Could people stop trying to pin blame on larger guilds for SOR’s current state.
In reality even after those guilds left things never got better.
If it was the loss of TW/Fear/Choo and larger wvw guilds" then SoR wouldn’t have lost a ton of WvW’ers back in Sept.-Nov. of this year.
So what would explain the current state SOR is in?
In all honesty it’s the divide of different types of players, lack of teamwork that happened, lack of communication, babysitting guilds because they wouldn’t speak to one another half the time, and lack of fun. It’s not based off of X guild or Y guild.
About the people on SoR now being the Real SoR. That is kinda hurtful to those of us who had to move off the server to save our guilds from dying out, or save ourselves from quitting GW2 again due to lack of players to wvw with.
I know I myself moved my main off SoR; however I never stopped caring for SoR even to this day.
Did I want to move off sor? No.
Did I move my main? Yes.
Reason was because the time I play there was no one in WvW, and playing WvW alone was boring and it was either I moved, or took yet another break from GW2. Now I did leave an alt account on SoR, and I am a Rallian for life, however to hear it spoken as I am not a “true SoR” is a bit demeaning/offensive.

Microsoft is a several billion dollar company in income. ArenaNet is barely breaking 100 million dollars.
More specifically, ANet’s transaction agent, the company that handles all the accepted forms of payment as well as charging tax when appropriate, doesn’t handle BitCoin.

You’re mad at Anet for something that you intrinsically assigned value to?
I vote that Super Adventure Box is an upgrade available for guild halls as well!
Maybe even a super adventure themed Guild Halls as well

Proposal Overview:
Guild Training Ground
Goal of Proposal:
Having better tools to train members in different aspects of the game (mainly for PvE).
Proposal Functionality:
Adding some training golems (like in heart of the mists) but we would keep PvE stats (as we already have PvP golems).
Adding a small “arena” that spawns enemies/boss that doesn’t give any loot/exp, for fast testing.
Adding a small PvP arena with limited abilities.
Associated Risks:
1v1 guild server would probably never been used anymore
You stop siege trolling, they’ll buy merchants during an attack. You stop that, they’ll suicide golems. You stop that, they’ll run around your towers, turning all your siege backwards (yes, I’ve seen this).
You have to stop the trolls directly.
Just look at the dungeon exploit situation in this very game. Band-aid fixes like invisible walls for two years did nothing but temporarily slow down exploiters. And now (finally) Anet has GMs joining parties to ban people.
Multiguilders have already their way and their reasons, so what about giving Home Guilders solid reasons and tools to also have their way? Make committing to a single guild worth it through specialization, and have the bonus make up for renouncing to hopping, make loyalty count.
I tend to think that home-guilders need to earn loyalty, not command it. If I belonged to multiple active guilds, and enjoyed doing that, I wouldn’t want to feel like I was missing out by not committing to a single co-dependent guild. If you have a tight “home guild” and you want your members to stick with your guild, then make it a fun place to be, have a nice community and smooth activities and people will want to stay. If they don’t, then they were never yours to begin with. You shouldn’t be given special tools to bribe people into hanging out with you (although you might want to try actually bribing players into hanging out with you, start sending them money and prizes and they might stick around).
you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”
Proposal Overview
Guild Commander Tag
Goal of Proposal
Allow leaders of successful PvE and WvW guilds to differentiate themselves on the map, allow members to quickly recognize and join allies in activities, and create a more visible sense of community within guilds.
Proposal Functionality
Unlocked from upper tiers of EITHER Art of War or Politics upgrades via Influence, Guild Commendations, AND Badges of Honor or Karma, respectively. Authorized members will have a mini Guild Emblem selectable as their commander tag.
Details:
- Only be visible to guild members.
- Cap on number of tags per members online and per zone to prevent abuse.
Associated Risks
- Inconsistency in visibility from other commander tags – Will require time for players to adjust.
- Improper balance of unlocking cost may undermine cost of default commander tags.

Proposal Overview
Roster Seperation by Ranks
Goal of Proposal
Provide overview for everyone in the Guild who is in what rank
Proposal Functionality
Current Roster lumps everyone together, indicating ranks only by a small symbol. Preferably, it would be easier to provide a segregation by rank, again similar to GW1’s Roster, but with the dynamics of GW2’s ranking system. This would make it easier for new members to identify the “officers” and “leaders” and make new members easier to identify for the current members.
Associated Risks
In general, maybe a full-blown Guild Menu GUI interface may be required, as other suggestions or plans at ANet may not be compatible with this. The main goal is clearer differentiation within the roster anyway.
Proposal Overview
Guild Tags/Leader Tags
Essentially commander tags that are only visible to people in the guild, has its own permission under guild roles.
Goal of Proposal
This would cut down greatly on the amount of commander tags on display during guild missions, prevent accidental splitting of a zerg when a WvW guild group runs through (also would prevent spy’s from knowing the location of said guild group if it was really an issue).
In larger group content it would also allow you to find your group easier and result in less bystanders coming to see why there is a tag up.
Proposal Functionality
A visually distinct map icon (i.e your guilds banner) that appears on the map for players with it active, can only be seen by members of your guild.
A role setting under the guild permissions, activation from the same interface as the commander tag.
Associated Risks
Potentially more tag spam if you’re in a large guild.
11x level 80’s 80+ Titles 2600+ skins , still a long way to go.
Proposal Overview:
Make letters not sent to guild members count towards excessive messaging or a way to send a message to an individual guild member on guild kick.
Goal of Proposal
To enable a smoother elimination of inactive members and also give them a reason of why they are no longer part of the guild and who to contact when/if they come back.
Proposal Functionality
Make messages sent to guild members not count towards excessive message limit. The other option is when kicking a guild member, give a prompt asking if you would like to send the member a message and if yes, open a new window to send it to them, much as mail currently works.
Associated Risks
Possibility of spam through this, although the kick message would only be able to be sent once as they are then kicked.
Below is my original post that I condensed into the above format.
One thing I would like as a guild leader is for letters that are sent to my guild mates not to count towards the excessive messaging limit. I like the idea already proposed about mass bulletins but this doesn’t address a problem we’ve had before.
To put this in perspective, I’m part of a larger guild which was made when the game launched. We have a policy of after a certain period of not logging in, kicking players for inactivity. When we kick those who are inactive, we send a mail explaining the reason for the guild kick and to re contact us if they start playing again and what not.
The problem with this is that we have officers/leaders sitting there just waiting to be able to send this mail to them as the game doesn’t give a kicked player any indication of when or why they were kicked from a guild. Another possible way to do this is when you kick players from guild, leave the ability to send a message which will persist until the member dismisses it.
Thanks for the CDI and I look forward to some great additions to the current guild system!

Proposal Overview
Guild Event Calendar
Goal of Proposal
create a fast and easy way to schedule guild events without having to send out mail or whispers to your guild.
Proposal Functionality
Under the guild window there would be a calendar tab with a plan blank calendar
- ability to add events
- date and time info along with ingame waypoint or poi
- ability to have the event span across more than one day
- ability to have events repeat like when make up guild missions take place ect.
- rank options for who can add, remove, edit and view
- option to be able to be mailed a summary (per player so if a player wants to opt out of it they can)
- option to turn on anet events ( things like feature patch updates or pvp/wvw tournament starts)
Associated Risks
- spam
- inappropriate language or events added
- conflicting events with other guilds (note that every guild would have there own and other guilds would not be able to see them unless you were a member of that guild)
I really hope Ban Bot doesn’t get banned for this. Funny troll, but never did he claim to be A-Net Staff, just spoke with authority, and you fell for it. If he gets Banned, I may just stop buying gems from A-Net, as I wouldn’t want to support a company that can’t take a joke, especially one that follows their own rules.
Sincerely, someone who laughed when he read the chat box.
It comes down to how the majority of people perceive it, not what he technically said.
He thinks he is being clever acting like an Anet employee, while never saying it. Problem is, that’s enough.
It’s like that scam where someone pulls up to a valet and some guy in a vest walks up to the driver and puts his hand out for the keys, the driver hands him the keys, and then the guy drives off in his car. Then the real valet comes out and is all like “that dude doesn’t work for us!” Technically he never told the driver he was a valet, but the driver assumed (fairly) he was the valet based on how he was acting, how he was dressed and the specific circumstance he was in.
Are we saying that the guy who took the car didn’t impersonate a valet simply because he didn’t say he was the valet? No, he impersonated a valet by acting like one.
Just like this guy impersonated an Anet employee by acting like one.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
PvP Gameplay Programmer
After thinking about this I feel like many of you think that every dev should have complete understanding of every aspect of this game. And my gut reaction is to say that it is unreasonable to expect that from us, after all Guild Wars 2 is a huge game, and even now I am still discovering new things in it. And whether or not it is reasonable to expect that, it is not that I don’t have complete understanding due to a lack of trying. I mean sure I only spend about 20 hours a week on my own time playing Guild Wars 2, this does not include the time that ArenaNet sets aside for all of their employees to play the game, and sometimes it can be hard to get through jumping puzzles, fractals, WvW, activities, sPvP, dungeons, tPvP, living story, Hot-Joins, crafting, guild missions, ect with only a finite amount of time each week to play. I could probably cut more time out of playing other games, enjoying my hobbies, working to improve my programming ability, trying to maintain friendships and spending time with family to play more Guild Wars, but right now that isn’t something I am willing to do. So instead I’m just going to understand that some players are going to see problems that I don’t. And ask them for as much information I can so that the problem can be identified and fixed. And I appreciate that our players understand this as well and are willing to bring these problems up in a polite and respectful manner.

If 300g is nothing now, then anyone that thinks so can send me 300g now. After all, it’s a very low amount, so you won’t miss it.
So, if everyone puts their money where their mouth is, I should be expecting several thousand gold in my mail in a few minutes.
So, we have to send you free gold because it’s easy to obtain ? Nice logic.
Make your own gold, I’m not saying it’s free, but it’s like paying 100g for a commander tag 1 year ago.
Everything has double or triple price now because of inflation, and this will be a good gold sink for the market.
This is not a good gold sink. Anet has even said a gold sink that only applys to specific people and is a gate is not a good gold sink. This does both. And it limits functionality.
I do notice that the wealth distribution across playtypes comes into play here, as well as the understanding of what this is for.
Heres the real deal, in order for colors to be an effective tool for WvW, or large scale PVE, commanders would need to be able to pick their colors according to the situation, in order to do that with a 300 gold PER COLOR system, you would need to spend at least 900 gold, and as much as 1500 gold.
If it was 300 g, and its purpose was just to pick a color you like, it would be fine, but its purpose is to be able to select a color to better organize large scale events. which puts the price tag at 900-1500 g
Also recognize that you dont make the same money in WvW that you do in pve, and no where close to what you make farming.
I suppose with this wealth gap across playtypes, the best solution would be to have an alternate means of getting the colors, say some WvW rank, and badges of honor. Then the PVE method can be 300 gold per color, since apparently thats a good number for you guys.
If 300g is nothing now, then anyone that thinks so can send me 300g now. After all, it’s a very low amount, so you won’t miss it.

A lot of you guys are missing the point.
300g account bound tag— This is GOOD. A great Change
300g/Color— This is a BAD change.
The whole purpose around colored tags that the WvW— and PvE community, Was to provide organization.
Red is havoc
blue is zerging
yellow is x guild.
Blue is cobalt
Red is crimson
etc etc etc.
They completely ruined the feature.
The ENTIRE point of color swaps on commander tags is so people can see what the heck is going on on the map at a glance.
You know how well having two blue guys works? Like crap. Sometimes people will go nuts until everyone but one guy tags off because it’s too confusing.
Simple solution was always: give colors.
Which they are finally doing but for THREE HUNDRED GOLD PER EACH COLOR to be unlocked?
It ceases to even be a feature for WvW. It’s a toy for rich farmlords.
Fact remains that even on these forums in open threads people have been stating that they don’t have an issue with the cost. So why would a closed group be different?
It probably wouldn’t, you’d have some members saying that it was ok and others saying that it wasn’t but I think the main reason for having this kind of group would be so that this kind of discussion (and any outcome from it) would be had before the feature was implemented so that it could feed into the design of that feature. As it is any discussion or feedback is too late to affect anything now.
So many bearbows exist because so many people who want to “help” you kill by using longbow #4 on the mob that you are meleeing.
What are you guys even talking about? Did you play ANY game that had a decent story?
The Storytelling in this LS isnt even acceptable anymore: 98% of the story is delivered through boring dialogue and text, what absolutly kills the tension, the charakters are generic at best and have no depth whatsoever. The death of majories sister was just a joke.We didnt know anything about her, why should we care that she is dead? The game tried to make us feel with majory and failed completly doing so.
And to get the achievments, we have to repeat the story! This is the worst content recycling mechanic I have seen in years…
The update sshowed once again that A-net is incapable of delivering a story
They have created a great mmo, but the living story is disappointing at best!

ArenaNet determined the resource requirements – whatever they are, and it’s not necessary to know for you to understand this point – were beyond what they wanted to spend.
(Edit: just a bit more color. The requirements here could be in terms of programmers, artists, modelers, or some combination of all of the above. Probably some combination of all of the above. I get the feeling that animating chest and leg pieces for all the gender/race/armor-weight combos is a substantial amount of work, so they try to stick to more universal glove+shoulder+boot+helm+back pieces.)
They’ve already said why they did it, so that it would be easier to make new outfit sets going forward. I’m guessing that means that they don’t have to worry about clipping and such between parts any more, which is technically true.
