Well, if you’ve been to Orr, you’ll know that risen drakes and spiders can lay eggs that hatch into more minions, and if you’ve helped the Skritt in the personal story, you’ll know that destroyers can be produced in the same fashion. Factor in Glint and her eggs, and it seems like being produced by a “mother” doesn’t really prove anything about the nature of the Sylvari either way.

Race, Sex, Class: Male Norn Guardian, with the thick-waisted/“fat” physique.
Issue: Gladiator boots clip through the calf in the back when equipped with the karma Pitfighter leggings. The same issue occurs when previewing PvP skins in Heart of the Mists.

Gonna drop some image links into this thread just for the heck of it.

First my four max-sized norn, two male and two female, backed against the same wall in Lion’s Arch so you can see their differences in height and build. There’s a whole head’s worth of height difference there; kind of annoying if you’re trying to make a really big lady norn.

Second an image I sketched up a while ago of some new norn physiques (three per gender) that I think would help ease the weird over-done sexual dimorphism just a bit (that and more variety in the character creator is always a good thing). The smallest of the “new” female physiques is actually already in the game on a whole lot of town-clothes NPCs. I think they at least ought to knuckle down and fit the armor to it so we can give it to our characters already.

Third, I think it could help to change the female norns’ idle/walk/run animations just a bit so their stance is less delicate and contrapposto and more wide, sturdy, and weight-bearing. (As a bonus, it might help with some clipping issues too.)

I want to be as adorably plump as this NPC to my right, but I can’t. Apparently her physique wasn’t important enough to add to the character creator at launch, or to fit anything but town clothes to. It makes me sad, and also makes me not want to level my two norn ladies. Which makes me sad again.

I was lucky and got a fused skin claim ticket out of a chest. Went to Lion’s Arch all eager to preview what I could get with it…and then I accidentally double clicked on the focus skin while I was previewing. I do not want this at all and have absolutely no characters it even fits on despite my being an altoholic of ridiculous proportions. And I really would have liked that greatsword too, gosh darnit.

If I can’t get a refund, can you at least put in the usual “Are you sure you want to purchase this?” safety measure so it doesn’t happen to anyone else? Thanks.

All I can think of is this poor creature.

Pretty sure the plated behemoths are based off Estemmenosuchus, and when I tried to figure out what the siamoths were the closest I could get was a Pyrotherium without the trunk. The crested raptors look a lot like the basal tyrannosaur Guanlong, and the Tyrian “moas” look a lot more like Earth phorusrhacids (terror birds), although without the predatory behavior apparently.

I love the prehistoric beastie mobs and would be very happy to see more, basically.

Trahearne would be a much better character if he weren’t voiced by a text-to-speech program.

All I want is for that burlier body type that only NPCs can have currently to be available to player characters. I was l was watching Linnea run after that Jackalope today and thinking “Holy crap, she actually looks like a Norn.”

And don’t tell me “oh they can’t/won’t because the armor clips.” I’ve rolled a bunch of thick-bodied characters of other race/gender combinations and seen a whole lot of armor clipping, so I have a really hard time believing it’s only an issue when it comes to heftier humanoid ladies.

I’ve deleted my female Norn warrior twice now because I couldn’t deal with how ridiculously slender I was forced to make her…finally just rolled a Charr instead.
