Separate Armor Weight from Skins

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

This is about the models and the armor types. Since we have the fixed models in pvp and wvw it litterally doesnt matter anymore to have a “class silhouette”. So could we pls be allowed to trasmute heavy armor with light skins mediums with heavy and light with medium (and all the other compinations). Could we pls get armor skins that dont aply to those rules and go for a diff aproach?

Im beating a dead horse with this one but could future legendary armors (that we wont get idek why im keep hoping) be against this rule about the class silhouettes?

A hypothesis about Jennah [Spoilers]

in Living World

Posted by: CaptainVanguard.4925

CaptainVanguard.4925

Been a while since ive looked back at this but interesting to see the life still going so heres a few more musings:

Anise and Jennah, Ilya and Lys Revised:

There is still reasons to believe that these two could very well be the dual incarnates of Lyssa as there are alot of hints given throughout the game and novels, a few include:

Edge of Destiny

Jennah quite “literally” charms Logan on first sight, Logan, up until that point had been quite a hard ruffian who didnt really think outside a clear set of self-important preservational rules. He became buddies with caithe/rytlock after the trouble the three got into with Magnus.

But after seeing Jennah it was like a scene from baywatch, her hair waving in slow mo and her body literally glittering (at least thats the way the scene comes across in the novel) as he looks dumbstruck and the other two blink in confusion.

This later seems even more prominant considering the scale of powerful abilities she can wield. Jennah uses her power to create illusions of increadable feats that could not be achieved by a simple mortal, even a powerful mortal.

Jennah is clearly hiding “something” and given her ability to compell Logan to obey her, so easily at that, she has a “charming” nature, much like a certain goddess.

What about Anise?

Anise, in game has alot of refferences to this, from her constant use of calling you puppet or other demeaningly minion like terms to flirting with you outright and teasing you into doing her bidding all the time. Shes manipulative, direct, and forward, if Jennah represents one aspect, Anise represents the other.

Anise often seems very passionate about her beliefs, and Lyssa’s domains dont just include passion in the sense of lust, but also in the sense of eagerness, and ambition, two things Anise has in plentiful quantities.

She also makes an effort to literally keep logan (away) from Jennah in season 1 after a skirmish with the clockwork robots in the crown pavilion during a demo. She “personally” made it turn into Rytlock to make him more eager to destroy it, then berates him for being too close to the queen.

She also seems awefully fond of playing with Canach, who counterplays her by making a joke about her age, something that irks her alot. She takes this surpisingly personally for someone who seems so young and wild.

Finally, theres also the aspect of her facination for Kasmeer, this could very well be because Kasmeer is likely the true royal bloodline (as mentioned in a quote above). Apparently there is a necklace the priory currently owns (as of season 2) that reveals the true krytan heir to the throne, and I suspect Anise is grooming Kasmeer for the role she will eventually play.

But this conspiracy doesnt end there, Kasmeer is also connected to the gods…

Kasmeer also possesses something unusual, her ability to see through lies and deception, yet curiously, she says nothing of Anise and Jennah, primarily because we dont get chance to really speak to her about it.

Kasmeer is also part of a league of mesmers that have exceptional influence over Kryta, and given the messages from E, we can almost go as far as to assume these mesmers are actually influencial enough to have people like Anise in their ring.

So, who is Kasmeer, who is E? My theory, is this, E, is the grand master of the Mesmer circle and is actually the future bodyguard of the next queen (Kasmeer) and thus, will replace Anise as spymaster when the time comes, just as Jennah will be replaced by Kasmeer as queen.

Kasmeer, being connected to the ability to detect lies, may have a connection to Kormir, the goddess of truth, thus, the reign of Jennah and Anise, which ahs been filled with lies, will be replaed with a reign of golden truth by Kormirs chosen avatar and human representative on Tyria, the speaker for the gods.

Any more crazy theories?

Jennah’s fondness for the flower gave us some clues, but lets look at Lyssa’s very dogma too. Lyssa speaks of beuaty being two things, internal and external, not all beauty is about good looking things in Lyssa’s eyes, this is why maybe Jennah represents the plutonic and gentle and serene aspect of Lyssa while Anise represents the passionate, exciteable lusty and direct aspect.

Their divine silence could possibly be because of Balthazars betrayal, if Balthazar betrayed the other gods then it is possible he defeated them and in desperation they “dimmed my light” could be a representative of their final act, possibly to live as mortals in Tyria under cover for now until they can rise once more to the throne of their power.

Either way, crazy as it sounds, it does seem likely that at the very least, the two have a connection to Lyssa, and Kasmeer has one to Kormir, or Dwayna, or perhaps both given her emblemic attires.

Time will tell how right this theory is, but I have a feeling im at least partially right.

Bring back The Festival of the Four Winds!

in Living World

Festival of the Four Winds was good for two things.

  1. Sanctum Sprint – Currently available in the Activity rotation in Lion’s Arch.
  2. Traders – Shoveling tons of underpriced, vendor-trash goods for unique prizes.

Can we bring the second back?

Don’t get me wrong, that functionality was nice and I’m all for bringing it back. But I’m even more for bringing it back as part of a renewed Festival of the Four Winds because that map was gorgeous, had a lovely atmosphere with fun events and activities, and it did verticality right. I’m not sure how that latter part holds up now that we can glide, but that’s a different question.

So, I’d love to see the Labyrinthine Cliffs brought back as the location of a Four Winds style summer festival to bridge the large gap between SAB and Halloween.

It’s about perception. If you create a system that players perceive to be bad, many won’t use it and you won’t get a dime from them. With a few minor tweaks though, you could be making your players happier AND generating more revenue, for what would amount to a very, very minor change in coding.

You said it right there! It’s about perception. Without exception, no matter what they do, some will always perceive the BL chest system to be bad. Many will not buy them because of their perception. If they altered it the way you suggest, then many others would find it equally as bad.

Obviously Anet is doing fine with what they are doing with the BL chests now or it would be altered.

That’s an argument that says whatever is current doesn’t need improvements. It’s an argument against ever changing anything. What’s the point of the forums if not to suggest better ways to do things? Suggestions that ANet might not think about or to let ANet know that they may make more money with changes.

Edit: the fact that ANet has recently made several changes to the blc drops suggest that they are not happy with the money they’re getting from them and are trying to improve sales.

My argument doesn’t say that people should voice their opinions and suggestions. I think they should. I don’t think, however, that changes the fact that the BL chests are a gamble and you take your chances. They are designed to be just that. You can ask a casino to change the way their slot machines work and give a pay out every time you play, but that is both ridiculous and isn’t going to happen. They are designed a certain way for a certain purpose.

And no, the recent changes do not suggest Anet is happy or unhappy with the way the chests work. When they made the most recent changes it was not in favor of players. We used to get three guaranteed drops with one seasonal/festival drop. We would get four different items. Now we get three with a very rare chance at a fourth. That was not listening to players, That is actually giving out less. If Anet was unhappy with the way the chest works, it was in their favor, not ours.

All that said, I do believe that Anet listens. Items have been included that have been asked for like wardrobe unlocks. That is good and understandable. However…

I don’t believe that BL chests function as a random drop with mainly common/minimum use items are they way the chests are designed and will always continue to function that way whether we like it or not. Items may change, but the way the chests work are the way they were designed to work.

If I had to pick one it would be Priest. A mix melee or ranged caster that channels the powers of the human gods. You see priests and priestesses in game but it seems to be more of a title. While I think much of this is covered through the elementalist and thus doesnt need to be added to game at all…. each god channel gives various effects, balthazar with burning and critical attacks, melandru with roots and defenses, dwayna for healing and the elite being a transformation into a avatar of the god/goddess akin to dervish of gw1.

I just mentioned this thread to my wife, stating that I thought giving a bonus would be a bad idea, since people would marry simply for that feature. The following reproduction of the ensuing “conversation” is as accurate as I can make it:

Me: “…And that’s why I think it would be a bad idea.”
The Wife: “You would marry someone other than me??”
Me: “…What?”
The Wife: “Why would you marry someone else?
Me: “…I’m lost? I didn’t say I would?”
The Wife: “You just said you would marry someone in guildie wars for a bonus!”
Me: “Huh? No! i said I wouldn’t marry someone else!”
The Wife: “Oh! Then why did yo~”
Me: “Ehr mah gherd! I didn’t say that!”

As you can see fellas. You probably shouldn’t be too keen on this system :P It’s mere mention can have unintended consequences!

Summer festival?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Linken.6345

Okay, well, if we want a ‘new’ festival…what about something honoring Trahearne or the Pale Tree in the summer? You know, the big growing season, plant people? It could be like the Japanese thing where they chart blooming cherry trees in the spring? Only maybe the Pale Tree blooms once a year in summer or something? Sylvari would find that something to celebrate.

Mad King, Wintersday and New Year are all in Kryta, SAB is in Metrica. We could do sylvari, or norn (maybe norn have a midsummer festival around ‘the time of year when the sun doesn’t set AT ALL’, they’re probably far enough north for that) Or charr have a fireworks contest that involves fireworks AND blowing things up…

I mean just as off-the-top-of-my-head ideas. I’d honestly love to see old festivals that were held in the summer return, but since I didn’t start playing until they passed on, that’s more curiosity than nostalgia. I could totally love new festivals just as much.

They could add meatober fest as a real festival aswell.

Guaranted Wardrobe

I think it would be a good idea to have another way to get these items. I’d prefer something that doesn’t involve 2 layers of RNG, but it’d be better than nothing.

I never understood why some things were left out when Season 1 rewards were added to the laurel vendor. That would be a better solution IMO. (Although they could also be included in the guaranteed wardrobe unlock so people might get lucky and get them ‘free’.)

Of course the best solution would be to bring back Season 1 and the missing festival stuff like the Mad Memories scavenger hunt, but that’s unlikely to happen.

Summer festival?

Larathia.5284

Possibly an odd request, I know. But I’ve actually come to enjoy the festival seasons. The only problem is, there’s a huge festival drought during the summer!

It goes: Mad King -> Wintersday -> New Year -> SAB.

And then nothing between SAB and the next Mad King festival, which means nothing from May through October.

The wiki says there used to be festivals during the summer, but they’ve been discontinued? Could we bring them back, or come up with a new one? (Or two, really. Maybe one in June/July and one in August/September. By which I mean ‘late june/early july’ and ‘late august/early september.’ If just one, then late July or so?)

Not that I’m not loving the new content, because I really am, but I also enjoy working through festival achieves and activities. A drought from May to October seems a bit long?

Could we get a "Rebirth" option?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BrunoPuntzJones.5348

BrunoPuntzJones.5348

I started playing a couple years ago, enjoyed the game, then life took me away. Now I’m back playing and enjoying myself again and I have this problem where I have a few characters that are kind of mid-leveled, 20s-50s. I don’t want to delete them since birthday presents seem like a big deal, but I’m not really attached to them either.

I could buy makeover kits, but that doesn’t change race. So I was wondering if a “rebirth” option might not be a good idea? I know ArenaNet needs to sell gems, so it could be a gem-store item if necessary to keep demand for character slots and makeover kits and the like.

It could be a race change, or a race change and a level reset to 1, or both of those plus a name change – I don’t really know. I just know that I’d appreciate being able to fully re-tool my old characters into something I want to play without losing their birth dates and the birthday presents that go along with them. I hate the idea of deleting a two year old character.

Is this a dumb idea? Are race changes impossible, is this too similar to full makeover kits? Or would this be something that might be worth asking Anet to put in?

[Suggestion] Slimmer male Norn, please!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nikal.4921

Besides the male Norn head being too small, I agree about those over-sized feet. They look ridiculous. But perhaps the worst offender of their anatomy lies in the chestal region… To me, male Norns look like caricatures of elderly body builders. They remind me more of dwarves (squat bodies, arms and waists too big, etc.), really, than humans.

Female Norns look like goddesses to me. I dream of one day being able to create an equally god-like male Norn.

I have to admit I’ve stopped using this skill, preferring to just WP to the highest WP and fly down to wherever I want to go. The pre-cast/cast/firing delays (especially while flying), shooting in a random direction when it doesn’t like where I’m pointing and the limit of three charges killed it for me. If spiderman had these limitations he would have quit the superhero business.

At this point every WvWer except the newbies has full ascended gear in whatever role they picked, we just can’t change roles. Need a simple amulet change like PvP or similar system.

I’m not sure that the price for a 1 1/2-year old game will dictate what a brand new game (or new expansion) will cost.

The price for expansion 2 may, or may not, be the same as Heart of Thorns. Really, only time will tell.

As for getting the best deal, that would be those that logged in, but waited to purchase Heart of Thorns at a discount; they got all of Living World Season 3 at no additional cost.

Aren’t most of the choices still there? The only thing missing is the little icon on the Hero Panel. I imagine one could keep track of one’s choices and determine which icon would be showing, were said icons still there.

Good luck.

In some cases, the dialogue remains. In some cases, they removed some of the options; in others it’s still there. And if I recall correctly, the game still tracks personality; it just doesn’t display in the UI or have any impact on how NPCs behave towards you. (Again, not that it ever had much impact on that.)
