Primordus Virtus Guild – Balls Deep Crew
Blackgate Server
Dear Arena Net,
I recently posted this suggestion in the WvW section and had a lot of positive feedbacks. Would be nice if you took 5 minutes to read and consider my idea. Thank you.
Thread
So I was thinking about that: I hate WvW queues, and I’m obviously not the only one. But what I really hate about it, it’s not really the fact that I have to wait to get in the bordeland I want to go. What I really hate, is that I don’t know for how long I will be waiting before I get teleported.
Tell me what you guys think about this: it’s only a little feature with the queues so that people waste less time waiting to get in WvW, especially on reset night. It’s very simple, only show us what position we’re at in the queue. I hate to see myself waiting in Lion’s Arch for hours, not wanting to start anything by fear it will ask me at anytime to teleport, before I get asked to switch to the borderland I want to go. It’s could be as simple as when we put our mouse over the WvW icon, it shows up something like: “You are 24th in the queue” or whatever. Or something in the WvW window. When we are in queue, there’s a little image on the WvW icon that shows us that we’re in a queue, if anyone noticed it, and that’s it. Useless in my opinion. ArenaNet could do something more usefull with this. “It is better to know for how long we’re waiting than rather just leave fristrated”.
Tell me your opinion, this is mine. I just think it would be nice to know how many time is left approximately to join the WvW, so we could go in dungeons or whatever.

Nonononono….
Stupidity in the player base isn’t a reason to avoid a solution to our problems! If we give up complexity constantly to make sure that people understand everything up front and hold their hands through the whole experience it becomes uncustomizable and -boring-..
If they messed with the settings, it should be their job to educate themselves on the mechanics enough to hover over the tooltip and read it. Seriously, people are challenged less and less in the modern world and games get rid of features in an attempt to garner the kind of player which.. if they can’t figure out they hid their story quest, honestly have no chance of getting that far in the game in the first place. If they are really that… special… I can hardly see them getting around in the later zones due to not upgrading armor. They’d probably get lost and die repeatedly before uninstalling it and deleting their hard drive. Seriously, we aren’t that dumb. Some of us are asura.
This is not a point and click mmo, they have to learn to level up already. Give us more credit as a playerbase, please.
Please add the ability to hide and show UI elements. Use a nice little graphical “mini UI” in the settings with areas greyed out if you have to.. to make it more strikingly obvious which ones are enabled and disabled. Games such as Tribes do this, and we don’t exactly need to be rocket scientists to figure the settings out. Also, add the ability to disable the experience bar at the bottom of my screen. It is almost never accurate after lvl 80 anyway. Its taking space and I dislike seeing an orange line constantly.
Please?
Another interesting idea would be to have a hybrid hidden UI that allows you to hide your skill bars but have an option to show the buttons (along with a cooldown) only when they are on cooldown. Also only show health when you aren’t at full.. only show stamina when you need to. You get the idea, right?
We’d love it, and alot of people are asking for viewer modifications like WoW has. Give us a bone, will yah?
[x] Display the Personal Story steps on the main screen interface.
And also:
[X] Display Personal Story Waypoint on the world map.
You might be surprised at how many problems that might cause. “Fast cast ground targeting”, for example, is an option you have to turn on under Options, but I regularly see posts from players who can’t figure out why siege weapons won’t work for them. (It’s trying to target their mouse cursor.) If you click on the title line for story steps, meta events, etc., it will hide all of the objectives. You’ll still have the green step title, but it will clear some of the clutter.
Knives can kill people.
We all have sharp knives at our homes.
I understand the need to care about all players, including those who accidentally click everything and think later, but having a tick-able option in the Hero panel, under Personal Story, that would hide it off completely would be awesome indeed.
Default:
[x] Display the Personal Story steps on the main screen interface.
Please. THIS. I want a modular UI, and the ability to hide whatever elements I don’t need/want to see. Player stupidity/clue-less-ness is NOT an excuse to lack an option that should by rights be part of the game by default. I really hate UI clutter.
Frankly, the option should be there. If players can’t figure out basic UI management, that’s kind of on them. Omitting features for the sake of idiot-proofing is essentially throwing out baby with the bathwater.

*Rants not intended. This is clearly a reasonable opinion based on evidential facts towards the decisions made by the developers into altering the Ranger Profession.
After reading the many negative feedbacks to the recent, if not the already weeks old Nerfs to the Ranger’s PvP Abilities (Laughable) in relation to the unnecessary changes in the many debatable aspects of this class/profession (w/e), I empathize much to those who think Anet made some terrible decisions into altering little insignificant changes to supposedly ‘balance’ the Ranger profession.
The main issues I see that takes a big toll in the ranger Profession are as follows in this list: (If I missed some other issues feel free to add them to the list)
- Lacking in Damage Output. (Ranged wise)
- Not enough Crowd Control Skills to counter group Ganks (zergs)
- Most skills are one to one combat and not enough AoE offensives.
- Survivability laughable.
- Pet functionality flawed. (Maybe some sort of coding could fix this issue)
- Pets being too squishy.
- Damage split between the Ranger and its Pet does not compute.
- Arrow projection easily evaded.
- Arrows easily out of range. (Mentioned as a bug supposedly)
- Arrow obstructions easily exploited.
- Medium Armor defensive capabilities questionable.
- Weapon choices questionable. Ranger’s should be mastered in the use of a Bow increasing their damage output, yet they do more damage with melee weapons? Does not compute.
Minor Issues:
- Spirits squishy.
- Utility/Elite Cooldowns unreasonable long. For something to have a really long CD, the performance of such a skill must be so great that it alters the situation in combat.
This is not the case.
- Signets provide little to no benefit.
- Shortbow decreased in arrow speed. (An Unnecessary Nerf)
Evidence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_W75Zw5fqU
This video showed the critical difference before and after the patch of the oh so terrifying “Animation bug” fix that Anet considered as a high prioritized threat to the Ranger Profession. Both before and after shots of the video showed the SAME arrow explosion animations with one notable difference. One was faster than the other.
The issue was not within the skill Quickening Zephyr nor the so called ‘Animation Bug’ Anet was lead to believe to exist, but the reduced ‘Attack Speed’ or arrow speed of the shortbow. This resulted in a completely downgraded performance of the shortbow itself, reducing its overall damage output, therefore degrading the Ranger’s performance all together.
Ofcourse, in every thread created there will be arguments and disagreements towards this, but I base my information from the experiences as a Ranger in PvP and these issues are far too blatant to ignore.
Regardless of the changes, I still manage to excell in PvP as a Ranger with the use of proper player skills and knowledge base of the profession and avoiding group ganks because lets face it, its not like Rangers can kill three or four enemies by himself. Quite possible but heavily difficult. If thats the type of play style that some prefer, then be my guest.
My 2 cents. Quite lengthy and I do advice no flame or troll be sent into this thread. The purpose was to share my opinions of the main issues dealt with the Ranger profession. Ofcourse I may be wrong in a couple points but its just based on opinionated responces. Feel free to share your troubles within the Ranger Profession.
