[BUG] Hidden Thief = Blinding Powder

I put together a fun new build for this patch, but it somewhat relies on Hidden Thief, which currently works only half the time with this bug. I really hope this is fixed soon so that I can have fun playing my new build.

If this is in any way intentional, there needs to be a cooldown indication in the buff bar. Its plain annoying having Steal ready and waiting for the invisible cooldown when in the middle of an intense battle. But if this is intentional, that is a pretty wonky trait.

Option to disable sounds of minis

This really feels necessary at this point. I too find myself muting the game volume just because of minis constantly yelling stuff in combat (TURBO MODE ENGAGE) or even being too noisy in ambient areas (spooky ghost, etc). The sound in this game is great… its too bad that sounds like these get layered on top.

The main problem I constantly have with this game’s sound is that many noises repeat too frequently. These minis would be completely fine if they only made noises like once every 10 minutes. Its not just the minis. I have recently returned to this game, and in the Silverwastes, I sometimes hear an NPC say the same line three times in 30 seconds! It makes the lines sound silly.

edit: I didn’t realize “TURBO MODE ENGAGE” was being yelled from a backpiece.

[SUGGESTION]Non-combat tonics keep traits

I’d use tonics in World vs World. My character has a sort of theme and I’d love to transform into this tonic, which matches my minipet, for all of my out-of-combat time (while roaming). The reason that I can’t is that, even though the tonic has no combat skills, I can’t pick up my usual dodge traits while transformed (Swiftness and Might on dodge). For me, the fun factor isn’t worth a significant loss of movement and power.

I think it would be cool if all non-combat tonics allowed your character to keep their traits while transformed. Some already do. For example, if you use the Arid Devourer tonic, your traits don’t work, but when you use his ability to burrow underground, suddenly all of your traits work! The toys like Sonic Tunneling Tool also allow you to keep your traits.

Haha, that’s interesting. I assumed this might be the case because on my Altruistic Healing Guardian, when I see myself getting caught in a 10+ second lag spike while right under a boss, I often try to pop all of my boons, and even though I don’t see them go off, I come out of the spike still alive, which makes me assume that I actually was able to cast the boons during the spike even though I couldn’t see it (if I was unable to cast until the spike was over, I surely would be dead).

I have Verizon FIOS and live in New York. I just returned to GW2 this week after an 8 month break.

The lag in world events is at times unbearable, with unresponsiveness sometimes lasting 10+ seconds and occurring regularly. Of course at other times, it is perfectly fine. Doesn’t matter if during prime time or not – I even get lag to the point of disconnecting at 5 AM.

I have tried using port 80 and port 443 but these don’t seem to fix anything.

I have not noticed any lag in dungeons etc, just in world events.

edit: As others have said – I have zero lag in other games that require a steady connection. I also seem to do fine in GW2’s smaller group content (dungeons, etc).

Has happened to me a few times lately as well. Don’t know if the patch somehow messed it up, but it definitely needs fixing. Steal shouldn’t just randomly go on cooldown when you’re definitely in the 900 range. Why does it even the trigger the full cooldown, when it normally just sets the skill unusable for 4 seconds?

Yeah this happened to me a few times yesterday in WvW. Even on sentries, I will be really close to them, it will say “Out of Range”, it will trigger the FULL COOLDOWN, yet I miss the steal and get no stolen item.

Alright, well thanks for replying. I guess I’ll leave it at that and stop worrying about this. I did send a letter to Support showing what I realized with the Shadows option (how disabling it = 60 FPS everywhere with every other option maxed), because it seems a bit unusual to me, like maybe Shadows could potentially be optimized in the future. Maybe not, but figured it was worth mentioning.

I overclocked to 4.5 GHz. It might be slightly better but almost unnoticeable difference. My CPU/GPU utilization still won’t go past the mid-70%s. Other games are capable of pushing both to 100%, only GW2 can’t.

I realized there was a setting I’d missed – turning Shadows to None gives me 60FPS everywhere in the game, even zergs / pavilion / etc. I can max out EVERY other option, including Supersampling, and hold a constant 60 FPS even in the middle of crown pavilion zergs. But as soon as I turn Shadows to High, I dip down to 45 FPS.

I wonder if shadows in this game are somehow unoptimized. It seems a bit strange that one option has such a great affect.

Ah OK, so I was just wrong to assume that a component not hitting 100% rules it out from being the cause. I’m not used to having a decent system like this. I will try overclocking tomorrow and will post my results.

But that is true even though my CPU shows no core ever going above 75% in GW2? Shouldn’t at least one core be maxing out?

I will overclock soon if you say this makes a difference, I have the cooling set up for it, but was holding off since I didn’t think it was necessary yet.

But something on my end has to be causing this, right? The fact that Character Model Limit somewhat affects the FPS must mean something, but nothing is struggling with this game according to the hardware monitor.

I just bought a new system, and am confused about why my FPS is still dropping.

While running with a large zerg in EOTM, my FPS is able to drop to the 40s at times. I am monitoring my hardware usage with Open Hardware Monitor, and it shows no CPU core ever passing 75%, and my GPU never passes 78%. GPU memory at 50%.
I have 16GB RAM and am running the game on an SSD.
Nothing else on the system is maxing out.

I have found that the only setting that affects FPS at all is Character Model Limit.

My system is:
GTX 780
i7 4770k (not overclocked)
Windows 8

Thank you for any help you can provide.

This bug still exists. I just double clicked by game in the taskbar and it messed up my system, had to reboot.

I cause this to happen every so often because I accidentally hit RMB and then LMB on GW2.

I am on Win 7 64-bit.

Can you please clarify what this means exactly?

The current formula is:
69 + .035 * Healing Power

What is the new formula exactly?
69 + .047 * Healing Power ? (increased bonus .035 by 35%)
69 + .35 * Healing Power ? (increased bonus to 35%)
Or something else?

I’m just another person that doesn’t like the current bloodlust buff. I am a solo WvW roamer and I have already noticed these stats creating a significant advantage for those that have them. It isn’t fun for either side because it is simply unfair. I’m usually just hoping that all 3 servers own 1 stack of the buff so that we can finally have even fights.

Keep the stomps giving bonus points, but remove the stat buff!

I guess so too. But there must be a Huntsman out there that has the recipe by now, right? I have been asking like crazy in guild, in /map, and elsewhere, but I just can’t find a Huntsman that CAN confirm that they can craft Vision Crystal, while I already see multiple Weaponsmiths that have their Vision Crystal recipe.

The wiki says that Vision Crystal is only created by Weaponsmith. Is this true? I can’t see how it could be, since that would be completely unfair to other crafts, but I’d really like to know before I go ahead with leveling my crafting. Thanks.

Guest/Transfer options more distinct

The other day I almost accidentally transferred to another server. I was guesting like I always do, but I hit the transfer button by accident, and since the popup warning looks so similar for them both, I had my mouse ready to click the “transfer” accept button.

This freaked me out a bit at how it could have been an instant loss of $45 or so for clicking the wrong button. So I searched Google for reports of other people accidentally transferring, and I found that this is actually fairly common! There are plenty of posts on the forums with people asking if they could have the transfer revoked, and when there was a response, it was Gaile Gray basically saying that there is no chance – they would have to pay another $22 or so in order to fix their clicking mistake, on top of the $22 that they already had spent.

People play this game while very tired, people play this game while distracted, people play this game while drunk, etc. The two buttons should be more distinct. “Transfer” should perhaps pop up a RED dialog, making it clear that they are transferring, not guesting. As it currently is, the two buttons AND their popups look way too similar, and distracted people will continue to make this mistake.

I agree. The music itself is OK, but it is so disappointing hearing the same tracks in multiple entirely different zones. I’ve played free-to-play MMOs that had music that was specifically designed for each individual zone, which made the zones stand out in my memory much more. In GW2, you can have the same song playing between them. Oh well. Hopefully going forward we hear more unique music introduced with new unique zones.

As someone on T1 NA spending 90% of my game time in WvW, I can’t believe this question is even being asked. Our WvW is just a massive pile of zergs. I can only imagine how much more individual player skill must be involved in the fights in the lower tiers. I am so jealous of how they must have regular 5v5s to 10v10s. I’d have transferred already if there were free transfers, but whenever I check every NA server is the same population as mine.

I am sure JQ have many havoc teams. Why not join one?

I normally solo-roam WvW. I have done it for 500+ hours. It is my favorite part of GW2. I do not care about my server’s standing in WvW (I have zero server loyalty). All I want is to find good fights in the open world. To me, there is nothing more satisfying in GW2 than winning outnumbered fights in WvW while solo-roaming.

I do run with friends that enjoy small group roaming too. Only 2 to 4 of us, because above that gets too crowded for our liking. But what are we supposed to do when literally FIFTY enemies in a zerg come rushing toward us? Those of us built heavily into escapes can get away, but there’s no way our engineer or guardian are escaping. 50 people trying to snare them are going to kill them. Some days, there is 50-man-zerg after 50-man-zerg, seemingly covering the entire kitten map.

Friendly commanders are even more annoying than enemy zergs. There’s nothing more frustrating than fighting a 1v3, being in the middle of winning this fight that has been going on for 3 minutes, and then a friendly commander rolls up with 50 people and just runs over the enemies in 5 seconds.

This is why I am jealous of the lower tiers. I imagine there is a lot more room for groups of 4 or less, or solo-roamers like me. I imagine there are still 20-man zergs, but I doubt they are seemingly everywhere as T1 seems to have at times.

Could be a lot better done, instead of having to click the book and change all of your utilites, it could’ve just teached you new emotes to type in, like /dance1 /dance2 /dance 3 and such instead.

Yeah, its too bad that they’re in a book. I’d end up using them a lot more if it were as simple as typing variations of “/dance”. Since they’re in a book that you have to click, then choose the skill, and then unequip the book… I just won’t think to use them nearly as much.

This bug happens to me multiple times every time that I play WvW. Unfortunately I still haven’t pinpointed exactly what causes this.

When I’m using a lot of invisibility while in a fight, my character will often show as fully visible on my screen. However my character will actually be invisible to everyone else. The only way to tell this is by looking at the buff bar to see that I have invisibility. If I stack more invisibility on top, such as by using Shadow Refuge, I still will show as visible on my screen.

This is extremely confusing in intense battles and has lead to my death quite a few times. The main reason is that I will be low on health, will see that I am “visible”, and will be desperately trying to stealth when I am in fact already stealthed.

I assume there must have already been threads about this since this has been an issue since launch, but I don’t see any.

edit: This only happens while I am in fights. I haven’t seen a way to cause this while outside of fights. I guess it has something to do with my character being hit. And I am 100% sure that this isn’t me being “revealed” – I am clearly invisible while on my screen I show as visible.

Yeah this is really strange to me. I just returned to this game after taking a break for months and couldn’t believe that there are still no Valkyrie Ascended items for me to work toward.

edit: I just found this on GW2 Guru:
“It just takes time to build these items and there is a huge amount of stuff on our list of things to do. We aren’t done adding stat combos. We will continue to add them as we have time to do so. With this batch, we wanted to even out the spread of primary stats and we already had a lot of stats with Power or Condition Damage as primary (more than any other, in fact), but I’ll be sure to get Valkyrie and Carrion into the next batch.”

No reward for solo-capping supply camps

I only have started encountering this bug recently, possibly starting this week, but its possible that I just didn’t always notice it earlier.

I always roam WvW alone, solo-capping supply camps. Lately I have occasionally been getting no reward for doing this. Obviously I am doing everything that should qualify me for the reward, since I am alone. But I get no event popup, no karma/coin.

The biggest problem with this for me is the sounds repeating near areas that you will stay in for extended periods of time. For example, the crafting tables at Divinity’s Reach – you have to listen to endless “YEAAHH!!! YA-HA-HA!!!”, this was one of the only times that I’ve had to take my headphones off in the game. Another one is the trading post in Cursed Shore – this girl right next to the trading post repeats this conversation about someone being “covered in ooze and gore” like once a minute, so that is another place where I take my headphones off.

Personal PvP testing area

I’d really like if we had a personal area to test against Svanir, the Chieftain, the sparring NPCs, etc. The reason is that when I’m testing out builds, sometimes I will want to kill these guys lots of times each, trying to get the combos better / quicker. But often while I am doing this, someone will come over and clearly want to practice against them too, so instead of hogging it, I let them have their turn.

I wish there was an instanced area where we could test our sPvP builds against these guys.

Traits reset in the Mists

Same problem here. I use a very similar build as my PvP build in PvE, so almost all of my traits are reset whenever I leave the mists. I have played countless rounds with 0 traits, because I move between PvP and PvE constantly, and I keep forgetting about this bug.
