Elite Specializations.

I was so looking forward to logging in on launch, to build my reaper in WvW only to find that the whole profession line is locked behind a massive wall.

I don’t do PVE content, even though i have tried it to see if the whole hero point acquisition was any more bearable, it wasn’t.

400 hero points to actually play the game, Especially when your “proof of heroics” are RNG (i got 2 from one rank up, seriously?) , is completely ridiculous.

Atleast one of these things needs to happen.

1. Up the drops for proof of heroics and make them a staple amount rather than random, so we know when we’ll actually be able to play elite specs.

2. Lower the amount of hero points needed.

3. Reintroduce world xp consumables to laurel and/or badge vendors.

So essentially, if you have world completion, you get half an elite spec?

I don’t even know how to put into words how completely awful this is.

Yes, unless you prefer wxp boosters for some reason.
Don’t except them to reward those proofs retroactively though, as it sounds they may not do that.

Edit: using the wxp stuff now give you instant wxp and therefore levels, but it probably won’t result in more hero points on launch, if you hold on to them though you guarantee 50% faster wxp gain and therefore faster hero point acquisition.

I’d just like to repeat my usual complaint. Rifles have too short a Range to be valuable.

Rifle range needs to be upped to 1500. It shoots too slow and does too little damage to have utility otherwise as most classes can close 1200 with one ability.

Fix the rifle.

About 1 out of 10 matches I see at least 1 person running obvious hack mods and I don’t mean bots or macros, I mean flat out tampering with client-side files and nothing kittenes me off more than people acting like it isn’t a problem in Guild Wars 2.
I assume the reason why half the community likes to act like it isn’t real, is because many of them are running some dodge bot or small mod themselves. Usually it’s the people who try and viciously defend the idea that hacking doesn’t exist in Guild Wars 2 and anyone who brings up the topic is a fool, who are using 3rd party mods themselves.

Go run a simple GOOGLE search on it, educate yourself and learn how to identify/report it. Still don’t believe me after GOOGLE search? GO youtube it. Plenty of players have been caught in recordings while running hacks.

Funny you mention that. I’ve had similar experiences and it always seems to happen against random shady 5 man premades that I’ve never seen before. I also notice that DCs will happen against these same kind of shady premades and I’m talking players on my team that I’ve gamed with for a very long time now, will suddenly DC. These are people who usually never ever have lag or DC issues. Always happens when we are ahead in points.

Berserker Doesn't Change how Warrior Plays

in Warrior

Posted by: BurrTheKing.8571

BurrTheKing.8571

After playing BW3 I think it’s fairly safe to say that the biggest issue with the Berserker is the design of the form itself. Once you stop going Berserk you feel like a weaker Warrior and I often found myself not using my normal burst skills so that I could insure that once the form came off of CD I could just jump into it.

I assume the long CD was to differentiate Berserk from Death/Reaper Shroud. However, I feel like going Berserk would be much more fun if you could maintain the form longer by consistently hitting the enemy. Changes like this would be radical, but would really make Berserker feel like a totally different playstyle to Warrior:

  • Berserk has no CD, but by default a lower duration.
  • Landing Primal Bursts extends your Berserk time.
  • You only have Berserk Form and Primal Bursts, you lose your regular Bursts.

Now, I know I’m being vague in terms of times. This is just something that you would have to mess around with until it feels right.

That probably sounds crazy to some, but if all you have to do to go Berserk is reach that 30 adrenaline and you have no CD on the form then you not only don’t need those normal bursts anyways, but it also makes a Berserker very different from Warrior.

Right now, Berserker just feels like Warrior + a new form. By losing their normal Burst skills, the player has truly become something very different than a standard Warrior. You will be consistently angry and a good Berserker will STAY angry. Right now, a Berserker gets angry for a very specific amount of time…then goes back to being a Warrior.

Having consistent access to 5 second CD bursts would also potentially make Discipline (Fast Hands) feel less mandatory. I still think Fast Hands should be baseline, but if the devs aren’t OK with this then at least you’ll be less punished for having a slower weapon swap because you’ll be able to push out more Primal Bursts.

Like many of my posts, I know a radical rework (more in the terms of design as opposed to the difficulty to implement) such as this will mostly likely not happen, nor will this be seen by any of the class design devs. However, the idea of Berserker being a spec that allows you to consistently enter this new form at the cost of your old abilities seems much more in line with what Elite Specializations are supposed to be. The Reaper seems VERY different from the Necro because a major part of their mechanics change. Berserker is Warrior + New stuff – a specialization you probably didn’t wanna give up for Berserker.

The Rifle, The shotgun(Proposal)

in Warrior

Posted by: Smoosh.2718

Smoosh.2718

As it stands currently the rifle has a very niche role in Gw2, Back line sniping or roaming. When put against the longbow in PvE the Longbow wins on both Auto attack and skill damage + Utility. Even the overall damage done on [Combustive Shot] does more damage over time than [Kill Shot] does. (providing the target stays in the field for the duration).

Now what I would propose to create a wider use for the rifle across all game modes is to change the rifle into more of a brawling weapon; A shotgun. Built for your 0-600 or 0-900 range encounters.

Reason for the rifle being a shotgun rather than a sniper/machine-gun:

Lets face it, the warrior isn’t an assassin, we’re a brawling class, meant for close in your face fights. I can see the kill shot builds working for classes such as the thief and ranger but not the warrior. The purpose of this shotgun would be a short range cone cleave weapon hitting up to 3 targets in front of you. This would then allow the warrior to fit the shotgun into a melee bruiser build designed to keep up constant pressure in close range encounters. This would then allow for more utility and use for such a weapon. giving it that multi target range attack option.

Types of skills to expect:

1:
Frag shot (3 foes):
Fire a shotgun blast hitting foes in front of you, Will be a narrow cone aoe getting wider the further away the shots go, because of this being able to hit 3 foes the range would drop from 1,200 to either 600 or 900 being max range. (most fights arent done beyond 600 range anyway(unless in WvW))
Max range 600-900

2:
Slowing Flechette round (3 foes):
Fire a shell filled with flechette’s coated in a toxin designed to slow reflexes.
Causes 2-3s of slow
Max range 600-900

3:
Buckshot (3 foes):
Fire a heavy blast of shells at a foe causes more damage the closer they are to you and cause vulnerability equal to the distance from you (more vuln the closer).
High damage 0-200m 8% Vuln
Mid damage 200-350m +6% Vuln
Low damage 350m
+ 4% Vuln
Max range 600-900

4:
Beanbag round (Single target):
Fire a beanbag at your foe winding them and causing cripple to the foe.
Cripple duration 3-5s
(Can be made range dependant too, closer they are, the longer the cripple)
Max range 600-900

5:
Slugshot (Single target):
Fire a high powered round at your foe inflicting high damage with increased range.
Max range 1200m

F1:
High explosive round (Multi target AoE 5 foes):
Fire a high powered shot which explodes on impact causing a small knockback and damage.
Knockback range 50-120m (Small knockback)
Max range 1200m

Alright that’s my suggestion of a rifle rework to be remade into a shotgun brawling weapon, giving it more support to your party and greater viability for all game modes. This proposed change would give so much utility to the rifle and hopefully create a more enjoyable mid range combat setting.

Tell me what you think about this proposed change, what you’d suggest and what you like or don’t like.

Berserker BWE3 Feedback

in Warrior

Posted by: BurrTheKing.8571

BurrTheKing.8571

Currently, half of the blame resides with the design of the Berserker and the other half lies with the base Warrior. It’s hard to build a good house on sand.

The Issues with Berserker:

The trait line isn’t bad, but it brings nothing that makes it worth taking over Strength (Arms in some condi builds), Defense, or Discipline.

Rage Skills are basically just a different breed of Physical skills.

As a result they will not generally be used for exactly the same reason. I don’t LIKE using stances, but not using them means you’re a poor Warrior unless you’re playing Shoutbow. I can see Reaper being used on a team because while it can be very selfish it does some very useful things like AoE Chill and boon stripping. What do Rage skills bring to your team? A (very) brief reflect.

Now the obvious exception is Outrage. It has good synergy with Rousing Resilience…but you’ll still probably just see people bring Last Stand. Oh, and I’m pretty sure Savage Instinct isn’t triggering RR even though I’m pretty sure it should. Head Butt isn’t bad….but feels really clunky and inconsistent.

A focus on condi when now many, many, many specs have a plethora of removal/negation options.

Applying a good amount of Burn means bringing Rage Skills, which means you’ll have much less sustain. Now, you can go for just a moderate amount of burning but I was under the impression that the theme was supposed to be “everything is on fire all the time!” with the differentiation to Burn Guards being that the Guard is more about burst burning while Berserker is about sustained burn.

The design of the Berserk Mode itself.

I’m assuming that in an effort to differentiate Berserk from Death/Reaper Shroud the Devs gave the form a CD. However, this does not only make me not feel like a Berserker, but it also hurts it mechanically as well. When you aren’t in Berserk mode you feel weak. The CD also means you probably won’t see any Berserkers in organized PvE either.

Now, if Shroud is an ability that is a bit slower to gain but lasts a long time, why not make Berserk easy to enter but harder to maintain? Make us have to constantly smack enemies to stay angry but if they pull a invuln/chain blocks etc. you just have to get full adrenaline aging rather than sitting around waiting for the form to come off CD and not using your class mechanic cause you wanna make sure you can enter the form when it’s off CD.

The Issues of the Base Warrior:

Like several classes, Warrior is almost required to run certain specs depending on the game mode. However, many of those classes are just tied to a single spec, Warrior is tied to two. In fact, depending on what kind of build you’re going for your other spec is often decided for you as well.

No Defense? Have fun melting to even a small amount of condi pressure once your Berserker Stance wears off.

No Discipline? Enjoy 10 second weapon swaps on weapons clearly designed around rapidly swapping. No Warrior’s Sprint also means you’ll be a breeze to kite.

Going Power w/o Strength? Enjoy dealing much less damage and losing out of your GS trait (you’re probably using GS). Oh, and if you want to make a condi build using CC weapons you need this as well for Body Blow and Distracting Strikes.

Going Condi (in base War why would you though?) without Arms? You now have much lower condi application

While in theory having Strength and Arms decided for you depending on what type of damage you want to do is fine, being forced into Defense and Discipline is not.

Warrior is great for stomping noobs, but someone with any sort of knowledge about the class will just easily squash you unless they majorly screw up.

I’m totally cool with Shouts and Stances being there for new players, but just because the class is designed around mechanical simplicity doesn’t mean it can’t offer a bit more for veteran players.

Looping back around to Rage skills, why can’t sundering Leap be the Warrior version of Blink/Flash? Obviously you can’t make it work on all ledges/bridges but being able to chase after classes that can reach them would go a long way. Shattering Blow is just…there. A Warrior with a shield and/or mace has a lot of reflect already and the duration is too short to be reliably timed (It can also randomly swing you the opposite way of your target). Being able to move while constantly punching rocks (not “summoning”) like the Dragon Hunters’ block only with reflect would at least add a bit of team utility.

Being able to have a bit of nuanced sustain that involves positioning and timing and is also VIABLE would open a ton of options.

One last thing I’m going back and forth on, while many agree that Fast Hands needs to be baseline, I’m starting to think that the movement speed increase with melee weapons needs to be baseline as well.

Why? Even with baseline Fast hands you become very, very easy to kite. Warrior’s Sprint could still be a trait…maybe make it remove Chill and Slow as well? Warrior is a class focused on melee combat, sure we have ranged options but they’re almost never the main focus of a build. Right now, Reapers and Scrappers feel more like Warriors than Warriors in terms of melee sustain.

This was a longwinded rant I know, but I’m just so utterly disappointed by Berserker that I want to get all my thoughts out.

Make "Fast Hands" a baseline trait?

in Warrior

Posted by: Cortano.5419

Cortano.5419

Fast hands is important to warriors because without it, the warrior mechanism (finishing attacks) just doesn’t work well. We have some amazing talents that trigger off of finishers ( +20% damage, clear 3 conditions ), and the finishers themselves are very powerful. Being able to swap just for the finisher makes the warrior a ton better. Without fast hands, you basically can’t use addren fast enough.

In one sense, this is why Berserker is so poor. We already can swap weapons and land a finisher every ~7 seconds and trigger some amazing side-effects. Being able to trigger a lesser effect every 5 seconds without the supporting effects from talents is just… ‘meh’.

Berserker proposal - Decapitate improvement

in Warrior

Posted by: BurrTheKing.8571

BurrTheKing.8571

I got something even more fun in mind.

Decapitate becomes a sort of reverse Arcing Strike and deals more damage the higher their health is. Once they’re low it deals very little damage. However, if you use it to knock someone’s health to 0, they just die. No downed state, just the sweet embrace of
Grenth.

It would rarely happen, but when it does you will feel like the most powerful person alive.

Btw, idc if it’s “OP” it sounds stupidly fun in my head.

2. I would rather pay 800 gems for the whole dye pack, account bound or give us the option.
3. COME ON! its just color, this should be free in the first place.
4. There is someone out there buying all the low quantity rare dyes and just over pricing it, +800g.
5. I used to play the flipping game back when I was playing RS but GW2 has to much actions and I have limited time to just play another flipping market game. So no, Im not going to do that again.
6. We all love a free market but somethings just give an advantage, especially things coming out the Gem Store.

Some rich dude who doesnt even bother much about dyes and the way he looks, just bought that dye for 800g, just to make you jealous.

Thats crazy! I wouldnt mind buying the whole pack if they sold it for 800 gems($10) instead of gambles because thats already like +$90 by the time it gets to flippers

I am sorry but my guild was having its weekly manipulation-workshop the other day and in honor of Exclusivity Month, which Tin Foil [Hats] holds every year in August in anticipation of Anniversary Week, we discussed several concepts and action plans to express our exclusivity while making a gold coin or two.

While we have always been a bunch of super-wealthy know-it-alls, whose primary goals were to get super wealthy and manipulate markets in order to make the overall gaming experience for casuals and veterans alike as dislikeful as possible, we have also started to rp.

To distinguish ourselves from casuals and non hardcore veterans, we invented new looks for our mains that on one hand use skins and dyes that are limited, so they are easily manipulated with the unlimited gold supply we have, and on the other hand, show how awesome and amazing we are.
Once we established. which skins and dyes we want to use, we bought up all remaining supply, not to resell them with a profit but to make the mayority of the supply unavailable to all the casuals and noncore veterans, which we deem unworthy to even apply to join our exclusive, amazing and awesomely super wealthy club of gentlemen.

So let me get this correct please cause i have a feeling i may be confused. Warrior was so op, this class was so strong, this mighty class was so epic, that they had to nerf its adrenaline when everything (dmg/regen/burst skills) is tied to it?

Also this mighty class had all elite skills so epic, so strong, so monumental that they had to nerf the one which was 99% warriors using so that it reaches epicness of the other elite skills? Ok then i guess i have no more questions then.
