I don’t think anyone is saying world PvE is hard. I run around with a full glass cannon build and swap back and forth between D/D and staff on a whim, and I usually don’t have any problems.
What the thread is about, and something I agree with completely, is that the Ele is fun to play and feels nice and balanced… until you see another profession show up and demonstrate just how much more powerful they are.
Once we get some of our more glaring bugs fixed, I’m not sure if we need buffs or if it’s just that the other professions need nerfs, though I lean much more towards the latter end. If they had more of a challenge, they’d stop being so boring to play.
I would be happy to fly like my priory companion. I’m easy to please, though.
I wish they would have either charges or a time limit, but not both. Personally, I would rather have the charges, because they’re easy to understand and tolerate. What’s most annoying to me is when I have a handful of charges that get wasted because the weapon arbitrarily times out.
It is definitely painful to do as an asura. With all the quick, precise jumping required for the tower, it’s just a chore to do when there’s a norn or charr around.
I just now had the same experience. Gerrvid is not in his starting place – he’s inside already with the fleshreaver, the event has already started, and there is no way to damage it even after lighting all the braziers.
I’ve been stuck for weeks unable to do CoE story :/ I’ve even had a few times where I’ll join in the event to open it up, only to have all the others there leave for exploration, adding insult to injury.
how does the Thief 2 Hit KO with backstab + stealth + steal?

For comparison: whirlpool has a 4x longer cooldown (180 seconds), takes longer to cast than this combo takes to execute, deals the damage over a much longer period, self-cripples the ele and locks out other skills, only works underwater, and it does not have the benefit of opening while stealthed.
It took a 33% damage nerf.
I’m still not seeing a good argument why thieves should escape the nerf bat.
I can’t speak for either the water or air elementals, since I rarely ever use them, but the earth elemental is a pretty good tank, and the fire elemental does decent damage.
The fiery greatsword is a pretty good conjure if you can get around what I see is the large usability failure of the thing – you should drop target when using it, particularly when fighting crowds. AC4 when targeting something is less than worthless – it does pathetic damage and likely will get you killed, because it just sprints to your target and does a jump attack. AC4 when you have no target is actually pretty good – it will usually leave you out of the line of fire and the fire trail you leave can do some sick damage, particularly when you know what you’re doing (hint: fire trail damage stacks).
If you are fighting large mobs (e.g. orr events), your fiery greatsword should net you far greater DPS than your normal attacks will (and you’ll make a small fortune tagging them for loot).
You’ll want to save your final evaluation until you get higher level and run into a mix of enemies which are ranged and/or run exceptionally fast so that kiting is futile.
I hate our downed state as much as anyone else, but to be clear – everyone realizes that dodges work in mist state, correct? You can actually get quite a bit farther away with two dodges in mist form than you may realize.
When I get in the mood to finish out a map, I often times find myself searching for that one elusive POI I invariably missed.
Sometimes, however, the boundaries between zones are not immediately apparent, particularly if you have mostly completed the maps surrounding the one you are currently working on. I can sometimes spend a bunch of extra time focusing on an area that is just outside the zone because it isn’t obvious from the map which is which.
A simple visual border of some kind to outline where each zone lies would be useful in this regard.
My experience so far as an Asura elementalist:
Tornado is terrible
Greater elemental is decent when soloing
In groups, (and sometimes solo!) it’s fiery greatsword or you’re doing it wrong
If you know how to fully utilize the greatsword skills, you can do some pretty sick things and put out some tremendous area damage. Just as an example, in Twilight Arbor story mode, you can single-handedly keep the second boss room clear of all the spiders with a fiery greatsword, eliminating the need for any silly kiting. If you do it right, it doesn’t significantly impact the damage you do on the boss.
For those of you who hate the elementalist elites: it could be worse. You could be an Asura, too. Every single Asuran elite skill is worse than all of the elementalist elites. They’re good for grins when you first get them, until you realize that the suit doesn’t do much for you and both golems are lower damage/hp/utility, shorter duration, and longer CD than greater elemental.
