How come people read “there is a chance” and interpet it as “a big chance” instead of “a small chance”?
ANet did not specify the rarity of the skins. Consumers assumed that the chance would be big. Although it wouldn’t hurt to specify level of rarity (as I believe actual numbers to be spoiler-like) in terms of “rare” or “very rare”, it’s generally a bad practice to assume good odds (as a user of a system) when it comes to chance and heave a lot of money into it from the start.
There might be some bad PR from this, but I suspect that the noise from the people in this forum far from represents the full playerbase of the game. Considering that the people contributing to this thread make claims of opening “hundreds” of chests, the sample size compared to the total number of chests opened would probably be very small.
Adding to this that only the people that fail to produce skins are vocal, the data may very well be biased as well.
I wonder if the bifrost effects are applied to all illusions as a mesmer. On the other hand, staff-clones don’t move :<
A combo finisher/field added to the GS3 skill would be great fun, but seems unlikely.
It would be interesting if the skill left a field on the target location for a while, debuffing while you were in it. The animation wouldn’t fit anymore though and someone would probably cry nerf ;p
Good catch. I suspect a projectile must register to hit before the skill can be swapped to the next in the chain (scepter), altering attack speed. Just a guess tho. This might also be why staffs aren’t affected.
It’s a shame you can’t test the skill swap theory with swords :/
The whole "epitome" thing is a bit of an exaggeration, truly.
Speaking as someone playing a Mesmer as a main, I sometimes feel that our clones are weak, both in PvP and PvE. Naturally, this isn’t how I feel about it all the time, but at occasion. Mainly because of the fact that clones in many cases fail to distract properly, which can be frustrating as the user of the clones. I also understand that in a PvP environment, Mesmers can be very strong.
Something that I would like to see, but that will probably not happen anytime soon would be clones mimicking player movement for a duration after they are spawned.
Imagine that after using Phase Retreat or Mirror Images that the clones move for a second or two in a manner that mirrors the player character (a clone going left when the player moves right), whereafter they stand still for the rest of their duration. This is from a staff-viewpoint, and other weapons will probably spawn clones that move in different patterns.
This might be sufficient to confuse in PvP, but not for long enough for it to be too much of an advantage. On the other hand, I’m not an avid PvPer and only play that game mode sporadically, so this might be entirely too powerful.
As for the suggestion of mimicking your illusions, it feels unhelpful as you spawn close to them in many cases, meaning that you will most likely take the sweeping blows from an enemy if you do mimic. This would effectively render the entire act useless, considering that you still take damage from something your clones were supposed to divert away from you.
