What exactly is it about spending an extra 5 seconds in a single weapon set that is so horrible? Are you constantly using 2 through 5 on a weapon set then swapping back to the other and hitting 2 through 5 immediately and repeating that process? Or is it just about being locked out of a weapon set as little as possible? Or a little of both?

Because warrior weapon skills are spammable. By the time we spammed all of our skills on one weapon we can swap weapons and spam skills on the other. That amounts to far more damage since we’re allowed to use a skill as soon as it’s off cooldown and not be stuck on a weapon where all we have left is our mediocre auto attack damage.

There is also what I explained before. A 5 second weapon swap allows you to spam your burst which procs cleansing ire which means far more condition cleanse. We also have traits that proc on weapon swap so those traits become 100% more powerful. Not only that, but sigils also benefit from a faster weapon swap. We only need one endurance/doom/geomancy/intelligence sigil to receive the full benefit of them because we can swap to them as soon as they’re off cooldown. Hell, it even increases our mobility because we can swap to sword/warhorn or GS more readily when needed for a quick escape FH improves so many things that it becomes a mandatory pickup. It indirectly increases our damage, our sustain, and our mobility. The difference between 5 and 10 seconds if huge when you’re in desperate need of the weapon set you’re not currently using. FH even helps us stack might better, because we have multiple skills we need to use after placing our firefield, we can’t be stuck in LB for too long or the firefield will disappear before we can stack might properly. Sure, you can use the firefield right before you can swap weapons again, but since Combustive Shot (firefield) also deals a great deal of damage and it cleanses conditions because of CI, it’s a skill that needs to be spammed in order to have full effectiveness. Plus the more timesyou use it, the more might you can stack anyways.

The signet wont be nerfed until the next big class rebalance (if it’s nerfed at all) Deal with it. And perhaps try to play the game more than you whine on the forums.

How doesn’t defense count as survivability if HP does? Both serve the same purpose.

Also not all warrior builds has mobility. Hambow has none, and it’s still the second most common warrior build.

The class got nothing but buffs (even if they’re not the kind which may benefit your build) just be glad you didn’t get nerfed like most other classes.

Classes shouldn’t be balanced around whether they’re easy to play or hard to play. If a skilled warrior can’t do what a skilled elementalist can do then either the ele needs to be toned down, or the warrior needs to be brought up. Period.

And warrior is hardly the easiest class to play. Every single class is easy to play in pve, and Rangers in pvp are by far the most braindead class at low levels of play. Spam rapid fire at 1500 range. Win.

And almost every class has a brain dead build that requires no skill to play. It just so happens that warriors are so pigeonholed into what build to use that their most braindead specs are the ones in the current meta. Playing a zerker warrior in pvp, for instance..Is much, much tougher than probably any other class. Zerker theifs can spam evades, ports and blind spam. Guardians can spam aegis, invulnerabilities, blocks, and missile deflection. Mesmers can spam illusions a backwards port on a short cooldown, and plenty invis to go around. Ele’s have massive aoe attacks that can wreck an entire team on point if left unchecked and a lot of utility with their attunement skills. Rangers have massive range couple with huge single target ranged damage and a knockback on a short cooldown…which is quite frankly all they need in low levels of play. Necros have…lich form. And don’t even get me started with the amount of ridiculousness that Engineers have.

Meanwhile, a zerker warrior needs to stay in melee range to fight and dodge every burst or pop 4second endure pain…or die.

You make good points and I do not disagree with you. I am just frustrated by many personal experiences on my Necro where a warrior can literally retreat whenever he wants by GS 3 away from me, then GS 5 out of range. Both of these remove any roots or slows I may be tagging him with.

I do not expect the entire rebalancing of warrior GS or anything to be done really, but I am just tired of games where the tanky heavy armor class can outrun cloth and leather classes. It makes no sense at all to me.

Because he has traited to remove those. It isn’t free – the skills by themselves don’t do that.
Thieves can also stealth and escape, mesmers can blink, eles can do the same.

Necro is pretty decent at mobility but you can’t expect to be good at everything. A warrior that has a GS on cannot CC that much, so he’s trading that off for the mobility. Also if he’s running away you’ve won that fight. You’ve achieved what you wanted to achieve – if sPVP you’ve won the point, if WvW you’ve driven him off.

Victory =/= kill.

Sorry it took me a while to reply, but I had better things to do than to reply to someone who lost their credibility when they said Engineer’s turrets were tough to deal with. Anyways, here is a video I took of a PvP match where a naked Warrior (yes, NAKED Warrior), was still able to outlive my damage as a fully decked out thief. Apologies for how terrible the video quality is, and also don’t bother commenting about how I was just playing terrible. I had to scramble to get my phone to record it with, and then I had to play with one hand holding my phone up and on on my mouse, so I pretty much could only stand there. However the video does serve its purpose in that I am hitting the warrior multiple times for 2-4k, and not only is it BARELY doing a dent to his HP (don’t forget, he’s kittening NAKED), but he is actually able to regenerate most of the damage.

That’s the worst quality video I’ve ever seen.

And it really doesn’t say anything. How were you traited? What armor were you wearing? I’ll just ignore the fact you were facetanking a hammer warrior and he had you disabled most of the fight…Yeah, that’s not how you deal with a warriors hammer, btw. Or the fact that I can’t even see your HP in the video so I don’t even know what percentage of your health he dealt to you relative to how much of hsi health you took from him. He could have been full defensive for all I know, and be hitting you for barely any damage at all. Considering his auto attacks are only doing 550 damage to you on average, I’m going to assume that’s the case!
And lets not forget that this is Spvp where armor does’t even have stats so the only thing lost would be defense and the runes. But wait, Head, shoulder and hand armor can still be equipped because you can turn the graphics of those off while still having them equipped. So essentially he lacks the defense of three pieces or armor and three runes. That’s not anything close to a huge loss.

Lets get real here. In 20seconds you had him down below 50%health. He wasn’t outliving your damage, he would be dead in another 10-15 seconds. Considering how you cut it off in the middle of the fight I assume that’s exactly what happened. That video reaks of complete bullkitten.

You don’t need to complete Master of Baubles to get the title because it only requires 13 achievements to complete the meta and there are more than 13 achievements in the meta.

All it takes is one good power necro or shatter mesmer or medi guard to take down a shoutbow..That’s not to say a shoutbow can’t kill them too, but they do enough damage to solo a shoutbow if they’re half decent.

I honestly don’t see how 3v1 is possible unless they were severely outplayed or they were all wearing tank gear. The auto attacks of 3 DPS are enough to bring down a shoutbow rather quickly.

A shoutbow requires a much much larger burst to take down. An elementalist is a light armored class with less toughness, and the cele engi has less toughness as well as less healing than either of the two. A shoutbow has high toughness, good sustain and cleanse, and high hp. A shoutbow might be easier to “lockdown” than a elementalist because they dont have access to stab, unless they replace fear me, but still requires a tonne of damage to take out, not to mention “fear me” and sword 2 which make for excellent kiting.

Yes, in its most simplistic form, warrior has the better stats. Yet all of that means little when ele’s have extremely high protection uptime. Also quite a bit of stability uptime as well. A shoutbow needs to choose between stability or fear me. If they opt for fear me they’re going to be trashed against stun heavy comps. It’s also their only CC so their opponent need only save one stunbreak for it and it’s never an issue for them. They also have zero protection. I’m not sure what an ele’s healing potential is capable of but they have so much access to healing I would not be surprised if they’re in the same ballpark as shoutbow. They also have an instant cast escape skill that ensures they can always escape. Cantrips and their four attunements +high protection and stability uptime is what puts Cele ele above shoutbow.

I play against both on a daily basis and while shoutbow is a strong contender I still find cele ele better at holding a point. They have less counters and they’re better at escaping death. You must have never seen a good Ele.

On a final note, would like to point out that nothing on the Warrior is “high risk.” I mean, do Warriors even know what it’s like to have to decide it’s time to use a heal?

That doesn’t make something high risk. Guards only real heal counter is unblockable CC, thiefs withdraw heal has no counter, Ele’s main heal is just as passive as warriors…All they do is spam spells randomly and it serves its purpose.
…and so on.

If a zerker warrior messes up against another zerker, they’re toast. Mesmer on the other hand, has blinds, invulnerable, evades, invis, clone spam…Guards have a ton of sustain too from their multitude of aegis spam, blinds and blocks/invuls. A zerker warrior can take few more hits than other zerkers while against another zerker, but they lack any and all mechanics that help to evade damage entirely. They either win their fight, or they die trying. Most other classes can escape. Greatsword used to be a good escape tool for warrior, but they really nerfed the mobility of it with the most recent balance patch…

Endure pain gives warrior some leeway but pvp in its current form, conditions are enough to completely wreck a zerker warrior.
