It’s okay you don’t like LFG systems, but here’s the reality of the situation. In a few months you are going to be hurting looking for people to play with.
Right now people wait too long and give up trying to group for dungeons. So people get bored and start playing other games. Realistically we have people waiting upwards of an hour and failing to find a group. So people will move on and they do.

I agree this is a great game. I didn’t find bag space to be that big of a problem. However yeah gear sucks leveling up. I found almost no variety above level 40 for my ranger. Almost all pirate gear. Below 40 it was the same 3 styles of gear. Also other classes shared those styles and everything in the end looked more generic then I was expecting.
I think WoW goes too far with the LFG system, but the system we have doesn’t go far enough. In fact it’s so bad, the WoW system is actually better, based on the fact that even if you wait an hour, at least you know you’re going to get a group. That’s more then you can say with the system we have here.
LED Head is dead wrong on this issue. What he has said has shown me a distinct lack of awareness on the issue. (not his most recent comment)
Simply announcing you are looking for people while on your way to the dungeon and expecting a group by the time you get there, isn’t a real solution. The reality is you warp directly to the waypoint next to the dungeon entrance. /Map chat reaches the whole zone. Usually that zone is far below the level range of the dungeon, meaning a large portion of the small population you advertise to isn’t even able to accept.
Showing up to a Dungeon and having nobody be there is quite common. Waiting around for an hour is common. These issues go under reported because the player simply logs off or leaves, and doesn’t actually get to go to the dungeon. This game has a very high failure rate for getting people into dungeons.
Some times you get lucky and find people without waiting so long.
The LFG Tool only works in the area you are in. It doesn’t cross to other overflows or world zones. So in order to advertise anything remotely approaching a sizable group of people requires you travel between Lions Arch and the dungeon, spending money each time, constantly spamming LFG, and portal jumping in Lions Arch between capital cities. It also means staying in the overflow map, since that’s where new people will appear.
The LFG Tool when/if you actually see another person using it, doesn’t mention what they are grouping for, or what build/strategy the person is using. So even if it was used commonly you would literally have to message everyone on the list to find out what they wanted. It also doesn’t show the size of the person’s group.
Another Issue: WOW Group Finder.
I hated it when they came out with that, because I didn’t like auto teleporting. I’ve seen a lot of people complain about it too. People complain it makes people not talk to each other, because grouping is too easy.
Here’s the thing… Guild Wars 2 does this. It has streamlined this.
Every time you participate in a dynamic event, people sort of stream in and out without talking. Even worse than WoW. You say Hi, and people don’t even reply. So remember this when someone complains about WoW’s group finder. Remember this when you’re there alone at the dungeon entrance waiting for a group.

Oh wow I tried to find armor today for my Ranger, even with the filters the full first page was unusable. Was so thinking this.

I’m outside of Twilight Arbor on the “Devona’s Rest” server. Nobody else is here, I just spent about 30 mins jumping from Lions Arch to Divinity’s Reach advertising with no responses. Even listed myself as LFG, but the window was empty since I was the only one using it. Nobody in the guild is available.
I guess I’m not going to Twilight Arbor.
Update:
I waited 40 more minutes to get in with a group. But the servers crashed and we couldn’t finish the run.

One problem here is that you can’t see what skills the enemies are using, unlike GW1. So it’s much harder, and usually guess work / spam attacks to interrupt them.
First off, that Dungeon Finder in wow sucked. That’s not what we need.
The craptastic experience of Looking For Dungeon Groups with LFG:
1. Nobody uses it, so what hilariously little it can do is completely meaningless. It’s used so little that it’s safe to say 99/100 people don’t even know it’s there. That fact alone makes it a bad system.
2. When you do use it, if someone else does, you can’t tell what other people are grouping for, what their strategy is, or what kind of experience they have. There’s no comment field, nothing. It’s useless when used.
3. The game ‘world’ is already heavily divided amongst so many zones and overflows… LFG doesn’t even communicate across any of it. This is some kind of a joke…
4. Using the chat system to help find groups gets you spam blocked after just a few attempts.
My guild (probably a typical one) isn’t all online at the same time. We’re all different levels. Plus people got their own stuff to do. So getting guild members to help hasn’t been the golden goose it was advertised to be. Town’s not much better.
Also, waiting for Story Mode dungeons 10-20mins not that bad so soon after release with so many casual players still playing. Waiting 2 hours for Explorer Mode dungeons, and not even getting a proper group sucked. It sucked worse than WoW’s crappy soul sucking system, cause waiting around doing nothing is an absolute failure.
I seriously doubt end game content will be very fun. Sure the guild might do things every now and again, but I think it’s going to be a lonely time. People who want to run these dungeons should be able to find each other and there shouldn’t be this many barriers between them.
Arena Net, buddies, come on the jokes over.
