you know how we can transfer servers for a fee of 1,800 gems. well, what if we were able to change to another race for 2,000 or less gems once we reach level 80. its just a idea gosh! so dont throw rocks at me :)

why? well because gw2 is about fashion and maybe not everyone wants to start the same profession with a different race all over again just to change the appearance

And thieves are doing a kitten fine job doing exactly that. Most thieves run builds that are either stealth or evade heavy. You either run S/D and evade 80% of whatever your opponent is throwing at you, no matter what build he runs. Or you go along with P/D or D/P with massive access to stealth.

Mesmers survivabilty relies heavly on the cooldown of your utility skills, that usually being Decoy, which is on a 40sec CD (untraited), Blink which has a 30sec CD and finally Mass Invisibility that sits on 90 seconds. Once these are used up, you will have to facetank the damage that is thrown at you, unless you’re doing incerdibly well at kiting your enemy around when you’re using the staff.

Thieves can survive just fine, with what they have on their weapon-sets which dont have any cooldown. That means that waiting another 2 or 3 seconds already gives you another dodge or an option to stealth or shadowstep around. Combined with the crazy disengage you can bring, you’ve got more than enough to keep you alive.

So in conclusion: No, thieves don’t need the same healthpool mesmers share.

Please move the crafting stations off the borderlands maps. Move them to Obs Sanctum or remove them entirely, or have the stations become disabled when the map ques. It is ridiculous that qued maps can have 20 or more players crafting, taking up spots for people wanting to actually fight.

A lot of the mesmers skills produce no effect unless there is a target to activate them against:
GS #1 Spacial Surge,
Scepter #3 Confusing Images,
Sword #3 Illusionary Leap,
Arcane Thievery,
Mimic (new)
Mantra of Pain (Power Spike),
Mantra of Distraction (Power Lock),
Polymorph Moa,
ALL illusion producing skills,
And all down state skills.

It may be said that clone skills require a target because they need to be assigned to a target to exist. I say this is not true for the following reasons.
Staff #2 Phase Retreat, Decoy, Mirror Images, and Deceptive Evasion Trait are all useable without a target.
In the case of Deceptive Evasion, a clone is produced and assigned to the closest target. For Phase Retreat the Leap effect is still executed without the clone. Decoy acts as a stealth and a stun breaker without a target. Mirror Images acts as a stun breaker only.

The Skill Feedback produces a reflective bubble over your target and it might make sense that this skill does not work without a target. However this skill does produce a non targeted effect producing a Feedback bubble at the closest terrain that the center of the camera is pointing at. This effect is useful yet difficult to control.

There are many possibilities for how to handle these skills untargeted other than telling the caster that they can’t do that.

If Spatial Surge is used untargeted what if it produce a melee range cleave hit box ?
What if an untargeted Polymorph Moa turned the caster into the moa!?
What if Mantra of Pain and Mantra of Distraction produced its new AOE effect centered on the caster when there is no valid target?

Even more wild what if clone skills produced target less clones that just died after a few seconds such that skills like Mind Stab could be used as a fast AOE?
What if Illusionary Leap produced a targetless clone for a few seconds that way the Leap effect might be used for mobility or combo fields?

Phantasms could be spawned at a fixed distance in front of the caster to execute some static action: iWarden stays at a fixed spot and acts as a reflect shield, iBerserker Whirls forward and back to the caster, All other Phantasms act as turret like creatures for some short duration?

To the forum I submit, what would be a reasonable solution for untargeted skills?

Not defending POWER RANGERS but OP is definitely salty about them….Power Rangers are not all feeding points to the other team, obviously if he gets focused he’d die just like any class who cant blink/invis to safety. If you play it right, know your role, your strengths and your weaknesses you can win alot of non-premade pvp matches. Just because it isn’t in the TOP tiered pvp builds or rather cuz it isnt used by top players does not make it a bad build. I main an ENGINEER, but played ranger for pvp as well, and the player behind the class is what makes the build good or not, i’ve rekt thiefs and mesmers but also got rekt by others, obviously premade is premade…lets all focus the power ranger…if you team doesnt help you obviously you’d die too, played right and you’d get called OP, don’t and you get called a NEWB…..pick your poison.

Condi is Meta, so is celestial, but some people would rather play a zerk build, so unless you want to FORCE all rangers to play condi builds, they have every right to play LB Power.

But for WvW leave power rangers alone, rangers have been sheeeted on for 2 yrs, they finally get a slight buff to make them useable in wvw, and haters want them put down again. Because all you know is the typical Warrior,Guard,Ele,Necro blobs, it is about time Rangers get there shine and use in WvW, now we can move on in making ENGINEER,mesmers,thiefs much more important for WvW as well(obviously not roaming, since any class can roam)

From what I have been reading on these forums. The Thief has literally been nerf’d into the ground and unplayable in PvP.

You are right, the game is full of easy mode AoE and CC, Condi builds etc that deal way more damage than a skill shot like back stab. I think if you are wanting a melee play Warrior, if you want a stealth toon play Ranger. Thief is dead.

Wait, what? Ez mode? I wonder who has ez mode. If you want to find out who has it “easy” play my zerker staff ele full of AoE and CC and I’ll play your thief build. We will see who has it “easy” when I can reset all the fights I want, flee without possibly being caught and start any fight with a 50% head start on life points because I destroyed that much of your life pool before you even knew I was there…

That post is just ridiculous. I can understand some frustration after some nerfs but this is just shameful.

Thieves do not need a larger health pool, they hard counter mesmers, so it’s really a learn to play situation. When you play a glass cannon thief, you need to learn that accidentally walking into AoE’s is something you can’t let happen and to avoid it, not ask for compensation for players that are too lazy to avoid red circles or pay attention to animations. Its a risk reward situation, and if you can’t deal with it, then you picked the wrong class. Re-roll or re-spec.

The changes make it easier on the people who grind AP and I’m happy for them, I am but for the rest of us (or at least for me) it’s not an improvement, really. It’s kind of a schlep .. It’s the carrot and stick method (carrot = slightly better reward, stick = more effort & less freedom), “slightly” better mind, not nearly enough for me to go out of my way to do dailies, whereas before I’d do them just by playing the game. Its safe to say I’m no fan of the new daily requirements .

Being forced into the position of killing an entire village was just… distasteful. Even though it was a ‘memory’ and we were supposedly acting as another person, having to physically participate in that fight left everyone on my team feeling very sick.

Maybe that’s what you were going for, I dunno, but it marred the storytelling for us. It is one thing for a player to make choices that are less than ‘heroic’, it is another for a game to force a player to act like that.

(Tack on that the PC and Jory’s reactions completely missed the maipulation that was happening, and just described it as Caithe being in some ‘dark places’, and it really felt, well, yucky.)

After writing and deleting a vitriolic rant that was not in the least constructive, but boy howdy did it make me feel better, I’ll just say I don’t want to play Caithe or any other NPC in this game, ever again.

I’ve got my own characters, thanks. Level 80 and geared up and built to my own specifications. If you want me to know what Caithe did in the past, please just show me a cutscene.

Yes, it does work. As you may already know, the level cap for npc’s is actually 82. Veteran Guards and Scouts have an internal statistic called “Morale”. This can be boosted by ordering an upgrade in the camp or keep of the npc, or it can be manually boosted by /cheering at the npc in question. By boosting their morale, you can raise their level from 80 to 82.

Note that the Morale isn’t permanently boosted after /cheering, and requires refreshing every hour (much like siege). As a result, I know some T1 servers have created specific /cheering squads, usually led by an upper-middle class teenage Caucasian female, that go around and /cheer the npc’s every hour. It’s a thankless job, but crucial to your server’s WvW effort.

I would definitely quit playing if that ever happened.
EoTM is fine to just jump in for half an hour or so, but it’s just karmatraining.
No reason to defend anything, no reason to care about a score.
The map is overly cluttered and simply annoying to traverse.
The only place where there is some open space for a skirmish is the blue corner, but then you have turrets ruining any flow of combat.
There is absolutely no bond whatsoever between player and map.
It’s pretty much a mix of everything thats wrong in wvw, pve and pvp.

i can solo camps using my ranger. i’m playing a zerker ranger because i have the guts to do so. you dont go play what everyone else plays and tell yourself you’re good. it just makes you another scrub.

i’ve played my class in spvp/tpvp long enough to get it effective in wvw. seriously, i treat a thief as i treat an ele. just another loot bag i can take for free. the percentage of me winning against a thief 1v1 in wvw is like 90% wins. what i dont like about them is that when they are outnumbered they can easily disengage through spamming an insane number of stealths.

you people should not treat rangers like they are really that bad. i once killed 2 thieves 1 mesmer with the help of a single ranger ally. you guys have been fighting a lot of bad rangers too much.

So you win against thieves 90% of the time but also want them to be nerfed? Really?

Sounds like either rangers should be nerfed or thieves should be buffed. Real balance would mean its a 50:50 chance of winning a 1vs1.

This is something that would enhance the comfort. It is annoying to always open my inventory for food, minis and other stuff.

Just implement additional indiviual side bars like every other MMO. I never got why Anet is so restricive with the UI.

No More New Currencies for New Rewards

When the game launched, there were 5 major currencies:

  • Gold
  • Gems
  • Karma
  • Dungeon Tokens
  • Badges of Honor

As of now, the amount of currencies has nearly doubled with the addition of:

  • Laurels
  • Commendations
  • Fractal Relics
  • Pristine Fractal Relics

I did not include Influence and Merits in this because those are earned on a per guild rather than per person basis. I also did not include sPvP currencies.

At launch, players could effectively earn the majority of the currencies with a playstyle that included 1 or 2 of the major game systems (open world PvE, WvW, Dungeons).

The consequence of all these currencies is that they all now have exclusive rewards.

  • I can not earn ascended amulets or other laurel vendor gear with by playing though dungeons, WvW, or fractals. I must do dailies to gain awards that are exclusive to dailies; therefore, I must add dailies to my playstyle.
  • I can not earn ascended earrings(accessories) by doing WvW, fractals, dungeons, or PvE. I now must add Guild Missions to my playstyle OR sacrifice a month worth of dailies + monthly + 50ecto to afford one earring.
  • I can not earn ascended rings by playing dungeons, WvW, or open world PvE. I must either add fractals and dailies to my playstyle .
  • I can not earn ascended back pieces by playing dungeons, WvW, Guild Missions, Dailies, or open world PvE. I must add fractals to my playstyle.

So, as of right now, I must do the following to gear 1 character:

  • Guild Missions
  • Fractals
  • Dailies/Monthlies
  • Dungeons/Crafting for exotic armor

God help you if you prefer playing WvW…
Oh, and by the way, I have 8 characters…


I humbly submit that you do not add any more currencies. You are not extending the goal post anymore; you are adding multiple goal posts in every kitten direction. As soon as I run one way, there’s a goal post in a COMPLETELY different direction. I consider myself “hardcore”, but this is getting extremely tiring.

To be clear, I am NOT saying that you should not add more content.

What I’d like is for rewards for new content to be tied to existing currencies.

I suggest that you:

Add all ascended gear types to

  • Guild Merits
  • Dungeons (i.e. require 3-4 gifts to make an accessory)
  • WvW
  • Fractals (edit)
  • Karma (edit)
  • CRAFTING

And for the sake of Lyssa, use NEW SKINS AS INCENTIVES INSTEAD OF STATISTICAL INCREASES. I can tell you right now those using medium armor classes really could use some options.

Skins and titles are what kept people playing in GW1; new long term goal posts every month are what’s driving wedges in the game now.

Because there is soo much more important things being worked on atm. I believe these features will come when ready since they were in GW1 and were attractive but currently it just isn’t that imporant as fixing spvp and wvw.

When going full berserker, you do a 1/3rd of the warrior damage.
When going full utility/support, you support 1/4th of the guardian.
When going… and so on.

There’s no reason to play a ranger at all, at any given time at any given place. On top of that, they get nerfed almost every new patch.

Because lion’s arch chat / that lfg site are constantly filled with “need 4m zerker engies”, the ulimate OP / cheese composition in tPvP is double engy bunker (for the non-stop sustain), plus another engy to bring IoL, timewarp and portal, and in WvW 60% of zergs are made up of plate wearing engies waving their greatswords around and the ultimate small group / roamer class are those special stealth engies that can escape a bad situation 90% of the time.

@Runiir: Riffle has more damage than FT on glass cannon build. Other toolbelt (Grenade, Spanner, even elixir gun) is much better than FT right now.

TLDR: FT need more buff, make it tankier, or make flame wider,
