’m not saying that you shouldn’t tell Anet its stupid, but they also collect data from the event. When they see the pathetically small number of players who made any of these recipes, they’ll known that it was stupid. What I’m saying is you should say “10k skulls? that’s stupid” and buy it on the trading post, rather than dwelling on it like its the end of the world.
Or maybe they’ll see players buying gems to get gold and buy the mats, and they’ll think “we got money, mission accomplished” ?
yeah us people on stacked servers who had in average a minute wait to play on the map we wanted to be on and no wait on at least one map now have hours long ques. You can’t tell me this is from wvw guilds only. A bulk of this is from pve people who want the achievements and most likely will not do wvw after they get them. In the mean time the people who do wvw daily get to sit around in wait. Not the best way to reward dedication.
Why would PvErs xfer to upper-tier servers just to get achievements? No one in their right mind would pay for a server transfer to a busier server in order to get achievements that they’ll have to wait hours before they can even try to go for. That’s completely stupid.
Besides, those PvErs you’re accusing are waiting in the queue, too. And odds are that if it was a problem, it wouldn’t be a problem just for your W, but for all the Ws in the W3. So if the PvErs were really a problem, they’d be a similar problem for your 2 enemy worlds and in the end, the point is moot.
Very good post! Unfortunately the sad truth is that they arent interested in small fight or give you a backup but only achievement. Yesterday i died like 3 time against the same group was spawn camping but they always run back in tower. Maybe they think if they die in game die in real life. Like in the film ! XD
Believe it or not, not all newcomers to WvW are bad. I’m enjoying it, reminds me of the RvR of DAoC and WAR (well, for its first months anyway). Achievements can be a good incentive to take part in the fight, but you won’t get the Season 1 key if you don’t persevere and learn to play. I started WvW like what, 3 days ago? I can’t play all the time, but I still managed to hit rank 21 and I’m upgrading my ram skills so I can help my groups open gates ASAP.
Some of us are drawn to the WvW for achievements, but I think only those who like it will stay. It’s such a different beast from PvE that no one who hates WvW will stay.
Welcome. You probably aren’t used to reading that because most of the response to you guys coming into wvw for the achievements has been negative, but honestly, lots of us (people who’ve been playing wvw for a while) are happy to have new comrades.
I do have something I’d like to say as you join the fight.
Dying is part of wvw, much more so than in pve. You aren’t a bad player if you die. You are if you run away at every chance of a fight, though, so practice getting used to dying, and as you practice you might find you die less. There has been a rise in running away since the league season began, and I suspect that’s about a lack of confidence rather than sheer jerk-heartedness. I’m pretty sure most people run a lot when they begin wvw. It can be terrifying to have other players attacking you if that isn’t what you’re used to. But we need to watch each other’s backs, and it’s depressing to be the person who thought they were in a random 5v5 and then turns around to find they’re left 1v5. Also, if you’re running you’re not fighting, and that gives enemies a much easier time taking you out.
Of course, sometimes you should run. If you’re in a 1v5, run!
People might disagree with me, but I think the point about letting yourself die is one of the most important to know when you’re diving into wvw. And I do mean my “welcome.” I’m glad you guys are giving this game mode a chance, because it surprised me way back when I found out it was actually my favourite part of Guild Wars 2, and now I can’t imagine the game without it. You might find that too. Good luck, have fun.
Yeah, I’m still a bit new to WvW, and dying all the time kinda surprised me at first. Of course, real players are a whole different beast than even the toughest bosses, so that’s expected. I see it like the first times I got invaded in Dark Souls. You stand your ground as long as you can, and if you think the enemy’s gonna take you out, try and make it the hardest kill they’ll ever get. Heck, I’m enjoying going on ‘suicide mission’ runs, even.
On Ferguson’s Crossing. Can confirm that SB hasn’t spawned all of the last 6 hours I spent online. Sister Brenda hasn’t moved from her location, and the Champ Oakheart hasn’t spawned in at least as long either. The only thing I have seen spawn is the Troll.
