^Scholar’s can be easily swapped out for equivalent effectiveness with Ruby Orbs in the upgrade slots, losing the chance at Scholar’s pathetic uptime of 10% bonus damage in return for 4% crit and 4% more critical damage easily makes Ruby Orbs a competitive alternative.

Pistol off-hand for spammable daze’s (for stripping down the stacks of CC immunity on bosses to prep him for a real stun/daze/cc).
Smoke field to handle trash mobs.
Haste for burst + Ini regen. (Could easily replace Initial with Bountiful Theft for group vigor.)
Refuge to res careless allies.
RoI for the initiative burst+stun break+condi remove and evade window.

Or there’s a 10/30/30/0/0 build if you’re a bigger fan of dual daggers, but I found that pistol off-hand for dungeon work is pretty tasty for direct damage builds. Too bad I despise sword with a passion.

Condition builds for the thief are typically one of the more desirable builds.
High survivability and your damage doesn’t require you maintaining the risky uptime of melee ranged proximity to the enemies (who can easily 2-3 shot you if you’re not paying attention).

Citadel of Flame has a good “Carrion” Condition-damage centered set of Exotic armor/weapons if you’re looking to stack Condi/Power/Vitality.
Ascalonian Catacombs / Honor of the Waves (I believe) have a “Rabid” Condition-damage centered set, as well if you want toughness and precision.

This is stupid how hard is fix this, this is easy problem.

Nothing is as simple as it seems.

Think of coding like playing jenga. If you pull out blocks near the bottom you can easily topple the entire tower. Likewise if you mess with a bit of code over there you can make another part of the game break. This is why new bugs keep coming up because when you fix one thing it can have a negative effect on other things.

If it was an easy fix it would have been done already.

It is easy if its not easy then project is shti. Im IT engineer and I know what Im talking.
AN is too lazy and errors like this has low priority, whats meen gw2 has too meny critic errors.

What the hell does maintaining a network have to do with coding a game?
Not a kitten thing.

Not sure how I like how it plays at the moment (I am more a hack, slash, burn kinda person!), but I’ll give it a try.

Try out Sword/Pistol + Greatsword for ranged (not to mention Phantasmal DeathRagerFromHell). Blurred Frenzy + Illusionary Unload = Corpses of your enemies will be bite-sized chunks and riddled with bullets. Imaginary bullets. That are real.

You get the picture.

I believe that all I’m reading is, “I don’t want to learn to how to adapt and overcome the battlefield conditions present, I want the Almight ArenaNet to righteously smite my enemies mobility advantage so that my inferior thinking can carry through another day.”

If you’re part of a keep defense and you see a portal you can’t interact with- you’re the fool for not plainly realizing the new threat to your defensive line.

Mesmers are a powerful class, and particularly in WvW where Portal can have such a massive effect in an “Army v. Army” engagement. The mass mobility offered by Portal is very akin to the arrival of the machine gun, or combustion engines, or aerial warfare in military history.

And just like then, people complained that gunpowder weapons were uncivilized or ignoble- and just like then, those people where outmoded with their antiquated understanding of warfare.

I vote portals stay, and I don’t even play a Mesmer.

10 Deadly Arts for Mug
30 Critical Strikes for the crux of your burst damage
30 Shadow Arts for massively powerful Stealth (effectively turning Stealth into a stable and reliable defensive mechanic).

D/D + SB is a must for this build, however you can switch out D/D for Sword/Dagger if you find yourself enjoying the Daze-locking potential of Tactical Strike.

I love “Cloaked in Shadow”. 240 Radius AoE Blind when I stealth? I’ll take that, thank you.

Edit: I use full Berserker/Ruby gear. Power/Precision/Critical Damage

High burst, awesome HP regen while stealthed.
Higher toughness than your typical burst build, and with the might stacks from SA’s 25 point minor, you typically hover around 4-6 stacks of Might.

Ruby Orbs are definitely far more cost effective.
I’m running full Scholar’s for WvW and it was an “upgrade” from Ruby Orbs.
You know what the difference is? Nothing really that noticable.

New Boon "Hidden."

Its kind of like Stealth, except you can still see the thief, he is just mirrored in the background, and you can’t target him, but you can still see him.

This boon is affected by “Boon Duration” and all stealth traits, but its a weaker form of stealth.

When your hiding you are harder to see, but you can still be heard walking and you can still be seen. (kind of like predator, you just mirror the background.)

And what would the purpose of this be? Because it sounds:
1.) Redundant.
2.) Something myself nor any moderately competitive Thief player would ever even consider as useful.

Two big reasons:
1.) What you’ve proposed is effectively what Stealth is already, just that you’re asking that the main benefit of Stealth be removed entirely.
2.) You’re not “hidden” if people can see you. You’re lurking, and not very well at that.

Every class in the game has <4 TTK vs unprepared people.
And it’s very, very welcome.
I’m tired of MMOs where PvP is endurance battles where reaction time and surprise effect doesn’t matter because you can reset a fight.
If you are caught with your pants down, you die. Period.

THIS. One million times.

It’s like people want to play a game where any class that can beat their ideal Roleplaying build/look on their class (I’ve met people ingame who use a weapon set based on looks, not performance/synergy).

If you aren’t paying attention in real warfare and your enemy has the element of surprise, you’re dead.
There is thousands of historic examples of Asymmetric Warfare being employed to extreme effect at the cost of an otherwise impervious militaries strengths. (Viet-Cong, American Minute-Men, Mongol Horse Archers).

From what I’m reading it’s almost like none of you have ran into a good sword/pistol Mesmer, or Dag/Dag tank/mob Ele.
The Thiefs primary advantage as a burst/direct damage build IS it’s 5 digit crits, because if that target is alive much longer, you won’t be.

Backstab doesn’t need a nerf. If a Thief uses 2-3 45s+ cooldowns to insta-gib someone, it’s not like their team can’t res them, or completely destroy the Thief in the 3 seconds you’re locked out in the open with Revealed.

That’s also assuming optimal conditions for the Thief prepping such an invested spike- if his target is aware of his approach Basilisk Venom is a kittentun for any player who isn’t a kitten and has at least 1 stun break. (Every class has 3, mind you.)
Stun breaks, typically, are also movement skills that allow you to put distance between yourself and the Thief.

Stop nerfing the Assassin Class just because you’re too near-sighted to adapt to the environment. Backstab is part of the environment. Stop kittening and get better.

This is what I usually rock for WvW.
(Full Zerker exotic armor/weapons/jewelry)

Con’s:
-Low HP (11.5k)
-Low(ish) Armor (2.2k)
-No AoE aside from Cluster Bomb spam
-12 Initiative “pool”.

Pro’s:
-#1 slot chain usually totals for 6-7k.
-7-8k backstabs, 9-10k+ if Fire procs.
-BP is an awesome emergency Stealth.
-SR is a Might stacking machine + Group Stealth/Heal/Stomp-Stopper.
-Cloak and Dagger returns 2 Initiative when it Stealths you.
-Whenever you gain the Stealth buff:
—You blind enemies near you (240 Radius, 5s Blind).
—You gain roughly ~302hp/sec while Stealthed with only 300 Compassion from traits.
—You gain 2x 15s Might when you enter Stealth.
—You gain +2 Initiative.
(These effects compound when 2 Thieves sharing this build run a “Wolfpack”, as all the benefits are universal upon gaining Stealth. The source of the Stealth you gain is irrelevant.)

With the Rejuv effect from Stealth plus high-end burst damage, this build can easily 1v4/5 against equally geared/leveled opponents (assuming it isn’t a premade team w/ voice comms. If you’re good/lucky it’s still doable, but you have enough Stealth escapes that if you can’t beat them- you can safely bug-out or shadow them for a more opportune moment to strike.)

That was a good night of WvW, too bad my night job takes me out of all the fun just when it’s getting interesting.

As a side note though, I was noticing an exceptionally high amount of server-side lag in the BPBL tonight. Granted, it was a target-rich environment- but I’ve never really seen it that choppy before.

11/23: BP/AR/GOM Matchup

I know we are in a 3 way battle, but why would {NEX} from GoM stop one person on AR from hitting a BP target? You guys working for BP?

Well, we weren’t then.
Nothing personal Dovgan, I just semi-pricey siege in a position that could be reached without having to deploy siege of our own. It’s a supply game, WvW is.
At least, that’s how I see it.
