Bauble Checklist for W2 Z3 (Storm Top)
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Did anyone try blind whipping through that gatekeeper and walls just hoping they’d snag a bauble that may or may not be in range or existance on the other side?
Yh i tried all i could think of to get it open. Using the glove and jumping at the same time, looking away from the gate and using the glove, played all the whistle songs, threw bombs and used the slingshot, tried to use a key on it and tried to use the whip blindly. None lead to any results
Have…you tried the torch, or the elite thing? Just wondering if it’s something weird/insane like that.
Yup, tried the Elite, and every single other skill, as well as a key, on that door. Taken small steps while using the whip, then repeating the process while jumping, then repeating the process while standing “glitched” on the tiny tiny lip that you for some reason can stand on. Tried doing it in reverse, as in my back turned to it, reaching for straws, hoping the game would think I’m inside, and what not. There doesn’t seem to be any reasonable way to get behind that door.
You can use the invisible teleport inside the Gatekeeper following the next checkpoint, then hop over to the snowy platform towards the path you just came from, a huge cloud is blocking you and there’s also otherwise invisible walls around there. So it would seem it requires you to access it before we reach it, somehow. Starting to think it’s simply a erroneous re-used asset, that there was never any way to reach it, nor to open it. That or the path to get to it has in some way or form been bugged. I’ve also tried bombing every single wall and floor inside the maze leading to the ice shattering song, tried standing in every part of the floors there, tried playing every song, nothing. Oh, and of course tried to use the ice shattering song on the entire ice rink where the Bananas you got to kill before the doorway opens to the ice shattering song location. And I mean take 2-3 steps, play song 3-4 times, repeat, the entire ice rink.. that took a while. Nothing. Tried killing every enemy (but the last boss) then backtracking to see if anything had opened, nothing.
It’s just getting frustrating.

Bugged Master of Baubles, World 2 Achievement

Did we break Josh Foreman?
I’m thinking this is bugged, surely I’d have seen at least one Storm Wizards backpack by now otherwise?
I have a Storm Wizards Backpack skin, that’s easy enough to obtain without needing the Master of Baubles, World 2 achievement, which happens to be the only achievement I’m missing for this new SAB installment. I’m just not using the backpack myself, because I don’t find the pixel-holographic-backpack to suit my armors otherwise. Could be the case for most people I guess.
Also, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to get this achievement as well though, considering I’ve gotten every single temporary achievement so far in the game.

Only place I can think of is the Gatekeeper wall to the right of the third chest. But I sure can’t find a way inside that place. When I finally found a way, further ahead in the zone, to get high enough and on that side of the map, I only found myself to be greeted with an invisible wall preventing me from even getting anywhere near that location.

I raged so hard at the checkpoint before those pole jumps. The fact that it spawns you inside the trap behind the checkpoint, so that you continue to die over and over should have been patched the first day it was reported. (You can walk off it if you’re quick enough granted, but if you say use a Continue Coin, as you spawn back, you will spawn losing a life instantly.)
Insult to injury indeed, the next cloud checkpoint after the semi-challenging pole jumps, does not even work. Again, another thing that should have been patched right away, either through patching the cloud out if it wasn’t supposed to be there, or actually making it work as a checkpoint.
It’s somewhat amazing that these two glaring issues weren’t pointed out by whoever it was that tested SAB before release.

Really hope one of the developers can pipe in on this one soon. The response to other topics while questions such as this one seems completely ignored, is getting a tad annoying. At least let us know if it is bugged or not, let us know if you are looking into it. You don’t have to reveal anything in terms of tips on where to look (although they’d be appreciated), but at least re-assure us if we are in fact missing baubles and that we aren’t just all wasting our time because of a bug issue.
Totals: 41 blue baubles, 1 green bauble, 13 yellow baubles, 2 red baubles and 6 purple baubles.
If they match up, then it’s likely a bug, if not, great there’s more, so just tell us we’re missing some. I’m fine with a developer not giving us the slightest hint as to what areas to look around in, as long as I know it’s not bugged. But please, do make sure the area they’re stashed in, is actually reachable without, e.g., GM fly-mode and no-clip
It’s getting really frustrating to be “pixel-hunting” all over the place for invisible teleporters and ledges that may or may not have been spotted. Not even sure if the invisible teleporter we do know about is a bugged one or not. Seems a bit harsh to expect us to locate invisible stuff all over the place, especially since it’s not like the map is that tiny, and we’re talking about 3D space here, not 2D. One achievement to go..
There’s one secret room that we know about, but have found no way into. That’s the Gatekeeper wall on the right of the third chest in the zone. We can play the Gatekeeper’s Lullaby to open the opposite wall on the left, but doing so for the wall on the right, which has a clearly visible white emblem floating inside it’s mouth, does not work. This either means it is bugged, a mistake when re-using assets (that it was never supposed to show as being possible to open), or perhaps that it is supposed to be opened from the other side using the Glove. But then again, there seemingly is no way to reach the other side of it. Further along in the zone, there’s invisible walls when trying to backtrack on the outside, and going the other way, backwards in the zone, there’s nothing that seems to lead outside in that direction.
Please Vince, or someone else on the team, at least tell us if it is a bug or not, let us know if you are looking into it. There’s been a few bugs with this SAB release so far (some still active, like the Gatekeeper wall to the left right after checkpoint #6 (with the invisible teleporter) having an invisible wall after being opened once every so often, not allowing you to enter before you run far enough away from it and return a couple times), it’s not entirely out of the question that this is another one, is it?

Could it be a issue if the owls steal our baubles? I don’t think I’ve gotten through zone 3, without a owl stealing a bauble from me at some point or another. I, as well as seemingly everyone else, have had issues with getting the Master of Baubles, World 2 achievement though, and I do believe the community have located every single bauble, though there is one “secret door” we can’t seem to find a way to open/get to.
If you still pop by here, Vince, could you take a look at the following topic as well? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/sab-bts/Bauble-Checklist-for-W2-Z3-INCOMPLETE/first
Totals for baubles found: 41 blue-, 1 green-, 13 yellow-, 2 red- and 6 purple baubles. The only secret location we know about that we can’t find a way into is right by the third chest of the zone, where you can open the Gatekeeper wall on the left with the Gatekeeper’s Lullaby, but there’s another wall on the right, opposite of this, which shows a white glowing emblem inside, but that won’t open with the song. I get a feeling that Gatekeeper wall should either not be there, or there’s a issue with the path to it, as I can’t find a single way to reach the other side of it, or to open it from that side.
There’s also a invisible teleporter if you open the Gatekeeper wall after Checkpoint #6, which seems a bit odd. Is it really supposed to be invisible? Are there more invisible teleporters? Are we “pixel-hunting” for invisible things now?

Same, I feel this specific achievement requires a developer to actually give us some feedback. They don’t have to say exactly where we’re missing something, though a hint would of course be appreciated, but at least let us know if 41 blue- (42 if you count the distillery one), 1 green-, 13 yellow-, 2 red- and 6 purple baubles are all of them or not. It’s getting really frustrating and annoying, to try over and over, without any confirmation if it’s bugged or not.
Several of us have spent hours upon hours looking for weird out of reach places. I’ve even fallen below the map at points, where I had to get killed by a bunny in order to reach a checkpoint again. They also seem to have re-used a lot of assets and not rotated them “correctly”, since there are some places I have found my way into—far, far down on the map, where I found holes in the sides of the walls, though they’ve been completely empty (and impossible to get out of without a bunny-death as well). So holes up high on some walls that I’ve previously considered as a potential solution, are likely just that, re-used assets and nothing more than that.

Oh, and in case someone thinks it may be related to hitting the Continue screen, on the Normal run, I made sure to never run out of lives. Just to rule that out as well. I did still buy a few keys to save myself time though, so I haven’t tried exclusively opening the chests with the keys that drop. I’d find it extremely weird if that was a requirement anyways.
Edit: Also in regards to the suggestion above about everyone with the issue sending in a report, please don’t. Although I don’t work for ArenaNet, I do work in support for a different company, and if there’s one thing we somewhat dislike, it’s to get tens-hundreds of tickets regarding the same exact issue, because it actually slows us down in resolving issues/bugs with the need to reply to everyone’s individual inquiry. If one person report it and links to this topic, that should be enough, just write in here that you experience the issue.

Getting a feeling that Master of Baubles, World 2 is bugged. If a developer can at least give us a direct answer if it is or isn’t, that’d be appreciated, a bit tired of running inside that zone for over 12 hours straight at a time, looking for paths to places that doesn’t seem to exist. I’ve spent well over 36 hours just running around looking for ways to open a door I know about (third chest), or paths that I may have missed.
Totals: 41 blue baubles, 1 green bauble, 13 yellow baubles, 2 red baubles, 6 purple baubles. If those totals don’t match up with the requirements, it should be as simple as to say we don’t have them all. If they match the totals, then it clearly is bugged. You could even say there’s 42 blue baubles mind you, if you count the one you can get by interacting with the distillery at the start of the zone. Though that wasn’t a requirement in the previous zones, so I somewhat doubt it should be this time around.
There’s one location that it seems nobody has found a way to reach, which is right at the third chest, the door on the left can be opened to return down to the spike floor room, opposite of where you go to get the ice shattering song, the one on the right, while it does have a white emblem floating inside it, meaning it should be possible to open, does not open with the Gatekeeper’s Lullaby, so it probably means it needs to be pushed open from the other side, though there’s seemingly no way to reach that place.

there is a yellow bauble in that secret area where you drop to the torch shop, when u get that blowable wall down.
That one’s covered already, as is the yellow bauble if you drop down to the bottom of the area. So it has to be some other bauble(s) somewhere.

Oh, not the maze, I mean the one past the maze, right before the drop to the uphill climb. Left side opens, but right sides does not.
Whatever baubles we’re missing, has to be related to this secret door that we can’t open with the Gatekeeper’s Lullaby song. I would imagine it has to be another way to reach it, and that it require us to open it using the Glove instead, like some other doors.
I too had written down a little guide for all the secrets and baubles I found, which I’ve attached below for those interested in cross-referencing. Note that it’s not getting any more totals than the one provided in this topic though, and from cross-referencing them both, we also visit the same secret areas, though take slightly different paths.
The only thing nobody seem to be able to do, is to open that door up by the third chest. I can’t for the life of me figure out how I would get up there. I did spot something “interesting” when hopping out of the other door that we can open though, if you look far above, there’s actually a opening up there, making me wonder if we can’t somehow get on top of the mountain-part there to climb up to it and hop in.
I honestly wish a dev would share some light on this zone’s baubles, since if it’s bugged, at least they could let us know. If it isn’t, perhaps they could give us a very, very cryptic hint that may push us in the right direction? You’d imagine a way to get behind that door would’ve been found by now though, right?

There’s another secret in that place where the last two Bananas were. Behind the pillar you can climb up to reach a cloud, there’s an oddly colored wall that can be bombed. Entering it sends you plummeting down to the Torch Shop.
If I recall correctly, if you make sure that you push forwards a bit as you load into the drop downwards, you can land on a pillar close to the top of the drop. By hopping around from this to the edges of the area up there, I am pretty sure you can bomb open a hole into another secret area (that can be reached otherwise as well), which counted as a secret.
In this area is also a hidden away teleport, down at the bottom somewhere, that will take you past the teleport of no return at the top of the mountain (to the area of the first light-toggle-switch puzzle). There should also be a bauble in there, but you may have that covered already in your work in progress guide, I didn’t read through it all yet.
Seafarer’s Rest
I know for a fact that it is possible to backtrack the entire level, though I haven’t ever done that before getting past the Assassin mini-boss which rewards you with the Glove.
I do think it should be possible to backtrack though, even if you haven’t killed the Assassin yet. In order to obtain every bauble, you pretty much are required to backtrack the level at some point, in order to get the baubles from where the shortcut eagle drops you off.
I find the design of World 2 – Zone 3 to be terrible compared to Zone 2. There are several points of no return there, when you go for all the secrets and baubles, which forces you to take a leap to your death in order to checkpoint. That’s just terrible design. If you get to the third and fourth chest, and lose a key, you’re completely unable to open them, as there are no other shops but one that is past a point of no return for that part of the map. I wish I could backtrack Zone 3 as well as I can for Zone 2.

I don’t remember seeing this one on your list. It may be the one you’re missing since there’s only ONE way to get it and it’s not listed specifically.
Here’s a imgur-album giving slightly more details on how to reach that bauble (in Infantile mode): http://imgur.com/a/AY0D3
Note that there are several ways of reaching the path to it, in Infantile it is very easy, and is what I have taken screenshots of to show. You can also hop up on the ledge to the left, then dodge-jump over to the lip that leads up to the bauble, or you can even drop down from far above, as you get to the top of the mountain.

Please keep in mind that you have already cleared it. With the changes or not, you already know where a lot of the bad spots are, what to look for and so on forth.
E.g., it took me some hours to clear all zones of World 1 in Tribulation mode. The very next day I did them all in about 40 minutes. Once you know where these troll-traps are, it’s not much different from a regular SAB run, you’re just more restricted in your movement and have a pre-determined path to take, that the developers have set for you.
Tribulation mode was never all too hard, it was a trial and error. Some parts have been made easier, ok, but does that hurt me in any way? Not really.

I found that starting to play a note before I even started jumping over the clouds, and then continuing to tap that note whilst jumping, helped me out. That prevents the whistle from needing to “warm up” when you get to the door-wall. There’s also 3 clouds there at the end, so if you aim correctly and don’t step on them all at once, you can stand on one cloud as you play, hop over to the other to trigger that one into dissolving, and hopefully be able to jump in, or at the very least be able to open the wall up before the clouds all disappear.
You can play the song very fast I might add, and I didn’t seem to need any sort of delay between each note, so just a quick tap on the 3, 3, 2, 3, 3, 1 keys.

I used the bounce I got from the mushroom to fly over them on the right side, landing on the mountainside, just before the required jump towards the entrance of the Elite skill “shop”.

After a lot of hopping around to my death last night, I finally found the last upgrade I was missing from World 2. It was the Moto's Finger upgrade, which can be found in World 2 – Zone 3. Didn’t see any topics about it available, so I figured I’d share.
I took and edited a series of screenshots that hopefully helps detail how to get to the location of this item. I’ve uploaded the images to a imgur-album here: http://imgur.com/a/ISnXj
You will need the Wooden Whistle, and the Gatekeepers Lullaby song (from World 2 – Zone 2, bombing the ground near the Raccoon Kingpin—There should be topics on this one already). For the sake of saving time, you can do this on Infantile mode.
Seafarer’s Rest
What is “bugging it out” is the Hillbilly friends near the annoying waterfall with the logs you have to cross over, near the end of the zone. You can do the achievement in Infantile mode however, which will make it more or less impossible to die at that point and trigger Jim-Bob and Billy.
Instead of what you have probably been doing, taking the invisibility upgrade in the barrel (seems that still triggers a flag that you disturbed them), go between the shop and the tree near the door, you can jump up on the rocky ledge there, then go around the back and over to the checkpoint, burn the trees, pass the bear, continue through to the end and get your achievement.
Seafarer’s Rest
As spoiler free as I can get it:
- In Rata Sum, go to the Research Waypoint (bottom floor, left side of the map).
- From where you spawn, turn southwards and take 35 steps in that direction.
- Turn eastwards, take 25 steps in that direction.
- Look to your left, there should be a opening into another room.
- Go inside said room.
Oh, and there’s a Living Story icon there too. I’ll take a guess you can figure the rest out. Password is a pretty famous cheat code. Also known as the Konami code, Contra code, etc.
Seafarer’s Rest
It’s something you can use to aid you in finding secret areas when exploring. Just run around playing 1, 2, 3 and if you see a Moto head, throw/drop a bomb at it.
Seafarer’s Rest
Got the Nunchaku, Torch upgrade, Potion upgrade, Whistle, Shovel upgrade, Glove, Heart, Wallet upgrade. That’s 8, but it does say I have 9/10. Really not sure where I got the 9th upgrade. I’ve also gotten the first song at the cabin you buy the whistle at (World 2 – Zone 1: 1, 2, 3) and the one in the caves by the Raccoon Kingpin (World 2 – Zone 2: 3, 3, 2, 3, 3, 1). Not sure if these in some way or form have counted or if I forget a upgrade I got at some point.
There’s also that container thing, that sure looks like an upgrade, that KaitoAkuma posted some screenshots of above, but also unable to figure out a way to open that blocked opening. Perhaps it could be related to the third song, not sure. I tried to Push the toad behind it in hopes that it would suck me through the wall, but it always resets before I get it that far, so I guess it’s not how you’re intended to do that. Tried to use all available items on it as well. Also tried bombing every single panel of wall in there, the roof above it, the wall panels outside. Tried to whip it through the wall(s). Looked for secrets as far down as it’s possible to go below it. Just a big fat “Nope!” to that, no idea on how to get to it.
The symbol makes me think it’s related to the glove, though it’s more like a clenched fist with a arrow pointing downwards, not really sure what that’s about either. I guess it could be something we can’t get before a later World comes out with a Glove upgrade.

Tribulation Honeycomb W1Z3 - Need help!
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Absconditus.6804
Almost starting to think the whole thing is bugged. The entire flooring of the maze itself is a death trap. A slight edge within it is not, but jumping there is pretty much impossible and from what I can tell by putting my camera into the trap, even if we were to get to that point, there’s no way to progress further from there.
The spike trap being upside down is also weird, as someone’s pointed out. I can’t figure out any other way of getting on top of the maze without the cannon, and that is of course blocked off. Tried using the two songs I’ve found for the whistle there as well. 1,2,3 is to reveal secrets, nothing showing up. 3,3,2,3,3,1 is to open walls and such, but again, didn’t seem to open anything.
If it isn’t bugged, I sure hope a developer can at least confirm that so we can keep looking. Making us look for nothing because it’s bugged is something that should be a no-no. That’s just frustrating.
I’d also like a developer to confirm that there are indeed 11 shops, because without the freebie torch shop in zone 2, I don’t see how we could hit more than 10, and that freebie shop didn’t count. (Neither do the room below the flooring near the end of the zone either.)
Seafarer’s Rest
I’ve gotten 2 in Zone 1, 2 in Zone 2 (freebie torch one didn’t count, moved all over inside (avoiding the trap in the ceiling by going on the left of the counter)) and 6 in Zone 3 (hidden one under the rug and Elite skill room counts). Total 10.
Currenty going back to Zone 2, to see if they count the hidden room that you had to go “under the map” for as a shop (right before checkpoint leading up to the boss-cage), if it’s even reachable in Tribulation mode that is. It had a bed and other furniture, but I wouldn’t have called it a shop. Who knows, going to check.
Edit: Nope, got in there, but was killed off, so isn’t that either. Guessing they’ve messed up the freebie torch shop trigger or something. With that it is 11.

I really don’t see what would be the big deal about players being able to earn it again now. I got a couple extras (the tradable kind) in my Bank, and also grinded my way to get one for sPvP and another PvE/WvW as well. It wouldn’t bother me the slightest if newer players were able to earn something I earned a long(er) time ago. Why in the world would that bother you?
It’d be healthier for the game as a whole if there’s more aethetic options to choose from. Something to please almost everyone. Removing the ability to obtain the skins again was a silly decision from ArenaNet’s part in the first place, just like the whole idea behind this initial batch of Living Story deployments has been. Temporary content that just gets ripped out again does not expand upon the game.
We’ve had a small expansions worth of content that new players can’t even play. I find that annoying, even if I personally have been present for all of them.

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Found this one fairly fast when I got to that point in Tribulation mode and spotted the cannon.
I was able to push it just fine in Tribulation Zone 3 and also in Normal Zone 3, but in Tribulation the block you push to get further inside gets blocked off by a No-no cloud.
In normal mode you’re allowed access up to the cannon though. Couldn’t find anything specific in the area leading to the cannon, just some rocky formations to jump up. By jumping (note that you can’t just walk into the cannon) you get shot over to the opposite side where you may or may not land inside the flower-platform that gobbles on you. From there you can jump up on the branch of the tree and follow it up top, then to your right is a large area filled with acidic water. I tried running through the acidic water, but couldn’t find anything of interest in there either, at the end there was simply a acidic small waterfall and nowhere else to go.
Interestingly enough you can however jump around on the outside of the wall to get over to the Queen Bee maze, an area that seemed impossible to get through without finding a way on top of the maze itself, as it seems the entire flooring below the actual maze is just a lava trap. This lead me to believe that this was the only way to reach the third and final honey comb for the achievement, but with the cloud blocking my access to the cannon, I couldn’t really get anywhere in Tribulation mode.
I have read someone mention they found a Guardian Lullaby song for the Whistle though, so perhaps that’s related to it, maybe making the cloud go away or something.
However, today when I tried to show my friend the little secret area, neither of us were able to push the block anymore, so I ain’t sure if it intentionally was patched out, or if that is perhaps a side effect of a later patch. It worked fine a few hours after the patch was deployed yesterday at least.
Seafarer’s Rest
Not sure if any of the shops leading up to that point sells a torch. There is a torch upgrade coming up in Zone 3, but yeah, that’s beyond that point. Note that you must get this upgraded torch in order to continue in Zone 3 as well, and I believe it cost me 300-400 Bubbles, keep that in mind when you go for that zone, so that you have the Bubbles required. If you haven’t purchased it, the wallet upgrade in World 1 is worth grabbing so you can carry 500 Bubbles.
Seafarer’s Rest
Somewhat stumped on this one as well. To my best knowledge, there’s 2 shops in Zone 1, 2 in Zone 2 (freebie torch one, which would make it 3, didn’t seem to ever register as a shop when I entered and walked around in it, avoiding the roof trap in there) and 4-5 in Zone 3 (uncertain if the spot for the Elite skill counts or not). That’s a total of 8-9 shops. So.. yeah.
Perhaps they redesigned the world and added more shops to it, not sure. Would be nice if one of the devs could actually share some insight on that. Not necessarily where these shops would be, but at least if there’s new ones added.

Torch ‘em. You need the Torch from World 1 – Zone 2 (and it’s free as well).

You’re missing your ‘R’ item, which is a instrument that allows you to play notes by pressing 1, 2 or 3. I’d assume you play the melody and something happens.
Edit: Tried this out today, playing the 3,3,2,3,3,1 melody opens up the door on the side there and has a 50 Bauble inside. The directions he talks about seems to be a solution to the teleporter puzzle that’s coming a little bit after this area.

I am at 31/32 Feats, so missing 2 in total, but I am pretty positive I have not missed a single one in any of the zones for World 2, unless there’s some that triggers in secret areas or something, which seems a bit odd. My friend is at the exact same count as me.
It is a slight bit annoying when you’ve done the 3 zones several times to see if you missed a specific point that the path is asking you to take.
Seafarer’s Rest
Also concerned about this as I transmuted two of my Legendary weapons already, with Sunrise being the only one I didn’t touch, just in case I wanted to make a Eternity at some point.
While it won’t be the end of the world for me, if my Rodgort and Bolt don’t get reset to their Legendary status, I do think it’s a bit of a slap in the face, when the only reason I transmuted in the first place was from thinking that even if they wouldn’t be upgraded automatically as Ascended weapons were introduced, worst case I would simply need to collect the Ascended stats I wanted and transmute it again, as I didn’t really want Soldier stats on my weapon(s). This new way of handling the stats on the legendaries however, are something I would simply never have imagined ArenaNet to do. And it’s awesome, so thumbs up on that ArenaNet.
Hopefully this patch makes a pass through the database, looks for the Legendary skin/ID, the Transmuted status, and revert it back to Legendary.
Edit: Seems a moderator didn’t think this belongs in the topic dedicated to the Living Story patch, even though the release page is mentioning this change being implemented.

One of my goals since the launch of the game has been to collect every miniature. I’ve done what others would consider stupid, like spending 50€ on Gems, just for their seriously annoying Wintersday RNG boxes, in order to not have a broken collection. Something I honestly wouldn’t do again granted, nor will I touch anything else they put in the Gem Store that’s RNG and a chance-based cash-milking machine, but I did it that time around, unhappily so.
Sure, there are some Special miniatures that I do not have from the Karka event as well, but all of those are obtainable through the Trading Post, so I don’t consider my collection to be broken and impossible to complete because of these. I’ll just have to spend a little extra Gold in order to get them down the line.
Now they’ve gone ahead and done this however, and my collection is seemingly going to be broken, unless they make it available to everyone through other means as well (Gem Store?). What is my incentive to keep collecting if they don’t make it available though? Where’s my incentive to keep supporting the game with real money spent on Gems in order to buy these miniatures? My collection’s broken, and what collector would want a broken collection? There’s always going to be a visible hole in the Collectibles tab when viewing them in the Bank.
I see doing things like this, being somewhat like shooting yourself in the foot.. on purpose. Pretty darn stupid in other words. For all I know, they may of course have a proper way for everyone that seriously collects, to obtain this miniature, but I somewhat get a feeling they don’t even consider what they are doing at times, before they’ve done it and the damage is done (like killing Seafarer Rest’s WvW community with making free transfers to Medium populated servers available, while SFR was a Medium populated server, in Tier 1 and on a win-streak). I sure won’t spend more money on the game for miniatures, when I can’t have a complete collection. But then again, that’s their loss, not mine. I save money, money they don’t get from me (and probably other collectors as well).
I do understand that it is nice to be able to have something within the game that you can flaunt and show as a “I was there” thing. But I think it’d be a far better idea to give them some town clothes (again), even though that would also make people unhappy, like with the white GW2 t-shirt town clothes. To be honest, I think it’d be better to just give them real life goods to enjoy, over virtual stuff like this where you just end up creating a lot of dissatisfaction.

PS. as for the poor camera view people are complaining about, it’s fine imo. It’s just part of the mechanic/challenge. It doesn’t stop you from defeating Liadri.
Please, I beg of you, spare a token to do the fight again (optionally without turning Post Processing off, as doing that is in ways cheating). Now, before you go at it, in the Options, tick that little box next to the phrase: “Disable Area of Effect Rings”. Now you have the full experience of the arena, as someone who is color weak/blind. Is the camera just fine now?
No, but I do agree though, it does not stop you from defeating Liadri, but it sure doesn’t help when you can’t see any red rings due to a “disability” with colors, combined with what I consider to be a terrible arena design. Aesthetically they do look rather nice though, I’ll have to say the whole zone is something I find to be absolutely beautiful, but aesthetics shouldn’t always trumph function, and the arenas are not designed around function.
Seafarer’s Rest
Wish Super Adventure Box was here permanently. Wish the Queen’s Gauntlet was added permanently. Wish they both had leaderboards split by professions for various tasks you can do in either.
For SAB it wouldn’t need to be split by profession of course, and for the most part it’d be speedruns I guess, as don’t really see what else one could track and create some friendly competition around.
But for the Gauntlets, they could do tons of leaderboard categories. Fastest clears for each of the bosses, most meats denied to Chomper, most orbs thrown at Liadri, longest survivor (if they removed the timers anyways), and a lot of other things. I’m happy to keep playing something over and over if it has leaderboards. It’s fun to duke it out with your friends about who is the best at this and that.
Add a few new encounters for the QG every so often, and you have a little game within the game that people can do at their leisure. Flesh out and complete all zones for SAB, and we have some oldschool gaming fun that can be done when wanted, not just for a short period of time where you all too quickly burn yourself out on it, knowing it’s there for just a little while.
Some will burn out and it may lose its charm after a while, but that’s the case with all games. GW2 is no different, at some point, every single one of us playing this game, as much as we may love it right now (or not), will burn out and find the game has lost its charm on us. Does that mean we quit for good? Nope, probably not, but no constant rotation of things are going to change that fact; All games gets “boring” in the long run, you do take breaks, only to come back and enjoy it again for a period of time. Making stuff available for a limited time won’t change that, adding new content every two weeks won’t change that.
Some of us will fight the urge to take a break, others will just take a break. We all go through it though.
Seafarer’s Rest
Meh, as long as I get the mirror-fight from GW1, as one of the Watchknights assume my form and I have to fight myself, I’m happy enough. Will probably happen as well. Let’s just say I wouldn’t be surprised if someone we stood next to, as the Suspicious Character was toying around with people, was a Watchknight as well.
Seafarer’s Rest
There are two random factors in the fight. The Gravity Rifts pulling you, which will change positions between fights, even in the same arena. And the blinding effect that you can “cheat” around and turn off through disabling Post Processing, which most people who beats her and say there’s no RNG to the fight have done, that much is obvious. I agree that the fight is not overly complicated once you learn your patterns though. But some luck will likely be involved in the runs where you do win (Gravity Rifts popping where you quickly kill them, and the blind effect occuring while you are in a safe spot (unless you “cheat” and turn it off of course)).
The arena however, is quite frankly and in my opinion undeniably terribly designed. The camera does get cramped, and I noticed it being far easier to get my bearings with a tiny Asura, since at least the camera rather zoomed in towards the top of her head, unlike when it was staring at my buttox while I was on my tallest possible Norn, smallest possible Charr or tallest possible Human in example. That makes a difference, and it shouldn’t have been designed in this way when they are fully aware of their own camera limitations.
The flooring is even worse, but this comes mainly from the perspective of being color weak and/or blind—I am the former, color weak. I was completely unable to see any red circles at all during these fights. Were you? With the camera issues, combining with the inability to even see a red circle, it became a lot of trial and error until I had my own perfect movement from point A, to point B, to point C, to point D, etc.—perhaps you would have been rather irked off as well, if they had for this encounter completely disabled red circles? If I recall correctly, they can be turned off in the options as well, so why don’t you devote one token to doing the fight while they’re disabled to get that perspective of things? Do you think it is as easy now? Or is this making it more annoying? Poor game design != challenge, poor game design == poor game design.
I was able to overcome it, but that doesn’t mean the encounter is perfectly fine. As for not being as random as some people may think, yes I agree on this, but saying nothing is random, that’s not true.
Seafarer’s Rest
I agree with her difficulty i’m not the QQ more player but I’ve not kill her yet.
I’m arounf 200+ try and the only thing that make me suffer is AoE, just to know i’m colorblind and evading her AoE is not really easy. I’m not asking for a nerf, but at least a way to see that skill better cause i’m stucked on seeing where the AoE pops and most of the time for turning up the camera i die on the shadows xV. Any advice would be appreciated.
Best advice I can give is to make sure you use the same arena every time, and that you get a complete pattern for yourself going from phase 1 to phase 2 until she dies. I am color weak, not completely blind and I can see the red in the top left of this forum just as most other players without “disabilities” can, but I have trouble with, e.g., seeing red hues within red, red in green and so on forth. For the gauntlets, the floors are literally making every single red circle invisible to me, so I share your pain when it comes to this. I was able to overcome it by giving myself a pattern of movement and tasks (like picking up the orb, then throwing it at specific locations, before moving to that location, and so on forth—using the light fields mainly to help me orientate).
For everyone out there that struggle, I do believe in the fact that anyone can do this. You can do this. What matters is that you don’t let it get to you too much. You need to try keep your boiling blood under control and stay calm. Try to get a “zen”-like attitude towards it. Being calm and collected will help you so much when it comes to going at it over and over. Try to distract your brain a bit with some music as well, because when you don’t overthink it, you’re likely to play better as you’re just going through the motions.
There’s plenty of time to achieve your goal, but I do understand the frustration and anger you may feel towards the game right now. I felt the exact same way, and still find it stupid that they put these (actually quite awesome, if not for the arena design annoyances) hard challenges in temporary (though returning in some way or form) content. Not because I don’t necessarily deep down think I can do it, and not because that I think I’m great or anything, I’m not. I just know I’m dedicated and I have a lot of spare time on my hands (working from home). What I hate is that it does exclude a pretty large % of the playerbase. Those that may need a little more time to achieve something, and that doesn’t have the same time on their hands like I do. I never feel like I need to prove myself to others by rubbing it in that I have done something they struggle with. If I wanted to be that special snowflake, I’d try to achieve something in real life where it actually matters. At least in real life it can get you laid.

It’s doable to beat her with the effect happening, once you’ve learned your patterns. Killed her with every setting set to lowest and also with everything turned back up to High when showing people how I go about doing it, trying to help them.
I think it triggers randomly, haven’t been able to really point at something specific, as I have had it happen when nothing’s touched me and at random times, it never seem to follow a pattern, as with the Gravity Rifts. I think it’s a lame artificial challenge that makes you blinded and unaware of your sorroundings, so taking it off is just fair. The inclusion of it was just making things a bit over the top at any rate, at least while you’re still learning. It’s like the designer sat down thinking, “How can I make this even more challenging— I know it’s challenging already, but it needs to have that extra little jerk-move to make it stupid hard. I want people to rage!”
If it devalues the achievements, I don’t know. I never got happy beating her the first time around, knowing I still needed Light Up the Darkness, and it feeling borderline impossible still. And when I got Light Up the Darkness, I had been burnt out from doing this over and over and over and over and over and over and over.. so it just felt like a sloppy “hooray.. so happy… meh.”

how does not getting a miniature make your whole miniature collection useless?
In my case, not having a miniature at some point, and not being able to get it through other means (e.g., Trading Post), ruins my collection. My collection is broken as there is always going to be a hole in that collection where a mini should be placed, that I am completely unable to obtain anymore.
This is why I find the binding of miniatures, a collectible, to be absolutely ridiculous. It’s almost like buying a expensive stamp/coin in real life, but not being able to sell/trade it at a later point in time, because it is bound to you through some sort of crazy magic. The only minis that I agree with being bound, is the ones you earned from Hall of Monuments in GW1 (which you can still play and unlock), and the CE Rytlock (which you can also still get through upgrading the account in the Gem Store), anything else should seriously just be unbound and possible to trade. I miss a few miniatures in example, the Karka event ones. I didn’t have any sort of luck in that event, and never got my hands on them, but I know I can still find them sold at some point (although at a high price), so my collection is not broken.
If my collection do however get broken through no longer being able to obtain a specific miniature, that’s definitely less money ArenaNet will be seeing from me, when they put some new ones in their Gem Store for future updates. I have no interest in collecting a collectible when the collection is broken. It might be something they should consider before making so many of them bound to players.

On topic; again, yes.. I agree they can nerf Liadri a slight bit, but ultimately, fixing the arena to not be such a camera-block and the flooring to not completely hide the red circles for those with color weakness/blindness would go a long way as well. I have finished all achievements, but still think it’s unnecessary to have such hard to achieve achievements, in temporary content. I believe in allowing everyone, hardcore and casuals, to have as many goes as they want at something which is hard to accomplish and for such things to not be put into temporarily available content. Those who grasp the encounters faster, will get their reward faster, get to be “special” for a while. Over time, sure, others that may be a bit slower at completing the content will also join the ranks of having done these things, but there should always be new challenges that can be done to make you that special snowflake you may or may not wish to be.
Keep the hard challenges for permanent additions, give us easier to complete stuff for temporary. Not because I don’t think I can usually manage to get by and complete these things (although I questioned myself a bit when facing Liadri and the 8 orb challenge.. not being able to see red circles at all because of my color weakness), but knowing others have potentially more troubles than I do with these things, having different professions (I got all leveled and geared, I can switch to any) and what not. I also think temporary events should be doable by someone that just started playing a couple days into the event. They should be fun enough for me to want to do more of them, without there being a reward carrot like a achievement forcing me to do them. The hard content with limited time is making me frustrated, and I am not having fun. I didn’t even shriek for joy when I did my first Liadri, and for some reason doing the 8 orbs before killing her also felt somewhat hollow. I had burnt out doing it over and over in such a short time period. I hardly want to play right now, so I spend my time just trying to give tips and help others doing the fights up in the arenas when logged in.
Seafarer’s Rest
I figured I would finish Light Up the Darkness, and the very next day I did. So now I can say it having done every achievement for the Queen’s Jubilee (for these two weeks anyways), and.. I still don’t really feel like it needs a title to go with it. At least not while it’s delivered as temporary content. I’m perfectly happy with the fact that I have completed it for myself to enjoy and look back at in the achievement logs.
Make the content permanent at some point, and allow everyone to have as many goes as they want at it, then I’m much more open to the idea of a “look at me” brag-title. I use the title, “The Emperor”, in example, which is obtainable by anyone that wants it, but still a pretty rare title to see over someones head, probably due to the cost involved in getting it. Over time, it will get more common, sure, but then there’s new titles that we can likely invest our efforts into getting, which won’t be as common for a while.
Oh, and just in case someone wants a screenshot or it didn’t happen:
Seafarer’s Rest
Just finished the Light Up the Darkness achievement on Guardian, giving up on my idea with the Thief, as I’m just more used to and comfortable with Guardian these days (and I think this may be one of the keys to beating her and getting that additional hard achievement, play a class you feel comfortable on, that you usually play. And it really does help if you go in there calm and not caring, basically that if you fail you just smile and try again, if you keep your adrenaline levels down, it’s easier to not make mistakes the next time around).
I still think this is unnecessarily hard, for temporary content, and I am a firm believer in that everyone, casual and hardcore, should be able to complete everything within temporary content. Give us these hard challenges, with added leaderboards, for permanent content instead and a lot of us will love you long time. I at least think it’d be a lot of fun if the timer was removed and you had leaderboards (split by profession) for longest survivor, most orbs thrown at Liadri, fastest kill, most meat denied Chomper, etc.—It’d also allow for a variety of builds to be used for different tasks. Obviously issues with the arenas themselves would need to be resolved. Instanced? It’s fun with spectators though. Dome design needs to get revised, it’s working against the camera, adding serious frustration due to lack of battlefield awareness. Flooring hides red circles completely for color weak/blind players, should be solid and not in a red-ish tint. My biggest complaints.
For those interested in builds: Guardian. All Celestial armor, all Ascended Celestial trinkets (the backpack is Ascended Soldier, no Celestial available for that slot unfortunately). I don’t think the stats of the armor matters all too much though, and I’m sure Soldier is a great alternative (Exotics are fine as well), as I completed it within the time limit quite easily. As Guardian, Retaliation was key for me. 6x Superior Rune of Flame Legion. Mainly used a (Berserker) Staff, though I had and did switch to a (Soldier) Greatsword after I had thrown 8 orbs. Sigil of Energy on the Staff (never got triggered), Superior Sigil of Strength on the Greatsword (barely used, so Sigils didn’t help me at all in other words. If you’d want to mimic the build you’d be better off with a different Sigil on the Staff at least). Traits: 0 – 0 – 10 (V) – 30 (II, X, XI) – 30 (II, VIII, IX). Utilities: Shelter, “Stand Your Ground”, “Save Yourselves!”, “Hold the Line!”, Renewed Focus. Consumables: Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew, Quality Maintenance Oil. Most importantly: Your favorite music to keep your mood up. As soon as I put on a song, and this can of course only be credited to the song, I managed to get the Light Up the Darkness achievement in one go. Music is key!
Seafarer’s Rest
I’d rather want a title for consuming my 100,000 drinks. That’s 100,000 clicks with your mouse and 700,000 Karma (when buying the best rewarding beverage from a Karma vendor at least, 4 drinks per beverage, 28 Karma each). It got you a title in the first game, so why not this time around.
Why don’t I get a title for making five legendaries? Isn’t that hard(core) enough to warrant a title as well? There’s plenty of things in the game that doesn’t reward a title, even though it feels like they sure could’ve given one.
I don’t think Light Up the Darkness needs a title though. Granted, I have yet to complete it, but I’m confident I will and I’m happy enough to have a complete collection of achievements, something I can enjoy for myself. I’d rather have the two things I listed above give a title of some sort, at least the drinks one. E.g., “Drunkard”, “Legendary”.

(edited by Absconditus.6804)
The fight isn’t hard per say, the fight is actually pretty fine. The arena is not fine, that is the main problem with this Queen’s Gauntlet, and more so on Liadri. The arena design is some of the worst the game has implemented, especially when they know about their own camera limitations and the fights requiring awareness of your sorroundings on the field.
To design it like this, with a dome sorrounding the battle field, causing the camera to fairly constantly creep up and give you “NSFW” booty-screenshots, is just stupid. They should have been able to get that feedback from their testers, and this should have been resolved before this went live. The other problem with the arena is the flooring. It’s a “rusty red” (I think) grate flooring, making it pretty much impossible for people like myself, who are color weak and/or blind to even see red circles, they’re “invisible”. Again, this should have been possible to get feedback on from someone in their testing group, as they should have someone hired that can check for these things. Add to that the issue (I’ve been told) of red circles also being unreliable, since if you supposedly stand outside them near their edge, you still get hit. I have seen this issue elsewhere too, in content where I can actually see these red rings, so I’ll be inclined to believe my friends telling me this being the case here too. Someone probably mixed up the code long ago for what should be a red circle and what should be the area of damage.
I’ve beaten Liadri, but I wouldn’t say I’m done. I have the 8 orbs to throw at her before she is killed achievement left. This feels nearly impossible, even though I’m certain I will manage to complete it in the next couple days through some luck (as I can’t see circles, I need a little bit of luck). But I really don’t see why temporary content needs to be so super hard and elitist, that only a few can do it, hoorah, we’re the best, bow down to our excellence, we’re special “hardcore” snowflakes, look at me! Look at me I said! Why aren’t you giving me the attention I crave! Where you going? Hey.. hey, come back!
For permanent content, I would love these kinds of challenges, especially if it had been expanded upon with leaderboards for various things, like say remove the timer and have a leaderboard section dedicated to those that can stay alive the longest, those who can throw the most orbs at Liadri, those who can kill Liadri the fastest, etc. What irks me is the limited time nature of adding it in temporary content and/or making it re-occuring events that once in a while shows up, potentially with completely different achievements and rewards.
Sure, they’ve said Queen’s Gauntlet will re-appear in the future, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the same achievements will. Sure, achievements is not necessary, but nothing in a game is necessary. You don’t need to level up, you don’t need to gear up, you don’t need to play with others to enter a dungeon, you don’t need to this and that, here and there, but you still want to do so. I am one of the people playing to collect achievements, why should that be frowned upon more than someone playing the game for sPvP specifically, World vs. World or otherwise general PvE?
Seafarer’s Rest
Only times I don’t ressurect someone, is when I am AFK. Please keep in mind that some players may be AFK and not trying to be jerks by not ressurecting you. Some have queued up before you died, and as such gets ported in before they have time to ressurect you, and so on forth. I’m sure some people also just want to avoid ressurecting, and then having that person run quickly over to queue up again without them being able to have a go. Had that happen more than once.
Can we make the complaints about people you ressurect not even letting you have a go before they enter again as well?
Seafarer’s Rest
I really thought there would be more people who felt like i am. After 3 days i now feel like i have nothing to do but wait until the next living story. THAT is the problem.
How about.. farming in the Pavilion for money. Doing the Queen’s Gauntlet with Gambits for money and what not. Or how about doing the Light up the Darkness, even if your buddy isn’t around, since it’s a solo thing at any rate and it’s not like you can really help eachother all that much for it.
I don’t consider myself done before I have that last achievement I’m missing, which is Light up the Darkness. This annoys me, since I find it especially hard when I have trouble seeing any red circles (color weak) and the camera likes to check my behind out. I guess it’s a nice looking behind, so fine, I don’t blame the camera for wanting to gander at it, but still.. co-operate with me here a bit, camera, please?
I wish I was done with it though, I really do. Because then I could go and play World vs. World, sPvP and other general PvE content, besides occasionally hopping back to the Pavilion for some added fun there while it’s around. As it is, I’m stuck repeating a stupid arena over and over until I luck out and get my last achievement. And yes, I have to luck out, as the red circles are literally invisible to me, they aren’t there, and I can’t use my camera to get spacial awareness, since that likes to oogle at my beautiful behind.
Seafarer’s Rest
Did it with Guardian, Celestial gear setup, Staff and Scepter+Focus. Full shouts build, traits that typically goes with that, 0-0-30-30-10. Kept losing to her, or rather the timer, at 2-3% left of her health because of the lower damage that Guardians have and the timer being too short, but scraped by at some point.
Hated the fight, still hate it, didn’t even make me happy to finally kill her. It’s a terribly designed battle arena, when the camera is less than useful and, me being color weak, not being able to even see red circles what so ever on that flooring (can’t believe that hasn’t been hotfixed yet..). The fight itself is not bad mind you, the arena it takes place in is. Ironic when the developer has Arena spelled out in their name.
Working on my last achievement which is the 8 orbs and kill Liadri one, using my D/P Thief now, Berserker gear, Celestial trinkets, 0-20-30-20. Hide in Shadows (stealth), Signet of Agility (oh snap endurance refill panic button), Shadow Refuge (stealth), Scorpion Wire (pulls Visions into light fields to make fast orbs to throw at Liadri) and Thieves Guild (used right after third orb has been tossed at her).
Basically taking use of stealth by trying to do Cloack and Dagger as soon as a orb to throw has been created (also use Cloak and Dagger to kill the gravity orbs that pulls you around), so that I can pick it up while a bunch of visions is nearby (don’t explode if you’re stealthed) and/or giving myself some time to breathe and throw the orb without too much hassle. Still didn’t get it done, but that’s mainly because of the terrible arena design and these circles being invisible to me. I keep stepping a few steps too far to the left, too far to the right, clouds fall down on my head and I’m dead. If I at least could see the circles, the horrible camera wouldn’t be such a huge issue.
