three suggestions, pick one.
A. -reduce the cooldown and duration to 60 sec or less. allowing an unload, reposition, repeat gameplay.
B. -replace a skill with an aoe knockback skill that centers on the mortar allowing some deffense.
C. -replace a skill with a “reverse loaded shell” it would work similar to rifle 5 allowing the player to move locations. (as a bonus it could have a countdown that would give other players a time window to “grab on” for the ride" Functioning similarly to mesmer’s portal but only as a one way trip)
Doesn’t appear to have any change. I tested quickly in the mists last night
Weird…. I run mostly with med kit so I haven’t experienced this bug yet, though I am planning on switching to turret once I find a build I like it with.
You may have used the turret then walked out of range of it so when you use the skill nothing happens within your field of vision but the over charge goes on cooldown at the turret’s location. I’ve done this a few times.
Actually didn’t they change the turret trait that improves the damage and range on turrets to also work on mortar?
I remember testing it and I discovered the traited mortar actually has further range than traited nades due to the aoe circle being larger thus increasing the range by the difference in radius.
Not that I ever play with it traited and only in specific situations.

October 2013…
4 runes of air with med kit= problem solved
(I run+ 100% condition build using 2 runes of mad king so it works, oh and 20 points in alchemy for backpack regenerator which also boosts boon duration)
The tool belt skill should be a exact copy of the utility skill….. Then I would take this skill again. Imagine what could be done with two mines…mua hahahaha!
It used to be my main skill until they dropped the blast finisher from the tool belt. It was op but no blast on the tool belt is up.
Name: Dealg
Main Character: Dealg (66 sylvari engineer, monoholic; opposite of altaholic)
Current Server: Ehmry Bay
Interested Activities: exploration, unlocking & testing skills (nerd alert), jumping puzzles, occasional wvwvw/pvp. I like to play control/support builds.
Active: I’m on mainly evenings after 6:00 pst and play mostly solo or occasionally with my wife ( when she feels like playing)
Additional Comments: I tend not to say too much mostly because I am slow at typing while playing and currently don’t have a good mic/headphone setup atm. I do however like to participate in technical questions and do a fair amount of research particularly with skill mechanics. so yeah i’m quite the geek but i make a great silent sidekick type in most parties.
Are you willing to participate in Operation: UNION’S project? Yes, yes I am.
“ToolBelt: 0-frame regeneration on a decently low cooldown”
0-frame means it’s always usable even when knocked down, stunned etc. Or at least I have found it usable even when all my other skills aren’t.
The elixir gun will always have a place on my toolbelt. With the trait Kit Refinement, ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kit_Refinement ) just switching to the kit frees me from conditions which in itself is worthwhile. I have been thinking of specing into it more but i am too attached to using the increases to bombs and nades for aoe pve sweetness.
However,
if you use one of the sigils that has an"On kill stacking effects" (see wiki for details: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil ) all you have to do is use your main weapon for the kill and the buff will be applied to all you kits.
I currently run rifle / elixir gun / bombs / grenades, for mostly pve and the extra damage i get from Sigil of Bloodlust is definitely worthwhile. I just run around and kill 25 things then return to my normal swapping.
