Help me choose my post-MF armour

I’m a very casual player, so the following choice might not make a massive difference to my play overall, but before I make this irreversible decision I thought I’d ask here in case there were some objectively best option.

I have a set of Crucible of Eternity armour I painstakingly put together, and I’ve been wearing on my Guardian for PvE content. Before the most recent update, it had MF (Traveler’s) stats. Now, I’m faced with the choice of converting it to one of the following stat sets:

Cleric’s
Berserker’s
Rampager’s
Carrion
Shaman’s
Dire

My problem is, that I already have a full set of exotic Berserker’s armour, so ideally I’d like to pick a different set so I retain my flexibility. I don’t understand why Knight’s is not an option.

So, make your case. Which would you pick for general purpose use? I don’t min/max and I don’t switch things around very often, so whatever set I pick will be the one I use most of the time. I am currently enjoying a 10/0/30/30/0 build, with Hammer and Staff.

Make it half the drop rate of FotM even

Won’t work. People will always choose the path of least resistance.

To say “people will always choose the path of least reisistance” is a generalisation. The goal is not to balance the scales, only to make focus slightly less biased. If perhaps 5% of people LFG in LA for Fractals level 10 for a 10% (or whatever) chance at a ring went and did other dungeons instead (be that via Story or Explorable Modes), for a 5% (again, or whatever) chance at a ring then that would represent an improvement.

After having recently attempted to finish the story modes of all the dungeons, and finding it difficult simply due to the lack of interest, I feel part of the problem is the popularity of FotM. I’m not sure it was a great idea to introduce a tier of equipment demonstratably better than anything else beside legendaries, and make it exclusive to a single dugeon. So, my suggestions for improving the dungeoning experience for people like me is:

1) Give tokens rewards for Story Mode!!! Seriously, why is this not done? It’s incredibly frustrating failing to get a PUG together for a Story Mode, despite plenty of people advertising interest in Explorable Mode. Maybe only offer tokens for the 2nd attempt onwards, and at a reduced rate or whatever, but there really should be an increased incentive in experienced players helping out those of us who are lagging behind with their dungeon completions.

2) Make it possible to acquire Ascended gear from all dungeons. Make it half the drop rate of FotM even, just give the masses of people clogging up the /map channels of Lion’s Arch somewhere else to go for a chance of their Ascended rings.

Do I need agony resist before Fractals 10?

Sorry, I tried to insert “attempting” into the title before “Fractals 10” but had to cut it due to the ridiculous character limit. I’m aware Agony doesn’t appear until level 10. Good to know I can carry on, for now. Perhaps a better question to ask is “at what level does it become necessary to have some Agony resistance?”

The Wiki says that I’ll first encounter the Agony condition at Fractal level 10. The explanation of the effect makes it sound pretty devastating, and gives me the impression that some Agony resistance is vital for surviving it. I’m thinking back to Spectral Agony in GW1 and how impossible it was to handle without infusion.

So, I’ve just finished level 9, and I’ve probably got about 350 relics so far, but no Agony resistance. Is that a problem? Do I need to be revisiting earlier levels to farm more relics to buy some ascended gear? Or is Agony not as crippling as it sounds and I’ll be able to press on for now?

P.S. A 45-character limit on thread titles? Come on!

I logged in for the final phase of the Lost Shores event, only to be faced with the same connectivity issues we had at the beginning; it was virtually impossible to play, and certainly not an enjoyable experience. After being killed by something invisible to my high-latency connection, I gave up and logged out, hoping that perhaps I’d get a chance to get involved later, when things had calmed down. It appears that I’ll have no such luck though.

I think that after the success of the Halloween event, our expectations were high. Lost Shores was highly anticipated because ArenaNet had demonstrated they knew how to present time-limited PvE events in a way which were fair and accessible to everyone. What was delivered, was a complete shambles in comparison. Servers unable to cope, bugs blocking progress even after patches were applied, and lacklustre rewards (unless you happened to be lucky enough to find a stable shard at the right time during a two-hour timeslot on one specific day, managed to maintain a connection throughout, and bothered to stay glued to the screen during what I hear was a pretty boring finale). I just hope that anyone playing the game for the first time due to the impeccably-timed free trial did not think the Lost Shores event was an accurate portrayal of how good things can be, because if that was my first impression, I’d have written the game off.

I’ll not ask for an opportunity to obtain the “mad loot” I missed out on, but I will ask that ArenaNet reconsider how they present these events to their players in the future.
