How can we get drinks throughout the year?
Quite easily! If you do the Grawnk “quest”, you get a Wintersday tree in your home instance which you can harvest every day for a free present! You can also buy them on the trading post throughout the year, but the tree does give a slow, but stead supply of presents.
That’s great, so to get this achievement will only take 34 years
They could add chef recipes to make the booze so that they aren’t on a time limited supply. I had a recipe drop already for a winter recipe, I think it was a peppermint cake or something like that. Booze recipes would still encourage us to work hard but without sacrificing our families and real lives and jobs, we can get a good boost now while its on and later work on cooking up the rest of the brew.
Off the top of my head I can’t remember what the drinks are but we have ingredients such as mint, herbs, fruits, sugar, kegs, spices, yeast, so we should be able to brew booze.
First I would like to thank the OP for the literary effort and originality. I enjoyed reading that.
Second I sympathise. I have 4 characters at 8 (ele, engi, guard and ranger) which is not many since I’ve played since pre-launch betas, but I do play them in depth.
I loved ranger but now feel like every time I do group content with any of my characters,I would be more use to the group and more efficient on the guardian. I don’t necessarily enjoy the guardian more, but there is a very palpable and visible difference in performance and playability both in pvp, wvw and pve scenarios. I feel guilty when I am enjoying my engineer when I would be doing more for the group in ALL ASPECTS as guardian. Locking down, blocking, support, boons, cc, healing, and I barely even need to retrait her.
Guardians need a nerf or engis and rangers need a buff/rework. I don’t play others enough to comment.
I have bug reported this yesterday. Using the wiki I counted up what I should have against what I did have and came up 8 short.
There you go:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Achievement (Click on each that show a Mastery Point available, and the article will show you exactly what needs doing to achieve the pertinent Mastery Point[s].)
Good luck.
Thank you for this. I have counted up what I should have (57) and I only have 48, so I will also be bug reporting this. I am unsure where the discrepancy may be occurring.
Definitely a bug.
You can see a list in the Wiki of all available Core Tyria Mastery Points.
Please provide a direct link to this list as I have only been able to find articles about training masteries and about achievements and about achievement rewards.
Mastery points, like mastery ranks, are account bound because they are tied to achievements. As you showed us the screenshot of the UI, we can see that it shows 1/1 achieved so you already have that mastery point.
Otherwise they would be farmable in one area of the game (jumping puzzles?) By repetition on alts, and the point of “mastery” is mastering various aspects of the game, I guess.
I guess if you like fractals you can get a lot of points on fractal achievements and spend them in fractal line, to “master” fractals you can do some fractals. Makes sense.
Doesn’t really explain why you get points for collecting spoons though, which I would spend on legendary crafting. Two seem unrelated.
And don’t even get me started on the ascended skins grind. Just no.
Hi
Please change the colour of the mentor tag so that it is more visually distinct from red commander. They interfered with progress on triple trouble wurm as people were trying to follow red instead of apple.
Some people have eyesight problems and the game and community has so far been good at being inclusive up to a point. But every little helps.
suggestion light pink, white, or orange are colours not yet used and would remain visible against most map colour palettes. Light green would let it be a different type of apple. Golden delicious.
Here’s what I’d like to see:
When a player activates a HP challenge, have a dialog box pop up that asks for their preferred difficulty level: Normal/Veteran/Champ. Completing the challenge on Normal difficulty would award the hero points. Completing it on Veteran level would award hero points + vet level loot. Completing it on Champ level would award points + a champ bag.
There is already precedence for a system like this — there’s a heart quest in Gendarran (IIRC) where you can choose the levels of the beasts you fight in the gladiator pit. The same system could be used for hero point challenges.
If ANet implemented a mechanism like this, then everyone who loves a challenge can get one. And people who play solo can, too. Win/win.
I hung around the Champ mushroom boss in Auric last night, helping people complete the HP challenge, and it was a blast. It’s a fun fight, and a fun boss — with a group. But what happens in a few weeks or months when there’s no one around, and new players or alts need to complete that challenge? Because it awards HP’s, which are directly tied to character skill progression, there needs to be a way to complete it without help.
Great suggestion and great post.
Your achievements UI had red star icons next to categories with achievements that grant them, then the particular ones had the red mastery icon.
I would like to second this sentiment.
There are 3 tyrian mastery lines that require a total of 49 points to completely unlock. 19, 19, and 11. Anyone who says that it requires 20 something is misunderstanding the UI; the last rank displays total points to unlock last rank, not cumulative total for the mastery path.
There are 66 mastery points available to get by various means. Unfortunately the achievement UI no longer shows me what they are if already achieved, I can only count the ones remaining that I have not yet achieved.
Now that is out of the way.
I had 44 tyria mastery points as I had played this game lots and lots over the years. I diligently booster farmed the XP and part way through realised I would be short 5 to unlock the last rank (fractal singularity). Sure I don’t -need- it but wanted it.
I have a few easy points that I can still get, such as tequatl meta, a silver waste jump puzzle and a karka queen kill, but others require a pointless amount of repetition or grind: unlock every ascended armour skin, fractal weapon skin, cultural armor skin for example, just doesn’t suit my playstyle. It’s a gold sink or won’t get used. Others are available by doing living story meta achievements. Still repetition.
So even though I have a choice on how to get those last achievements for red stars, I am a little disappointed that the choice feels somewhat limiting. Without being able to see what was already rewarded, these last ones feel grindy.
Suggestion for fix: allow the achievement panel to retain red and green stars on already achieved mastery points so that we can review our accomplishments with aa more informed perspective.
*Suggestion 2*: award a red mastery point per set number of achievement points (1k per point?) Or pop them in achievement reward chests. This will allow players to gain them in a wider variety of ways. If they want to grind it entirely through entropy track and salvaging, what is the harm? It can be capped at 66 or let to tick over like old skill points did. This would allow future development of alternate tracks.
Kind regards.
I seem to be getting to the route of this problem. I have an Nvidia GTX 770M, driver version 352.86.
If I use the control panel to make Guild wars 2 launch via intel integrated graphics, it has no problems and runs fine except a bit less pretty.
The most interesting thing is that this issue is also affecting Guild wars 1. It CTDs after launch with nvidia but runs okay through intel.
I have been playing other games in the last few days via nvidia without any issue (GTA V, Far Cry 4, Dragon Age Inquisition etc), no crashing and no graphic glitches.
If anyone can offer some advice on how to get this gfx chip compatible with guild wars again I’d really appreciate that, I don’t want to strain the onboard. If its just a case of waiting for aNet and nvidia to get their cats together and sort it out between them then that would be good to know too.
thnx
Since the update this weekend I have been unable to launch the game. I can login via the launcher, and when clicking the PLAY button, the game opens fullscreen, hangs, and then crashes.
I have tried repairing the data file, would like to avoid an uninstall if possible but running out of ideas now.
MEDIUM ARMOUR
We don’t need any more trenchcoats, thanks. Rather, more “shapes” of armour would add the variety needed.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/2/2e/Ranger_Canthan_armor_f.jpg I especially like the little tufts of fur around the bracer.

TOWN CLOTHES
Here are some suggestions I would be happy to pay gems for as town clothes:

PLEASE CONSIDER
Tattoo packs, as monks sported in GW1.
Scarification, as necromancers sported.
Making town clothes and toys an account unlock, to be withdrawn from the H panel similar to achievement unlocks. My bank is getting full up with things and it might save switching items between characters.
PLEASE DO NOT

The less said about this the better.
So what do you think, would ANet benefit from recycling their old meshes from GW1? What are your favourite models from that game? Please give constructive feedback and let them know what you think is missing from your wardrobe. Also bear in mind that suggestions of items from other games are unlikely to be replicated due to infringement law.
Thank you for reading.
Good morning,
Due to the recent controversy over Flamekissed armour and reskins, I found myself considering what replacements might be better, and what sort of armour I would like to see in the game in general – whether through gem transactions, crafting, or alternate methods of acquisition (loot, karma etc).
As a long time GW1 player I feel that game is very aesthetically beautiful and we can draw upon it for inspiration. This is not unfounded as we already have some GW1 skins updated for resale in the gem store (krytan, primeval, profane). As such I have identified some of the skins in GW1 that I feel would most benefit to be updated and brought into GW2.
LIGHT ARMOUR
Currently we have a selection of jackets and skirts for males (why are the chest pieces cut in half at the waist rather than longcoats like medium wearers have?) in increasing levels of fanciness. For human and norn females, past the initial three sets, we have a selection of lingerie and flouncy skirts in increasing levels of skimpiness. There is ONE set of trousers for human female scholars at high level as a reward from AC. They are absolutely meh.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure most of us love to look at beautiful ladies with beautiful bellies and thighs. However. I believe some of us would also like the option head off to the Shiverpeaks in something more substantial than a bikini top. So I present to you:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/b/be/Monk_Norn_armor_f.jpg Happy winterveil, little elves!
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/d/dc/Monk_Norn_armor_m.jpg
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/2/20/Elementalist_Ancient_armor_f.jpg High collar and no thigh, very classy.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/a/a0/Elementalist_Ancient_armor_m.jpg
This coat is very visually distinct from the other light coats and still manages to look stylish without being too bulky.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/3/33/Monk_Deldrimor_armor_f.jpg
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/9/92/Monk_Deldrimor_armor_m.jpg
With a few particle additions this model might be a good choice to replace the Flamekissed Light set (currently human t3).
HEAVY ARMOUR
I personally find that the selection of male heavy armour currently available seems to have a lot of options but things for females tend to fall heavily into full-metal-cyborg or tin-can-streetwalker. I am also not particularly keen on gratuitous spikes and metal flourishes, they are bound to catch on something…
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Warrior_Luxon_armor_f.jpg I love beads.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Warrior_Luxon_armor_m.jpg
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Warrior_Silver_Eagle_armor_m.jpg More animal helmets please.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/0/01/Margrid_the_Sly_Ancient_armor.jpg
I understand Margrid is a ranger therefore would count as a medium, however I feel her aesethetic could work equally well for heavy wearers. She is an absolute style icon, just look at those scarves and beads!
Hi, main engineer here. I’ve racked up almost 2000 hours of playtime and 80% of them have been on my engineer, I just adore the versatility of the class and have come to terms with not being as powerful (as easily) as other classes, the challenge and slowly, after finishing the grind for 2 legendaries, I am reluctantly coming to terms with hobo sacks.
I just wanted to post to say that if I could flamethrower people with a lighter and aerosol, I’ll be uneequipping predator and getting that white trash weapon on for the pure joy of this imagery. Thanks.
I did not log on yesterday so this may be due to the recent patch.
I am stuck on the splash screen which is failing to connect.
Using the -repair function fails to make any difference. I have restarted my computer as well.

Hello!
I have a level 400 artificer character and was wondering about extended potions. These are the rare quality soulbound versions of powerful potions that use the exact same ingredients.
Example:
http://puu.sh/1pqGO
http://puu.sh/1pqH4
There is a bug which causes the yellow version to state a 2m duration but on testing it provided a 1 hour buff the same as the blue version.
My question is: What is the point of the yellow version? It seems worthless.
Difference: its soulbound, and vendors for less. The blue ones use the same ingredients and can be traded with friends/sold on tp.
Suggestion: Extend the extended! Make the buff on the rare version 2 hours or 3 hours. This may be intended but not functioning due to a bug.
Thank you in advance for your time reading and responding.
