I stumbled across this and nearly peed myself laughing, mostly because I saw myself in it.

Come on people, you know you’re in there too if you post on forums at all. ;-) Enjoy!

Item Prestige: Not being respected?

I’ve always liked the temporary items as being indicators that you were around at that time. It’s not really a prestige thing, just a memento of sorts. I kept the molten gloves on my engi for a long time because they reminded me of a fun time I had playing with buddies.

Yes Headlines are only 40 characters long. This would be more descriptive headline:

“Cheers for new Pavilion event style” Right? It fits, it tells all, it is more descriptive for headline than “Cheer for anti-zerg philosophy”.

Nnnope. The “Cheers for new Pavilion event style” tells that “pay in-game gold to start event”, “extremely poor rewards for all tiers, especially lower” and “splitting the zerg in 6 groups” are all good. Yet the OP’s title “Cheer for anti-zerg philosophy” states that “splitting the zerg in 6 groups” is good only, which is backed by the post itself telling us “I personally do not care about loot but many people do and won’t play this awesome content unless rewards are made on par.”

20 level 80s and counting.

I like the way they are taking things, but with a large community they need to take it slowly or make the idea obvious so the drones can pick up on it seeing there has been months of zerg for the lootz mentality.

Said it on another topic but they need to color code the boss icons on the mini map to show the level of scaling that is happening so there is some indicator on where you are needed.

I also find it interesting that ArenaNet obviously wants to promote this style of play over the big ‘press 1’ mobbing zerg, but hasn’t given us any tools to do so. Coordination is this game is terribly hard to do, with a lackluster chat system, small party system and rudimentary visual tools. While I agree that the idea is correct, the implementation is very, very wrong. It’s like asking us to dig a lake, then handing us shovels instead of heavy equipment.

If they’re not going to give us the tools to communicate and organize amongst ourselves, they need to find ways on their side to promote that gameplay, whether it’s corralling us into pens a la Marionette, or a buff system like what was implemented with the ButtKnights. Hell, even instancing small content like the Pavilion zones would work. You could bring a party of guildies, or just the first 5/10/15 through the gate. Regardless, one or the other, our side or theirs, needs to have the organization to support the gameplay, and it just doesn’t right now.

It’s not hundreds, it’s closer to 60-70. And it’s not hard. It actually requires a very basic level of communication. No specialized builds needed (though having a couple people who know how to use reflect helps a lot).

The problem is that people would rather complain on forums about how their loot was nerfed than cooperating with the people around them to claim their EASY 8 champ bags every 15-20 minutes or so.

Ok, I’ve come from some more runs in Crown Pavilion….
It’s unfortunate that most people don’t want to listen to anything I or any other commander on the map said. It’s basicly RNG if I’m going to get in a shard where people want to listen/read map chat. So I had some amazingly bad runs and some amazing runs

This event needs about 48-60 people. If you want to get a gold chest you need to split up 8-10 people per boss, no more since they upscale so hard that makes them HARD to kill, and it’s nor fun at all. When you do split you need to kill all bosses realtivly at the same time. So same stuff as with great jungle wurm, get bosses down to 10% of HP and then go for the kill. This is done so other bosses don’t get additional abilites from other bosses. We found out that this tactic is golden Since everytime we did it, we got gold chest. In gold chest you get 8 champ bags + festive tokens and gauntlet tickets.

Now this thread isn’t about rewards, cause like I said in my OP, rewards doesn’t seem balanced now… I just wanted to say that I love that Anet is adding hard content for medium sized group of people. We have Teq/Wurm for massive ammount of people, we have content for solo and small amount of people, but hard content for 40-60 people is missing in game.

I can say from experience that the bandit, pirate and centaur bosses can each be done in the gold time limit with 3-4 people, so 40 should be enough in theory.

Why should you expect these people to listen to you? Some random person in the group, telling Commanders to tag down or your other instructions. They don’t know you from Adam. Don’t know if you are reliable, know what you are talking about or if you are trolling. It’s rather arrogant to be telling strangers how to do something totally different from the way it was the last time and then expecting them to obey.

I don’t necessarily expect strangers to obey. I expect them to weigh up the possibility that I’m talking sense against the fact that what they’re currently doing clearly isn’t working. If they’re not convinced my strategy would work they can ask me why before rejecting it. What they’re currently doing clearly isn’t right so they should be wondering why.

This shouldn’t be a foreign concept to people. It’s common sense.

  • A massive hit to Economic Action (or Economic Movement, if you prefer that term)

Doubt it. The hardcore will just move on to the next farm and we’ll be in the exact same position.

  • A not-inconsiderable hit to getting new players/alts to higher levels quickly and easily

Levels 2 – 30 are the times you need to learn the basics of your character before getting in to traits etc. This is not done by following 50 other people and pressing 1.

  • A detrimental effect on the game’s presentation to new players (difficulty, opportunity, necessity of teamwork, etc.)

See above. Necessity of teamwork has not changed, and the difficulty has changed for the better.

  • A clear and fundamental shift from what Guild Wars 2 prided itself on offering apart from other MMORPGs: a cross-world experience for all players, young and old, that would be made available and enjoyable to players regardless of their in-game level.

This hasn’t changed. The mobs are still there, you still get an item from them.

Do you want us not to farm champs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

I think ArenaNet’s intention of the champ loot bags was not for people to all day accumulate them in the first place but for players to get the odd one or two, or five each day as they explored.

Then people farmed them – making the value of what was inside them drop (on the TP) – so they lowered the loots a little.

Then people farmed some more. People started getting agitated with each other over who does what and who is allowed to kill a champ, and who is too slow because they couldn’t keep up with the train whilst at the same time, one person should wait for the train.

So, sorry, it’s not surprise the champ train got nerfed.

As for people saying it’s all about the gem store – remember that there is no monthly fee to this game, and that gems can also be bought via in-game gold, without obligation.

There are also many, many other champs out there in the PvE areas, as well as loot obtainable from PvP tracks now, and there’s still WvW & EotM zerging if you miss button 1 bashing.

For the people that screamed and shouted and swore at players for killing a champ – I say they have nobody to blame but themselves.

(p.s. this topic should and probably will get merged)

Call me crazy, but I do believe some info about the next update, even if it’s just “hey, we’ll give you a potato in 4 weeks” would calm down the people impatience… such is the gw2 community hunger.

While we’d love to give you a time and date of when we’re sending out the potato, remember that during the development process we may discover that a baked potato would be even better. So instead of getting the potato of your dreams you end up with something completely unexpected.

It often happens that a mashed potato with gravy is even better still, unfortunately gravy requires more dev time. So we end up shipping a mashed potato without gravy to meet our promise of ship time or we push back the time and date of when we are shipping again and again. You get your mashed potato with gravy but it is delivered much later than it was expected.

Worst of all that is when we realize that potatoes are way too mainstream and that yams are where it’s at now. And I think we all know how reactions seem to go when we ship yams instead of potatoes.

So in a lot of cases the best we can do is tell you that we are still in the kitchen cooking things up, we’re reading your feedback, and that we’re excited to get the meal out to you soon™.

This, Sir, is epic. I did completely understand what you mean, but it was also epic fun to read it. Nevertheless, the announcement of the four winds festival is exactly what i asked for and it really makes me happy. We got our potatoe, even if we don’t know how it’ll be.

  • Some of us enjoy doing more than genocide every day.
  • Some of us like to have a place to call our own.
  • Some of us like to decorate.
  • Some of us like to RP.
  • A world isn’t a world if most of the population is homeless. If I wanted to experience that I would just visit Detroit.

Yes some like to decorate. Developing player housing so that some people can fiddle around with it while most players ignore it/stop using it is a big waste of time and money. That’s the point people are trying to make.

Nobody is homeless. Everyone has a home instance. That is where you should be RPing for your “home” setting.

Maybe even add as much diversity as the old Star Wars: Empty Galaxies did to dance moves etc. Perhaps?

Your response shows that you have an ongoing CDI that nobody is paying attention to because you are too busy. Why wasn’t the CDI stopped or paused, or more importantly, why wasn’t there a person designated to continue the process while others were too busy? The brand is now tarnished because whenever you are “too busy”, the community is not that important.

Er… you realize there is NOT a CDI running presently? Specifically because in an environment predicated on every post being read by the hosting Dev, if the Dev’s not available, the social contract is not upheld. So rather than hold a sham (and a sham we’d detect almost instantly) they’re waiting until they can make good on their side of the bargain. There is no promise or presumption that CDIs are a constant undertaking. But if you feel honesty tarnishes the brand… well, I can see why they’re so eager to communicate with you.

Most corporate entities understand that the customer is always first and should never be ignored for even a scant few seconds.

It’s like a time capsule from the 1960s .

The customer hasn’t been first any time this century. Shareholders come first. Sorry if enlightened self-interest dictates spending a month conquering new markets.

Hence my store analogies. When you open a new store, you hire new staff. Some of the existing staff goes to help open the new store…but you only send what you can afford to send. You always leave behind enough to run the old store and handle customer issues. That’s how we do it. Clearly it’s not how ANet does it.

The fact that the guys who can answer us are busy with China is exactly the issue. They did not leave anyone behind to handle the existing market. Why not? And why shouldn’t they be taken to town about this? If we did the same exact thing with one of our stores the community for that store would flip their kitten. It would do irreparable damage to that community and our reputation as a company.

The guys that went over were not the equivalent of lowly retail employees and managers. They are more the equivalent in the retail business of corporate coming to visit.

Also the majority of those that post on the forums here are not the low level employees. They are typically team leads or higher.

It’s not like it’s a completely crazy thing for the Game Director to leave for a big launch. And it’s borderline insane to suggest that they should have hired an additional game director for the China launch.

Video games are not retail, anyway, and I wish we’d quit with the rather tortured metaphors.

They do have a Aisa Game director his name Jason Roberts. But his job is not the same as Chris Whiteside. If the credits are still correct it is more equivlent to Colins Job. Colin may also be in China helping Jason Roberts.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_credits

Ok, I know, I know, you say it’s because of the Chinese release, but I just can’t stop wondering…

…whaddazhaitan are all of them doing in China if they’re launching the same game, simply translated and with a minor premium BLTC thingie, and whaddatrahearne is doing the Chinese team then?

Giving them the same red carpet treatment they gave us when we pre-pruchased the game. Listening to their feedback. Teaching them the game. Responding to their concerns. Playing the game with them.

This is the answer for the thread, where people asked why Anet is silent.
Players either want a comment on every post or won’t be statisfied and I don’t want any arguments going ‘’if they just had one comment explaining’’, players will react negativly whatever Anet does.

They may as well be silent and let the players complain cause they complain anyhow.

OP, you have no idea what real silence means. We are far from that situation. The only reason the devs and customer support are swamped right now is because they LISTENED to the community and implemented many, complicated far reaching yet awesome changes that take time to handle and properly adjust – based on constructive feedback – satisfactorily, often going customer by customer (duplicate gemstore items as a result of the wardrobe, for instance takes seas of time).

This thread is wrong. Just wrong.
