AMD CPU = low FPS

U see, the AMD cpu’s are all underperforming by far compared to the higher-end intel cpu’s. I my zelf have a AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.8 ghz (overclocked) and a AMD radeon HD 6870 1GB ghz edition and im still running 28 fps populated cities, 40 fps on the pve areas and 20 fps wvw. so your fps is kinda spot on. srry to say but I think u might need a cpu upgrade. (just as I do )

how can i improve my fps ? help mates ;)

Im sorry to say but ur rig it’s outdated, you barley match the minimum requirements for the game. What u need is a quadcore for sure I would suggest checking pricewatch websites, cos if ur upgrading ur cpu u need to upgrade ur mobo too, for just 300-400 euros u got ur zelf a proper mobo + best I7 (3de generation) but thats just what I would buy…

When did I say the SOLUTION wasn’t complicated? I believe I said the issue isn’t complicated.

It’s ok, send them your worthless dx reports. They’ll just say its your system.

90% of the time it is peoples low end 6yr old hardware. Ashley just trying to help. Ashley can’t make slow/crap hardware suddenly go faster…

well my rig ain’t slow crap and im having fps problems.

You need to read “Amd processors & Gw2” thread. Your rig ain’t exactly high end & your fps are spot on for your hardware.

3dmark of my phenom is almost the same as I5 2500k (5200 vs 5300)

AND it isn’t the bulldozer, AND mine is overclocked to 3.5 ghz

EDIT: whats a good 1155 socked mobo? (yes I am going to upgrade to intel)

Hi peer – You’re most welcome. You do have the latest drivers installed, but I think it would be best to install Service Pack 1 and then do a clean installation of the latest AMD drivers. This is due to the fact that the drivers were installed before the critical Windows updates were present.

EDIT : I should also mention that I would only recommend updating the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard.

I installed windows service pack 1, COMPLETLY whiped the chipset and gpu drivers. then rebooted and then installed the fresh drivers.
and still no luck, 20~35 fps all around

Improve performance Phenom x6 1090T and ati 6870?

If you’ve read it then you already know it’s your rig.

I don’t believe your mate pulls 60fps EVERYWHERE with that rig. It’s not possible, sorry. I know this because I’ve also got a P2 Quad 965@4Ghz rig with a better gpu than that & my FPS are WELL under 60fps EVERYWHERE.

So what ur saying is that what I see on my friends screen is bullkitten? yea sure…

How can I improve performance. (don’t give me that “its ur rig” nonsense)

My rig:
Phenom II x6 1090T overclocked to 3.5 ghz
ATI Radeon hd 6870 1gb 915mhz
8 gig 1600 mhz ram
asrock xtreme 3 or 4 mobo

Getting around 20-30 fps everywhere…
My friends rig: (he has solid 60 fps everywhere except WvW
Phenom II x6 1090T stock speed
ATI Radeon hd 5770 1gb hawk
8 gig ram 1333mhz
mobo: unknown

I have a Corsair 650 Watt PSU in my desktop PC.

Then I’m sure that I do not have a PSU bottleneck, Pewwww what a relief.

Is my psu the bottleneck in my system?

If the game runs, then it’s not a PSU problem. Your first clue that you might have a PSU problem is when you load up a graphics intensive or CPU-intensive application and your computer crashes or shuts down because the PSU can’t provide enough power. Similar results to a power outage.

FPS issues are more likely to be cause by a CPU that cannot feed data to the GPU fast enough to keep the framerate up, a driver/system configuration hiccup, or some unknown “thing” forcing the GPU to run at a lower clockspeed. If you can, you might want to run a GPU utility or the Catalyst Control Center while GW2 is running and see what the GPU clock is currently running at. This can be problematic if you don’t have dual monitors, though, since switching applications can change the GPU clock.

One simple thing to check might be your streaming video settings. If your computer is set to use “Hardware Acceleration” when watching videos, that can force the GPU clock to run at something like 400 MHz instead of the normal clock speed.

It runner at 915mhz clock speed and full memory speed but the gpu usage whas 41% average (measured with gpu-z) Ty for your help

That’s not a good guess. If you read through the posts, you can find the same number of nVidia people having the problem as you find AMD people. I’m running an i7, 6GB Ram, and a Radeon HD 6870 and am not having any issues with keeping my framerate capped at 60 (with VSync on).

Since you have a laptop, there may be some power settings that might be causing your issues. Double check that your system is set for “High Performace” to keep the OS from throttling your CPU/GPU speeds to save power. You might also want to double-check your power profile to make sure that your laptop doesn’t think it’s running on batteries. (my old laptop had a habit of pretending to be on battery power even when it was plugged into its docking station. curiously, if it was undocked but plugged into the wall, it was fine.)

Do you know what PSU u have?
