Can’t leave this one, sorry. 
This is a very unfair expectation. If you were working a full-time or even temporary full-time job, would you do it at home too, in your free time?
People act like working in game development isn’t like a regular job, but that is very much not true. We have process, we have rules, we have many of the things one would expect to see in any software development company.
When we play the game, we have rules too. Every time I get in game, I get PMs from players talking about how something is broken, or trying to coordinate events with me. Every time I get in game, I should be prepared to work. Being in-game for us is not the same as being in-game for you.
I know it’s hard to empathize over the internet, but try to imagine the millions of jobs that don’t require people to do that, and then imagine that we do it anyway because we’re so passionate about this game.
Please do not belittle that.

Nice initiative Allie, I think its good that you open yourself up so that the community might better know their representative.
A couple of questions from me:
- A lot of players do not understand your role in the community correctly. Could you explain your role as a community manager to these people so they might get a better understanding of how to communicate with you?
- A follow up to the previous question: As community manager could you explain how much/little direct influence you have on the balance in the game?
- Do you as a community manager directly involve high profile forum threads (decap engie, thief p/w, etc.) in your meetings with the balance team? If so could you give us an example?

to make it short. Decap engi is not really nerfable with trait nerfs. Because then you also hurt the survivability of all other engibuilds making decap engi the only viable specc. Plus there are so many traitcombos which would work for decap engi.
A simple change in map layout could fix this. Just make a wall like on waterfall on each close and farpoint for each map. VS decap engi almost every class can in the “corner” because he doesn’t deal dmg.
This wouldn’t hurt normal flame/bomb engis because vs them you can’t just stand in a corner. They could still decap
(btw legacy is unbalanced, wf is much easier to hold)
Your first mistake was using the leaderboards as a marker to judge anything. Just use your imagination, it’s probably more accurate.

Actually, I think it is safe to say that the best teams are on top of TeamQ the leaderboard.
Can’t say the same about SoloQ leaderboard since it is also a matter of luck.

Basically the Balance is Warrior signet nerf 8%,pindown, Duumfire, Mesmer, guard vigor nerfs.. Thats all what i expect nothing more what we have seen, this is not balance change these changes should be like hotfix and not let us wait 3 months.
SUMMARY POST
I’ve read through the first page and I’ve tried to collect the common points among the posts. The longer these posts get the more difficult it is for new readers to add something. If I missed yours, I’m sorry. I am just trying to reflect the general direction that the posts have been going on. For the most part the points will be listed in the order of how popular they seem. I hope a post of this form helps keep posters on topic.
Ladder System
Posts have been widely in favor of a ladder system, not an overall leader board. Details:
- Starcraft 2 Style Ladder. Specifically this means different tiers with their own ranks that you can move up and down within, as well as getting promoted or demoted to other tiers. Numbers vary from anywhere from 2-6 tiers.
- A season that is anywhere from 1-3 months long, then a ladder reset.
- Private rating, but public rank.
Team or Solo (or both) Evaluation
Just behind a SC2 style ladder, the most discussed issue: Are teams evaluated as a unit or are the individual players? Can we have ladders for both, a la the current team and yoloq system? Here are some good points people have made:
- It can be difficult to get the same group of 5 together, so if a team has its own ladder ranking, it will be difficult to actually play matches.
- If you assume each player is on only one or two teams, this reduces the number of teams in the pool at any given time, making queue times longer.
- If you only determine ladder rank on the individual unit, there is too much variability since you may get unlucky with the team you are on.
- It would unfair to allow premade teams count for individual laddering, this isn’t desirable.
- Having more ladders fragments the player base, making queues longer.
On a related note, there is a general consensus that for a solo ladder, a player has a different ranking for each character (or class).
Possible solutions for the above issues that people have put forth:
- Relax the notion of a team. Instead of the same 5 players on a team, have a fixed pool of a players that the team members can be chosen from, or allow up to 2 “adds” to a core 3 person team.
- New gamemodes that are balanced around smaller teams. (I’ll talk about some specific suggestions for this below.)
Rewards
- Access to unique rewards based on rank purchased with some currency.
- Rewards given for rank at the end of the season.
- Rewards given for participation, like the monthlies, dailies, and meta-achievements.
- Fewer randomized rewards.
Types of rewards:
- Armor and Weapon skins not attainable by other means
- Skins that are usable in PvP, WvW, and PvE
- Gold, Karma
- Laurels
- Finishers
- Wall of Champions
- Gems
- Custom Emotes
- Nameplate badges for the highest ranked players
Different Gamemodes
Almost all new gamemodes that people have suggested have team size smaller that 5. The descriptions are somewhat involved, so I opted to links for those posts instead.
Note: Personally, I love the idea that PvP in GW2 might move in a “fighting game” direction. PvP is centered around awesome combos and counters already!
Miscellaneous
I couldn’t figure out exactly where to put these.
- Spectator mode and PR events for high level games.
- Easier access to a broadcast mode.

I’ve played the map hundreds of times but I don’t think I’ve even seen one person carry it transformed. Not even close the problem either way.
Hey guys, just wanted to pop in here and state that come the release of the feature build players will no longer be able to carry the orb while in a transform. For those unfamiliar with what a transform is in PvP, it is a skill that changes your skill bar. I.E Rampage, Elixir U, Tornado, etc. We’ve also trimmed off some hard edges on the map to make travel more smooth and functional.
Thanks and I hope this makes the map more enjoyable for those whom have issues with it.
I don’t think this was ever the issue…
They should remove the orb and replace it WITH a transform, not the other way around.
Picking up the orb would turn you into a spirit, with spirit skills, that way no matter who picks up the objective, they are all transformed into the exact same thing.
A-ll guys complain about the meta
L-eavers happen almost every solo q match
L-osing to a guy that is not as good as you but plays a better build is not fun
I- think it would all turn out well if anet would work together with the players
S-pamming autoattack and killing others is not fun either
V-eteran players are not being rewarded like skyhammer farmers
A-nything that changes this meta would be nice
I- would be so happy if we could get the promised ranger and warrior changes asap
N-o one enjoys the game as it is atm in the top 100 area

We played with your system for month, we worked hard to get a good placement, and all for nothing?
Yes, the system had problems, but still nothing we, the players, could change. We just played, we dealt with teammates going afk, insulting us, leading to a 4 vs 5 and a loose. What did we do? We just played more, worked more, carried our teams to the top… and all for nothing, while the toxic players who insulted us are still playing.
Our accomplishment gets wiped without any sign of the remaining effort, while the farmed rank on skyhammer stays untouched. It seems ArenaNet just does not care whats going on the game.
You can argue, that a lot of inactive players are on the top of the leaderboard, but have they done anything you can blame them for? With the leaderboard they played to get to the top, and they accomplished that. A month ago ArenaNet could have just made the announcement “play at least 100 games”, and they would have played their 100 games, but ArenaNet stayed calmed, deceiving us with their unnecessary CDI-topics, fooled us with statements like “I’ll take a look at it on Monday” while nothing happens. Yes! I can see the carrot in the stick you are waving in front of us, the future will bring everything we are waiting for, but in the meantime we are left out.
While you can argue a lot, what is wrong with the SoloQ, but what about the TeamQ? Even harder to withstand the top teams, and that was now also for nothing.
Why even take a look at the leaderboard after the reset? We get a much more accurate view on the best teams from the weekly esl tournaments (at least on eu), and the probably the leaderboard will get reset again once they implement their “plans”. And their will be the same discussion about how accurate the leaderboard is, just take a look at the new thread, where they claim it depends just on how often you get a 4vs5.
We don’t want a lot, we don’t want a legendary, we don’t want a special skin, or a special stomp animation, we just want to get the same treatment, as the qualification points farmer.
