Not enough skills peroid.
30 skills should be the BARE minimum.
Yes the number of skills directly determines the difficulty or ease of play of any proffession, if you think otherwise your kidding yourself.
All proffessions are to easy.
Skill floors and caps for every proffessions are FAR to low.
Rank should be an indication of player skill, not days/hours played.
This PvP rank system was never an accurate indication of a players skill.
Its just a grind, your not required to do anything but participate to gain ranks.
Just because someones has been playing longer doesn’t mean he is better, especially in GW2 S/Tpvp.
You’d be astonished with the caliber of competitive gamers now days.
WoW’s Rbg and arena rank system is horrendously flawed but still miles ahead of GW2 ranks as a measure of a players skill level.
There are Players in WoW, who’ve been there since launch that still back peddle, keyboard turn and mouse click abilities…

Im sorry, but as a veteran WoW player and competitive PvP mage, there arnt many buttons you dont use in Competitive PvP, high end players use everything, From a Arcane missles (as frost or fire spec) to slow fall, really the only skills i didnt use as a mage in combat were summon portals…
Every ability had its place, saying that they dont use the majority of skills is utter nonesence.
And by the way, i have aussie latency to, It shouldn’t be a problem unless your up against the best of the best, there may be other problems with your latency.

I’ve played Mmo’s for a long time now, and have done well for myself.
I think that i have the credentials to disagree.
When i was first testing the waters of GW2 i kept searching for any Ele who i could learn from, wile i did find explanations, none of them id consider as good players, in my opinion they were all below average.
Even now i continue to look for exceptional Ele’s/Staff Eles on the net and have found none.
The things a 0/0/20/20/30 staff ele is capable of doing, really makes the other weapons seem like more of a tutorial.
I run this with arcane wave, with that and your standard staff skills and churning earth from evasive arcana, almost everything you do will be combo’s. constantly switching attunements ofc.
Its quite difficult, but once you’ve gotten the hang of it, Staff is not slow and clunky at all.
With that being said it brings so much to the table, saying its a bunker, support or Dps class doesn’t do it justice, it does everything and anything.
These skills were ment to keep people off capture points, wile keeping your team on them, how does a staff ele bring nothing to s/ tpvp?
I really do think that the Staff ele’s you are watching, playing with or against arnt very good.
At the very least, give the build a go if you havnt already and tell me what you think.
here is the spec:
/cast resurrect on thread.
Competitive PvP in WoW was and is incredibley complex, and the skill floor and cap is directly proportional to the number of abilities you’re REQUIRED to use.
What is more difficult?
Using 5 different abilities with 5 different effects?
Or only using 1 ability with same 5 effects?
The more work there is that needs to be done, the greater the chance for human error….
Hence, increased difficulty.
Don’t confuse the challenge of ‘PvP’, with the difficulty of class play, because every class from easy to not as easy, is required to learn the basics, and advance tactics of PvP.
With that said, every class needs to be more difficult, even elementalist.
I’d like every class including my favoured (ele), to have an increased skill cap and floor…

One button wonders have no place in PvP, let alone ‘competitive’ PvP.
Yet Sniper Rifles and Rocket Launchers exist in tournament level Fps games. Sorry, think more before you make broad overgeneralizing statements. We’ve already gotten past the threat of HB, let’s not backpedal.
This is not an Fps, and even FPS’s arnt what you say they are, you cant fire a 50cal from the hip let alone survive a bullet from one regardless of the bullet hitting your head or not.. and yet they do in competitive FPS’s…..
Your comparing First person shooters to MMO-Rpgs please leave the forum.

Stop asking for 1v1
The difference in skill floors/caps between some professions is astonishing.
No, profession mechanics are to simple.
Half of them are one button wonders, EVERY profession needs extraordinarily high skill floors and skill caps for an Mmo-Rpg to succeed as an E-sport.

Think of ele as an out-fighter and warrior would be a swagger(taking your boxing analogy to the level of smb who actually knows box). Yes, out-fighters have to work more, throw in more punches while evedaing the opponent better. A swagger pretty much stands there, soaks the hits and delivers a K.O when he gets the chance. Are out-fighters UP because they have to work harder? Before you answer, Muhammad Ali is an out-fighter.
Oh talk about summing it up. This guy is good. He is right the people who say ele has to use all there stuff to compete against a class such as warrior who can just use 1 skill. Clearly warrior is an easy class. A no brainer class. A class that probably is unfair at the moment due to being so easy to survive and deal massive damage. It’s not eles that need there auto attack to be more dmg output to equal a warriors skill less ability it’s warriors who need to become more challenging to play to obtain there high damage.
Challenge is fun. Skill less and button mashing blindfolded is boring and repetitive childs play. The people who play Warriors are not to blame it’s the people who choose how warrior should work.
It’s other proffesions that need to become more challenging to play to obtain there high damage.

Fixed.
These problems are still relevent now so… shhhhhh!!!!

Gw is a pvp game.
PvP balance should be the number 1 priority.
PvE has never been hurt by PvP balance, just the kittens of the qq’ers qq’ing.
If youre here for PvE youre playing the wrong game!!
If its online its PvP, nuff said.
