I’ll confess guys, IDK why Mesmer is often called the “hardest to level up” class, I’ve played an Engineer up to level 16 and I have to say: it takes me FOREVER to kill any mob, and it takes them NOTHING to reduce me to minced meat.
I’ve tried all kits, however, it seems his DPS compared to other classes is slow. It takes me many, MANY uses of grenades and let’s not talk about Flamethrower to kill something my Ranger, Guardian and Revenant can slay without failure.
How on earth am I supposed to take this guy to 80?!
Well guys, I decided to re-roll some characters and settle for some PVE toons, my favorites as of now being Guardian and Ranger.
I’m hearing rumors about Axe/Torch ranger being as effective, if not more, than Zerker on terms of DPS.
Since I plan on doing High Level PVE content with either character, I was considering starting to save stuff to craft gear for Ranger; however I’ve got to decide if keeping the old reliable Longbow build (which is kinda boring) or trying the new Axe/Torch one, which so far has worked like a charm when I’m surrounded by enemies.
Any ideas?
Events give the most XP but really pretty much everything in this game gives XP – exploring, rezzing, mining/harvesting, killing mobs, dailies, etc.
Yup, but it takes long and I’ve explored 43% of Tyria with 2 characters already :/ Doing the hearts over and over and over and over again gets TIRESOME, considering I leveled up all my alts (save for this new Ranger who is lvl 5, my 70 Reve and 65 Guardian) to 25 makes it a chore…
What Mars said.
Hmmm, how many tomes should I be getting on a week?
Hey guys, I’ve created a Sylvari Ranger in order to turn him into a Druid later on, excited about the coming of Raids.
However, being a college student I have limited time to invest on leveling a class all over again; I’ve took my Guardian and Revenant to level 70, and doing Map Exploration ALL OVER AGAIN has been slowly killing my desire to level the Druid.
What’s the fastest possible way to level up a character as of now?
Thanks for the replies guys, deffinitely I’m grabbing my Reve again
I’m leveling her up before continuing Chapter 6, however I do noticed many of you were right on my outdated gears. They weren’t THAT outdated since I got some nice drops from MKL, bt after spending some silver on the bazaar I deffinitely can manage the class better, as I substituted some weird gear that gave me stats like “Healing Power”, “Condition Damage” and “Toughness” by small ammounts, and actually got myself full Zerker. I also noticed I hadn’t bought new charms whatsoever and I was stuck with the one I got (Power +10) while exploring Kezzex.
I’m running S/S and Hammer as of now, and now I see why people likes Hammer! However I still have to understand what Axe 5 is supposed to be, since when I fight I never see the “pull” effect…
1. Get a sword
2. Spec devastation
3. Select Shiro
4. Turn on impossible odds
5. Watch everything die.
That’s the problem… Impossible Odds finishes before anything I touch is dead, and in case it’s dead, my attunement bar is empty because it drains it fast, and now I have another 2 enemies closing in which will take 1/3 of my HP bar.
That’s the reason the Claw Island mission was riddiculous. As a Guardian and Ranger I had no problem dealing and kiting enemies, Revenant was a whole diferent story since Attunement bar management is stoff from a different planet.
Well guys, when HoT came out I used the Mad King Labyrinth to level my revenant up to 62; however I noticed maybe the class is not for me, or MAYBE I’m just building/playing it wrong.
I have as much resilence as my elementalist, meaning I can hardly take on something without being blown up on tiny, mega small bits. I quit playing Revenant after the Personal Story Vigil Mission where you have to fend off undead from Claw Island.
I swear, I was shot down about 12 times during that mission; I’ve died less on open world PVE and Dungeons with my Elementalist than what I could stand with my Revenant (wearing Zerker of course, but so does my Ranger and he usually has no problems…)
Using S/A and Mace for AoE, since I feel that Hammer is sluggish and doesn’t deals as much damage, and has me running in circles for cooldowns to get down. Axe, I don’t see how it’s good… Also using Shiro and the dwarf.
I’ll be honest, maybe I don’t feel the aftermentioned weapons are good because I don’t understand them, maybe I’m building wrong, but I’m about to flush a level 62 character down the toilet just because I feel better with Guardian and Ranger, I’m about to flush a character I might be good with but I haven’t found out how to.
So here I am, requesting your aid
I’ve been looking for at least 3 classes to use on Endgame PVE content (Fractals, Dungeons, HoT, and Raids), out of all the classes I’ve yet to level up from 5 my Warrior to say I’ve really “tried” it is my warrior. I’m about to take my main (guardian) to level 80 and I’ve yet to find a good DPS class I feel comfortable with: and many people has pointed the Warrior ro me.
However, every single time I enter the forums, I see a cascade of topics saying the Elite Spec is Garbage, the Warrior is Useless and Boring, the Warrior needs Nerfs, etc, etc, etc.
Pretty much everything said about the Ranger and Necro for PVE content is now being said for warrior, just now that it seems Warriors suddenly suck in both PVE and PVP.
Leveling from 1 to 80 is a VERY tedious and time consuming activity, so at least, I want to make sure that I’m going to invest my time on a good DPS PVE class (Since Mesmer is a pain to level and I’m still not sure how good it is for PVE).
So, care to tell me the truth?
I have to say, I’ve tried Thief, it’s pretty fun, but quite disheartening to know he might be out of the meta and HoT becomes a chore with him. I like the class but I don’t see the point on taking to level 80 someone who wouldn’t stand a chance on endgame content…
If you want to play HoT, then no. Thief range options are pretty bad even with buffed pistols, Thief will die in melee from almost any mob. If you want to tryhard even in pve then go ahead, I dont enjoy getting killed by almost every mob.
Dungs/Fractal wise thief is probably on top of dmg chart.
Sounds bad since Raids and HoT content are inside my plans
I used to 3-man sell Arah paths on a thief before all the powercreep, so yes, you can do normal PvE content with thief, just need to know what you’re doing more than some other easier classes.
Is there an “easier” DPS class for PVE than Thief?
Well guys, this is the last class I’ve yet to play, maining Guardian as of now and I still can’t find that special “click” between a class and I for PVE content.
I really like DPS, however Engineer and Elementalist are made for musicians (if you know what I mean) and Ranger seems to be… well, nothing on the current PVE meta.
I really want to run fractals and invest myself into HoT content, Dungeons and Raids; however most of opinions I’ve got regarding PVE Thief are reduced to “play if yuo enjoy being a stealth bot”.
Is it worth the time leveling this class for PVE content?
High DPS classes for PVE have always been my favorite.
Currently, I’ve leveled a Revenant up to 67 and a Warrior to 53; Revenant and I didn’t “click” as I expected, and I’m getting along just fine with Guardian. However, I’m still looking for a fun, High DPS class for Dungeons, Fractals and open world content.
Engineer looks like a fun class to play, but before investing time on leveling one up, I’d like to hear your opinion on how this guy deals damage and how much “hard” it is to play, since I couldn’t really handle how “piano-ey” was the Elementalist, and I’ve yet to try the Thief.
Hey guys, I’m new to GW2 and specially to the Mesmer Class. I’ve taken 2 characters to level 70, of which I ended up erasing one because I didn’t like his place on the current PVE Meta (bye my Ranger), which is what attracts my attention.
I created a Mesmer, and tho it’s fun, I find myself dealing lower DPS and having to wait mpore between battles to deal with ability cooldowns in order to complete maps and leveling up.
Created a Nord Mesmer, started out pretty well, feeling I was slaying every mob I found with my Sword/Pistol and clones; however past level 7 hearts I started having problems killing anything before me and dealing with several enemies at once unless I spammed F1 Clone Explosion and ran away; in fact, battler were becoming more strategical, but longer than anything else I played before.
I really want to dig into the class, but the fact I can’t explore enough and have a rough time leveling has been enough to put me away from it.
