Above 450?

As a master crafter; I just wandered around a lot and never made the link between the Orichalcum ore and gaining more levels… By Coincidence, I now read that you can level beyond450??? If I knew that earlier, I would have investigated that instead of boring myself with doing daily’s… Why is there no guide that mentions this and how can I learn these skills? Is it just trying out new recipes? How do i get these levels?

Or is this another puzzle/mystery that Anet is so fond of… (I really hate it when everything neeeds to be puzzled out. some puzzling is OK, but the game really gets annoying to me when the only way to sought something out is by looking it up on the internet. GW2 is my game, not seeking on the internet)

Well, anyway: the problem seems fixed now for three solid days in a row. Not sure I like the post of Behellagh; I already know I don’t know much about computer software and I don’t need other players remind me that i am dumb… If you did not like my post, just ignore it…

Just hoping everything stays fixed like it is now

I am willing to share, but don’t know how to read the dxdiag logs and translate them into something you guys could use?? also, I do not know what Hijack This log is???

However, today is great, since loading time is down to less than a minute (10-20 seconds tops now!), so maybe the fixed they announced in my ticket is a fact?

I really understand you guys, However, when the game runs, all goes very smoothly: I can battle and slay all those veterans; I walk in crowds with 4-5 enemies and still come out victoriously. So, as fas as I know, everything works fine. UNTIL I SWITCH AREAS… then the loading part begins and it takes ages…

(well, the glorious part is that i can talk to you guys everyday… Waiting for the next area (waiting for caledon forest now to get my daily))

I already made a ticket (answer is wait for future update)
I already did the advisory report
I already re-installed DirectX
I will probably soon add a better graphix card (hoping that would fix the “future update” thing ????

Thing is: When playing the game, all is well; hardly never any lag; game play is great, but when I load another area, it takes 5-15 minutes to get there; Changing a character also. It in fact makes me do only the daily when i can get these in one area or with only one jump.

And all the specials (like clockwork) I just can not do, cause it would take me more than half an hour just changing areas…

hope the upgrade comes soon…

So the big waiting starts…

Is it only me? Every time I use a waypoint to change to another area (using a waypoint in the same area only takes 10-20 seconds) or when I enter a new story line, I have to wait several minutes before the openingspicture disappeares.

And even then, I sometimes only see my weapons, and it takes one or two minutes before I see my body (I CAN however use the minimap as my guide… that seems to work…)

The loading issue was not that severe. Half an hour loading screens was basically unheard of… this seems to be an issue on your part. You did know that the graphics options were reset in the maintenance, right? You may have yours set to settings that are significantly higher than your computer can handle.

Well, I certainly did not know the graphic options were reset (and my graphic card is momentarily very basic), so that is a useful hint. Although my game is running very smoothly, AFTER it is loaded, so the graphics have no trouble then… it is just the switching of locations that takes forever (kind of like flying it like WoW)

ANET fixed the loading time issues.
Thank YOU

Not true! I entered the game 1,5 hours ago and it took me HALF AN HOUR to get from the black citadel to the crown pavillion (only used the waypoint and the door to the pavillion) before I could walk (my charactre seemed to emerge after 20 minutes, but She ahd no body and only on the minimap I could see my walking progress..

Hey MasterYoda – It looks like we suggested deleting the local.dat file and following up with a repair. How did that work out for you?

Well, does it help??? And can I mdo that also? The game is unplayable for me at the moment, since loading costs more than five minutes on my machine…

I am also experiencing VERY slow loading times; it took me 10 minutes!!!! to get to the crown pavillion, and worse of all, when he does load the screen, For several minutes i cannot see my character and I can only move on the minimap, while my vierw is constantly going forth and back.

This happens all over the place, so not only in the crown pavillion, but several times on Lion’s Arc also

It really bothers me, as it takes away good gaming time, and I also never play when I have only 15 minutes to play, since playing would take to much loading time

Hmm, I feel kind of ripped-off…
I bought 2800 gems to buy myself the molten alliance mining pick, the axe and the sickle I found on the page “http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Store#Upgrades”. And then I discovered that only the axe is still available…
So, I bought the axe, but how can I get the other two?? Only after reading these and other pages and getting back to above gem store page; i discovered that there is a note saying “Historical items
These items are no longer sold in the store” in relative short lettertype…
How to get to the other two pieces or get my money back?

Missed the molten alliance pick.

BUG in POI south of broadhollow bluffs

All true! And yes, I still have fun playing the game. However, though i agree with you that it is just a game, i disagree that you should not be upset by it. It is just a game, but we are playing it with millions at the same time, so rules should be fair and the same for everyone. So adding POIs makes it harder for new people of people who play less often. Making changes in the balance also makes it harder or easier for new/slower people.

I like the game as it is, but that is the same reason why I also dislike changes. I am a very infrequent player and have my own goals in the game. And changing the POIs makes one of my goals harder.

I could see it as part of the game (ever changing goals ;-), but as with a boardgame, i still get frustrated when my plans do not work out. And yes, I lik to complain about this, and yes, I like to irritate myself with it. That’s how i cope with things…

Still happily married and having a decent job and a fantastic life…

Well, that at least explaines why they were reset! still, it would be nice if it was not only mentioned in the patch notes, but also on screen. Now I played a few days without noticing it and could well have abandoned the game because of it… Taking the fun out of a game does that to people…

And to add to that… If people think i am complaining… yes i am… I am trying to get my goals done and it just bothers me that the game has become more difficult (monsters are harder to beat), there is less money (I have lots of money problems and can not jump from waypoint to waypoint as i used to do)

And this hour costs me again game money and makes me wack back to MALKOR’s leap, where I started from (yes, i waypointed to Gendarran field for this poi, for nothing… juts because the designers like to put POIs on the map that are not accesible

still a bug, I say

OK, I just found a lot of thread telling that the poi will be activetd on july 1st, so it is apparantly just a hoax from the designers to kitten us off. Now I wasted another hour off my life on this game.

Luckily it is such a good game, otherwise ….

There is a new POI south of the broadhollow bluff waypoint (not to be mistaken for the Quaffan tunnel POI), but it seems bugged.
When you climb the near mountain, it it some points teleports you back to some spots. There also does not seem to be a tunnel or jumping puzzel nearby, so apparantly it is really bugged (or at least behaves bugged). I saw at least one other player try it over half an hour, so really bugged??

Could of course also be that we have to walk in Malkor’s leap, put a stone on a pedestal and then miracolously be teleported to that poi, but i believe that is more jumping puzzle stuff, where the designers like it when people look everything up on the internet…
But poi’s where saved from that way of thinking, so far… so I guess bugged is the word…

bugged…

Yes, that is exactly my problem. I haven’t change anything , since i am doing all kind of stuff for my other three low level characters, but the things I could do in May and the beginning of June are now too difficult for me. I can understand this for Malkor’s Leap (just scouting that area and dying all the time to be thrown back to far away waypoints), but that is also the case in Diessa plateau and even Plains of Ashford!

Totally ruins the game for me at the moment and I am very afraid that when I start with a new Necro, it will be too hard to learn

"Farming" events...

I don’t really wonder, I know. Its because some people judge a group by the behavior of a minority within that group.

Not really. It’s because farmers make the game worse for everyone else.

Even ignoring the economic impact farmers have, the fact is that farmers allow MMO developers to make mediocre content that said developers know will sell. That’s because farmers don’t need fun content, they are happy playing mediocre content as long as they get a shiny reward in the end.

For everyone else, who would actually like to have a good game… Well, those players are told to find something else to play, MMOs are for grinders only. Until the grinders go find the next MMO to grind, leaving behind an empty game devoured by locusts.

I think most farmers are quite okay. They’re doing what they enjoy.

I wonder if a Skinner rat actually enjoys the action of pressing its little lever.

I have a comment for you:
I am one of these guys that buy a game and play it as I see fit. That’s what I payed for and it is my right to play it anyway i like it. HOWEVER, since you play this game with other people, it is polite to help them or at least not bother them. So normally i do that; it is what goes around, comes around; I revive dead players (since I like them to do the same to me) and join fights . Still, when it does not fit me, I play my own game, that’s where i payed for and that is OK, too. So when I am in dire need of some farming stuff, I go for that and not for something else.
The only bad choice here is abusive language: that is never correct…

Let me first state that I am at best a very mediocre player. I am an old fart of 52, who decided for some strange reason to make 4 characters and learn them all the crafting skills, while exploring the GW2 world area by area. I succeeded becoming level 80 and if my huntsman reaches 400 I succeeded in my goal (all 8 crafts learned).

However, since learning all crafting skills requires a lot of money and a lot of travelling (to get all ingredients); I normally travel a lot through the waypoints; Since a few days however, I die very often on the “simpler” areas (level 1-15, 15-25) and it also give me so little money, that I can not travel through waypoint as uch as i used to do. My armor has not changed, and my skills could really not be worse,so …

It the game made more difficult? (especially on “lower” areas?); it really takes the fun out of my play when I die a lot whenever I meet an veteran.

Haha, Tala made me in a good mood again. thanx for that. Guess there is nothing to do than guesting my way through the hard parts or paying up to get an easier access to help when i need it.

And yes, I can probably learn how to play the game better, when I put my mind and money to it.

Still feels like I have to choose between my youngest daughter playing with her friends in England and my eldest daughter playing here in Holland with al her friends here. And they left me in Harwich when the boat left for Holland…

I missed the time slot (and yes, I was warned) and kind of expected it to be like the old GW, where you could just skip to another world to play with the friends there online.

Still think this decision is a mistake of ArenaNet and this will really loose them more players like me, who will not discuss it, but just leave. But at least I will try to make the best of it; whether by guesting of paying up. (don’t think the gold exchange will help me, since at level 44 I still have not one gold…)

Tala, You’re right about the math. It is not about the money, I bought all these games and have no problem with that. It is about principles: I did not buy WoW in the first years because I loathed the monthly fee. But when GW became too difficult for me as elderly man and GW2 would take several years, I bought it anyhow and quite enjoyed it.

And now GW2 is out after a long time and a rough start and I enjoyed it very much, until I reached a level on which I can no longer compete without help, without dying very much. The thing is that without help from friends or family, i get stuck on the main plot and several skill point tasks…

That takes away a lot of the fun of playing, which I have as i play with my eldest daughter (who has the 80 level character and plays better than I). So, I like GW2 a lot, and the graphics are awesome, but to spend extra(!) money on a game that I can not really master, is asking a lot

(WoW is for sissies, so I can play that anytime, on sissie-level ;-)

Here is my problem:

With my GW2 character, I changed worlds a few weeks ago, to play with my youngest daughter and her friends (She lives in England) on her world (Seafarer’s rest). Today, I tried to get back to the world of my other daughter and my friends (here in Holland), who play on another world (Gendara), but I could not get back, since it costs 1800 something, which i don’t have. So now I am stuck on Seafarer’s rest. But the story-line is much too hard for me, and I also die a lot on my own (apparantly, the game is too difficult for an old fart like me), so I want to get back to Gandara, because all my other friends are there and without them, I cannot play anymore.

I asked my Guild crew (on the other world!) and apparantly i have to buy gems now… Since I play not very often, I am not likely to invest more money, so I guess this is it…

After years of playing GW and a bit disappointed about GW2, I finally have to quit playing GW2 since I can not do it alone anymore… I am too old… Back to Wow, probably…
