the people that did a daily dungeon tour after unlocking the skins did it for the gold. and now the gold has moved elsewhere (and has generally become material based instead of liquid based). its time for them to follow. farmers gotta farm.
it sucks that their fave gold farm got nerfed. get over it and find the next one. there is always another.
I don’t think you understand. A very non-negligible portion of the playerbase enjoys instanced 5-man content. Running around Silverwastes or farming Flax Seeds is not as enjoyable for these players—The idea that they used to be able to play dungeons with their friends and make solid gold per hour was great. Now that is gone, and it’s certainly not like Fractals can bridge that gap. These players are being told that they can’t make money playing their favorite content. It’s a real shame.
Currently, Druid is not a great healer nor does it do great damage.
Iren is going to make the healing worse and force us into healing power too, so dps will get even lower than ever.
Period.
Gonna main Revenant post patch then.
Where is promised challenging HOT content?

Sounds like the challenging content they were talking about is instanced. I’m going to comfortably guess that the content in question are raids. The raid CDI and them hiring a raid designer makes it a pretty safe bet in my eyes.
Yeah. best community in MMO’s my kitten . Bunch of selfish crybabies who threaten to quit if a gamemode they don’t personally want to play is added. I say good riddance.
Phys, you sort of missed (IMO) the best alternative…
sen·ti·nel
?sent(?)n?l/
noun
1.
a soldier or guard whose job is to stand and keep watch.
verb
1.
station a soldier or guard by (a place) to keep watch.
Their traps are not launched like Rangers, so less aggressive and more preemptive and “defensive” in nature. Sentinel also lends well to being a Guardian while also lending to range fighting. It has a perfect fit in just about every way, and while it isn’t as fancy as chronomancer, I feel it is in general more appealing than Dragon Hunter.

I rather they focus on open world content. You know like the game originally promised.
Oh my, why?
Why on earth would you want more of that?
There is open world overload.
I can’t handle any more.
Please, give us actual content. I’m begging.
Add more dungeons.
Revamp the rewards.
Give us an end game.
Please.
Dungeons:
Pull your own weight
Open world content:
Be a dead weight who won’t even use a wp when he’s dead only to scale up an event
I rather they focus on open world content. You know like the game originally promised.
They can do both.
OP im with you, i loved the dungeons in GW1 and i love the dungeons in GW2.
Over the past year, there have additions to SPvP and WvW, but nothing for dungeons. A-net revamped the SPvP rewards system, added a new SPvP map and is getting ready to add another, and added ways to customize your character in WvW with various buffs and a system of horizontal progression. But nothing has been done to improve or add to the current dungeons.
I like that SPvP and WvW have gotten a lot of attention, they are fun ways to enjoy the game, but by making them the sole focus of new content you are kind of forcing people into SPvP and WvW to enjoy the game. Dungeons have been reduced to an easy way to make a couple gold, and that’s it. Fractals are worse in a way because they are slightly harder and take more time, but with rewards that aren’t much better than normal dungeons.
I would like to not only see new, challenging, and enjoyable dungeons in HoT, but also a complete revamp of the dungeon reward system. Similar to the changes that were made to the SPvP rewards system.
I doubt there will be many bugs to find. I feel like the only things they won’t have already found with in-house testing will be related to the number of players. As many others have said, public betas are mostly just marketing stunts now.
No, i’d rather they just stick to emailing them out randomly.
It’s still random, except this time I wouldn’t be encouraged to waste my time grinding stale content.
This.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I’ll add my two cents.
I think this was a brilliant idea… that needs some tweaking. For example, perhaps they could have made the beta drop game wide instead of just DT/SW… but then they probably would have had to lower the drop rate, but at least you wouldn’t have to grind on a map you may or may not like, you’d just play however you’d play anyway.
Or perhaps they could have done some kind of repeatable event, ala vinewrath, tequatl, etc, where each time ONE person in the group who earns at least a silver or something is guaranteed a beta key, then can’t get it again.
Or something. I think this was a good start, it just needs improving somehow.
Or maybe make it drop from different resources? like other maps, PvP, WvW, Dungeons so more people have a chance to get the beta key while playing what they want.
I myself will not get a beta key because i don’t like to endlessly farm that map (also i don’t have luck).
This move by a net was one in my opinion of desperation.
They have designed hot based upon sw/Dt based upon these type of map mechanics…
Do events get a certain thing to kill and a day/night cycle (similar to sandstorm or breech event type basis). So they want people who are interested in these type of maps to test the beta and give favourable feedback on what they have done so far. (my feedback on playing the last beta was scathing as it’s honestly looking a truly grindy horror show). The idea of open world events/maps to be is horrific as there is very little control of bads to get a good outcome.
DTOP/SW were only populated as it was the fastest way for some players to get gold (chests) rather than actually be interested in the map. The RNG hooks of Coat boxs/ amber fossils have truly wore off for most people. If more gold making zones arrive these areas will die off even more !
The beta key drop was a player idea on the forum from someone who didn’t get. The email invite – RNG is a truly cruel mistress of giving anything out. Looked at it for 20 hrs in these maps and my hate for drot/silver pastes has only but increased as a result.
Do we like this method of access? No.
Does anet need favourable reviews of people who like dtop/sw as hot is based off this? Yes.
It’s a shame.
When I started GW2, I thought ‘WvW isn’t for me, I’m not going to do that!’.
Then I did some WvW because I needed to for world completion, found I actually quite enjoyed it, and now do so regularly.
But if it hadn’t been required for WvW completion, I’d never have got into it in the first place.
I demand that they remove PvE from Map completion for WvW players!!!!
Why must Trinity be brought up again and again with no sound standing? Why are people so infatuated with gear stats in a combat system based on active defense and mobility? Why is stat diversity more important than build diversity?
I’m going to copy something I wrote on this on reddit few days ago (also wrote something similar on the forums in the trinity thread in the HoT forums…).
Stats don’t change gameplay roles only augment them. I don’t know why stat diversity is important…we should focus more on build and skills diversity (have bosses which may require us to bring more CC (kind of like Mai Trin) or more mobility (like the Anomaly) etc.). This is beneficial to everyone; it is more flexible, has more gameplay impact, doesn’t require alternative gear sets and so is more accessible.
In GW2 it is possible for people to simultaneously contribute to more than one role precisely because stats don’t effect skills that much. If a dps guardian’s aegis is not worse than a tanky/healer guardian’s then the dps guardian has no incentive to even use support skills and so limiting their playstyle flexibility.
Stats should serve two purposes only. They should be kind of like training wheels; i.e. you should be able to sacrifice your own survivability for more damage. This should be your choice rather than be be mandated by content. They should also serve to augment specialized roles (but these roles should be niche and rare never required (since that destroys diversity again)).
The problems currently in GW2 combat system (stuff that harms gameplay and build diversity) are (in no order):
- Stacking: This is a mechanic and AI issue that trivializes gameplay and would be there regardless of stats.
- Conditions: In pve they don’t work because of technical reasons. This limits diversity a lot. Having working conditions in group play opens a lot of possibilities for high toughness mobs.
- Difficulty: This again is a mechanics and AI issue. PVE gets too easy too too fast and so people only use zerker gear. In the CDI for Raids the devs mentioned how they want to make content whose difficulty is based on knowledge of the team fight, then player skills, and then number of players and the gear that they have. Difficulty should be derived from mechanics of the fight not unavoidable damage.
- The mobs are slow in both movement and attack speed so much of the stuff that would be effective against other players is not very effective against them (e.g. torment, confusion, chill, cripple, retaliation.
People claim that zerker being optimal everywhere is a problem. I disagree the problem is not that it is optimal everywhere but that it is optimal in roughly the same way. The same strategies mostly work everywhere and you rarely have to significantly change your builds. This is compounded because PVE is easy now with so much practice (AI change would be a great band-aid). The standard to effective zerker play should be higher (you should be more skilled to run zerker as currently it doesn’t require that much skill and so it is very prevalent in pugs).
Fixing these problems would make GW2 combat better not breaking one of the best combat systems because people don’t understand it.
You’re mistaken, OP. All builds are usable, but only a select few builds are optimal. That goes without saying, though; no matter what you do some builds will be more useful for certain content than others, and that’s okay. You just have to decide if you want to play optimally or not, and make sure to set your expectations both for groups and for your personal speed based on that.
Charrs and humans will never be friends. Never! Never forget Ascalon!!
If in the maps there were no AFK players you’d still have the exact same issue. What if they weren’t AFK but doing something like the jumping puzzle or collecting the 30 badges/crests. Should these players be kicked as well? After all, the end result of both are exactly the same: they’re not contributing to the progression of the map toward breach/VW.
Can you seriously not see the difference between losing out to someone actually playing the game and someone alt-tabbing out to surf the web while leeching off of others?
I kick zerkers on sight. They always die every fight even when I got good heals and tank the boss.
Had a bad match around ~2pm PST on Saturday. The room was Mistpedia Tournament Arena C and even though I had a 5-man team we got abjured in less than 10 seconds and they wrecked us. The game instantly went to the next match and we got 500-0’d by them.
We Q’d up again today and got them AGAIN for ESL
nerf please.
Well, to be fair, I am a boy and I like flowers and unicorns, so it’s more a about your style and opinion
Sorry to be blunt, but it’s called “meta” because the builds that follow the meta are the result of theory-crafting and performance examinations, AKA, meta-thought about the game.
I don’t quite remember the linguistic term, but the word stands as a short-hand for the process.

it seems many like them better than the games they comment on.” -Horrorscope.7632
It would be interesting to try a “no rally” test week or two, like PPK and white swords. I bet it would really have interesting impacts at all levels of WvW. Some of the elite fight guilds might get an eye-opener…
Let’s add about 2-3 more Death Match maps, and then split the Queues into game modes, so you can choose to queue either for Death Match or Conquest modes.
That way, everyone will be happy, and I won’t have to try and set a new record in Panic respeccing everytime it shows up while I’m running a Conquest build.

Most of the time I see Courtyard it gets one or two votes, the 7 vote landslide is rare. Out of the twenty or so people I know who PvP they all hate Courtyard.
