Similarities between GW2 and GW1

I hope you realize that Eye of the North was supposed to be the prequel to GW2. Primordus was introduced to show what you would be doing in GW2 = hunting the Elder Dragons. That was not stealing, it was paving the way as an introduction to GW2. Get your facts straight.

I guess you missed the point of repeating the same story over and over again.
They can have 2567 Dragons in GW2 announced by GW1.
I really don’t care.
The sad thing is the story repeating.

Obviously not a fan of fantasy or science fiction or you’d know this. There are only so many plots. That’s it.

So we knew there were six elder dragons. We knew they were awakening. Logic would then dictate that we have to kill six elder dragons.

It’s not much different from most fantasy and science fiction. The difference is we also had some some plots here that are interesting, including the much maligned Scarlet. The Zephyrites and their connection to Glint. There’s been a lot of side stuff that’s pretty interesting, down to the ley lines.

Way to trivialize a plot and try to say that it’s copied from Guild Wars 1. In fact, the only dragons I remember facing in Guild Wars 1 were Glint, who was an allie, and the Kunnevang who was an ally.

Almost every plot can be boiled down to one of seven things (some people claim 14). There are more than 14 games, hence plots have to get reused.

Mm. I had thought of the prices of especially lower level crafted gears given the demand for those materials… and foefire weapon skins achieve… man who would get that? I had thought it would be a collector reward for making out the crafted back pieces coming. But maybe you’re right.

I also expect to see rises in destroyer weapons and corrupted. Im sure Both will have some sort of achievement.

I’m planning on starting a new character when the patch hits and do map completion on it to completely explore the heart vendors and soulbound trophy drops I remember seeing my first go around. Super excited. They wanted retention and I think they may have gotten it… at least with me.

I am liking this new reveal. Seems that this will be of interest to the Vet Players too.
And you all laughed at me for having all 450 of my Bank and Personal Guild Bank Full of worthless crap.

I anticipate a new title: Grand Master Hoarder

I lovingly call Mawdrey a baby honorary sylvari (aka Scarlet’s baby) :P

Great story – and crafting Mawdrey/Mawdrey II seems like a good prototype for precursor scavenger hunt, so go ahead and follow this format, Anet

Both in terms of requiring components from fresh content to tie in with current story, but also leading you on a merry go-round the old block to revisit all those old places to complete events, mini dungeons, etc.

It really works. Of course, the time gated crafting is annoying me because I have to portion this out across 21 days just because Anet say so, not because of the exhaustive task. But still, it “teaches” patience and works so that die-hards don’t farm themselves 24/7 to death and complete their precursor in 3 days.

I agree with you. I prefer building weapons, armor, & items too.

The time gated stuff doesn’t bother me. It just requires that I log in for a few minutes a day to make stuff.

The Shatterer.

Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?

For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.

We tried to put in a few changes here and there when we added the new world boss timers. Reactions varied.

Thanks folks. I’ll see if I can’t sit around and monitor the LFG tool for some level 1 fractals.

Did my last fractal today and made my Mawdrey which I love. Mawdrey II is also very cute and very hungry. Sure hope it doesn’t do a Tamagochi on me if I fail to feed it, lol.

I do have to say this was actually enjoyable to do with the variety of things you had to collect or make to do this. While fractals may not be my favorite thing to do, I learned a lot with the ones I did, got some nice loot and did not feel that that part of it was much of a grind. Foxfire now that was a grind, lol.

Fractals you have to take with a grain of salt. Everyone I met was pretty nice, did see some who quit, I assume in frustration, but overall it was not a bad experience. In several we had to work hard to complete the fractals but everyone stuck it out and we eventually did. I think that made me feel that it was more of an achievement than if it had been easy.

Overall very interesting experience and definitely worth it. For me this one was a winner.

I just finished the one before this, and was thinking about pursuing this one too. I kinda like the epic and long crafting and trekking around the world to get the pieces to do these things. I can’t help but think some of this isn’t a dry run for at least a component of how legendary crafting will work.

At any rate, I’m a bit intimidated by the fractal part, and want to make sure I don’t do something wrong there. Do I just need to go on 5 different days? Is there anything special I need to do to collect the item I need, or is it part of a reward chest (lower right) for completing the instance? Or is it like a big ground chest, and I don’t want to miss it? Do I need to talk to anyone at the beginning or end? Or do I really just have to solicit a group or wait until a level 1 pops up and join?

Sure hope I can get this done, the pet sounds fun.

My Apologies

I feel really sorry for what I said in the last few posts. It really looked like a ragequit (see “So Disappointed”, about that new Feature Pack), but the fact is that I still love this game (in fact I said this in one of my posts, so it’s not like I’m changing my mind)

And I really love how you (devs, CMs,…) explained everything you could. That silence is what killed me, but now I can understand it perfectly well. And also, the last 2 features in the blog were awesome (Also the writing/detail on it) which fully compensates the 1st week’s.

So here, take my apologies and happy 2nd birthday!

[If anyone wants to apologize as well, feel free in here!]

September Fix Patch

Most of the items you listed off that aren’t in this update are because they are content. This is not a content update, this is a feature pack. Content updates usually, but not exclusively, take the forum of living world updates or festivals.

And the items you listed in feature pack aren’t feature…. are fix or improvement to old feature and you know that… but hey gemstore is always open…
In a far far island there are kurt cobain , jimy endrix , scavenger precursor , ladder&league and new type of pvp , guild housing ecc….

You mean a commander tag that’s account bound and in colors isn’t a feature? Tricks aren’t a feature? A new specialization in WvW isn’t a feature. Because those look like features to me.

Of course Tournaments are also features.

What they aren’t really is content. That’s good since this is a feature patch.

So many whiners

»Everyone has the right to voice opinion«, so here is mine. So many people complain about the game, and now I’ll complain about you!

It’s making me puke to read all the whining on this forum! I swear if I’d be the director I’d just close down the forums and say »Screw you guys, you’re on your own!«

“I want this, I want that, I wanna kill fluffy white bunnies to get 100% precursor drop!”

  • I don’t like this backpeace/weapon/armor – um…. don’t get it than?
  • Why do I have to do fractals for this ascended peace “weee weee” – Well where else would you actually “need” to use ascended peace’s than in…I dunno… fractals? :L
  • We want expansions!!! – »I want better topics on forums!« Anet is working its kitten off to give us as much as possible, with LS. True, its not as massive, but it’s there and its free. Your constant nagging for expansion won’t speed things up, so give it a rest. When they’ll decide to, and be ready for expansion, we’ll get it.
  • I don’t like LS! – cry me and many others that enjoy it, a huge river. A lot of work went into it, and even more will in the future, show some respect! You’re getting free stuff if you want it or not.
  • We want SAB!!! – while the community clearly made the creator feel bad last time around! So blame other players for not having SAB back any time soon, not devs!
  • I want mounts! – what for? So you can travel the distance between 2 WPs 5% faster? As if its not enough we have WPs every 50m and most classes have a way of having constant swiftness. What, you wanna be fancy and look down on mobs? Wanna be immune to combat as well while at it to make your ore farm even easier? It’s not practical, I see no need for it, and I don’t see how such a thing could bring new and old players to come play gw2 :L
  • Dry top sucks! – don’t play it?
  • I don’t like combat – make it like…. . …TERA! – go play tera than?
  • I wanna get whatever item whatever way I want it! – right right…so.. because you’re not a PVP guy/gal, you wanna get Balthazars backpack by killing 1000 frogs in the swamp? Or since you don’t wanna PVP nor do dungeons, you wanna get CoF from flame legion mobs with 50% drop rate? You can get a lot more stuff in this game by playing different content, a lot more than other MMOs offer! I support that some items should be available only to those who do certain things.
  • I don’t wanna work for X or Y – then continue to be a lazy kitten without X or Y cause you clearly don’t deserve it.
  • We want new dungeons!!! – while at the same time – “we hate dungeons and grouping up for content and grind them over and over!!!((” And when the last time they did something about dungeons, everyone just complained again.
  • and so on and so forth

Everyone would have everything – just make a “casual” content merchant where you can buy every single item in the game for max 50 gold, right? Lets all have everything very easy, and die of boredom 2 weeks later, with no more goals to achieve, and leave the game empty till next LS.

I hate RNG, like many others, but I don’t bother devs about it. If you don’t like gathering for mats, do something that you enjoy doing in the game and BUY it. Every part of content awards you with some kind of reward you can make money off.

To sum up – lets just change everything about what GW2 is!!! :LLL
One game will never have everything that everyone wants. So after so long, just deal with it. New things will be implemented when they are ready.
If you don’t like things in GW2 soooo much, just go back to WoW or w/e game you like better, and give this poor people a break.

This is by far the best MMO I’ve played, and I’ve tried tons. Anet, you’re doing a smashing job! Thank you!

And for all you who’ll be all smart about my ranting – there is a difference between improvement suggestions and str8 up whining.
